Needing Him by Kennedy Fox Release Blitz with Excerpt

Evan Bishop is your typical hotshot doctor.
Hardass, brooding, and all business.

Instead of working on the family ranch, Evan broke the mold and became an ER doctor.
He’s good with his hands—in more ways than one—smart as a whip and is the definition of God’s gift to women. Being a gentleman is in his Southern roots, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t flawed. Exclusive dating has never been a top priority and his tragic past makes him stay at arm’s length. Deciding to let loose for a wild night, he takes a page from the Bishop brother’s relationship book and hooks up with a mysterious girl he’ll never have to see again, which is perfect for this self-proclaimed bachelor.

Emily Bell is a city girl through and through but is determined to get away from her family and past. All she wants is a fresh start and to make a name for herself in the medical field. No random hookups and no dating coworkers—that’s her new motto after being burned time and again. When she agrees to attend a wedding as a plus-one, she’s soon ditched and left to drink solo—but not for long. Mr. Suit is the ultimate temptation with his Southern charm, messy blond hair, and irresistible sex appeal. Everything about him screams bad news, but he makes her reconsider her rules just for one night.

After all, some rules are made to be broken.

They want the same thing—one night of passion then they’ll go their separate ways. No cuddling afterward. No next day phone calls. No awkward goodbyes. Too bad the universe has other plans—one that’ll be obvious when they report to work on Monday morning.

*A contemporary romance with a little Southern drama. This is book 2 in the Bishop Brothers series. Each book features a different brother and can be read as a complete standalone. HEA guaranteed!*
Not suitable for readers under 18 due to adult language and sexual content.

I caved.

Fuck me. I caved, and now he thinks he’s in control and God’s gift to the world.

Fucking great.

I won’t let him manipulate me with sex. He must not be that smart if he thinks that’s actually going to work. I said those things in the heat of the moment and because I really needed to fucking come, but that doesn’t mean I meant it. Hell, I would’ve told him the sky was purple if that meant he’d give me what I needed.

Regardless, that was really damn hot. The way I yelled at him, and he yelled back, and then we just attacked each other. Every moment of our first night together has replayed in my head since it happened, but now… angry Evan is the one who will haunt me in my dreams. Angry Evan is hot and demanding and knows just how to tease the fuck out of me. I almost hate him for it. Except I could never hate a man who knows how to worship my body like he does.

But God, does he really have to be such a controlling asshole?

I scoop my scrubs and shoes off the floor and adjust my just-fucked hair. Once my top is on, I search for my panties. When I don’t find them on the floor, I shake out my scrub bottoms, but they aren’t there either. What the fuck?

Panic starts to surface at the realization that I lost my damn panties. Shit, shit, shit.

My pager beeps, and it’s painfully obvious I’m going to have to put my pants on without them. Quickly, I finish getting dressed and push my shoes on before grabbing my lab coat and the soiled shirt and flying out the door.

I throw Evan’s shirt in the trash before anyone can see me and ask questions.

Rushing to the nurses’ station for an update, I look around but don’t see any commotion or people scrambling like normal. “What’s going on? You paged me?” I ask, trying to catch my breath.

Fiona looks at me like I’ve gone crazy. She swallows and lowers her eyes before bringing them back up to look at me. She witnessed the heated argument back in the trauma room, and now she looks uncomfortable as hell. “Dr. Bishop asked me to page you. He wanted me to tell you that your break is over and to get back to work.” I can tell she’s uneasy delivering the news, but that doesn’t stop the anger from brewing inside me.

The vein in my forehead is about to burst, but I remind myself to play it cool. For all they knew, Evan sent me on the break to calm down, and now I’m the one looking like a slacker.

“Okay. Thanks.” I pinch my lips together to prevent any further words from spewing out of me. No one can know that Evan and I are…whatever the hell we are. Considering I came to this hospital to make a name for myself all on my own, the last thing I need is people thinking I sleep my way to the top.

Crap.

“Dr. Bell,” Evan barks from the other side of the room. He’s holding a pile of charts in his hands that are no doubt from the huge fire incident that just unfolded.

Taking a deep breath, I put my lab coat on and dig my stethoscope from the pocket and wrap it around my neck. We have to act impartially to each other publicly, but hell, I didn’t realize how hard it’d be now that we’re together.

“Yes, Dr. Bishop?”

He doesn’t even look up at me when I approach him, and I hate that it irritates me.

“I need you on beds seven through fifteen until the next shift rotation, then finish these charts before you leave.” His head tilts up, his lips in a firm line as he piles the stack in my arms. “I also need an update on the Brauer kids once an hour.”

Swallowing, I adjust the charts in my arms to prevent them from falling. I won’t let my pride get in the way of doing my job, and if charts are what I need to do right now, then I won’t make a scene. At least not in front of everyone. However, once we’re alone, I’m going to give him a piece of my mind for treating me like a damn intern again.

“Absolutely. Anything else, sir?” My tone is laced with fake sweetness, and he doesn’t flinch a beat at it.

“Yes, actually.” He takes a step forward and dips his head until his mouth hovers over my ear. “Make sure those charts are done correctly before you leave. I’ll be looking through them extensively.”

“Of course.” I grind my teeth, wishing I could give him a piece of my mind right now.

“And since I know you’re going commando, I won’t ask you to perform any oral procedures.” He winks before walking away, making my blood boil.

That asshole stole my panties!

Exclusive Excerpt:

“Are you blind?! What kinda call was that?” AJ hollers at the ump behind home plate while the crowd around us boos and screams their frustration at the horrible call.

“Dude, your girl is vicious. Remind me not to get on her bad side,” Dylan mumbles to me as we watch AJ rant at the umpire.

“No shit,” I reply, shocked that such harsh words just came from my sweet little schoolteacher’s mouth. “It’s kinda hot, though.”

“Definitely,” my brother replies quietly. “Did you see how many hotdogs she ate?”

“More than you.”

“More than you and me combined, bro. A woman who looks like that, talks like a sailor, and can hold her own in a hotdog eating contest? Marry her, dude.”

I snort in reply, merely because I’m afraid if I open up my mouth right now, I might actually propose. If I was falling in love with this woman before today, well, seeing her in my element, trash talking, and burping warm beer has pretty much sealed the deal for me. There’s no doubt in my mind that I’ve fallen head over heels in love with AJ Summer.

“Can you believe that call? What kinda horseshit is that? A blind monkey humping a football could have seen the tag! He was out by a mile,” she seethes, her eyes burning with fire and passion.

“I saw,” I tell her, wrapping my arm around her shoulders and pulling her into my side. “Horrible call.”

“The worst,” she grumbles.

“You’re scaring the big burly guys behind us, honey,” I tease.

She glances over her shoulder at my words. “You mean Bill and Tom? Shit, who do you think taught me those bad words?” she asks, making me laugh. “They really appreciated the autographs, though,” she adds. As soon as the Rangers fans sat down behind us before the game started, they recognized me and started chatting. I signed a few autographs for them and a handful for others in the vicinity.

REVIEW:

I’ve been a fan of Lacey Black’s since the release of her debut novel, Trust Me, when I fell in love with the small town of Rivers Edge and the Stevens clan. Small town romances, and especially ones centered around a big family with lots of siblings finding their happily ever afters, are among my favorite romances to read. Without hesitation, it’s Lacey Black who always comes to mind first when that’s what I’m looking to read. The unique way she captures life in a small town, coupled with a big family and some sweet, sexy love stories, leap to life on the page for a truly special reading experience.

Set in the small, beach town of Jupiter Bay, My Kinda Player is the fifth book in the series, and it focuses on the middle Summer sister, AJ, and new resident, former pro baseball player, Sawyer. AJ is a middle school math teacher, and Sawyer has just relocated to Jupiter Bay for a fresh start. Unbeknownst to AJ, that fresh start includes a job as the middle school PE teacher and baseball coach. This couple has off-the-charts chemistry, but they’ve also both been burned by previous relationships. That underlying attraction was a powerful thing, though, and they were both falling pretty hard and fast—until Sawyer’s viper of an ex, also a Victoria’s Secret model, blows into town to execute her own Fatal Attraction-inspired reconciliation. A steady dose of the hilariously inappropriate grandparents’ antics along with plenty of interaction from AJ’s big, boisterous family, along with a Rivers Edge series crossover in the form of Sawyer’s cousin, Maddox, makes My Kinda Player another solid winner from Lacey Black in a series full of them.

My Kinda Player was such a fun and sexy love story. I devoured it, my heart happy and a smile on my face, the whole way through. I enjoyed every minute of this charming, amusing and steamy romance, and I can’t wait to return to Jupiter Bay for the next Summer sisters’ book. Five smooches from me for Lacey Black’s My Kinda Player!

EXCERPT:

FLYNN:

I part my lips to speak, to tell her I’m not a VC. But I flash back to the racquetball game, to the face-lift suggestion from my sister. If this angel thinks I’m a VC, that means my face-lift is working. My costume is doing what I want it to do—it’s making it possible for me to be me. To have a conversation as Flynn Parker the guy, not as Flynn Parker the multimillionaire.

She doesn’t know who I am. And I don’t correct her. “It can be.”

She nods thoughtfully then roams her gaze over my black attire. She taps her bottom lip. “Hmm. Let’s see what we have here tonight because I don’t think you’re a ninja.”

I punch the air. “Keep going.”

She studies me more closely. “You’re something mysterious. You’re trying to fly under the radar. Am I getting warmer?”

More like hot. “Yes.”

Her brow knits. “You want to go unnoticed, at least for the moment.”

I tense, hoping she’s not putting two and two together as to my identity. Absently, I raise my hand to my glasses, wondering if they give me away. But then I remember. I’m wearing my contacts tonight, something I rarely do.

She snaps her fingers. “I know! You’re a stealth start-up,” she says, using the term for a new company that’s keeping quiet.

I raise my arms in victory, a thrill racing through me. “Everyone else has guessed code ninja or SEO ninja, but you’re the first person all night to get it right. I am, indeed, a stealth start-up.”

Admittedly, donning black pants, a black shirt, and a black eye-mask might have made it challenging to guess. But then again, the angel figured it out, and all without the missing start-up button.

“Your lips gave you away.”

She recognized me from my lips? I furrow my brow behind my mask. “What do you mean?”

“Your mouth,” she says, raising her fingers dangerously near to my lips. “I could tell you weren’t a ninja because your lips aren’t covered. Ninjas cover you’re their mouths.” I relax again since she was referring to my clothes. “Only their eyes show. But you’ve covered most of your eyes, and you’re showing only your mouth and your chin. That’s how I knew you had to be something other than a ninja.”

“I could kiss you for that,” I blurt out. I take a step back and hold up a hand. “I’m sorry. That was probably terribly inappropriate.”

A smile slowly spreads across her lips. “No, it wasn’t inappropriate. It wasn’t inappropriate at all,” she says. Something in the way she takes her time with each word tells me she wouldn’t mind being kissed. That gives me one mission and one mission only: keep talking to this angel.

the nerd protagonists she details in Come as You Are. Their chemistry

REVIEW:

For me, diving into a Lauren Blakely novel is unlike any other reading experience. Whether it’s one of her authentic feeling male point-of-view romcoms or one of her sexy, swoony contemporaries, there are a few things that always happen for me whenever I pick up one of her novels. I learn cool new things that I didn’t know before I started, her attention to detail never fails to impress me, and I fall helplessly in love along with the characters. I consistently get lost in her stories, wrapped up not only in the romances, but also in the worlds she builds. Her red-hot, heart-racing love affairs are engaging on their own, but she takes these stories to another whole level by layering fascinating tidbits of information, vividly depicted scenery and charismatic characters that all blend perfectly with the core love plot into a magical adventure for a romance reader.

Come as You Are takes a completely fresh approach to the workplace trope with a romance between a word-nerd reporter covering a subject in what she hopes will become her new beat and the hot-nerd, tech genius CEO focus of that story. Blakely further distinguishes this story by giving it a modern-day Cinderella spin and setting it in quintessentially romantic New York City. Instead of the typical coworker clash, she poses an ethical dilemma to this couple that turns what had been a very promising, fairytale worthy start into a bittersweet memory and an opportunity that, unfortunately, must be passed on. Chemistry is a powerful thing, though, and these two were so combustible, it was exploding off the page. But it wasn’t just physical attraction between them. Flynn and Sabrina were kindred spirits, connecting on so many different levels and fitting together in exceptional, once-in-a-blue-moon ways—not just against a wall in a library during a masquerade ball, although they fit rather well there, too.

Blakely delivers a steady stream of feels here, only they’re not the angst-fueled, gut-wrenching emotions romance readers are accustomed to experiencing. This author’s writing is more of a hopeful, feel-good style, with just enough conflict to challenge the couple, and that is a rare combination in this genre. It’s even more rare to pull that off as consistently as she does, and it’s what makes her stories addictively light-hearted, pleasure reads—a quality that is pure Lauren Blakely and speaks volumes about her approach to romantic storytelling. Make no mistake, though, I soared high with Sabrina and Flynn during their initial encounter and was staggered by the same disappointment they suffered the next day when realization dawned as a result of their identities. I felt their wistful longing for each other while they worked together during their frequent “not-date dates,” and I shared their genuine excitement over the mere promise of this relationship, something that they both tried desperately—and failed—to bury. I was right there with them, frustrated that something with so much personal potential was also fraught with such professional peril. I marveled right along with Flynn and Sabrina at each new discovery about the other person and their beloved city.

Speaking of discoveries, Come as You Are was filled to the brim with quirky and fun facts that added depth and originality to the story while also forming the foundation of this couple’s shared history. Events, landmarks, games, inside jokes—these are some of the things that give Blakely’s couples their own distinct identities and personalities. These little surprise details added so much charm to the fabric of Flynn and Sabrina’s story, and Blakely is a master at not only finding this intriguing material but also weaving it into her tales.

Come as You Are was enchanting and entertaining, and I was utterly charmed and thoroughly captivated by Flynn and Sabrina’s sweet, sexy romance. I positively devoured this book, happily swooning on my sofa the entire way through. Five smooches from me for Lauren Blakely’s Come as You Are !

Carson and Melody quickly realize there is undeniable chemistry between them, no matter how hard they try to ignore it. Carson gives in to his strict “no dating” rule during baseball season and Melody allows Carson into her private world.
Falling hard and fast, everything is seemingly perfect until a piece of Carson’s past blindsides the couple. Devastated, Melody must decide if their love is enough to move forward or if she’ll only resent Carson for the rest of her life.

Review

Melody loves her baseball and attends all home game; little did she know that she was quite literally going to be part of action when she gets hit by a foul ball by the new rookie in the majors, Carson Lawrence. Carson can’t believe he’s hit a fan and can’t help but check on her in the hospital but what he doesn’t expect is for this beautiful young women to knock him off his feet. There is instant attraction and connection between them and all is seemingly going well until the past comes up and bites them both. Will Melody be able to move past what she’s learnt or will it prove to be the end?

“You have really pretty sparkly green eyes and a beautiful smile. And if you want me to be honest, I kind of dig the purple under your eyes.”

This was an enjoyable sport romance read with an unexpected turn that took this from just a sweet romance to a “OMG did not see that coming” plot twist. The story also had great lead characters and support characters which I could really root and cheer for so this made for an overall great read!

“You don’t date during baseball season, you can’t break your rule.” “I’ll just bend it a little, sweetheart.” I winked. I knew I shouldn’t push this and say just goodbye to her tonight, but I have a feeling that not seeing her again will not be an option.”

I loved Melody- she was such a wonderful young woman. Despite suffering through a tragic loss she has still managed to be a happy and kind young woman who wants to help others and just embrace life. Carson was a bit cocky (major baseball player though so can you blame him?) but not enough for him to come across as obnoxious. He had worked hard to get where he now was and you could feel his attention for Melody coming off the page; I loved how much he wanted Melody and how he was willing to ignore his no dating rule because he just knew Melody would be worth it.

“This isn’t casual, and I’m a fool to believe that I can keep it that way until October. She has gotten under my skin and I’m certain I’ll never get my fill. I need this girl.”

I loved how this was a slow burner romance to start off with where we followed Melody and Carson through their meeting to them developing a relationship; this part was sweet, sexy, funny and just nice to read. Then out of nowhere we have this big plot twist that takes it from a sweet and funny romance to a more intense story and you are left wondering will they or won’t they which came at exactly the right spot in the story. I enjoy a romance but I always need something a little extra; a bit of drama or sadness or suspense and this story definitely delivered for me. A great first read from this author and I really hope Lexi gets a story!

Mister Tonight by Kendall Ryan Cover Reveal

We are thrilled to bring you the cover for MISTER TONIGHT the swoony new romantic standalone from New York Times bestselling author Kendall Ryan releasing on JUNE 18th!

From New York Times bestselling author Kendall Ryan comes a standalone romance about a swoony single dad and the new neighbor he falls for.

Last night was the most embarrassing night of my life.

I was THAT girl.

You know, the highly intoxicated chick celebrating her thirtieth with her two best friends—the ones who are happily married. And the more I drank, the more I wanted to do something reckless to celebrate.

By reckless, I meant the sexy and alluring man dressed in a business suit standing near the bar. You know his type—tall, dark, and handsome. I was sure he was out of my league, but I’d had just enough alcohol that things like that no longer seemed to matter. I’m not fat, mind you, but you can tell I like French fries, so there’s that.

He took me home and I enjoyed the hottest birthday sex of my life, well until it came to a screeching, and rather unwelcome halt.

There’s nothing quite like being interrupted mid-ride with a little voice asking:

“What are you doing to my daddy?”

Just kill me now…… or so I thought.

Come to find out the man I rode like a bull at the rodeo is my new landlord.

PROLOGUE

Damp.

Dark.

Dead.

Words keep flitting through my mind on an endless loop, trying to pull me into the darkness hovering on the fringes of my mind. It would be easy, so easy to let go. To give in, give up…

Stop the endless fighting.

What’s the point anyway?

This time I won’t get out alive. Last time was messy. This time is meticulously planned. The intention clear, I was not to make it out of here alive.

I have always known this would happen and yet, I’ve given in to hope, to love, to the idea of a new beginning for someone like me… Boy, was I wrong.

Duncan.

One name among thousands, but the only thing keeping me sane right now. I should have never given in; I should have been stronger.

But he wore me down. It wasn’t just his looks—even though his resemblance to a Viking god sure helped. Tall and muscular with blue eyes reminiscent of the Australian ocean, or a mountain lake, with his clear and honest stare. The one thing that made me fall hard and fast was his smile. The prefect reflection of who he is—charming, strong, honest, and wickedly funny.

He was the first person who was able to make me genuinely smile with true joy after months of going through the motions.

He made me feel alive again. And now I’ve lost it all… and he doesn’t even know how much he means to me. My last words to him being the cruelest I ever uttered. It’s a good thing I won’t have to live long with myself after what I’ve done.

I picture his face in all its glorious detail. I want the last thoughts I have be of the best thing that’s ever happened to me. The one who healed me, taught me to love, gave me strength to fight, and always believed in me.

The one who taught me how to fly.

While I picture the love of my life holding me in his arms, the door opens slowly and in walks my worst nightmare. I don’t try to fight my restraints. I already did, and there is no way to get out of these handcuffs.

Instead, I keep hold of my saving grace while my grim reaper walks toward me.

I concentrate on how Duncan’s lips felt against mine, how he worshiped my body, my scars.

I tune out the sound of the gun being cocked. I always hoped my ending, when it came, would be quick and painless—at least I will be given that.

I keep my eyes closed and my mind firmly in my fantasy, where I’m loved and happy, and not in this dark and empty prison.

Briefly, I wonder if anyone will ever find my body or if they will have to bury an empty coffin.

Suddenly, my chin is grabbed in a painful and unforgiving hold.

“Did you actually think you’d get away this easily? You fucking bitch, you ruined my life! I was going to have it all before you had to go and fucking leave!”

The pain in my jaw forces my eyes open. They collide with eyes, the deepest brown they look black, staring back at me. But none of the warmth I’ve seen before is present right now. All I see is an abyss of hatred, madness, and cold determination.

I guess it won’t be quick after all. I close my eyes again. Hoping against hope for peace.

“Ah no, darling. You don’t want to miss what comes next. I have plans for you. And I need you present to enjoy them.”

A menacing smile spreads across the face in front of me.

“Let’s have some fun…”
