5 SMOOCHES!

SYNOPSIS:

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kristen Ashley brings a new novel in her River Rain series…

From a very young age, Chloe Pierce was trained to look after the ones she loved.

And she was trained by the best.

But when the man who looked after her was no longer there, Chloe is cast adrift—just as the very foundation of her life crumbled to pieces.

Then she runs into tall, lanky, unpretentious Judge Oakley, her exact opposite. She shops. He hikes. She drinks pink ladies. He drinks beer. She’s a city girl. He’s a mountain guy.

Obviously, this means they have a blowout fight upon meeting. Their second encounter doesn’t go a lot better.

Judge is loving the challenge. Chloe is everything he doesn’t want in a woman, but he can’t stop finding ways to spend time with her. He knows she’s dealing with loss and change.

He just doesn’t know how deep that goes. Or how ingrained it is for Chloe to care for those who have a place in her heart, how hard it will be to trust anyone to look after her…

And how much harder it is when it’s his turn.

REVIEW:

As a diehard, longtime, Kristen Ashley fan, I’m always excited for a new book from her, and I was really looking forward to Chasing Serenity after reading After the Climb. KA’s books are magic for me—the kinds of stories I can just sink right into. She builds these amazing worlds by richly developing the characters and paying careful attention to the details. It comes together into these wonderful stories that are easy for the reader to visualize, connect with and get lost in.

I loved everything about Chloe and Judge’s story. KA knows banter, and she does bickering, bantering couples brilliantly. This couple’s back and forth repartee was perfectly witty, snappy and smart—its own special brand of foreplay. Their chemistry sizzled, and the sparks were just flying whenever they were together. Chloe was a very independent heroine, and she’s been through some things, but she’s managed to hang on to her sass. Judge was a good man, and I loved his determination when it came to Chloe.

Chasing Serenity was a slow building opposites-attract love story, but boy, once that fire got going, it roared. KA tackled some tough subjects in this book with her usual grace, wisdom and care, and it made for a deeply engrossing story. Heart-tugging, heart-racing and heat filled, Chasing Serenity was a riot of emotions fueled by a firestorm of passion. I absolutely devoured this story, and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series. Five smooches from me for Chasing Serenity by Kristen Ashley.
