A Stone in the Sea ~

He wanted nothing at all…

Until he found she had everything to give…

Sunder lead singer and guitarist Sebastian Stone has everything—fans, fame, and fortune. He also has a heart full of bitterness and a reputation for a short-fused temper. But an outward reputation rarely reveals the true man inside. Facing assault charges after trying to protect his younger brother, Sebastian is sent to Savannah, Georgia to lie low until the dust settles in L.A.

Shea Bentley is beautiful, kind, and hiding from the very lifestyle Sebastian has always embraced.

When the mysterious, tattooed stranger begins hanging out at the bar where she works, Shea is quick to recognize he is nothing but trouble, but she’s helpless to the way her body lights up every time his intense gray eyes tangle with hers.

They both soon find themselves drowning in a sea of desire and passion that won’t let them up for air.

Sebastian knows firsthand secrets never die, and he’s not the only one who’s hiding them.

Loving someone always comes with a price. But will it be Shea’s past that costs them everything?

Review

Generally I loathe cliff-hangers if only for the fact that I am as inpatient as they come and when that cliffy is preceded by one phenomenal storyline then it pains me even more, such is the case with A.L Jackson’s story of heartache, tragedy and fighting for love and sanity in a rock star world set against the back drop of a sensual and humid Savannah, Georgia.

Shea is the quintessential country girl with an immense work ethic and an innate sweetness, backbone and intelligence who is tackling life head on and mustering through the difficult times with her head held high and a heart full of love. Whilst working in her uncle’s bar she meets and befriends a mysterious aloof and beautiful stranger who is in hiding in her neck of the woods and who usually inhabits the same corner booth each night he graces her with his presence. It’s a sparkling and witty trek from friendship to more as Baz and Shea learn to overcome individual fears and insecurities as well as tackling those pesky inner-demons that often threaten our protagonists and hinder them from finding their Happily Ever After’s. A.L clearly has a calling when it comes to writing, almost from the word go you’re lulled and pulled in to the story, it’s clever and a fresh new perspective on the rock star genre because although Baz might have his humungous secrets, our girl Shea may just trump his.

While there may be a bit of mystery and tragedy and intrigue throughout A Stone in the Sea the pivotal arc is obviously the connection and romance between our two leads Shea and Baz. Their romance is like the Savannah heat languid but sexy, simmering and sensual, a slow burn but once it ignites there’s so much passion and heat and devastation and uncertainty.

‘His mouth came to my ear. “Do you see me?” Yes. Maybe not all of him. But every piece that was important. And I fell. Plunged into his abyss. Heart first. Through waves of ecstasy. Deeper. Deeper. To where I touched a sea of stars that blinded my eyes, where I floated in that place that belonged only to us, a place that didn’t belong to this world. Where darkness and light reigned and wrong and right had no bearing.’

A.L’s words often left me breathless, poetic and meaningful and so beautiful. The characters have so many dimensions to them, you peel back one layer and think you’re getting somewhere only for them to have so much more depth and turmoil in them especially Shea and Baz, so much strength and pain in them individually that together they might just be able to save each other. Even Baz’s friends bring a whole other level of comedy and banter to the table.

If you’re looking for a rock star plot with a different take on the usual and you don’t mind a bit of angst and turmoil and a rather sneaky *ahem* cliff-hanger then you definitely need to buy this book. Like right now.
