“Where are we going?” She turns a curious eye toward me, tilting her head to the side. I glance over my shoulder as I guide her a few steps away and around a corner.

“Trust me?” She nods, and I point to the closed door in front of us.

“The cloakroom?” she asks with a teasing smile.

“Shush,” I whisper, twisting the handle to see if it’s locked. It moves in my hand. I’m in luck.

I open the door wide enough for us both to slide inside, then leave it cracked a few inches so a sliver of light streams in. Aside from a few empty hangers on a rod, the room is bare.

“What are we doing in here?” Tessa asks, but her eager eyes give her away. She wants me as much as I want her.

“I need something from you before we join the others.” I lean forward and speak into her ear.

“What’s that?” she breathes.

“This.” I place my hands on her back. She shivers at my touch, following with a sweet sigh. My fingers trail over her velvety skin, lingering at the simple hook connecting her lone strap. If only we had more time. “Your skin’s so smooth and silky.”

I bend down and kiss her lips, and she returns it with a passion matching mine. Tessa links her fingers behind my neck, and we are lost in each other. Minutes later, when we both need to draw in a breath, I move my lips down her neck and over the exposed curves of her breasts.

“I want to taste all of you,” I say against her skin, and feel her pulse racing like mine.

Dropping to my knee, I bring my hands to the back of her toned legs, and trace the delicate skin behind her knees. Her muscles flex and release in anticipation. With a feather like touch, I inch up her thighs, finding the lacy edge of her panties. “Has anyone touched you here?”

“No one,” she blows out between labored breaths. She gazes down at me with eyes full of desire, but there’s a tentativeness in them I can’t ignore. My touches, and the promise of more between us, are new and unchartered territory for her.

I realize he’s teasing me in that low, terribly rumbly voice and I wish he would smile at me.

He takes my hand and fingers my palm with his thumb as he leads me to our suite.

I’m sizzling where he touches me, nervously prying my hand free when he leads me into the biggest, most spectacular two-bedroom penthouse suite I’ve ever seen. Not that I’d seen one before in person, only movies.

There’s a kitchen area, and windows from floor to ceiling. A living room, a pool table, gold brass chandeliers, a brown-and-beige-patterned carpet, dark woods, Italian leathers. Gorgeous! I could move in here.

Now I see the appeal but won’t admit as much.

Thinking of our bet, I pay attention to the art on the walls. It’s expensive. I can tell by the numbered print and the signature. Painters with indecipherable and artistic signatures are often the artists to watch. It’s like they know from the moment they paint their first work that they’re on to something big, something that will distinguish their work from all others.

I wish Cullen loved art as much as I do. Maybe I could drag him away from the tables to a local gallery.

“Wow. I could just live he—” I spin around and bump into his big warm body, and he bends his head and kisses my words right out of me.

Tessa arrives in New York determined to find a job so she can move out there for good and her best friend can come with her. What she wasn’t expecting was to also land a man…a very powerful, sexy, charming and older man. Barclay knows what he wants, and when he sees Tessa he wants her. But he thinks Tessa deserves more than what he can offer and when she turns up at his office as a new employee, something already complicated it’s about to become a lot more so. Will these two be able to navigate a no fraternizing rule, meddling families and realize that they might actually belong together?

A sweet, hot, sizzling and fun read – I really enjoy d Barclay’s and Tessa’s romance. A virgin meets an older and sexy man and then the drama and fun begins!

“No one would call me a wolf, at least not to my face, but I’ve never been labeled as an angel either.”

Tessa was really sweet, a little naive, young and ambitious. Probably someone people can relate to – leaving the family home, wanting to stand on her own and find her career. She was kind and determined if not a little too quick to fall in love! Barclay was a very strong, smart and determined man. Sexy and charming – a classic CEO boyfriend!

“All these dirty thoughts of her running through my head make one thing pretty damn clear: I could totally ruin her before she heads back to Alabama in a few days.”

This was a fun romance read with a lot of sexy scenes and drama and laughter thrown in to make the perfect recipe for a romance read. It was quite a quick read for me with the couple moving quite quickly – a bit of insta-love type feel which isn’t my favorite but I still really enjoyed it. The main characters were easy to like, and it was a very sexy read. Enough drama to keep you guessing about what was going to be thrown at the couple next and I wanted the HEA and to read the couples journey.

In any case, I can tell you one thing—it’s damn near impossible to convince the woman I can’t live without to take me seriously when I’m serving up burgers, half-naked, and women are constantly ogling my assets.

I’ve gotta try, though. Because Kai is the woman for me, and she’s perfect with Aya. I’ve just gotta get these man buns in gear and figure out how to win her over.

Review

I love Christina Lauren. They deliver wit and sex like no other. I loved the blurb for this one but was still hesitant because some of their more recent work I have loved more than others.

Hazel might be one of my favorite characters they have written, second only to Hannah from Beautiful Bastard. She is fun and quirky, but it never feels forced. Josh is dreamy and though they’ve veered in and out of each other’s lives over the years it was just as friends.

The banter and development of these two made this a unique story, and I will admit the end was not one hundred percent what I expected but this was still a five star read from this duo for me.

I don’t think there is another series I am as addicted to as the Eagle Elite, nor is there another that I am invested in as much. I have read and loved each and every one of the books in this series and they only seem to get better and better.

Oh Vic, he made me sad. But him with Renee gave me hope. I yearned for their stolen moments. Envy was packed full of heart, humor, action, and most importantly love. These characters fight hard but love harder and that is why I love them so much.

I realize he’s teasing me in that low, terribly rumbly voice and I wish he would smile at me.

He takes my hand and fingers my palm with his thumb as he leads me to our suite.
