Synopsis

Zara Edgingway is a twenty-six year old secretary. She has a daughter that apparently knows it all and a best friend that could possibly have the mouth of Satan, but she’s been with her through hell and back. Then there’s the hunk’a’licious biker neighbor finally showing interest in her. If only she wasn’t about to face her next obstacle in life, the one she ran from six years ago; her ex-husband.

Talon Marcus is the president of the Hawks Motorcycle Club. For two years he’s had his eye on the quiet, reclusive, yet sassy, neighbor Zara. Finally, he has the chance to claim her as his woman. Just when her past catches up with her, she’ll need, not only his protection, but the help from his biker brothers.

Now, if only she’d stop fighting him along the way.

Review

This follows Zara and Talon. Zara is a single mother who lives near a biker compound and Talon is her “too-hot-to-touch” biker neighbour. Zara tries to keep herself to herself and avoid any contact with Talon or the biker compound after her embarrassing first meeting with them.

Talon decides that he wants Zara and nothing will stop him from getting what he wants, he invites himself to her house one evening, and when she answers the door she goes straight in for the kill and kisses her. Zara spends her time from there arguing with herself and her feisty friend Deanna, about why it isn’t a good idea to get involved with Talon. She doesn’t think he is what she needs, she doesn’t need complications as she has enough already from her past.

Something happens in the book that makes Zara want to run, but her brother, Deanna, Talon and his bikers would let that happen. They will do whatever is necessary to make sure that her and Maya her daughter are safe. “What do I have to do to prove this is happening between us? I want this, and I know you want this, no matter what crap you spew.”

Talon plays the role of alpha male really well in this book, what he says goes. But he also has the soft side of him that gets Maya ready for school and brushes her hair. He is the whole package. He will do whatever he can to make them all happy and safe. Zara has a feisty side to her that rarely comes out but when it does, it’s funny to read. She doesn’t take any nonsense, she gets straight to the point about what the problem is.

There is some twists in this book, some you see coming and some not at all. You get to see the lengths that Talon will go to, to get his family home safe. And you see the lengths that Zara will go to, to protect her daughter, Talon’s son and her family.

I really enjoyed this book. I couldn’t put this down, once I had started and I am really looking forward to Deanna and Griz’s book. Well done Lila Rose on a fantastic read and fantastic start to the series.
