Review

Wow! This book really through me for a loop! I kind of thought I knew what I was getting into when I started but I can honestly say that part of me didn’t know how everything was going to pan out right up until the last page! A definite page turner, I couldn’t put it down.  Jacqs has had an on-again off-again relationship with Bond for years now but she is finally done with his inability to be monogamous. Broken-hearted by his blatant and constant cheating she vows to never succumb to her intense attraction to him again. At the same time that she comes to this decision, Red, Bonds best friend (who she thought hated her) approached her and admits to wanting her for years! The close relationship between all of these characters makes for a real emotional rollercoaster!  I don’t want to give away too much of the story line but this book is chock full of steamy sex scenes with some light BDSM. I totally fell in love with Red; he is sexy, strong and extremely patient. Bond was a tough character for me, he comes across as a real jerk for a lot of the book and he didn’t fully redeem himself in my eyes. I will say that this book ends with some things still feeling a little unsettled so I really hope we learn more in subsequent books in this series.

CHAPTER TWO
Stuck in Between – Chapter Two

Blakely Bennett grew up in Southeast Florida and has been residing in the great Northwest for over eight years. She graduated from Nova Southeastern University with a degree in psychology, which accounts for her particular interest in crafting the personalities, struggles, and motivations of her characters. She is an avid reader of many genres of fiction, but especially erotica and romance. Writing has always been her bliss. She is attracted to stories of self-struggle and ultimate recovery.

Blakely is married to a wonderful, loving and supportive husband, also a writer, who helps to keep her grounded. She is a mother, a communitarian, a lover of music (always on while she is writing—thank you, Pandora), and a good friend. An advocate of love and female empowerment, she is a facilitator for a women’s group. She loves to walk and hike for exercise and finds that, since moving to Seattle, WA, she is now one of those “crazy” people who walk in the rain.

Stuck In Between (erotic romance) is her 5th novel. She is also the author of the dark erotic suspense, My Body Trilogy (My Body-His, My Body-His (Marcello) & My Body-Mine) and co-authored the contemporary romance, The Demarcation of Jack with her husband, Dana Bennett.

Synopsis

Chris King never saw it coming…
In some ways, closing the book on my first love was the worst day of life. I was gutted, and yet I was completely at peace with my decision. I walked away knowing that I did what was best for her, unsure if I could ever recover.
Little did I know that one concert would change the entire course of my life.

There I stood, signing autographs and snapping pictures with fans when a familiar face in the crowd catapulted my mind back in time—Salem Honeycutt, once a balm to my pain and a calm in my storm. Yet again, her smiling face gave me hope.
Only one question remained: did she still see me as a wayward teenage boy who was completely off limits, or could she see the man I’d become…focused and driven, yearning for another chance at love?

For Salem Honeycutt, postpartum bliss seemed like a lie…
No one told me that I’d hate my baby when I brought her home from the hospital. No one told me that I’d want to put a pillow over my husband’s head and smother him in his sleep. No one told me that I’d want to slap every person who gave me the ever-so-cliché advice to ‘cherish every moment.’ No one told me that I’d despise my life the minute I became a mother, but I did.

Then I met Chris King, the kid who made me want to pull myself up from the dark recesses of my mind and face each day. This kid, whose passion for life and talent for music, touched my soul deeper than I could ever touch his. Chris gave me a reason to live.

I was once affectionately known as Mrs. H., Chris’s juvenile detention counselor.

This is our story.

Review

Then There Was You is the second book in the So Much it Hurts series. Since it was pretty clear that Chris played a pretty significant role in the first book I did a bit of digging through some reviews to get  the back story. Even knowing Chris’s history a bit I still felt like this book stands well on its own. A  large portion of this story takes place 14 years ago while Chris is serving time in a juvenile detention facility where Salem works as a counsellor. You get to see a really beautiful friendship build between  the 17 year old Chris and 24 year old Salem. Both in very vulnerable places in their respective lives,  they find hope in each other. Fast forward 14 years and Chris is now a successful rock star and Salem, a single mom of a 14 year old daughter. As their lives come together once again it is very clear that the connection between the two is still there but now it takes on a new dimension that neither of them saw coming! I really enjoyed this book, Then There was You was beautifully written, heartfelt and romantic and the slow build-up of sexual tension was so worth the wait! I also appreciated the fact that it is dual POV, I love getting into each characters head! I may have to go back and read the first book and I would love to see a HEA for the other members of Chris’s band 😉

Synopsis

I love him, from the instant I set eyes on him when I was just 11 years old I have loved him and nothing will ever change that, he owns me, he owns my heart and he owns my body and no matter how many lies are told, no matter how many people conspire to keep us apart, despite the fame and the distance, we will find a way.

“Georgia Rae, when we made love you used to cry” … He waits for me to sing my bit. I try to swallow down a sob but I just end up singing through it…
“I said I love you like the stars above, I’ll love you till I die”

Carnage is an edgy coming of age love story that breaks all the rules and transcends the decades. Georgia and Sean’s story will stay with you long after you read the final word.
An emotional, smoking hot, gut wrenching read.

This is part #1 of a 2 part story but can be read as a stand alone.

Review

Carnage has been popping up in my newsfeed on Facebook left and right lately, so I felt compelled to see what all the fuss was about.  Upon taking a peek on Goodreads, I found the cover, meh, so so, but it had really good reviews so I decided to give it a try.  I am really glad that I did.

I want to start off by saying that I wasn’t a fan of the writing style right away.  I felt like there were too many comma’s where periods needed to be and almost stopped reading only a few pages in.  If you find you feel this way, please just keep reading because there is a beautiful, gritty, and real story laying ahead that you do not want to miss.

Georgia meets Sean at the tender age of 11 and instantly knows that she wants him for forever.  They are soul mates and Carnage is their story. Carnage is exactly how I would describe it, too. I cannot even tell you how emotionally affected I was by this story.  Cheating, lies, love, lust.  It was all there and my emotions were all over the place.  I cried my eyes out one moment, and the next I was laughing.  One minute I would be ready to throw my kindle, the next swooning.  I was a damn hot mess throughout their whole ordeal.  And, the ending!  Oh, the ending!  Why, Lesley, why did you do that to me?!  I was beyond crushed and so very pissed off at you.

So, I think what I am trying to say, is that I loved this story.  I hated it.  I loved it again.  And then I self medicated with wine and chocolate.  I guess the way the book was written wasn’t  a big deal after all for me, because I literally could not put this book down.  I felt so much when reading it and isn’t that the ultimate sign of an amazing read?

Synopsis

AMBER TURNER has trust issues. Major trust issues. Shipped off to boarding school at the tender age of six by her power hungry mother and distant father, she tried hard to gain her parents’ approval and have the love she craved. After graduating high school, she comes home from school hoping she will finally have the family life she wants. Turns out, dear old mom merely needs her to smile and wave for the photo ops while she runs for public office. After she wins her coveted position, her mother doesn’t need her anymore and gives Amber two choices: be kicked out of the house without a dime or find a “suitable” husband from the “right” family at an exclusive college in Texas. Yee-fucking-haw.

TOMMY BOLT is a blue-eyed country boy with secrets of his own. To help out an old family friend, he offers to stand in as the school chauffeur. Damsel in distress and all. He picks up Amber and her aunt when they land, driving her towards her new life. Drawn to her striking sense of humor, smart mouth, and her scrumptious ass, he offers to show her around town. With his dark curls, sapphire blue eyes, mischievous grin, and one smokin’ bod, Amber is tempted to get to know him better. After a scorching hook-up, Amber tries to make it all about the sex, brushing off every attempt Tommy makes to get to know her with sarcasm and half-truths. Tommy pushes Amber’s limits, emotionally and physically, forcing her to break down her walls. His only condition is I don’t share. His only requirement is honesty. After one monumentally stupid decision, Amber violates his trust and Tommy walks away, obliterating her heart.

Reivew

Amber has been kicked out of her house by her bitch of a mum who is  more concerned with her career than being a mother. She moves Amber to Texas to go live with Aunt Patty and attend a well to do university.

Amber is feisty, spunky, confident and full of spirit. It was a interesting change to read about a young women who liked boys and girls as it’s the ‘person she likes’. It was a new experience for me to read a NA where the female lead had different sexual preferences typical of most NA books and I really liked it. Mostly because Amber and her roommate and friend Sally were hilarious together as well as flirty and sexy.

Tommy is the ultimate southern boy with the old fashioned southern charm but with an edge. He was beautiful with a tight body and piercing blue eyes, the ultimate country boy who’s also a musician, an alpha and has a spark of dominance in him. You really can’t ask for more. Especially since he certainly wasn’t a gentleman in the bedroom. The sex scenes between him and Amber were HOT HOT HOT!!

This was a good, university filled drama story with off the charts hot sex scenes. The story mainly revolved around Amber and her friends life in the university, mostly their sexual and party life. It was filled with angst and drama not just between Tommy and Amber but other characters as well like Sally and Lilly. There were also background stories that kept you hooked and wanting to read on to know what happens next like who was attacking the waitresses? who was messing with Ambers grades? And what is up with Bobby?

My favorite scene has to be the question and answer, punishment and reward game Amber and Tommy played. It was beyond sexy but also loved that Tommy was trying to get Amber to open up for him, it’s the moment you realize he wants more than just sex from her and actually wants to get to know Amber for who she really is.

It does end very suddenly, which isn’t a favorite of mine. Everything is left very much open ended and no issues are solved or questions answered. However on the plus side it means I will definitely be reading the second book to find out how everything works out.

This to me was a YA plot but with NA content. There are hot and explicit sex scenes and drug use so 18+ but with a story that took place in university and was filled with relationship drama, older readers of the YA genre and NA readers would really enjoy this one.

Will he be the one to free her heart from the icy façade and make things right? Or, will things go terribly wrong?

I’m a thirty-two-year-old self-proclaimed book nerd.  Married to for nearly eleven years, my husband and I enjoy spending time with our two lovely children.  Writing is a newly acquired fun hobby for me.  In the past, I’ve enjoyed the role as a reader.  However, recently, I learned that I absolutely love taking on the creative role as the writer.  Something about determining how the story will play out intrigues me to no end.  My husband claims that it’s because I like to control things—in a way, he’s right!
By day, I run around from appointment to appointment, wearing many hats including, mom, wife, part-time graphic designer, blogger, networker, social media stalker, student, business owner, and book boyfriend hunter.  (It’s actually a thing—complete with pink camo.  I lurk around the internet, “researching” pictures of hot guys who fit the profile of whatever book boyfriend I’m reading or writing about)
I guess you can blame my obsession with books on my lovely grandmother, who is quite possibly my favorite person on the planet.  At an early age, she took me to the half-priced bookstore each weekend and allowed me to choose a book.  Every single time, she caved when I begged for two.  Without her encouragement, I wouldn’t have been able to cope during some hard times without my beloved books.
Currently, I am finishing up my college degree that has taken me forever to complete.  It’s just on the list of my many “bucket-list” goals that I subject myself to.
Most days, you can find me firmly planted in front of my computer.  It’s my life.  If the world ever loses power, I’d be one of the first to die—of boredom!  But I guess as long as I have books and a light, I might just survive.
Looking forward, you can expect to see two more novels in the Breaking the Rules Series.  I’m nearly finished with the third.  Also, I have a standalone novel that will be released soon as well.
This writing experience has been a blast, and I’ve met some really fabulous people along the way.  I hope my readers enjoy reading my stories as much as I do writing them.  I look forward to connecting with you all!

Synopsis

Pepper is a bitch—and proud of it. She has a great family, the best two friends a girl could ask for, and the career she’s always wanted. But the buck stops there. Aside from the people closest to her, she completely lacks in the social department. Because of her snarky, bitchy, full on attitude, she’s unapproachable, at best.

Pepper learned in high school that you have to protect yourself—a handsome devil taught her that the hard way. And she does that by pushing away suitors. Most of them are lame, completely lacking in the brains department. Dating isn’t something she wants or needs—or is it?

Review

Wrong is book two in the Breaking the Rules series by K. Webster. This book can be read as a standalone, but I do feel the knowledge provided in the first book, Broken, does enhance the story. Plus, Broken is an Amazing book so why would you skip it! Wrong follows Pepper, Andi’s best friend and roommate, and Jordan, Jackson’s brother and business partner.  Wrong is full of drama, action and tons of steamy scenes that will get your panties in a twist (if you’re wearing any!)

pepper

Pepper is beautiful, smart and downright bitchy! She has a past that holds her back and has left her a grown woman who has only been kissed once and scarred to the point of avoiding all forms of dating. High school was rough for the nerdy girl who had a reputation she didn’t deserve and because of it she prefers to be alone and uses her attitude as a defense mechanism. For me Pepper was a great heroine just broken enough that you feel for her but stronger than she ever lets on. I loved her sass and the fact that she could give it out to anyone who she thought had it coming!

pizap.com13957175818111

Jordan is a strong, sexy, confident businessman who isn’t afraid to go after what he wants, and what he wants is Pepper! Jordan is instantly attracted to her and her smart mouth and goes to great lengths to ensure he can spend more time together. I loved how Jordan was both a controlling Alpha but also when needed a very sensitive and loving man! He was just the right mix of it all to be the perfect Sex God Book Boyfriend! LOVED him and want more of him!

Pepper and Jordan have strong chemistry! You could see it in the first book and it is even more intense in this one! Pepper doesn’t take crap from anyone but when Jordan tells her what to do in that sexy way he doe,s she (like all us HOT bloodied women) melt and caves! When he throws her over his shoulder, SWOON!

Reading this book took me through a myriad of emotions. I felt deeply for Pepper’s past and watching Jordan tear down the walls she had built up filled me with glee!  This book has a fair amount of action with an man from Pepper’s past coming back and causing all kinds of trouble. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to find out how it all played out and I am so glad that I didn’t put it down!

Wrong is a quick read at under 200 pages but it didn’t feel too short to me. I think all of the story lines were well played out and I was very pleased with the book as a whole! I love this series and can’t wait for Olive’s story too!

Synopsis

Dimitri Sokolov is a man scarred, physically and emotionally. From the rough streets of Moscow to the highest ranks in the Solntsevskaya Bratva, he has seen it all.

An attack four years ago left him disfigured and in seclusion, hiding from reactions to his appearance and in safety from those who failed to kill him the first time.

Comfortable in his penthouse, managing his billion dollar businesses, he’s resigned himself to be alone, simply called The Beast among those who’ve dealt with him in the past.

Columbia Grey is a pseudo-activist trying to save her neighbourhood from a developer intent on levelling it to build apartment towers. She goes along with a plan to confront the CEO of the company on his own turf, to force him to listen to her demands…all in a pathetic attempt to impress a man she barely likes.

Little does she know, she’s taken herself into the mouth of the beast, a man familiar with death and destruction, sex and seduction, a man used to getting exactly what he wants and a man with nothing left to lose.

She’s a beauty, but will that be enough to tame the beast and save her life?

**This can be read as a standalone, but is Book One in the Beast Series. Book Two is Little Dove.

*** Warning, this is a classified as a dark erotic novel. It deals with some pretty heavy themes. It may trigger those who have experience sexual abuse, rape, violence, basically a shitty childhood or life in general. I must be kind of messed in the head, because I thought it was a touching story full of amazing imagery and people with hearts that continue to beat and seek the beauty in the world in spite of life grinding them into nothingness. Apparently some early reviewers have found mainly the darker elements, so consider this your warning, for what it’s worth. This is not a fairy tale, this is what happens when the music ends and life goes on after the credits roll. This is about simply existing until you find yourself and write your own happily ever after, no matter what form it takes.

My Review

I want to start this review much the same way Jaden Wilkes starts off her book, with a bit of a warning!

This is a dark book that deals with topics not everyone is prepared to read about. There is talk of both abuse and rape as well as a good share of some BDSM. If these are not things you are comfortable reading about then this book isn’t for you. That being said I LOVED this dark story. This un-fairy tale is still so much of a fairy tale for me! The two people could not be more different and yet more perfect for each other.

When this story begins Columbia is trying to impress a guy who she has been lusting over for a while by sneaking into Dimitri’s building to confront the Real Estate Tycoon who is changing their neighborhood.  Once Dimitri finds her he cannot let her go because she might lead the men out to get him back to his penthouse. He initially keeps her for his safety but it doesn’t take long for him to realize his intense attraction to Columbia.

pizap.com13956621776841

Columbia is a young girl who is getting by in life. She comes from a rough childhood but has persevered for both her sake and the sake of her younger sister. The only way for her to deal with what she has been through is to cut herself so mixing some pain into her life is nothing new for her.

I won’t go into much detail about these characters or this story because I truly believe there is something special about discovering it as you go in this book. Columbia is damaged but a tough fighter, even after she has been captured and tortured she keeps fighting and refusing to give in.

pizap.com13956630039792

Dimitri is an Russian ex-mob assassin with a hit on his head. He is hiding out while plotting his revenge on his old mentor turned enemy. Dimitri has only one person in his life who knows who and where he is and that is if confidant and attendant, The Concierge. Living the life of a fugitive or sorts has done it’s toll on him and he trust no one.

He keeps to himself and has girls brought in and blindfolded to relieve the tension h e builds up. So, when beautiful and innocent Columbia appears in his place he wants to keep her both for his safety (she knows where he is ) and his desires!

Let’s talk sexual chemistry! These two have it from the beginning, even when fighting it Columbia knows she wants this scary man. Once they give in . . . oh my! I can’t even explain how good it is!

This novel by Jaden Wilkes way well written and kept me guessing the whole way. Both Dimitri and Columbia are in a way broken but together they seem whole. Although their time together is fast paced and everything happens quickly it felt appropriate didn’t seem unrealistic to me. I loved the characters and the story and cannot wait to fall in love with them again in Little Dove. I honestly believe this is Jaden Wilkes best work yet and cannot wait to read more from her.
