Synopsis

Love is best served on the rocks.

My roommates look really good naked. At least one of them does. I’m sure the other one does too, but I haven’t seen him without his pants on. Living with two guys wasn’t something I’d ever considered, but the opportunity fell in my lap, and I’d have been crazy to turn it down.

College went by in a great big blur leaving me with less of a direction than I had going in. Add in a family that wanted nothing to do with me, and my post-college plans were less than clear. What’s a girl to do when she has nowhere else to turn? She moves to the Outer Banks and learns to bartend. After all, it was my horrible bartending skills that led me to my roommate’s bed and into his heart.

Review

“On The Rocks” is the second book in the “Mixology” series. Colin and Maddy from the first book of the series play a pretty big role in this story and though I had not read the first book, I found was able to follow “On the Rocks” just fine. That said, I recommend reading “Shaken Not Stirred” first as I think it would help readers to fully enjoy the next book.

Carly has finished college and after a big falling out with her family, she needs to get away for the summer! She runs to the only family member who has always had her back, her brother Colin. But with Colin’s girlfriend Maddy moving into his place, three is definitely a crowd! Maddy comes up with the perfect solution, Carly can move into her old room in the apartment she shares with her two friends Brody and Macon.

From the moment Macon and Carly lay eyes on each other, the sparks are flying! Unfortunately, Macon knows that Colin’s little sister is off limits for him. Carly is instantly attracted to Macon but his playboy reputation has her guard up. They both decide that since they are roommates they should just stay friends. With their strong mutual attraction, is being “just friends” possible?

This was a very sweet YA love story. The writing is great and the story flows really well. There really isn’t much conflict at all, especially between Macon and Carly, so if you’re looking for angst then you are in the wrong place. I would have liked to have rated it higher but there just wasn’t anything big that grabbed me in this book. Overall this was a quick and enjoyable read.
