room-mate_amazonThe last time I saw my best friend’s younger brother, he was a geek wearing braces. But when Cannon shows up to crash in my spare room, I get a swift reality check.

Now twenty-four, he’s broad shouldered and masculine, and so sinfully sexy, I want to climb him like the jungle gyms we used to enjoy. At six-foot-something with lean muscles hiding under his T-shirt, a deep sexy voice, and full lips that pull into a smirk when he studies me, he’s pure temptation.

Fresh out of a messy breakup, he doesn’t want any entanglements. But I can resist, right?

I’m holding strong until the third night of our new arrangement when we get drunk and he confesses his biggest secret of all: he’s cursed when it comes to sex. Apparently he’s a god in bed, and women instantly fall in love with him.

I’m calling bullshit. In fact, I’m going to prove him wrong, and if I rack up a few much-needed orgasms in the process, all the better.

There’s no way I’m going to fall in love with Cannon. But once we start…I realize betting against him may have been the biggest mistake of my life.

Synopsis

He’s the guy no one likes…

Despite winning two national championships, JR “Ace” Anderson was sent packing from his old school after losing the trust of his coach. At Southern U, he has a second chance to prove that his college legacy isn’t endless debauchery and selfishness. But his reputation precedes him, and his teammates offer a chilly welcome in the locker room. The one person who is willing to accept him is the very woman he should stay away from—his new coach’s daughter.

She’s the girl everyone loves…

Bryant Johnson’s only goal in life is to make others happy, even at her own expense. One look at her father’s new star quarterback, and she knows that Ace is her next project. With a reputation for being a “jerk whisperer”, Bryant has spent her last three years at college reforming sorry behavior and turning bad boys into the best boyfriends ever. In Ace, though, she’s met with surly resistance and a sizzling attraction she doesn’t expect. Fixing this wounded warrior will be her biggest challenge yet. Not falling for him will be even harder.

Between her big heart and his damaged one, a battle is ensuing. In this game of love, every defense will crumble.

REVIEW

THIS BOOK STARTED OUT WITH A BANG!  Literally.  And normally I’m a slow burn kind of girl.  I like for the sexual tension to build and build and finally the couple will kiss at about 75% into the book.  That’s normally my MO.  So I’ll be honest and say that when I first started Downed I was thinking where do we go from here?  Everything just happened so quickly, but this one was still a slow burn in a lot of ways that count and I ended up just adoring it!

One of the main reasons I loved it was because of these amazingly well developed characters.  Bryant is a sweet southern belle with a troubled past and I loved how she wanted to fix everything and everyone.  I think as a woman I sympathized with her and understood her all too well.  And Ace.  Well. He’s a special kind of sports hero.  Because he isn’t loved.  Or really even liked.  He’s not a nice a guy.  He’s done some bad things and for most of the book he doesn’t really try to improve upon who he is.  He’s just him but slowly but surely these two change each other for the good and THAT was the slow burn.

Really liked this one.  Might be my favorite from Jen Frederick yet.  I cannot wait to see what else she has in store for us.  Her love and knowledge of sports is evident in every page of this sports romance!

REVIEW

Rusty Nail is the sixth and final installment of Lani Lynn Vale’s Uncertain Saints MC series. I’ve read the entire series and I’ve absolutely loved it. Without question, it was a definite departure from Vale’s usual writing style, and I think the risk she took in putting out something so different paid off. This series is undeniably a bit darker and edgier than what we’ve seen from her previously. She’s tackled some tough topics in these books, and I think she’s done it well. I was excited to see an author whose work I love spread her wings so she can grow as an author, and as I watched the series evolve and unfold, I absolutely think Vale accomplished that. I enjoyed this series tremendously, and Rusty Nail was definitely my favorite of the series.

Readers of this series have been clamoring for Wolf’s story, and I think capping off the series with it was definitely the way to go out with a bang. Like everyone else, I too, have wanted Wolf’s story since he was introduced as a side character in the KPD SWAT series. My interest this character only grew with his supporting role in Controlled Burn, book 4 in her Kilgore Fire series. Portraying these broken, somewhat dark alpha male heroes and helping them find redemption or healing through love is somewhat of a Vale trademark and something she does exceptionally well. And for me, no character has needed that as much as Wolf did.

There were some interesting twists and turns in this story, which is no surprise since Lani really knows how to ratchet up the suspenseful elements in her books. The story was fast-paced and action-packed, and the romance between Raven and Wolf was sexy, sweet and hard fought and won. I absolutely loved them together. What sets Lani apart, though, is her ability to deliver a suspenseful story, touching on a difficult subject, while still weaving in those threads of that humor that is so uniquely hers. No other author has quite the same slightly twisted sense of humor that Vale does. It’s the kind of humor you’d have privately with your best friend or your significant other, and Vale manages to capture that on the page in a such a way as the reader actually experiences it. It’s a special writing ability, and it’s one of the reasons why I love her books so much, I know that I can always count on that from her. Her writing style, her story lines, her characters and that Vale humor is just so different from anything else out there. All of this is on full display in Rusty Nail, and as usual, Vale pulled it all off, pulled it all together and put it all out there, and she did it with spectacular results.

This story ties up the series and puts a period at the end of it. While I’m very sad to see this series come to an end, I’m thrilled with how it did. I just loved Wolf’s story, and it made my heart so happy to see this man get his happily ever after. Lani Lynn Vale’s Rusty Nail gets five smooches from me.

Synopsis

The end of the Billionaire Bad Boy era, the series comes to a close.

From Kline and Benny to Wes and Winnie with Thatch and Cassie in between, spend time with the characters that have stolen the hearts of both each other and readers alike, and meet the men of the upcoming spinoff series Mavericks Tackle Love.

Review

Max Monroe has yet again given us a book with heart, humor and so much steam my house windows were fogged after reading it. If you have been falling along in the series than you have already met all the characters in this story and I am confident you have fallen in love with them all. Scoring her is the official end to the series and brings all the story lines together on a fun vacation in the Caribbean.

“It’s okay not to be strong. It’s okay to be sad. But, baby, I want you to remember that no matter what, we will always get through it. No matter what, it will always be me and you, hand in hand, standing side be side and facing every difficulty and challenge together.”

Scoring Her is a fast and fun read that melted my heart. Plus, the dynamic as a group cracked me up and had me laughing out loud. Lexi is probably still the best character ever and if you haven’t met her yet you need to go back and read Scoring The Billionaire ASAP. Lovers of the series don’t want to miss this sweet conclusion to see how each couples ends up. Loved it and I can’t wait to see what Max Monroe brings us next.

Synopsis

The rules of (fake) engagement . . .
Leah Martin has spent her life trying to avoid temptation. But she’s sick of low-fat snacks, counting calories, and her hyper-critical mom. Fortunately, her popular new bakery keeps her good and distracted. But there aren’t enough éclairs in the world to distract Leah from the hotness that is Sam Cooper – or the fact that he just told her mother that they’re engaged . . . which is a big, fat lie.

Sam sometime speaks before he thinks. So what started out as defending Leah’s date-ability to her judgmental mother soon turned into having a fiancee! Now the plan is to keep up the fake engagement, stay “just friends,” and make Leah’s family loathe him enough to just call the whole thing off . But Sam has an insatiable sweet tooth, not only for Leah’s decadent desserts but her decadent curves. Her full lips. Her bright green eyes. Yep, things aren’t going quite according to plan. Now Sam has to convince Leah that he’s for real . . . before their little lie turns into one big, sweet disaster.

Review

‘God, I need to be inside this woman. And with that revelation, his entire existence shattered.’

Size Matters is a delightfully fun story that had me giggling and smiling the entire time I read it. Sam and Leah were just a complete breath of fresh air and while a little communication might have solved many a problem (but really what romance book is this not true for) watching them struggle to get it all right was fun and exciting. Sam was swoony and sexy and curvy baker Leah was a heroine we can all see ourselves in. Plus she had me hooked at FAKE ENGAGEMENT! Anyone else a sucker for that?

Alison Bliss has such smooth and natural comedic timing that the banter and one liners seem to only add to the love story and not distract from it. While stories written in third person are not typically my favorite, I have never had a problem with Alison’s books. Her writing is so fluid and clean that I just get lost in the book.

“Maybe you should tell me what it is you expect me to do.” “I expect you to not tell people we’re engaged when we aren’t.” “Too late.”

Size Matters was a great way to spend a lazy afternoon on the couch and I am beyond excited to get my hands on a copy of On The Plus Side. If the bits of Val that we got in this book are any indication to how great her book will be I am counting the days till I can read it.

A Veil Of Vines by Tillie Cole Release Blitz with Excerpt

To most people, princes, princesses, counts and dukes are found only in the pages of the most famous of fairytales. Crowns, priceless jewels and gilded thrones belong only in childhood dreams.
But for some, these frivolous fancies are truth.
For some, they are real life.
On Manhattan’s Upper East Side, people have always treated me as someone special. All because of my ancestral name and legacy. All because of a connection I share to our home country’s most important family of all.
I am Caresa Acardi, the Duchessa di Parma. A blue blood of Italy. I was born to marry well. And now the marriage date is set.
I am to marry into House Savona. The family that would have been the royals had Italy not abolished the monarchy in 1946. But to the aristocrats of my home, the abolition means nothing at all.
The Savonas still hold power where it counts most.
In our tight-knit world of money, status and masked balls, they are everything and more.
And I am soon to become one of them.
I am soon to become Prince Zeno Savona’s wife…
… or at least I was, until I met Achille.
And everything changed.
I opened the window beside me and stared at the illuminated entrance. I swallowed hard and placed my empty glass on the bar. Metal groaned, breaking through the twilight, as the massive black wrought-iron gates began to open. The limo slowly pulled onto the property’s lane, and I drank in the thick forest that shielded the estate. I inhaled the freshness of the lush green trees. The unpolluted sky was thick with stars—not a single cloud in sight.
A few minutes later, the thick woods cleared, and I gasped. Acres and acres of gold and green vineyards covered the landscape. The scents of plump grapes and damp soil permeated the warm air. I closed my eyes. It reminded me of being a child. It brought me back to the days before I was taken to New York. I could still feel the heat of the Emilia-Romagna sun on my face, the deep smell of olives, grapes and flowers drifting in the breeze as I ran around our Parma estate.
I smiled a nostalgic smile and allowed my eyes to drift open again. I rested my arms on the window and leaned my chin on them as the limo drove on. There were several small villas peppered over the landscape, their lights twinkling in the distance. They must have been the winemakers’ residences. It was not only the Bella Collina merlot that was made on this land; other reds were too—particularly the Chianti from the region’s finest Sangiovese grapes. The Bella Collina olive oil was also up there with the best. But nothing compared to the famed merlot.
The limo turned right, and my breath caught in my throat. I lifted my head and stared disbelievingly at the property ahead. Bella Collina was a veritable Palace of Versailles tucked away in the Umbrian wilderness.
“Mio Dio,” I whispered as I took in the imposing stone structure, the sweeping steps and the vast number of windows set in the building’s walls. Large pillars of red-veined marble flanked the entrance. Cypress trees framed the estate as if it were the shining star of a fine Renaissance painting. Sculptures of famed Savona monarchs of old stood proudly on the manicured lawns, and strategically placed lighting illuminated the sheer perfection of every piece of topiary.
As a child, I had been to the Palazzo Savona in Florence. It was widely regarded to be one of the finest estates in all of Italy, if not western Europe. But this . . . this . . . there were no words. It was perfectly placed, as if it had always been there. As if it had grown naturally from the Umbrian earth just as sure as the vines and woods that kept this architectural treasure hidden from view.
Tillie Cole hails from a small town in the North-East of England. She grew up on a farm with her English mother, Scottish father and older sister and a multitude of rescue animals. As soon as she could, Tillie left her rural roots for the bright lights of the big city.

After graduating from Newcastle University with a BA Hons in Religious Studies, Tillie followed her Professional Rugby player husband around the world for a decade, becoming a teacher in between and thoroughly enjoyed teaching High School students Social Studies before putting pen to paper, and finishing her first novel.

Tillie is both an independent and traditionally published author, and writes many genres including: Contemporary Romance, Dark Romance, Young Adult and New Adult novels.

Synopsis

Kylah

I’ve always lived in the shadows of my athletic older brother and my charismatic twin sister. And that’s okay by me. I don’t mind being known as the shy wallflower. The gawky geek. The sweet, virginal girl. Well, that’s one label I’ve been trying to shed since starting my freshman year in college this year. The thing is, no one’s ever looked twice at me.

Until I met Van Gerard.

He notices me. He looks at me and seems to like what he sees. He understands and listens to me. He’s become a great friend. The problem is, I don’t want him as a friend.

I want more.

But my brother – along with a state line between us, and oh yeah, Van’s long-time girlfriend – are just a few complications getting in the way of what I want.

Van

I thought my senior year in college would be the best time of my life. I’m a starter on a Pac-12 basketball team, set to graduate with a degree in Finance. I have a girlfriend whom I’d planned to start a future with. I thought my life was already mapped out.

But then the bottom dropped out with a confession I never expected to hear, from the girl I thought I knew.

I thought wrong.

Luckily for me, Kylah Griffin was there to break my fall. She’s the best thing this year has given me. She’s helped me through a devastating blow that could have sent me reeling.

I know she wants more, but I’m not sure I can give it. Now that I’ve been burned, I don’t think I can go there again. Kylah’s not a hook-up, and she’s definitely not a rebound. She’s a sweet girl who deserves more than to be friend-zoned.

If only things weren’t so complicated.

REVIEW

Kylah is the girl that everyone knows as the sweet, kind, shy girl who is overshadowed by her twin sister and older brother. She’s the friend and never the girlfriend, never even had a real date. But she’s ready for that to change…and she wants it to change with Van, her brothers friend. Someone she instantly clicks with but someone who views her as just the friend again…or maybe Van just wants to view her as a friend, maybe really he wants more as well, but with a girlfriend, big brothers  and many other things in the way can these two ever get the chance to try and be together?

“If someone calls me ‘a sweet girl’ one more time, I’m liable to throat punch them. Not even kidding.”

This was one of those sweet romances. A romance you could easily get into and read and where you want the two main characters to sort themselves out and see that they are meant to be with each other, no matter what obstacles are being thrown into their path.

“I don’t want Van to be unhappy. I care too deeply for him. So if finding a way to work out whatever their problems are and remaining together will make him happy, then I’ll back him one hundred percent. I’ll bury my crush in order to remain friends with him.”

We have our heroine, Kylah, our sweet, innocent, smart girl but who also has a sassy and confident side to her that’s buried deep, just needing someone to help bring it out of her. She was someone I could easily connect with; her personality and what she perceives as her flaws being what I sometimes see in myself. Seeing her grow and develop into a more confident and happier within herself, young woman was really lovely to read about.

“Honestly, I was elated to finally let her know just how much I wanted her. It felt like the weight of a thousand-pound boulder was lifted off my chest when I wrapped her in my arms. Once I kissed her, there was no turning back.”

Our hero in the story is Van. I loved that he let Kylah be herself around him and that the way he was with her allowed Kylah to have the confidence to do that. I also loved that his integrity and that he knew in the beginning he couldn’t do anything with Kylah, no matter how he felt, because he had his girlfriend.

“I want to make this work. I’m so glad you came into my life when you did. I don’t deserve you, but I want you. I want you so much.”

There was plenty to keep us entertained throughout. Not only did we have the delight of watching Kylah grow, we also got to read the blossoming connection of Kylah and Van; the friendships, the confidant and person to lean on and eventually the realisation that they both have feelings for each other, feelings beyond friendship. It is no easy journey for these two; we have the drama of older brothers and girlfriends, of lack of courage and knowledge in what to do and the distrust in relationships and love after being hurt before….plenty to keep you reading and wanting to discover what happens next!

Synopsis:

Jack Valentini isn’t my type.

Sexy, brooding cowboys are fine in the movies, but in real life, I prefer a suit and tie. Proper manners. A close shave.

Jack might be gorgeous, but he’s also scruffy, rugged, and rude. He wants nothing to do with a “rich city girl” like me, and he isn’t afraid to say so.

But I’ve got a PR job to do for his family’s farm, so he’s stuck with me for ten days, and I’m stuck with him. His glares. His moods. His tight jeans. His muscles.

His huge, hard muscles.

Pretty soon there’s a whole different kind of tension between us, the kind that has me misbehaving in barns, trees, and pickup trucks. I’ve never done anything so out of character—but it feels too good to stop.

And the more I learn about the grieving ex-Army sergeant, the better I understand him. Losing his wife three years ago left him broken and bitter and blaming himself. He doesn’t think he deserves a second chance at happiness.

But he’s wrong.

I don’t need to be his first love. If only he’d let me be his last.
