The Proposition by ELizabeth Hayley Release with Excerpt

Professional hockey player Ben Williamson doesn’t quite know how he got himself into this situation; hiring someone to be his date to his brother’s wedding is way out of character for him. But with family pressuring him to settle down, going stag just isn’t an option. It would just be one more thing his polite, cultured family uses as ammo against him.

Ryan Cruz is having a bad day. Wait, make that a bad year. Broke, technically homeless, and living on a friend’s couch, she’s now also unemployed after her sharp tongue gets her fired from her job. So when a handsome stranger approaches her out of the blue with a proposition–he’ll pay her to be his date to his brother’s wedding for the weekend–accepting his offer is a no brainer. She needs the cash and figures it wouldn’t be in the best interest of a professional athlete to murder her.

What starts as a simple business arrangement soon becomes more as these opposites attract and get caught up in the wedding magic. Will Ben and Ryan be able to turn their relationship into something more? Or is love based on a proposition too much of an obstacle to overcome?

“All right, all right,” Gabe said. “I’ll be serious and help you.”

“Thank you,” Ben said, happy he had the support of both his best friends. The three had been practically inseparable since they’d met in college and roomed in the athletic dorm. All three had been lucky enough to play professionally, Gabe as a shortstop for Philadelphia and Jace as a quarterback for New Jersey. His friends’ close proximity to one another was the reason Ben chose to get an apartment in Philly and spend his time here in the off-season. “I knew you were kidding when you mentioned the bet, but—”

“I wasn’t kidding. I have an idea that might work.”

“No,” Ben said sternly.

“Didn’t you learn anything from me, Torres?” Jace asked Gabe. Now that the bet they’d made last summer was behind them, they could all joke about it. But a year ago, it would have been a different story. Jace had nearly lost Aly when the three friends had competed to see who could bring the hottest date to an awards ceremony. Jace had unexpectedly fallen hard for the beautiful doctor, but all of that had almost crumbled when she’d learned he’d initially asked her out because of a bet.

“Okay, I get why doing a bet again would be a bad idea, but I do think that finding some arm candy as a distraction is a solid plan. A buddy of mine brought some chick he met at an airport to his parents’ anniversary party, and everyone thought they’d been dating for months.”

Ben was skeptical. “Like a fake girlfriend? There’s no way that’ll work.”

“I don’t know, man,” Gabe said. “It might. The secret to a good lie is you gotta believe it yourself.”

“You’re so wise,” Ben said flatly.

“I’m serious,” said Gabe. “The chick I was telling you about ended up getting my buddy’s grandmother’s crab cake recipe, and that shit’s for family only.”

“Just to make sure I’m understanding you right, I should believe you because of a crab cake recipe?”

Jace raised his eyebrows at Ben and Gabe. “It’s actually not a bad idea.”

Ben rolled his eyes. “Not you too.”

“You got any better ideas?” Jace asked. When Ben was silent, Jace continued. “I didn’t think so. There’s a decent chance this could work. We just need to figure out who to get to pretend to be your girlfriend. You’re gonna be up there for a few days.”

Ben rubbed a hand over his forehead in frustration. “I don’t know. Fuck. No one’ll want to spend that much time with my family. A few hours with them is more than enough.”

“She doesn’t have to want to spend time with them,” Gabe said, a look in his eyes that told Ben he was up to something Ben was probably going to want no part of.

“Should I even ask what you’re talking about?” Ben said.

“Probably,” Gabe said. “Because I have the answer to your problem.”

Ben looked at him expectantly, but when he realized that wasn’t enough, he said, “Fine, you’re really gonna make me ask, aren’t you? Why doesn’t it matter if she doesn’t want to be there?”

A smile spread across Gabe’s face. “Because you’re gonna pay her,” he said simply.

“Like a prostitute?” Ben replied.

“Not a prostitute,” Gabe said. “An escort.”

Elizabeth Hayley is actually “Elizabeth” and “Hayley,” two friends who love reading romance novels to obsessive levels. This mutual love prompted them to put their English degrees to good use by penning their own. The product is Pieces of Perfect, their debut novel. They learned a ton about one another through the process, like how they clearly share a brain and have a persistent need to text each other constantly (much to their husbands’ chagrin).

They live with their husbands and kids in a Philadelphia suburb. Thankfully, their children are still too young to read.

Elizabeth Hayley’s writing motto is best captured by the words of Patrick Dennis: “I always start with a clean piece of paper and a dirty mind.”

Review

It has been a while since I have read an Elizabeth Hayley book and boy am I regretting missing some of their recent stuff. This fantastic duo has always been a favorite of mine. Their style of humor is right on par with what I personally find funny and their stories have never failed to engage me and leave me eager to desperate to get my hands on more of their books.

The Proposition revolves around Ben, a sexy AF hockey player who needs a date to his brother’s wedding to keep the family meddling at bay. His friends, always a trustworthy source, decide that good ole Ben just needs an escort for the wedding to pretend to be his girlfriend (no hanky panky just business). That way his family will lay off and he won’t be leading some random girl on. What he expects to be a simple way out of a tough situation turns out to be so much more.

The Proposition was a great twist on a plot we’ve all read. Fake girlfriend books have long been favorites of mine but this one tops the list. With the escort twist and the face that Ben is a hockey player I just could not get enough.

Sexy Motherpucker by Lili Valente Review

4.5 SMOOCHES!

SYNOPSIS:

When the family dog trots in with my diaphragm in its mouth—in front of my date, his parents, and his adorable little girl—you would think I’d hit rock bottom.

WRONG.

Let’s back this up a sec…

Brendan Daniels is the sexiest man alive. The captain of the Badger’s NHL team is also clever, kind, funny, and was my good friend…until we cruised out of the friend zone one weekend with a red-hot fling. Come Monday morning, I wanted to keep riding the Big O train to happy town, but Brendan wanted someone who was “stepmom” material.

A.K.A, not me, apparently.

The problem? I’m crazy in love with him and his daughter. So when he asks me to be his pretend girlfriend for a long weekend with his former in-laws, I say yes. We’re still friends, after all, and friends don’t let friends fake it alone.

***

Laura Collins is the last woman I should be thinking about taking in the back seat of my car, in the woods behind my in-laws’ house, or in a hotel room where we’re sharing one very small, very squeaky bed.

I need a steady, stable influence for my daughter, not a fling with this too wild, too young, too impulsive red head. So what if she’s beautiful and intense and passionate and has the biggest heart I’ve ever known?

I don’t want to fall in love. I really don’t. The whole “pretend girlfriend” thing was supposed to solve my problems, buy me a little more time.

But when it comes to Laura?

Hell, maybe I’m just not cut out for faking it.

REVIEW:

Every time I’ve picked up a book by Lili Valente, I’ve enjoyed myself. This was the third book of hers that I’ve read—the second one of this series—and it left me wanting more. Her writing is smart and witty, the romances she pens are sweet and sexy. I love the hockey, I love sports romances, and I can’t wait to dive back into this series.

This was definitely a sports romcom, but even amidst all of the heat and the humor, Ms. Valente managed to deliver a few blows to the feels here as well. This couple had a lot to overcome between Brendan’s grief and Laura’s commitment issues. But Valente’s words brought to life a couple I cheered for right from the start and gave voice to a love story that was genuine, hard-earned and sexy.

Why? Why does he have to magically appear in my life? Moving back to Binghamton, I thought about the possibility of maybe running into him, but I thought it unlikely, something that would never really happen.

Boy, was I wrong.

What a sick joke life is playing on me.

Aaron Walters, the boy who broke me into pieces is my neighbor.

I can’t fathom the impact I feel already.

Seeing him in hip-hugging jeans and a tight, plain shirt did a number on me. It kept me up all night as memories of what we used to have flooded my mind.

His voice.

His stature.

The way he used to kiss my neck.

The way I felt so protected in his arms.

Too bad his arms couldn’t protect me from his devastating, heart-breaking self.

And hell, he looked good. Too good.

He’s always been tall with handsome features and a chiseled jaw, but now he’s bulked up to the point that I could see his abs flexing under his shirt, the same shirt that stretched over his biceps.

But it wasn’t his muscles or handsome features that once again made my heart ache, it was those eyes. So bright, so blue, so kind, but still so sad. It reminded me of the first day I met him, of the day he stole my heart from every other man on the market.

Broken, unsure, yet yearning for love. It was all there, and like experiencing a moment of déjà vu, I was transported back into a time when I felt invisible, like I could conquer anything with him at my side.

Once again, I was wrong.

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.
Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.
Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!

REVIEW:

I have yet to read a book written by Meghan Quinn that I haven’t thoroughly enjoyed. The way that she effortlessly blends humor and emotion is unique and addictive. Her books are so funny, and her sense of humor is so vivid and wild. It’s so easy to get caught up in the hilarious antics and witty banter that I forget this author is capable of bringing me to my knees with powerful feelings—something that she does to me every single time.

I was drawn right into Amelia and Aaron’s story from the first page. I adore second chance romances, especially when it’s a second chance at first love, and theirs was nostalgic and heartbreaking and passionate and absolutely everything I want in this kind of story. The connection between the two of them may have been broken years earlier, but the sizzling chemistry between them was proof that it wasn’t severed. They had so much sorrow and regret to sift through, and I was as rocked with emotion in those moments as they were.

Aaron kept secrets about his past and his childhood when they were together the first time. He didn’t share his demons with Amelia—she knew they were there, but she no understanding of what they were. It wasn’t until they reconnected that she gained this knowledge. Devastatingly handsome, gallant and charming, Aaron was a broken but beautiful soul, and I loved this lethally swoon-worthy hero. Amelia was the light in his otherwise dark world, and she whip-smart and sassy. These two were meant for each other, and no amount of time or distance could change the simple fact that they were positively perfect together.

Packed with feels, this was an emotional, sexy, romantic and real love story that made my heart ache as often as it raced. Meghan Quinn’s The Other Brother is just the kind of story that I read romance to experience. Five smooches from me!

Thirty Day Boyfriend by Whitney G. Review

Synopsis

I should’ve never agreed to this arrangement…

Thirty days ago, my boss—Mr. Wolf of Wall Street, came to me with an offer I couldn’t refuse: Sign my name on the dotted line and pretend to be his fiancée for one month. If I agreed, he would let me out of my employment contract with a “very generous” severance package.

The rules were pretty simple: No intimate kissing, no actual sex. Just pretend to love each other for the press, even though I’ve secretly wanted to knock that sexy smirk off his face since the first day we met.

I definitely didn’t need to think twice about this. I signed my name and started counting down the seconds to when I would never have to deal with his special brand of ass-holery again.

I only made it to one minute…

We argued the entire four-hour flight to his hometown, failed to make a convincing impression with the welcoming press, and right when I was about to knock that arrogant look off his face in real life? He purposely dropped his bath towel in front of me, distracting me with his nine-inch cock to “show me who the bigger person was” in our relationship. Then he gave me his trademark smirk once again and asked if I wanted to consummate our marriage.

Tragically, this is only day one.
We still have 29 more days to go…

REVIEW

I have been waiting on this one.  Whitney does the very best alpha-holes.  Her guys are always, hot, mean, smarmy as heck and hilarious and I so look forward to reading them.

Oh Nicholas and Emily, how you freaking made me laugh.  This story was cute, hilarious and so so sexy to boot.  I was fully engaged and sat down and read this bad boy in one sitting.  It was told in dual POV’s which I loved and somehow managed to sneak a little surprise in at the end that had me all swoony.

Another hit out of the park for Whitney G.  Will I ever get tired of her mean, smug, shamelessly sexy guys with big hearts?  Probably not!  Five “The Wolf” Stars!
