Oh goodness….where to begin? Can we say “Roller-freaking-coaster?”
Kate is a 42 year old wife and mother of 2 daughters. Her husband, Robert, is a lawyer from uptown. To outsiders, Kate has everything. But when Jaylee and Kate make eye contact one afternoon, she is done for.  Drugs, sex, booze, money and the law are relevant in this book. Hold onto your sanity because you may just lose it. I was left in shock and shaking my head in disbelief.
The characters were quite enjoyable. Kate really dug herself in one heck of a grave. She loves her husband but there is the new found chemistry with Jaylee. I don’t want to say that he makes her feel young, but he helps her transform into a desirable woman. And Robert picked up on that change. Robert thinks its her way of spicing up their marriage and had no idea that it was started by a new man. I did feel sorry for Robert in the beginning and that changed in the duration of the book. I’ll just say he is a true definition of a lawyer.
The love between Kate and Jaylee is so different! At times, I was scared for Kate when she was around Jaylee. He is crazy, intense, shocking, and drew me in. He has pasiòn sin vergüena (passion without shame). If I met him on the street, I would not be attracted for him, I would fear for my life. He was so freaking hard core and borderline creepy in my mind. But gosh did he leave an imprint. My favorite character is Sarah. This spitfire is the best friend of Kate. When searching for validation, advice, or a confidence boost, Sarah was Kate’s gal
Please let me begin by saying that I do not like to read books that contain cheating! It’s just a hard limit for me. 😉 I had to kick my preconceived notions to side and persevere. And OMG am I glad I did. I liked this book a lot. I loved the Spanish that was in the book, it brought a different element. It just took me that much deeper into the book. For those that can’t read spanish, you may need to use a translation site. This is not a beautiful, whirlwind romance. This is every bit of f-ed up. Plot twist are evident and there is one heck of a cliffhanger. And even though I said I can’t do ‘cheating’, I will definitely read the sequel coming out in 2014: Fear of Heights. 4 smooches for Heights of Desire by Mara White.

I love Turner Campbell. And I love Naomi Knox. They are epic characters that make you laugh as well as get you hotter than a $2.00 hooker on payday. However, that being said, Dax and Sydney are just so….they are so…explosive. I was enraptured by them. Finally we get to see the world through Dax’s eyes. He has been portrayed as a stupid emo bitch according to Turner, but there is just so much there, underneath the surface. His story is just plain sad.

Sydney comes off hard as nails, but I sense that she has a soft spot. She is the older sister to Trey, Turner’s best friend. When she enters the picture, it feels like something epic is going to happen. And boy does it!

The insane story, the complex characters, the fast pace all combine to keep you on the edge of your seat. It must be said, I love C.M. Stunich and everything that she writes. Her poetic prose will rip your heart out. It’s bloody, and real, and beautiful. As far as I’m concerned, this story can go on forever!

Review

I really enjoyed this novella but then I am a huge fan of a dirty talking man. Beth Michele did a great job of telling a fun and intriguing story in the short amount of time provided in the novella format. I was intrigued by the blurb with the main character being an erotic romance writer and I was not let down. This story was witty and fun and I cannot wait to read more from Beth.

These two could not be more different . . . except they are the same person. Before a business trip Olivia decides she needs a little more Autumn in her life!

Enter Hunter Greyson. I LOVED HUNTER.  He is a sexy, dirty talking man and I am a sucker for a dirty talking man.  No lie. Hunter meets Autumn in line for coffee at the train station when she spills all her stuff (including some very personal items) from her purse. Instantly you can see the connection between them and then when he shows up on the train she is riding I was jumping for joy because I just knew this was going to get HOT.

The sexual chemistry is very apparent between these two but I could definitely see that it could be more than just that. But this is not all hearts, roses, and good sex.  Both Autumn and Hunter have trust issues that make forming relationships very difficult. Throughout the whole story, I was rooting for them to get past their issues and see that they could be more than just a fun time on a business trip.

Beth Michele did a great job a telling an engaging story in a short period of time and I will definitely be looking forward to reading more by her. My only concern with the book is sometimes the phrases felt repetitive, not enough for me to not enjoy the book and definitely not enough to make me want to stop reading. Overall I found this to be a very enjoyable novella that I would recommend people read.
