Synopsis

Warning: This isn’t a romance, but instead a tale of love between two despairing people, from two different worlds, both aching for something more.

Debbie Reynolds is a runaway, New York City-bound. Living on the road comes with many challenges—fighting for her next meal, seeking safe places to sleep, and dodging men with less than honorable intentions, all while searching for meaning in a life she finds painful and pointless.

Damon “Preacher” Fox, vice president of the Silver Demons Motorcycle Club, has been in prison for club-related crimes. As his release draws near, he begins to reevaluate his choices in life, realizing that if he stays with the club, this won’t be his last stint behind bars. Suddenly Preacher finds himself doubting everything he’s ever known, wishing for a life beyond the club.

When Preacher and Debbie’s paths cross, they find in each other a sense of peace they had been lacking. But life is about to catch up with Preacher, and Debbie, desperate to keep the one person who’s ever shown her any kindness, finds herself caught between forces far deadlier and more powerful than she could have ever imagined.

This is Debbie and Preacher’s story.

At the end, we should all go back to the beginning,
if only to remind ourselves that we once lived.

REVIEW

Y’all, I am not going to lie.  I’ve been dreading this book as much as I’ve been anticipating it.  If you are like me, and you have read every book in the Undeniable Series, then you know.  Oh yea, you know there is not the potential for the ending that we all want.  So, I knew I was going to hurt.  I knew it was going to take us back and make me hopeful despite knowing what I know from the past books in this series.  Still, I went in, all smiles, hopes raised, beyond invested in Preacher and Debbie’s story.  And Gah it was as good as it was heartbreaking.

There was so much that I positively adored about this story.  Let me start with the first.  That prologue.  I tell everyone who listens that Madeline Sheehan is the dag gum queen of prologues.  They always get me right in the darn feels.  Always, and this one was no exception.  Next!  Eva!  I was so freaking excited to see her and Deuce again.  I missed them so much.  They may be older, but nothing has changed with these two.  Gah.  Their love story is probably my most favorite ever biker romance so I felt at home with these guys!  And I absolutely adored how Eva’s bit of the story was done in first POV and then Preacher telling his and Debbie’s story (which was so much more than just their love story) was done in third.  It was seamlessly done and so freaking perfect.

You guys this story just pulled at every dang heart string I have.  It was sexy, sweet, funny at times, but beyond everything it was absolutely heart breaking.  And still I’d pick it up and read it again and again.  Undeserving was completely unforgettable.

Kiss My Boots by Harper Sloan Review Tour

In this second of the sultry, Western-set Coming Home series from New York Times bestselling author Harper Sloan, Quinn Davis might finally have a shot at her own happily-ever-after—but will she let love in, or will she tell it to go ahead and kiss her boots?

Quinn Davis prefers to live her life quietly. She’s the stereotypical tomboy with two overprotective big brothers who have always been there to protect her, especially from devilishly handsome cowboys with silver tongues. That is, until Tate Montgomery comes riding into town. Their first meeting, however, is far from something out of a fairy tale and only further convinces Quinn that men aren’t worth her time.

The only place Tate Montgomery ever truly felt at home growing up was during the long, sweltering summer months he spent at his Gram and Paw’s farm in Pine Oak, Texas. Now, Tate has returned to his childhood sanctuary seeking a fresh start—but if he’s being entirely honest, he’s not just back for the wranglers and Stetsons. During those summers, Quinn was a friend-turned-young-love who Tate lost when life threw him a curveball and he cut all ties to his past; but all it takes is one glance at the raven-haired beauty he did his best to forget for him to realize just how much he’s been missing….

TRUST by Kylie Scott (Official Book Trailer) from FILM 14 on Vimeo.

“You were going to give it up to Duncan Dickerson?” he sneered. “Are you serious?”

I halted, staring at him. This was not good. “How do you know about that?”

“Anders overheard you and Hang talking.”

“Bastard.”

“Well?” he demanded, acting all authoritarian. Idiot.

“To be fair, I didn’t know his last name was Dickerson,” I said. “That’s unfortunate. Though, I wasn’t actually planning on marrying him, so . . .”

“Not funny.”

I shrugged.

“You barely know the guy.”

“Um, yeah. None of your concern. We’re not talking about this.” How mortifying! My face burned bright. People should just gather around and cook s’mores. “I appreciate that we’re friends. You mean a lot to me. But this is going to have to fall under definitely none of your damn business, so go away please.”

“We’re talking about it.” He advanced a step.

“No we are not.” And I retreated.

“You were going to let a complete stranger touch you.” Advance.

Retreat. “People do it all the time. You do it all the time.”

“But you don’t,” he said, taking the final step, backing me up against the side of his car and getting all in my face. “Edie, this is your first time we’re talking about. Isn’t it?”

“Yes, and it’s going to be messy and painful and probably horribly embarrassing and I just want it over and done with.” I tried to meet his eyes but failed, settling for a spot on his right shoulder. “You’re not a girl; you wouldn’t understand. Also, last time I checked, you’re not the gatekeeper of my hymen, John Cole. So back the fuck off.”

He said nothing.

Deep, calming breaths. “Look, someday I’ll meet someone I really like and we’ll have a deep and meaningful relationship and go at it like bunnies. But I don’t want to be the dumb virgin in that scenario.”

He slowly shook his head.

“Also, I do not want to die a virgin.”

“What? What the hell are you talking about?”

“Hey, you and I both know death can occur at any time.”

“This is crazy.”

“I’m seeing a therapist!” I told his shoulder. “I don’t know if you noticed, but I’m a little bit messed up these days. It’s hard for me to trust people. That’s not going to change anytime soon.”

He screwed up his face at me. “Wha—”

“I’m just trying to be practical.”

“Well, you’re being ridiculous. None of this makes sense.”

“It does to me.”

Again, he said nothing.

In fact, he said nothing for so long that I finally looked him in the eye. The anger had left him, replaced by an emotion I didn’t recognize. Worst of all, he still smelled like summer. A little sweat and the open night air, everything I loved. Liked. I meant liked.

“What?” I said, finally.

He let loose a breath. “I’ll do it.”

Review

WOW! This one was a surprise for me! I’ve read almost all of Kylie’s books and have loved them all. She has a style all her own and it really works. But with Trust she veered away from her tried and true formula and took a risk into mature YA and it was a complete success for me.

Trust gave me an intense book hangover, I simply could not put it down. rust is a friends to lovers romance about to troubled teens whose shared tragic encounter took them from strangers to friends. Edie and John are so different and while John started the book on the wrong side of the law and Edie is a good girl, but after they both have this horrible event happen to them they basically switch. Edie walks the line of making good/bad choices and John works on turning his life around.

This story was hard in the best ways possible. I was never quite sure how it would all work out. These tow were not instantly in love, it was a struggle to move past their co-dependent odd friendship to something more. They didn’t always make the easy or right choices but something about the story and no matter how hard it got that each hardship seemed needed and only made their eventual pairing all that more rewarding.

I’m not sure what I was expecting with Trust but I can tell you that she blew my expectations out of the water. I went through the gamut of emotions and I personally hopes she takes another risk like this again.

Rhys Carey spent centuries evading the clutches of his twisted brother, unable to trust anyone. He longs for a home and for the love that he could not have while his brother lived. Now that his twin is dead, he’s bound with a different set of chains, those of isolation and self-loathing, and they are impossible to escape.

Savannah Baker is unbearably lonely. Her abilities as an empath have trapped her in a small life, with only a single friend to call her own. She dreams of so much more but holds no hope that she will attain her deepest desires.

When Rhys moves in across the street, the attraction between them blossoms into something more — a love neither of them believed they could have.

Yet unbeknownst to Rhys, darkness stalks him, waiting for the opportunity to strike. The evil that shadows his every move will use whatever means necessary to ensnare Rhys, even kill the woman he can no longer live without.

Quick Quirky Questions with CC Wood

  1. If you could be any paranormal creature (fairy, ghost, vampire, werewolf, etc) what would you be?

Answer: Ohhh, that’s a good question. I think I’d be a vampire. Blood doesn’t bother me and biting sounds kind of sexy. 😉

  1. Name 2 things you like about yourself and 1 thing you could work on?

Answer: Things I like about myself? Hmmm. I’ve never really thought about it before, but I do like that I try not to take myself too seriously. I can laugh at myself, especially if I’m letting my neuroses get the best of me. I also like my creativity. I feel like I see things differently than everyone else sometimes.

In terms of things I could work on, I need to stop procrastinating. I put things off because sometimes I get overwhelmed with large projects and I have no clue where to start. Then I’m frantically trying to finish things by deadlines. I don’t do it ALL the time, just once or twice a year, but I shouldn’t procrastinate at all. It’s not good for my mental health.

  1. What food would you outlaw if you could?

Answer: Pickled eggs. I’ve never actually eaten them, but only because the smell makes me want to yack, so I’m pretty sure the taste would gross me out too.

  1. If you could be any Disney villain who would you be?

Answer: Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty.

  1. What are 2 items on your bucket list?

Answer: Hmmm. I haven’t looked at my bucket list in a while, but making USA Today or NYT Bestseller list is on it. And so is spending a couple months in a little cottage in Scotland or a house in Tuscany while I write a book.

Review

I just love when C.C. Wood writes a paranormal romance. She mixes humor, heat, interesting plots with a romance that makes you swoon.

Let’s talk Savannah before we get to the star of the show, Rhys. As an empath she has to live a lonely, isolated life. For a recluse she desperately desired to be a part of the real world and find her one love. But, her ability means she is constantly overwhelmed with the feelings of those around her. I found her to be sweet and sassy. I loved when she got flushed or embarrassed around her hot new neighbor. Speaking of Rhys, boy did I LOVE him.

I’m a big fan of a damaged man and Rhys is as damaged as they come. His past has made him feel incapable of being loved but nothing could be father from the truth. He was patient, hot, alpha and all around amazing. The whole cast of characters in this book were the driving force for my love of it and if the next book in the series is about who I hope it is then I definitely cannot wait!

I honestly think there is something about how C.C. Wood writes paranormal that is appealing to both para readers and those who tend to avoid it. She was one of the first paranormal authors I read and her style reads like contemporary but with the fun of paranormal. Nothing is too complicated you can’t easily follow along and yet the plots are always surprising and exciting. There has not been one I haven’t enjoyed and Souls Unchained is yet another hit for me.

REVIEW

Ever since Lily’s last brother was murdered and she was nearly kidnapped from the rival mob family, her life has been a prison. No one can know the mob princess lives so they keep her trapped inside and the worse part is, her main captive is the man she once loved, Kieran. Kieran and Lily were meant to run away from it all but the fear of someone hurting Lily has made Kieran the infamous killer and near right hand man for Lily’s father who she detests. Lily has a secret though, every Monday she manages to escape to meet s friend for lunch, but this is also where she meets a man she has never spoken to but feels an undeniable bond with. Little does she know that the man she sees, is none other than Dare, the new leader of the rival mob and both of their lives are about to be thrown into one hell of a dangerous rollercoaster ride that one or both of them might not survive.

“Because he loved me, and my heart ached for the love we’d had, but he was a warrior through and through. And ever since that night Aric died, those instincts had slowly enveloped Kieran’s love for me, until they were all he knew. Save Lily. Protect Lily. Hide Lily. Cage Lily.”

I LOVED the story of Lily and Dare! It was intoxicating, captivating, intense, beautiful and heartbreaking. Not only did I love Lily and Dare, I also loved Kieran (even if I wasn’t meant to) and my heart broke for him. All of their stories were so heartbreakingly beautiful and I literally devoured this book in one sitting.

“That girl. Something about those eyes promised every truth wrapped in the sweetest deceit. Flames ignited in my veins every time I was near her, my blood roaring with the need to uncover every one of those hidden truths.”

Lily was a trapped, lonely and heartbroken young woman. I really felt for her and my heart broke when her love for Kieran started to disappear because he couldn’t stop his obsession with keeping her safe. Lily just wanted to run away from her family and the house that had now been her prison and despite my love for Kieran, I wanted Lily to escape because you could feel how much she was suffocating. Dare was the knight in shining armour in this story. Despite being head of his family, you knew he hates his position and I admired his bravery for wanting to end the illegal side of it all. The way he wanted to protect and care for Lily, even going against long time friends to do so, made me fall in love with him and made me want Lily and Dare to end up together- they were perfect for each other.

“You’re such a complication,” I whispered against his lips, and felt him smile in response. “You’re a dream inside a living nightmare, and I’m a bastard for pulling you in.”

I was kept on my toes throughout the whole story wondering what was going to happen. Not only with Kieran, Lily and Dare but also with the whole families, when all the lies and secrets would come out, and who would survive the fall out. I could not put the book down and I didn’t want to. The love stories were beautiful and heartbreaking, the drama was intense and full of twists and suspense and the story just flowed effortlessly. I love that the ending has left it open for us to have Kieran’s story which I am absolutely on pins and needles for! Overall this has been one of my favourite reads of 2017!

“For every lie and betrayal, and for the life we would never have . . . my heart broke open and tears rolled, fat and heavy down my cheeks.”
