It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time by Kylie Scott Review Tour With Excerpt

“Addictive like all Kylie Scott books, you’ll swoon, laugh, ache, put your life on hold, and compulsively read until the wee hours of the night—only to reread the whole thing the next morning. Perfection!” – Katy Evans, New York Times bestselling author

Returning home for her father’s wedding was never going to be easy for Adele. If being sent away at eighteen hadn’t been bad enough, the mess she left behind when she made a pass at her dad’s business partner sure was.

Fifteen years older than her, Pete had been her crush for as long as she could remember. But she’d misread the situation—confusing friendliness for undying love. Awkward. Add her father to the misunderstanding, and Pete was left with a broken nose and a business on the edge of ruin. The man had to be just as glad as everyone else when she left town.

Seven years later, things are different. Adele is no longer a kid, but a fully grown adult more than capable of getting through the wedding and being polite. But all it takes is seeing him again to bring back those old feelings.

Sometimes first loves are the truest.

It was meant to be a soft kiss. A chaste one, even.

The minute my lips touched his, however, everything changed. Callused hands grabbed the sides of my face and my mouth opened on a gasp. His tongue swept inside, taking me over. Holy hell. Shoes and purse hit the floor, forgotten. Nothing about this kiss was slow or easy. The man devoured me. Every ounce of emotion poured into that kiss, all of the anger and frustration between us. His tongue was teasing and tasting, driving me wild. Then he drew back to suck and nip at my bottom lip. One hand slid around the back of my neck, the other over my hip to grab at my ass. His hold was firm, a little rough even. He treated my body like it belonged to him and I wasn’t gentle either.

Apparently experience mattered. Because all I could do was try and keep up.

I held on tight to his open shirt, straining against him, trying to get closer. I’d have crawled inside the man if I could. Turned out that under certain circumstances, the taste of scotch worked for me in a big way. Against my hip, his cock hardened, digging into me. And oh my God, I’d done that to him. Me. How amazing! Meanwhile, my body felt liquid, core aching and empty. I needed him inside of me and it seemed like I’d already been waiting forever.

“Pete. Please.”

“Fuck,” he muttered, breath hot against my ear.

I fumbled at the remaining buttons on his shirt. My damn fingers didn’t seem to be working. Easier to just push the whole thing upward. Luckily, the man decided to help, tearing the shirt off over his head. More skin was good. And he was so hot and smooth, a thrill to the touch. The solid flesh of his pecs and the flat plane of his stomach.

He tore at the zipper on the back of my dress, dragging fabric down over my shoulders. A growl came from the back of his throat, a noise of frustration, impatience. I’m reasonably certain I heard the silk rip. I didn’t care. His hands and mouth seemed to cover every bit of skin revealed, touching and tasting me everywhere. The dress got stuck on my hips. Out of the way enough for now.

He didn’t even bother undoing my bra, simply peeling down one of the lace cups to free my flesh. My breast filled his hot palm as it took the weight. Fingers plumped me, his thumb flicking over my hard nipple. The sting of pain followed by the heat of his kiss made my head spin and my body ache. There was no room for thought as he fed me deep, wet kisses. Slowly, he took us to the floor. No time for anything else. Just the urgent need to have him inside me.

The hardness of the polished wood was cool against my back. My legs were spread, his body between them. And with his broad chest above me, his weight taken on one arm, he was all I could see. I swear even the insides of my thighs were wet, I was so ready. It would have been embarrassing with anybody else. But this man, he had to know, he had to understand. It had always been him.

“Pete, I need—”

“I know,” he said, voice harsh and low.

Review

I love Kylie Scott’s books and I was eagerly awaiting the release of this one. I was excited to see what she did with an age difference that large. The two had great chemistry but nothing was as easy as Adele had hoped.

I was blown away with the intense heat and steam in this book. Pete and Adele had an undeniable attraction. There was a lot attention on the age difference but after reading the blurb I very much expected that.

Overall, this was a highly enjoyable read. I love Kylie Scott’s voice and this book did not let me down.

**Keep your friends close and your enemies closer…**

I’ve hated Rachel Dawson since I was seven years old. My next door neighbor and number one sworn enemy, she’s the reason why almost all of our childhood fights ended with me setting something of hers on fire. (Or, vice versa.)

She snitched on me when I broke curfew.

I snitched on her when she lied about having a boyfriend.

We went back and forth like this throughout high school, both vowing to never talk to each other again when we went off to college.

But that was until she showed up at my apartment during my senior year and asked me for a temporary place to stay. Until I realized just how much between us had changed, and the line I thought we’d never cross became harder and harder to ignore…

About the Author:

Jodi Ellen Malpas wrote her debut series, The This Man Trilogy, in secret, worried about what people might think if they knew what her imagination was capable of. She was shocked herself. But she finally found the courage to unleash her creative streak and self-published THIS MAN – the first book of the This Man Trilogy – in October 2012. She took a chance on the story with a hero who soon became one of modern day fictions most prolific alpha male characters. Jesse Ward – also affectionately known as The Lord of The Manor, sparked incredible reactions from women across the globe and catapulted Jodi into the world of women’s fiction.

Jodi went on to self-publish the second book in the trilogy, Beneath This Man in Jan 2013, just before Grand Central Publishing, part of the Hachette Book Group, picked up the popular trilogy and the unknown Jodi. The third book of the trilogy, This Man Confessed, took Jodi to the top of the bestsellers lists, earning her the proud title of #1 New York Times Bestselling Author. This Man has since been voted one of the top romance novels of all time.

With so much love, enthusiasm and a thirst for her words from her readers, Jodi suddenly wasn’t afraid of her imagination anymore. She went on to write The One Night Trilogy with the delectable and mysterious Miller Hart, and stole the hearts of her readers once again. Her first stand-alone novel, THE PROTECTOR, released in September 2016 and has since been nominated for a Reviewers’ Choice Best Book Award. Jodi’s next stand-alone novel. THE FORBIDDEN, is set for release in August 2017.

All seven of her published novels have hit the New York Times best sellers list – as well as the Sunday Times list and various international best seller lists. Her work is now published in over 24 languages across the world.

Jodi was born and raised in the Midlands town of Northampton, England, where she lives with her two boys and a beagle. She is a self-professed daydreamer, a mojito addict, is famous for her obsession with Converse, and has a terrible weak spot for Alpha Males. Writing powerful love stories and creating addictive characters has become her passion – a passion she now shares with her devoted readers.

About TOO BAD SO SAD

Tyler Cree has never been good at the whole look and don’t touch thing.
From the moment he was old enough to walk on his own two feet, he’s been looking for trouble.
Trouble comes in many forms…quite a few of those forms being the female persuasion.
Tyler knows what girls want—a bad boy. And he has the bad boy image down pat.
Ex-military—check.
Hot cop—double check.
A bike between his legs and a devil may care attitude—oh, yeah.
All the girls want him, yet none of them will have him—at least not all of him, anyway. A certain appendage they can have all they want. His heart, however, is not up for grabs. The useless organ inside his chest was broken and battered, mutilated by the one woman he thought would keep it safe.
Spoiler alert: she ripped it to shreds and set fire to the pieces.
To protect himself, Tyler keeps everyone at arm’s length, and never lets anyone get too close.
Then Reagan Rose Alvarez barrels into his life, and trespasses on not only his property, but straight into his abused heart. One glance is all it takes, and he’s suddenly thinking about things he hasn’t thought for quite some time—thoughts that a man like him should never have about a woman like her.
One moment of weakness is all it takes, and suddenly he has no other choice but to go on the offensive.
Keeping her is the only other option now.
Turns out, his heart isn’t as broken as he thought it was.
The only problem is, now the little she-devil holds it in the palm of her hands, and she has no clue just how much power she holds.

REVIEW:

Each month, I love sitting down with Lani Lynn Vale’s next book. It’s like a regular visit with a group of old friends. She has created this huge, interconnected fictional world that I just can’t seem to get enough of. The Simple Man Series is Vale’s first second-generation series, and its roots are in her debut series, Freebirds, as these books center around the children of the lead couples from that series or, as Vale and her long-time readers refer to these characters, the Free Kids. Because of that connection, fan-favorite characters from previous series pop up throughout these books, and it’s a nice surprise for readers to catch a glimpse of those characters.

Something Vale does exceptionally well is write everyday heroes as her lead men. She’s written police officers, firemen, paramedics, and she writes them all so naturally and realistically that readers can’t help but fall for these good men. Too Bad So Sad features police officer, Tyler Cree. Tyler has never quite recovered from a painful, dual betrayal that left his heart in tatters. Reagan Alvarez, the daughter of Downey from Vale’s KPD-SWAT series, is a firecracker and one determined little lady, or well, she’s determined to drive Tyler crazy. Their back-and-forth bickering and bantering was hilariously refreshing and so much fun to read. They may have started out as adversaries, but their chemistry was so volatile that it literally sparked all around them and proved to be impossible to ignore.

Too Bad So Sad is another fabulous addition to a series full of fantastic stories. Entertaining with an edge of suspense, Vale worked her magic blending her crazy sense of humor with a fun, sexy romance. Five smooches from me for Too Bad So Sad by Lani Lynn Vale.

Wild Like The Wind by Kristen Ashley Review

5 SMOOCHES!

SYNOPSIS:

The brother known as Hound has a reputation. He’s all about cracking heads, having a good time, and when the Chaos Motorcycle Club needs someone to do the tough job, they call on him.

But Hound has a secret. He fell in love with a woman years ago. She’s untouchable. Unattainable. And even when her status changes, for Hound, it remains the same.

Keely Black had it all early and lost it all not long after. Thrown into an abyss of loss and grief, she’s faced a life of raising two sons alone and battling the rage at all that had been ripped from them.

And why.

Words spoken in anger open Hound’s and Keely’s eyes. For Hound, he sees he’s wasted his life loving the wrong woman. Keely sees she’s wasting her life not opening herself to the love of a good man.

REVIEW:

This book, this series, this author—to me, they’re everything. They’re not merely on my list of all-time favorite books, they are the ones at the top. There are very few days that go by where I don’t read at least some of Kristen Ashley’s words—it may just be a favorite scene or perhaps a chapter or two, and when I can, it’s a whole book or sometimes an entire series. But like a junkie needing her fix, I sneak in a bit of the awesomeness that is Kristen Ashley’s words, worlds and wisdom nearly every day.

I’ve seen a few reviews of this book where readers have said they wanted to reread Wild Like The Wind immediately upon finishing it, and I totally get that because that is exactly where I am right now. I’m just not ready to go. This book, in true Kristen Ashley and Chaos fashion, was brutal in its honesty, sugar coating not a single word. At times gut wrenchingly painful, at others heart achingly gorgeous, this book explores true, soul-deep love, love after loss, selfless and giving love, and it does it in the way that only Kristen Ashley through the bikers of Chaos can.

Hound and Keely’s story moved me, it wrecked me, and it put me solidly back together within the span of its 400 or so pages. Hound took me by surprise, though in all honesty, I shouldn’t have been the least bit surprised. Considering his position within Chaos, though, his sweet and gentle side was far more than I had been anticipating it would be. Plain and simple, he was a good man, despite his transgressions on behalf of his club, or maybe even because of them. I challenge any reader to read his story, experience the beauty of his actions and not melt into a puddle right there in their chairs. Keely lost it all, and stayed lost for a long time, a crying shame for a woman who had at one time burned so brightly. But Hound woke her up, and for her part, she gave to him as good as she got. Their story was gritty and raw, but it was real. While it wasn’t always easy to take, the two of them together were KA biker magic, tearing it up and wild like the wind.

If you haven’t read the Chaos series, stop what you’re doing and do it now. Start where it all began with Tack and Tyra’s story as told in Motorcycle Man, which is the final book in Kristen Ashley’s Dream Man series. It lays important groundwork for the whole Chaos series, and the history and backstory gleaned there will help connect some of the plot related dots throughout all the books of the Chaos series. I find myself in a very odd position right now. I’m excited and anticipating the next book in this series while trying to accept that it will also be the last one. I want that story more than anything, yet I also do not want to let go of this series, these characters and their stories. I am such an enormous fan of Kristen Ashley, and I’m grateful that through copious re-readings, I won’t have to do that, because my thirst for this world, these bikers and their babes will never be quenched. Five smooches for Wild Like The Wind by Kristen Ashley from me!

SYNOPSIS

On the day I turned fifteen years old I knew I loved James Blakney. There was a look in his eye that told me he’d finally noticed I existed in a realm beyond best-friend’s-much-younger-off-limits-don’t-even-think-about-it-little-sister. Call it womanly intuition, despite the fact I was barely qualified for being an actual woman at just fifteen—and only in the biological sense—but still, I knew I loved him.

What I never expected from him was a proposal of marriage nearly eight years later. I know it’s not supposed to be a real marriage, but James is certainly making it feel that way.

He’s also hiding something from me.

But I’ve hidden the truth from him as well.

Lies.

So many filthy lies.
