He takes his lips away from my neck, and I see a flash of his deep green eyes filled with desire before he claims my mouth with his. His tongue pushes past my lips in a searing kiss. His normally controlled body shakes slightly and I can feel him fighting to control himself, wanting to pull back from me. Wanting to pull back from where we are going.
“Don’t fight it,” I whisper against his lips as he starts to do so. “I like it when you let go. Let the perfect gentleman you always try to be slip away for me. I like this dirty, deeper part of you that comes out to play with me. I like that I make it come out.”
“I promise he only comes out for you, kitten.”
“Show me. I need this,” I plead, looking up at him. I want him to snap, make the world melt away for me.
He captures my wrists in one strong hand. His mouth comes back down on mine, and I moan into his mouth, letting him take me and push me further into the soft bed. Something about him makes me want to let go, to not think about anything but getting lost in him. So I do. I drop my legs from around him and let them fall open farther, giving him the invitation to do whatever he wants with me.
His hand moves under my T-shirt and up my thigh. It trails up slower than I’d like, the torture bittersweet as I rock against him, wanting more. Wanting his hand between my legs. He growls into my mouth, deepening the kiss as his tongue makes love to mine. There’s still a restrained need in his body, and I want him to unleash all of it on me.
He pulls away abruptly, and I try to sit up, needing his mouth. I have to have it back on mine. I don’t care if I need oxygen. I want to keep kissing him forever. I want to stay in this moment forever.
“I want to feel all of you.” I yank at my hands, and he reluctantly frees me. I wrap them around his neck, pulling him back to me and taking another kiss. He claims my mouth, and I’ve never been so taken. After we’re both breathless, he breaks the kiss and rests his forehead against mine.

 

“Kitten.” He says my name like a prayer, with so many emotions in his voice. I can see him fighting himself, and I want to make him snap. Why do I love pushing him so much?
I drop my hand from around his neck and go to the buckle of his pants. I fumble with his belt, pulling it free. I go to fling it across the room, but he snatches it from me.
“Hands on the headboard,” he growls, his tone catching me off guard. “I’ll give you what you want, but you’ll do as I tell you.”
His words send a thrill through me, all the way down to my toes, and I swear I can feel them tingle. My dirty Captain is coming back out to play. I slowly raise my hands to the headboard. I wrap my fingers around the metal bar and do as he says.
He flashes a predatory smile as he wraps the belt around my wrists and through the bars. My heart pounds in my chest and my body clenches with want. I have to bite back a moan as I watch him do it. Don’t get me wrong, I always thought sex with Captain would be good, but I didn’t think it would go like this. He didn’t strike me as kinky, but maybe I’m so vanilla myself that I think this is a kink.

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Alexa Riley and the smutty insta-love novellas about over-the-top alpha males obsessed with claiming the virgins of their dreams that this author duo is known for. When they announced last year that they were trying their hand in the full-length novel medium with two—TWO!—books, I swooned. Literally. Right there in my chair, phone in hand, reading the Facebook post, I swooned. I mean, hello!! Two glorious, full-length books filled to the brim with all of that possessive alpha getting his woman goodness? Yes, please. Now. Right now. #GrabbyHands #GimmeGimme

I truly had no expectations going into the first book, Everything for Her. I wondered if they could pull it off, and I prayed hard to the bibliophile smut gods that they would. My prayers were answered because not only could they pull it off, they did it well. I loved that book, and as a reader, as a fan of theirs, as a lover of the smut genre in general, I cheered in celebration that they bridged the gap from novella to full-length so successfully. I was left happy, sated and very much anticipating The Captain and Paige’s story. So, when His Alone hit my Kindle, it was literally a ‘drop everything and read this right now’ moment. This time, though, I had high hopes. I already knew they could rock a full length (*snorts*), and I was so excited to see where they’d take it. They didn’t let me down. I loved the story, I loved Captain, I loved Captain and Paige together, and I was very impressed. I really hate to pigeon-hole an author, I swear to you I do. But it’s hard in the case of Alexa Riley, who are so well known for their smutty little novellas—something they do incredibly well, especially when one considers the fact that theirs are the gold standard by which this sub-genre is measured. So, it thrills me to no end to be able to honestly tell a fellow reader that their full-length novels are longer, (ahem) meatier, more in-depth versions of those quick escapism stories that they do so well and we gobble up voraciously.

They clearly took their experiences from Everything for Her and put them to use in this book. I’ll quantify that by saying that, by far, His Alone is the most plot-driven book I’ve ever read by Alexa Riley, and I’ve read them all. I was genuinely impressed by the richness of the plot here. It was suspenseful, it was interesting and exciting, it was detailed and cultivated. It grabbed my attention and held it throughout the story. All of the alpha obsessed with his woman awesomeness is here, and it’s as hot and sexy as I expect an Alexa Riley story to be. There was witty banter and even some well executed humor, too. Everything readers love about and hope for from an Alexa Riley story is in there and done well, there is just much more of it here. But it was the actual plot—the non-relationship-building portion of story playing out around the couple—that was what had me sitting up to take notice. Their novellas are absolutely a shot of smutty awesomeness, but they are generally lacking in a real story beyond the couple’s (brief) chase and (immediate) coming together. That is not at all the case in His Alone.

The Captain and Paige’s story was everything I hoped—and more than I anticipated—it would be. Sweet, romantic, sexy and full of that Alexa Riley brand of alpha fixation that their readers have come to crave insatiably. Paige tried so hard to be tough, but Captain saw right through her stoic shell to the woman who just wanted to be loved, and he gave that to her and so much more. Their love story had all the makings of Alexa Riley smutastic magic, but there was much more of it and it was intermingled within a serious plot that kept me tapping my Kindle’s screen furiously. With two fantastic full length novels under their belts, I hope that in addition to their deliciously naughty novellas, we’ll see more novel length offerings from them in the future. His Alone by Alexa Riley gets five smooches from me!

Holy hells bells.

I’m not sure if I should be pissed that my brothers and father left me to deal with this mess or thank them for the gorgeous eye candy. Not that I would, because they’d have a fit either way, but damn. Maybe it’s my mom smiling down on me, giving me a ray of sunshine through this mess.

All three of the guys are hot in their own way. By the cuts on their backs, they belong to the Ravage Motorcycle Club. Here for the rally, of course, and will be gone in a flash. That’s how it is. What the hell, I’ll enjoy the view while I can.

I sop up the water and wring out the mop head, then repeat … again and again.

Ryker, who boldly introduced himself, is a player. Yep, seen hundreds of them in my day growing up in the club. Tattoos, sexy vibe … I bet he doesn’t even have to ask women, just crooks his finger.

The other man, who I’m not sure his name, looks a little lighter in a way, but I’m not sure how to describe it.

Cooper, though. My heavens. Talk about charismatic, and I got that just from the few words he spoke to me. Hell, I get it just from being in the same room with him. It’s like he oozes it out of his pores, releasing it out in the world for women to fall at his feet and beg. Then there’s the hair. I can’t call it light, and it’s definitely not dark. It’s a unique combination of the two; light browns intertwined with a few darker browns, giving his hair a shade I haven’t seen before. Like a caramel color with an edge, and long. So much so that he has a hair tie wrapped around his wrist. No doubt he puts it up regularly. I’d put money on it only amping up his sexiness.

When our eyes connected for that brief moment, the blue popped out in his. I also noticed some navy around the edges. That combination of hair and eyes … Be still my deprived heart.

The way his pants ride low on his hips makes me want to give up all kinds of things to get him to raise his arms above his head so his black T-shirt rises up and I can see what’s underneath.

He has tattoos running all up his left arm, disappearing under his shirt. I can see some black poking through the top at his neck, too. It piques my curiosity, wanting to find out what he’s hiding.

I shake my head and squeeze out the mop. It’s been way too long since … Never mind.

Review

This was my first time reading one of Ryan Michele’s MC romances, and I’m very impressed. My only other experience with this author’s work was her novella, Branded, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Considering my love of MC romances, I have no idea where the heck I have been or how on earth her Ravage MC series slipped past me, but man, I’ve seriously been missing out. If they’re anything at all like Bound by Family, I can’t wait to dive into them!

For anyone else like me who hasn’t read Ryan Michele’s Ravage MC series, rest assured the author’s claim in the synopsis is true. Bound by Family is a completely standalone novel in a new, spin-off series of the Ravage MC franchise. You do not have to read that series to read this book. I followed right along with this story, without ever missing a beat, and I never once felt as if I was lost or missing something. I’d also like to mention that the author’s next statement in the synopsis—”if you’d like to see where it all started, you really should”—is also true, because I do want to see where this all started, and I will be reading that series.

Cooper Cruz was born and bred a biker. Having been raised in the club, it’s the only life he knows. With no plans to settle down with an old lady, he was enjoying the single life of a handsome and sexy biker in a notorious and powerful MC. Bristyl Daniels was also well acquainted with the MC life, having been born to it herself. Her father and brothers are members of another MC, and she was raised in that club. A chance meeting leaves a lasting impression on both of them, but it’s Cooper who rides in to rescue Bristyl at a rally. Little did they know that that was just the beginning of the danger they would face together.

Cooper was every bit the rough and alpha biker, but when it came to Bristyl, he had a soft, sweet side. He fell hard and fast for Bristyl, and in her, he found something he didn’t know he needed. Bristyl was independent, whip-smart and fiercely loyal. She was also gorgeous and sexy and had an air of almost innocence to her that was uncommon in Cooper’s world. They had an immediate connection, and the chemistry sizzling between them was impossible to ignore. They took things slow at first, really taking the time to actually get to know each other, but when they did make it to the bedroom, they were explosive together. Practically from the start, this couple was in sync everywhere and that was what was so special about them. As it turned out, it was also a smart move to build that trust first, because when Bristyl’s world crumbles and danger finds them, they needed that to get through it.

I really enjoyed this book. It was exciting, interesting and suspenseful, and it was that portion of the plot that really kept me on the edge of my seat. This couple’s love story made my heart race as they fought for their happily ever after. Bound by Family was everything I want in my MC romances: a deep and genuine love story between a strong, passionate alpha male who adores his sassy woman amidst a dangerous, gritty background story and punctuated with some smoking hot sexiness. Ryan Michele’s Bound by Family gets 4.5 smooches from me!

Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Julie grew up in a house full of women – she has three older sisters. As you can imagine, there was no lack of drama… or romance. I leaned back in my chair, letting my pencil drop onto the couch beside me, and stared at him.

“What are you doing?”

Review

I am a lover of all of Lani Lynn Vale’s books, but the Dixie Warden Rejects is fast becoming a favorite series. Vale put a lot of effort into honing her craft and growing as an author in 2016. She tried new things, she branched out into darker, grittier storylines, and while readers largely embraced these things from her, there were some who questioned where she was going with those changes. Well folks, all of that experimentation served a purpose and has led to this series. As readers, we need to understand that authors must take some chances, spread their wings, mix things up and do things differently to nurture their skills so they can flourish in their careers. Vale did all of that, and as a result, she has most definitely grown as an author—the evidence of it is plain to see right here in this book and in this series.

I love a good forbidden romance, and Tommy and Tally’s is a fantastic one. A full patch member of the Dixie Wardens MC in Alabama, a teacher at Tally’s school and an ER doctor, Tommy is a sexy, older man who commands her attention right from the start. A single look passing between them at an inopportune moment was all it took to ignite the fire that burned between them. While Tally is much younger than Tommy, she is also a single mother and is mature beyond her years. She felt the same attraction to him that he felt for her, but she had to prioritize her education and budding career. Tommy understood and respected this, but there was someone in their lives who wasn’t quite as understanding or accepting of their budding, secret relationship.

I don’t think it’s physically possible for Vale to write book that doesn’t include her wicked sense of humor, and I, for one, am grateful for that. This author is funny, and she gave readers plenty to enjoy in the form of witty back-and-forth banter, sarcastic commentary and slap-stick style moments. Vale expertly layered this humor within an exciting, interesting suspenseful plot to produce a story that had me laughing out loud while sitting on the edge of my seat. This is something Vale does exceptionally well – ratcheting up the suspense and diffusing it at just the right moment with just the right amount of humor. All of it came together into a story that grabbed my attention right away and held it as I slipped into devour mode to see how this would all play out. Amid these alternating moments of tension and hilarity, a beautiful and sexy love story was playing out between Tommy and Tally that totally stole the show. Lani is the master at creating these amazing and real romances between everyday people, and it’s something that I absolutely love about her stories. Tommy and Tally’s love, while forbidden due to their circumstances, was still very genuine, and the chemistry between them positively sizzled off the page.

Fear the Beard is classic Lani Lynn Vale, but with a new and exciting edge. She’s matured as an author, and it’s a thrill for me as a reader and a fan of hers to see this transformation of her talent in her stories. I’m just so excited about this series, and I can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of the stories! I absolutely loved Lani Lynn Vale’s Fear the Beard, and it gets five smooches from me!

Crazy Over You was my very first book by Daisy Prescott but I can guarantee it won’t be my last. Crazy Over You is the second book in the Love With Altitude series and can easily be read as a standalone novel. Mara never expected her one night stand from two years ago to rescue her off the top of a mountain but that is exactly what happened when Jesse shows up. With neither owning up to recognizing the other shenanigans begin. I fell instantly for Mara and Jesse as well as the entire town.

Mara was spunky and cute and Jesse is handsome and kind. The book is low on angst but full of story. Crazy Over You was a pure delight to read and I am already eager to go back and read the first book in the series. I fell hard for Daisy’s writing style and her ability to tell an amazing story.
