REVIEW:

I’m a huge fan of Meghan Quinn’s writing. I love her style, her sense of humor, and she has an uncanny ability to take me by surprise with the emotion she peppers into her romantic comedies. They’re just so funny, and yet suddenly, when I’m least suspecting it, I get walloped in the feels. I love it. I love that she can still do this to me, time after time, even after how many of her books I’ve read. The thing is, I know it’s coming. I know this is going happen, I know it, and yet still it happens. That’s rare, that’s special, and that’s why she’s a consistent auto-buy author for me.

Three Blind Dates was fresh, fun and full of feels. I adored this story! The premise was fantastic, the characters were interesting and I couldn’t help but pull for Noely right from the start. This was also different from anything else she’s ever written – the hero is not identified conclusively until the last 20% of the book. It’s not a triangle (or a square, I guess, in this situation) – not at all, so all of you safe-read readers, take a deep breath and calm. What it is, though, is a hilarious, heart-tugging peek into today’s dating-by-app world. I’m well past that point in my life, long (but happily) married, and I was riveted in place, devouring this book.

The way that Quinn crafted this story was clever and interesting. I loved her Tom Hanks and You’ve Got Mail references. Those descriptive, creative details made this a story that I not only related to, but they also helped to construct those scenes in my head. But it was Quinn’s writing here that truly captivated me. The way she lays out a scene and makes me feel as if I’m right there, in the thick of it, roaring with laughter, or feeling the hurt of rejection, right along with her characters. It’s brilliant, it was exciting, and I was positively enthralled and fully invested in this story from cover-to-cover.

Meghan Quinn’s Three Blind Dates was a refreshingly different, slow-burn romance that I simply did not want to put down. It was a fabulously well written standalone romcom that left me desperately wanting the stories of the other two suitors – and I am very much looking forward to getting my hands on them. Three Blind Dates by Meghan Quinn gets five smooches from me!

Jules is desperate to keep her uncles wedding planning business going so takes up the highly difficult task of pulling off the wedding of the century in a short time….and throwing cake at the brides brother isn’t going to help make it any easier. Jake isn’t best pleased with this first and quirky wedding planner but doesn’t have any other option- Little did he expect to start falling for her. Jules and Jake both have pain and sadness in their past so don’t want anything serious…the thing about love is though sometimes you have no choice in the matter!

“Someday, Jake, love will find you. And when it does, you won’t have a choice but to accept it.” “I will always have a choice.” She shook her head. “Just wait and see,” she said almost wistfully. “Just wait and see.”

This had all the right ingredients to make a perfect romance read! The characters were so relatable and likeable and I feel for them pretty much straight away. We also had the romance, laughter, chemistry, sadness and heartache needed to create an all round brilliant romance read that keeps you hooked!

“We kissed and kissed and kissed until we both needed air, until our lips tingled, until we couldn’t stand not being naked.”

Jules was a sweet and quirky heroine that I instantly connected to. She just seemed like the type of person you would want as your friend- you could tell that she cared deeply for those she loved and had an inner strength when things got tough. Jake was also instantly likeable – he was sexy and cocky but also vulnerable. I couldn’t help but admire and feel for him in the way he took on guilt that wasn’t even his.

“You have to. You’re the only one who can. He blames himself for something he shouldn’t, and one day it’s going to break him. You have to help him.” “I don’t think I can. I don’t know how.” “Jules, Mimi told me you did. Please don’t give up on him.” “I have to,” I whispered. “That’s what he wants.”

Kim Karr never disappoints with her romance reads and this is no exception. The chemistry and steamy scenes between the two characters was hot and sexy. The romance has an intense build that keeps you hooked needing to know that it will lead to a HEA and we have the heartache (true love is never an easy ride) that has you crossing your fingers it will work out. Overall just a really good romance read that had everything I could want in this genre of story!

Nik took the towels out of her hands and placed them on the dryer. “Hey, come here,” he said as he reached for her hands. “Talk to me.”

She wasn’t ready to, not least because she didn’t understand the swirl of feelings sweeping through her. To put into words for Nik exactly how that felt was impossible. “I’m fine, I’m good. I just have a lot to do here now.”

Nik placed his finger under her chin and raised her eyes so she was forced to look at him. “I think we can safely say that lies have no place between us. So, I’ll tell you what I’m thinking, and then you can tell me what you’re thinking. Okay?”

Jenny sighed and nodded. “Okay.”

“I didn’t come here tonight expecting to kiss you like this. I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t thought about it, but I know I have a lot of work to do to prove myself to you. Well, it sums up my view on life. That we should all aspire to live a life that is less boring, less predictable. Be bold, and do something amazing. I’ve made some crazy choices. I’ve been a car maker, a consultant, and even a senior executive at a large retailer running strategy. Born in England, spent time in the U.S. and Japan, before ending up in Canada were I met my own, personal hero – all six and a half feet of him. Both of us are scorpios! Yeah, I know! Should have checked the astrological signs earlier, but somehow it works for us. We have two amazing kids, who I either could never part with or could easily be convinced to sell on e-bay.

Review

This book was a second chance lovers dream. If you are like me and love to see old wounds slowly heal and for all the pain that two lost loves hide away come to the surface and boil over before healing and learning to love again, then you are in for a treat!

Nikan and Jenny had a love for the ages when they were both in foster homes. They lived the hardest lives possible before they were even grown but it was going to be okay because they had each other. Then as they ages and he came to fame everything changed. Let me tell you why this is one of my absolute favorites by Scarlett Cole. Without giving away spoilers let me tell you that the subject matter is hard, their story is so full of pain that it is not an easy fix. But that is what I loved most about it. When Jenny arrives back in town she doesn’t easily welcome her lost love back into her life. They both have to work t become friends again before it ever goes anywhere else. It is that slow burn kind of love that just resonates in your soul and makes it impossible to put the book down.

NIkan Rebuilt is a book that even a week later has not left me. I am still thinking about it and the more I think on it the more I am in love with what the author gave us. So many books nowadays are written too safe which makes them all read so similar to me. But NIkan Rebuilt tackles problems often skimmed over and does so in a way that had me falling harder for Scarlett Cole than I already had. I love this entire series of standalones, but Nikan now holds a special place in my heart that is going to be hard to beat.
