One week in paradise with the one man I can’t
resist…
Will Cassidy is hot, infuriating, and the guy
behind the biggest heart-stomping humiliation of my life. He’s also hosting my
BFF’s destination wedding at his super-luxe tropical resort, so short of a
hurricane or outbreak of the plague (here’s hoping), I’m stuck
within t̶o̶n̶g̶u̶e̶’s̶ arm’s reach of him for the next seven days.
But I’m not a naive college girl anymore, and
there’s no way I’m falling for his (many) charms again. I just have to ignore
the romantic wedding shenanigans, his miraculous abs, all those intimate beach
sunsets… And did I mention those abs?
Maybe a wild vacation fling is exactly what I
need to even the score… But between the scorching chemistry and all-inclusive
margaritas, I’m getting drunk on love. Which definitely isn’t part of the
plan.
Can I keep my heart zipped – even if my bikini
bottoms are lost somewhere on that nude beach? And how do you let go of the
past when you’re holding on tight to the past’s (very ripped) torso?

Excerpt:

I point to the guy behind the glass. “You want Peter’s number?”

“I don’t know. Do you think he likes piňa coladas and making love in the rain?”

For a flash second, a burst of wildfire curls through my veins. It feels like white-hot jealousy. Which is ridiculous since she’s not making love to Peter.

Or me, for that matter, obviously.

I fight off the envy with a full dose of sarcasm. “Have you ever noticed you never have a good pair of headphones when you need them?”

She huffs. “Message received. I’ll just shut up and read a book.” She reaches for her phone on the seat, but accidentally knocks it to the floor of the car. I lean down to pick it up, and when I hand it to her I see her playlist.

Nena’s “99 Luftballoons.”

The Go-Go’s “Vacation.”

Madonna’s “Like a Virgin.”

I smirk. That’s too fucking adorable. “You like bubblegum pop?”

Her cheeks go red. “There’s nothing wrong with bubblegum pop,” she says as she tries to grab her phone from my hand.

  1. Can’t. Resist.

I don’t know what comes over me, but I’m pretty damn sure it’s the way this girl needles me. It’s her French maid routine. It’s her pushing all my buttons. It’s the way she detests me.

I hold her phone behind my head.

“Max,” she says, in a perfect plea. God, it’s hot. I can hear her saying it in bed.

I feign surprise. “Oh, did you want your phone back, tiger?”

Her eyes widen when I use that word. Frankly, I’m surprised I said it. But she is a tiger, especially right now as she leans across the seat, reaching for it.

Damn, I’m an asshole. And yet, I can’t seem to stop playing keep-away with her phone, jamming it far behind me so that it hits the side of the car. She lunges for it, thrusting her arm out, but only hitting my forearm.

She swats me. “Give it to me.”

My brain short-circuits. She would sound hot saying that bent over the bed.

Then in a flurry, she unbuckles her seat belt and lunges at me.

Foul play indeed.

She’s on me. She’s fucking on me. She climbs, stretching high, her tits near my motherfucking face, so help me God. They are saggy, drooping, ugly breasts.

Except they’re not.

They’re perfect. Lush, ripe.

Like her sweet perfume scent. Like her cinnamon breath that flutters across my cheek as she rises higher. As she reaches, her T-shirt rides up, revealing a sliver of her stomach.

I’ve never seen anything so sexy in my life.

I don’t move. I don’t breathe.

I simply try not to grow more aroused. But then she wraps one hand around my wrist and pries the phone with the other as her breasts smash against my eyes.

Man down.

Review

Lauren Blakely is one of my top favorite authors, and I’ve loved every book of hers that I’ve read. But it’s her male point-of-view romantic comedies that are my absolute favorites. It’s the way that Blakely gets into the heads of her heroes and communicates the story through their thoughts, reactions and emotions to her readers. It feels authentic, it’s well executed, and it’s wholly addictive. I’d even go so far as to say that they’re one of my guilty pleasures. So, when one of her books lands on my Kindle, especially one of these, it is a drop-everything and read-it-now moment, and that’s exactly what I did when Joy Ride made its appearance.

“This woman is going to be a thorn in my side.”

I love an enemies-to-lovers story, and Max and Henley’s is a doozy. There’s a fine line between love and hate, but that line becomes even more obscure when it’s blurry to begin with. Hooked deep right from the start, I was drawn into this story and held captive by the magnetic chemistry pulsating between Max and Henley. I cruised through this book faster than any hot rod either one of them could build, and I enjoyed every second of the ride.

“Max?”

“Yes, Henley?”

“I don’t want to kiss you.”

“Good. I don’t want to kiss you either.”

King of the custom car world, Max Summers is focused, driven, ambitious and living his dream. He’s worked hard to get to here, though, and his reputation is stellar with customers lining up for one of his carefully crafted cars. He’s gorgeous, sexy and charming, and while his professional reputation is squeaky clean, he’s been known to get downright dirty while indulging in his favorite guilty pleasure: the one night stand. He’s a great guy, he treats his mechanics well, sharing the wealth of his knowledge and experience with them, and he gives back to the community by offering a helping hand to kids with car building dreams.

“…she’s all my guilty pleasures now, but I never feel an ounce of remorse…”

Henley Marlowe knew from a young age that building cars was her life’s passion, and she was a woman with a plan when she set out to pursue a career in this male-dominated industry. She went after it by earning an engineering degree and then landing a coveted apprenticeship with the one and only, Max Summers. Fierce, fiery and feisty, she was, then and now, the car-building, brunette bombshell of his dreams—even if he refuses to admit it. Max and Henley have a history marred by a mistake that they both handled poorly, so when Henley saunters back into his world five years later, there is enough current zapping between the two of them to fire a spark plug.

“I’m in love with you, tiger. I’m madly in love with you.”

Joy Ride hit on everything I love about an enemies-turned-lovers story:  sharp and witty back-and-forth banter between the hero and heroine, lust disguised as loathing slowly morphing into love, bouts of anger punctuated with toe-curling passion. Max and Henley’s happily ever after was feverish and furious and chapter upon chapter of fantastically fulfilling fun. Lauren Blakely’s Joy Ride was positively unputdownable! Five smooches from me.

Ghost [gohst] noun:  the soul of a dead person, a disembodied, vague, shadowy spirit wandering among or haunting living persons; a mere shadow or semblance; a trace.

That noun sums up Ghost and what his life has become with painful precision.  He is barely living, merely existing but never thriving. There wasn’t much that could pull him from the darkness he willingly inhabits…except one thing.  Her.

She is the reason he’s done what he’s done, and his life has become what it has become.

He haunts his former life, lurking in the background, surviving on occasional glimpses of the only thing good that is left in his miserable life. The horror he has inflicted upon her is nothing compared to the terror that waits for her when someone moves in to take her from him.

The thing about being stuck in the past is that it is like walking through life backwards. She is always looking back, so she doesn’t see what is happening in front of her. Unfortunately for her, it turns out that the ghosts of the past aren’t nearly as terrifying as the monsters of the future.

They say that true love is like a ghost, something that many talk about but few have seen. It’s a good thing for that, too, because he’ll need that element of surprise to protect her. Hopefully when the dust settles, he’ll be able to resurrect more than just himself.

I’m a married mother of three. My kids are all under 5, so I can assure you that they are a handful. I’ve been with my paramedic husband now for ten years, and we’ve produced three offspring that are nothing like us. I live in the greatest state in the world, Texas.

Baby, Come Back is a full-length contemporary romance and the sequel to Bad Neighbor.

REVIEW

You guys, I am obsessed!  Just obsessed with this authors writing style.  It’s gritty and raw and the way M. O’Keefe describes people and things just amazes me.  I seriously cannot get enough of her writing style.  It puts me so IN the story.  Okay, so I admit, I wasn’t crazy about the cover of this one.  It wasn’t the fact that there is a hot man holding a baby.  No, I loved that, because–ovaries, boom!  But the baby just looks a bit odd and alien like.  Like he wants to steal my soul and all.  That didn’t stop me from reading.  I picked this baby up and devoured it.  I’d been waiting on this one since Bad Neighbor.

I was not disappointed.  This book was so dang cool.  The story of bad guy gets girl preggers has been done before but the way that this author did it made me feel like the storyline was new.  The book had a very throw back feel, to the days of cigarette girls and gangsters.  And the hero!  Gah, he was nothing like I expected from Bad Neighbor.  Everything about the story was so surprising and refreshing, despite the authors darkish way of writing.  I loved it!  M. O’Keefe served me up romance just the way I like it.  The writing was off the charts, the story was new in an old way, and the sex was steamy.

Synopsis

Max Riley is the man of your dreams. Or at least he will be, for a price.

As his alter-ego Mister Romance, Max is a drop-dead gorgeous escort who makes romantic fantasies come to life. No sex, just swoon-worthy dates to die for, and the cream of New York’s socialites can’t get enough.  Whether they want a dominating billionaire, bad boy with a heart of gold, hot geek, sexy biker, or best friend who loves them from afar, Max can make it all happen, but he’s careful to keep his real identity a secret.

Enter investigative journalist Eden Tate. Having caught wind of the urban legend of Mister Romance from a lovestruck client, Eden is determined to publish a scathing expose on Max and his ability to swindle lonely society women out of their fortunes.

Desperate to protect his anonymity and his clients, Max challenges Eden to give him three dates. If she doesn’t fall in love with him, she can run her story with his blessing. If she succumbs to his charms, the story dies.

Cynical Eden has no doubt she can resist his fake romance personas, but when the real Max admits he’s falling for her, she has to decide if the professional liar is telling the truth, or if the passionate man with the mysterious past is just one more character designed to con her out of her career-making story.

Review

A new book in a new series from Leisa Rayven?? SIGN ME UP! From the moment I first discovered Leisa Rayven when she put out Bad Romeo I fell in love. Fell in love with her stories, her characters and most of all I fell for her style of writing. I love her unique voice and her fresh take on stories we feel like we have all read over and over again.

‘I know I’m going to have to develop a tolerance for how he makes me feel, or I’ll end up just one more giddy client on his roster.’

When Eden Tate sets out to save her job by getting an exclusive interview with the guy simply known in high society circles as
“Mr. Romance” she never expects to go thru his full immersion dates and in the process fall for the man who has a million personas. But how can she trust the one she is falling for, Max, be the real thing and not just another disguise he puts on to help women fulfill their non sexual romantic fantasies?

While the idea of a guy helping women fulfill their desires (sexual or just romantic) is not necessarily a unique one, the way Elisa went about it felt completely fresh and new to me. Eden was a journalist who didn’t believe in the one and romance and Max was the perpetual romantic.  I loved the dates they went on and the characters he was able to transform in. Leisa had me in the moment and I felt like I was there for each one and as the story progressed I too was falling him.

“You complicate my life in the most intoxicating ways,”

More than loving his characters, and the plot I loved the descriptive style Leisa uses. I always feel completely wrapped up in her worlds and just love it! I will say that I had an early copy that said it was uncorrected so it had quite a few errors but based on the quality of her previous works I am confident these were fixed for release. I can 100 percent recommend this book to romance lovers. I devoured it and now I can’t wait for the next in the series.

Aces Wild by Emmy Curtis Review

Synopsis

In the heat of the Nevada desert, the most elite military pilots in the world are about to engage in some friendly competition. Only this year, someone is changing all the rules…

RAF pilot Dexter Stone has been through his fair share of sticky situations. After living through a crash in enemy territory where no one expected him to walk away, the Red Flag training exercises should be a piece of cake-assuming he can keep his mind on the mission and not on the smart mouth of his gorgeous American competition.

As one of the few women in a sky full of hotshot flyboys, Maj. Eleanor Daniels has worked day and night to earn a coveted spot at Red Flag. And she’s not about to let some cocky British bad boy distract her from winning. But when the games take a deadly turn, he may be her only hope for survival.

Review

This is my first time reading Emmy Curtis, and while I do occasionally enjoy a military romantic suspense story, it’s not my top favorite genre of romance. But it’s been a while since I’ve read one, and honestly, I was looking forward to the change in pace. I went into Aces Wild anticipating a high-flying, thrilling story full of intrigue and hair-raising action fueling a sexy romance. There definitely was some of all that going on here, but it didn’t quite deliver the punch of excitement that I had been hoping to experience.

I don’t mind a fast-paced story, but Aces Wild took off at Mach speed and cruised there the whole time. The story – both the suspense plot and the romance – happen over the span of a few days. I get that high drama situations heighten emotions, but the hero and heroine did a quick fly-by over all of the relationship building moments that make the romance believable for the reader. I really liked this couple, they had fantastic chemistry and their snappy banter was quick and witty. I just wanted to see them hover at the good stuff for a bit longer before they raced off toward the horizon together.

The suspense portion of the plot had so much potential. The premise was very interesting and I was invested in it, but like the romance, it happened at warp speed glossing over important information. Unfortunately, when a story moves this quickly, key elements in the development are often overlooked or left out simply because there isn’t time to elaborate. There were holes in the plot that didn’t get filled, and there were no real explanations offered as motives. There didn’t seem to be any real vindication either, it just seemed like no one was really held accountable for anything. When all was said and done, I was left wondering why, and it was a disappointing conclusion to what was interesting plot.

I really struggled to rate this book. While there were certain things about this book that I very much enjoyed, but there were critical pieces that either fell flat or left me wanting more elaboration. It was frustrating because there was a lot of potential here for a really great story with a sweeping romance. But ultimately, it was just too rushed, and it didn’t really come together fully for me.

Dropout by Jamie Schlosser Release Blitz with Excerpt

JIMMY
Over the past year, I’ve been called a lot of things. Slacker. Troublemaker. Party animal.
I thought I was on top of the world. Turns out, I was pretty close to rock bottom.
Now I have a new title: college dropout.
Talk about a reality check.
But I’ve got a chance to redeem myself. One summer to turn things around. Two months to prove I’m not a complete f*ck-up.
It’s time to change.
I want to get back to being one of the good guys.

MACKENNA
I have everything I need to live out my dream of being a reclusive songwriter—my guitar, my notebook, and blissful silence.
At least, I did until Jimmy moved in next door.
With tattoos, piercings, and mischievous green eyes, he’s got bad news written all over him. And last time I got with a bad boy, it ended horribly.
Jimmy makes me feel things I shouldn’t feel. Want things I shouldn’t want. He’s a hazard to my carefully laid plans.
But he’s only here for two months.
I can resist him…right?
*Although DROPOUT is part of a series, it can be enjoyed as a standalone.
Jimmy Buffet’s ‘Cheeseburger in Paradise’ blared through the house, and I followed the music to the kitchen. I wasn’t sure what I would find, but as long as it wasn’t my neighbor making out with her neighbor I was good.
Turning the corner, I stopped dead in my tracks at the sight in front of me.
It wasn’t Beverly. Or Ernie.
And I most definitely wasn’t good.
A guy wearing nothing but camo-print underwear and a peach-colored apron stood in front of the stove. He was facing away from me, and I caught sight of a large tattoo—angel wings—across the expanse of his muscular back.
Surprised, I let out a high-pitched squeak. The sound got the stranger’s attention and he started to pivot in my direction.
My eyes fell to his sculpted ass, the muscles flexing as he shifted his weight from one foot to the other. He wore briefs. Not boxers or boxer-briefs—actual tighties. No guy should look good in those, but damn, he did.
His black hair was shorter on the sides and longer on top. Some of the inky strands fell over his forehead, falling to just above his bright green eyes.
His lips were parted in surprise, and something flipped in my stomach at the sight of his mouth. The bottom lip was twice the size of the top. Plump. Pouty.
Dark tattoos painted his chest and he had colorful flowers down the length of his left arm. And…
Is that a nipple piercing?
Because of the apron, I couldn’t see his abs, but my guess was that he had a solid six-pack under there.
I opened my mouth to say something—anything.
I wanted to ask him what he was doing in Beverly’s house. Or apologize for walking in on him while he was naked.
Instead, my social awkwardness presented itself full-force with the words that tumbled out of my mouth next.
“If you tried to hide in the woods, at least no one would be able to see your ass.”
His emerald eyes widened. “What?”
Figuring he probably didn’t hear me the first time because of the loud music, I raised my voice. “Camouflage underwear. Your butt would totally blend in with the bushes.”
Looking like he was caught between laughing and being outraged, he opened his mouth to respond.
Then all hell broke loose.
