Synopsis

Luke Boone doesn’t know exactly what his uncle Rust is involved in but he wants in on it-the cars, the money, the women. And it looks like he’s finally getting his wish. When Rust hands him the managerial keys to the garage, they come with a second set-one that opens up the door to tons of cash and opportunity. Though it’s not exactly legal, Luke’s never been one to worry about that sort of thing. Especially when it puts him behind the wheel of a Porsche 911 and onto the radar of gorgeous socialite named Rain.

Clara Bertelli is at the top of her game-at only twenty-six years old, she’s one of the most successful undercover officers in the Washington D.C. major crime unit, and she’s just been handed a case that could catapult her career and expose one of the west coast’s most notorious car theft rings. But, in order to do it, she’ll need to go deep undercover as Rain Martines. Her target? The twenty-four-year old nephew of a key player who appears ready to follow in his uncle’s footsteps.

As Clara drifts deeper into the luxurious lifestyle of Rain, and further into the arms of her very attractive and charming target, the lines between right and wrong start to blur, making her wonder if she’ll be able to leave it all behind. Or if she’ll even want to.

Review

“You’re perfect. Almost too perfect. Sometimes I wonder if you’re even real.”

There is something about K.A. Tucker’s writing that gets to me like no one else. My first experience with her books was when I got a copy of Four Seconds To Lose on audio book and from the first moment I heard Sebastian York read the intro I was hooked. Becoming Rain, just like all the others since that first moment, grabbed me from the start and captivated me till the end.  What I love most about her books is that they are romantic without being trivial. They feel like they matter and that her words have real meaning behind them. Any reader (not just a romance reader) could pick this book up and become completely enthralled with the story!

“She’s everything I’m used to and yet completely new.”

Becoming Rain is a story about all the grey area in relationships. The grey of good people doing bad things, the grey of deciding the balance between your job and your desires and lastly the grey area of following your heart when your brain tells you it is wrong. Rain is on her first undercover assignment with the FBI and her task, get information on the car theft ring from Luke Boone. She must implant herself in Luke’s life and get him to trust her. But what happens when she finds out not all criminals are bad guys?

“I’m standing on the edge of a cliff right now, and I have no choice. I have to jump, even though the landing is going to hurt. But I know the fall be pure ecstasy.”

I was so emotionally attached to Luke, my heart ached for him. He is stuck in a hard place where he wants to impress his uncle, the closest man to a dad he has ever had, the man responsible for all the nice things he has in life and being the kind of person he can be proud to be. He was truly kind an sweet man and uber sexy to boot. I loved every minute I spent lost in this book with him.

“People hate it, but the world needs rain. It washes away dirt, dilutes the toxins in the air, feeds drought. It keeps everything around us alive.”

K.A. Tucker is an amazing writer and I will forever be eager and desperate for anything she writes. Becoming Rain took me on an emotional and exciting journey and my only wish is that I would be able to forget it all so I could read it for the first time all over again.

“I’d rather have the sun after a good, hard rainfall.”
