luciandivine_03-1-1-1

luciandivine_03-1-1-1“My guardian angel is a drunk.”

Evelyn Casey’s life is at a standstill. She’s in her mid-twenties, struggling with the dating scene in San Francisco. Nothing seems to be working out, and she’s starting to think that she’ll live out her days in her crummy apartment with her overbearing roommate, Brooklyn. It’s absurd, but sometimes Evey longs for a guardian angel to show up and save the day.

And then he does. Seriously. His name is Lucian and he’s a guardian angel, been on the job for two thousand years. His sudden presence in her life is both good—he’s brilliant, witty, and warm—and bad—he’s brilliant, witty, warm, and hot as —-. But as perfect as Lucian seems, he’s got problems of his own. He’s taken up drinking and he’s brazenly inserted himself into Evey’s life, going against the greatest cosmic law ever created.

For Evey, the rules are simple: You are not allowed to hook up with your guardian angel. But sometimes fulfilling your destiny requires a leap of faith, a confrontation with God.

Yes, God as in God.

I shake my head. “I’m sorry.”
He frowns, but he keeps holding the door open. “What are you sorry about?”
I’m sorry I can’t walk through that door. I’m sorry I can’t date a football player. I’m sorry I can’t seem to get over that detail. “I can’t go on a date with you.”
“Tonight?” I can tell by the way he asks, he already knows the answer. I see his fingers loosening their grip on the door handle.
“Ever.” The word feels like a heavy stone thrown to the bottom of my stomach. The weight is sudden and uncomfortable.
“Because I play football?” He says it like it’s a hobby he picks up from time to time, like he knits scarves or paints watercolors of sunsets, as if it’s something that can be taken out and then packed away when the hour is up and it’s time to go back to normal life.
But, this is normal life.
People recognize him. He has the power to make or break someone’s day, and all because he plays a sport I would rather pull off my own fingernails than sit down to watch. I look at him, and that stone in my stomach feels even heavier.
“We’re just different people.”
“Because I play football.” He lets go of the door and walks over to a chair underneath the coffee shop awning next door. He’s processing what I’m telling him, and I follow him and sit down too.
He’s quiet for another moment, and then he turns to look at me. His blue eyes are so crisp, I bet if I looked close enough I could see his thoughts like an airplane spelling words across the sky.
He leans his elbow on the table and rests his chin on his fist. I have to use all my willpower not to stare at his tan forearm, but really, I don’t know where to stare that doesn’t make me want to throw my defensive stance out the window.
“So, you’re telling me that if I had walked over to you and given you my number the other night, and I was a professor or a plumber or a bartender, you’d go out with me. But because I play football for a living, you’re turning me down.”
“Yes,” I say quietly. The word feels hollow. It seems silly, but I know I’m right. Even if it is silly, I can’t get past it, and I’m not going to lie and go on a date with him just to say I did.
“Hmm.” Baron laughs to himself, like he finally gets the joke. “That’s never happened before.”

Review

‘Football players and their cheerleader girlfriends sucked, and I was going to take out a restraining order on their kind until the end of forever.’

Mr. Sportsball was an enchantingly fun read from author K.P. Haigh. But then again any book that starts with a girl in a sports bar not paying attention to a game but instead is reading on her kindle has my attention from the beginning.

“Just tryin to win you over, one orgasm at a time.”

When Baron approaches Monty in the bar he doesn’t know what to expect. He is recognized as the famous football player he is everywhere he goes. So when this intriguing girl reading not only doesn’t recognize him but seems to loathe the idea of football and football players he can’t help but go along and let her think he is just any other guy in a bar. Monty fights the feelings she has for the sports star with all her might but Baron is amazing and never relents. I loved him. He was book boyfriend material to the core and I cannot wait for you all to meet him too. Also, when you get there and you will know when you are there remember I told you that Pinball Wizard is and always will be Baron’s theme song for me!

‘He’s mine, and it’s messy and confusing. But, it’s my mess, and I’ll take that for now.’

K.P. Haigh is witty, smart and fun and wrote a different kind of sports romance. I fell harder and harder for this story with every word I read. She is a new to me author who I can’t wait to read more from in the future. Get this book now and I promise you will smile, you will laugh and you will swoon.

book blurb

I watch.
I study.
I prowl.
I hunt.

I always go in with a plan. A set of rules for myself. I don’t take unnecessary risks. That’s how I’ve been able to evade capture all these years.

But there’s something about this girl that is different than the others. When I finally meet her, the rules become a blur. And I break the most important one of all—I take her with me.

——-

It’s just my imagination—that feeling of being watched. That those icy eyes— a vivid turquoise with a distinct golden fleck—aren’t watching me.

It’s just stress. I am the person everyone relies on. Maybe that’s why I haven’t been feeling so content with my life lately. Why I dream those eyes belong to someone who can tear me away from all of my responsibilities.

But these are just shameful fantasies, never meant to breach reality.

Then one night, the dream comes true, only it’s a horrific nightmare.

Now, I only have one task: survival.

Review

There is a predator who stalks the night. A predator you see in the day, a neighbour, a worker, someone who waves at you in the street. But even predators have weaknesses, have someone they prey upon not just to prey upon, but because they want the prey, need the prey, thirst for the prey. But what happens when the prey has dark desires too, and maybe, or some level, wants to be caught?

“And I have her. The perfect girl. The girl who is a little like the rest of them, but maybe she’s a little different too.”

We really dive into a sick, twisted, dark world with this story. I love dark stories but this was even close to my limits! There is no anti hero- because hero is the wrong word even if this sense. We just have a predator. So I’d like your stories dark, really dark but one that also has a good, gripping story line- dive right into this one!

“These people don’t know pain. They don’t know loneliness. They might know fleeting discomfort, but they don’t know the persistent agony of being an outsider. People like them made me who I am.”

Sam is our predator who comes out at night. The person you least expect. But at night he lets himself roam free and has never let anything stop him before, has never placed a foot wrong…until Vesper.

“I have become something so inhuman, that I can’t ever have the thing I have been chasing. The very act of chasing it, of forcing it, has made it something I could never, ever grasp.”

Vesper seems like an ordinary, straight laced woman- looks after her brother with disabilities and has a caring, sweet boyfriend. But when Vesper becomes Sam’s focus, Sam starts to see what no one else sees. Starts to see that Vesper has some dark fantasises – fantasies that are about to become a reality for Vesper. She is about to be taken by a monster.

“I want him to fill me with his poison again. He likes the taste of my sadness and I like when he injects me with his venom.”

This really is a dark dark story. Sam is not someone who starts off bad but has some redeeming qualities- he is all dark, all messed up. He does sick things and he takes Vesper because he wants her, sees something in her and Sam gets what he wants by any means necessary. But Vesper isn’t all she seems either- will she spark something inside Sam other than the dark thoughts and actions or will Sam spark something dark in Vesper? She will continue to be viewed as a woman who was taken or will that change into something else?

“I am the storm. Strong and violent. Dangerous. I will tear down anything in my path to have her. When I roll through, you see evidence of me all around. You will see branches broken, windows shattered. I will move obstacles that seem insurmountable.”

I don’t want to give anything away, don’t want to give you any idea of where the story goes, what happens to Vesper or Sam but I’ll just say if you love a dark story, you will love this- just take the warnings seriously!

Dragons Need Love Too by Lani Lynn Vale Release Blitz

Title: Dragons Need Love, Too
Series: I Like Big Dragons Series #2
Author: Lani Lynn Vale
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Release Date: October 19, 2016

Nikolai Vassago has a plan.
His day starts out fairly normal. Get up, kick some ass, fondle his beard, take some names.
One second he’s participating in a normal every day mission, and the next he’s saving the one woman that fate has promised him for the rest of his life from the grips of a criminal mastermind.
Nikolai can’t say he’s altogether displeased with what he’s given, though. Not with that gorgeous brunette that would soon be warming his bed.
The same can’t be said for Brooklyn.
Living in a commune most of her life meant she wasn’t exposed to all of life’s craziness. The moment she turned eighteen, she was off and running, experiencing all of what life had to give.
That means she sometimes jumps in feet first, not thinking about consequences until the deed is already done.
Nikolai rescues her from a fate worse than hell, throwing her on the back of his dragon and flying off into the night.
He’s a go-with-the-flow kind of man. Brooklyn, however, is not.
Having been caged for the first eighteen years of her life, she wants nothing more than to be free to do what she pleases, consequences be damned.
Nikolai, however, has different ideas, and he’s not above using his masculine will to prove to her that she’s exactly where she needs to be.

Check out our 5 smooches review HERE.

I don’t know why I never expected Nikolai to be able to fight.

He had the muscles.

He worked out.

He was aware.

But he never struck me as fierce.

I wasn’t thinking that anymore, though, as I watched him beat the ever loving shit out of his opponent.

He never used a single one of his powers to accomplish it, either.

He did it all with sheer strength, force of will, and knowledge.

He was divine.

All we were supposed to be doing was buying some supplies for the house.

It’d been over two months since I’d woken from my coma, six weeks since he’d told me I was his mate and even longer since the housekeeper had stocked the kitchens.

I’d never been so happy to leave the confines of a house.

I would’ve been happy with going in a plain old car; but, today, Nikolai had taken me on a motorcycle, of all things.

I’d always wanted to ride on one but had never had the courage to ask for a ride.

Today, though, I’d practically begged Nikolai for us to take it.

He’d argued that a truck would hold more groceries, but I’d been adamant.

I didn’t even know why, either.

Just the thought of being in the open air, outside the confines of the sanctuary, turned me into a giggling mass of excitement.

And I was sure that nothing would ruin this day…but I’d been wrong.

Since I was now watching my man get ganged up on by five men.

My uncle’s cronies could ruin my day, as evidenced by the stupid goon trying to slash Nikolai’s face off with a fuckin’ saber sword.

I’d at first tried to help Nikolai, but his insistence that I back up and stay the hell out of it had been loud and clear, even when he hadn’t actually said any of those words out loud.

But he’d been awesome at screaming them inside my head like I was a disobeying three-year-old, rather than a twenty-six-year-old grown ass adult who knew how to wipe her own butt.

I watched with the brick wall of a convenience store at my back.

Nikolai’s bike was on its side where he’d dumped it.

My arm was scratched, and a strange throbbing sensation was going on with my ribs.

Funny enough, I hadn’t remembered ever hitting my ribs. Nikolai had been extremely careful about laying his bike down as we slid.

He’d also made me wear protective clothing, such as a brand new pair of motorcycle boots. A leather jacket with padding in the elbows and back, as well as a pair of pants that were supposedly flame proof.

I was glad he’d forced me to wear them now; but a scant hour before, as I’d been getting dressed, I’d been reluctant.

“Duck!” Nikolai screamed.

Then, I was seeing nothing but black. Everything around me was black.

“Nikolai!” I whispered frantically. “I can’t see!”

Strong arms, the arms that I was coming to care for in the short few days that we’d officially started to ‘date,’ wrapped around me.

“Shh,” he breathed, so low that I couldn’t be sure that he said anything at all.

Grab the bike, he whispered through my brain.

I moved my arms forward and grabbed on to the bike, feeling him shift as he got on. Then he pulled me on behind him and a loud roar sounded as he turned over the engine.

“Hold on,” he rushed.

I held on.

I’m a married mother of three. My kids are all under 5, so I can assure you that they are a handful. I’ve been with my paramedic husband now for ten years, and we’ve produced three offspring that are nothing like us. I live in the greatest state in the world, Texas.

The Reason For Me by Prescott Lane Release Blitz with Excerpt

AP new - synopsis.jpg
Holt
She likes it quick and dirty.
I like orders and rules.
She hates small talk.
I hate to share.
She’s an open book.
I’m a closed dresser drawer.
She rides a Harley.
And that drives me f’ing nuts.
Annalyse and I have both lived in our own personal hells for half a decade.  She’s learned to love the warmth, and I’m still consumed.  But my new neighbor is stoking more than my libido these days.  We agreed on only pleasure.  But she changed the rules.
And now I’m not even sure what they are.
Maybe there’s a reason she found me that night, maybe there’s a reason I can’t stop thinking about her, maybe there’s a reason for the pain.  Maybe not.
We all look for reasons in life.  Reasons for death, love, pain.  Why one thing happens and not another?  It’s human nature.  We’ve been looking for the meaning of life since the beginning of time.  But maybe the reason for all of it — life, love, loss, heartache — is the curvy brunette living next door.
TRFM.png
Holt

I can see the questions in her eyes.  Naked, I get on my knees in the bed, helping her up, her body pressing into mine, and lift her shirt over her head.  I can’t help but grin that she’s borrowed one of mine.  My hands slide down the curve of her waist and under the cotton of her panties, removing them.  Her hand softly strokes my cheek, and like an asshole, I jerk my head back, her soft touch doing damage to the hard defenses I’ve built.  How is that?  How can something so soft, so sweet, be my undoing?  And damn, the way she looks at me.  I can’t have her looking at me like that right now.  In one move, I flip her over and yank her ass in the air.

Her breath catches.  Dammit, sometimes I wish I could be one of those guys that only think about themselves during sex, but I’m not built that way.  Annalyse’s pleasure will always be more important than my own, and that’s just one small fucking step away from all her needs coming before my own.  It’s a slippery slope I’m on.

Using the tip of my cock, I outline her folds, feeling her open, drawing me in.  Running my finger down the curve of her back, her body rolls, her ass pushing against me.  She’s got the best ass, pure white, smooth skin, firm, but enough to hold onto.

“Holt,” she begs softly.

She’s very impatient when it comes to her orgasms.  That’s a great quality in a woman; she wants what she wants and doesn’t apologize for it.  As I slip myself inside her, she lets out a breathless moan.  It’s amazing how well I know her sounds, her body already.  Holding her hips, I slide in and out, slowly.  Grinning, I know she’s going to hate and love that at the same time.  She likes to come quickly.  It’s almost like she’s afraid there’s not enough time.  She starts to move faster, wanting me deeper, and harder.  And I’m powerless to resist her, incapable of not giving her exactly what she wants.
And when she screams out my name, I follow right behind her.  My body covers hers as we lay collapsed in our orgasmic hangover.  Moving her hair off her face, I look down at her closed eyes, missing seeing the way she looks when she comes.  “Every night,” I say quietly, “I want you in my bed, naked, waiting.”

She doesn’t open her eyes, but a little smirk crosses her lips.  “Orders, orders.”

Kissing her neck, I nibble her earlobe.  “Say you’ll be here.”  She rolls over, her eyes meeting mine for the first time.  A subtle guilt rises in my chest; I just fucked her to feel better, to forget.  And I want to do it again.

Ella Harper has met every challenge that life has thrown her way. She’s tough, resilient, and willing to do whatever it takes to defend the people she loves, but the challenge of a long-lost father and a boyfriend whose life is on the line might be too much for even Ella to overcome.

Reed Royal has a quick temper and even faster fists. But his tendency to meet every obstacle with violence has finally caught up with him. If he wants to save himself and the girl he loves, he’ll need to rise above his tortured past and tarnished reputation.

No one believes Ella can survive the Royals. Everyone is sure Reed will destroy them all.
They may be right.

With everything and everyone conspiring to keep them apart, Ella and Reed must find a way to beat the law, save their families, and unravel all the secrets in their Twisted Palace.

Review

Twisted Palace brings to us the conclusion of Reed and Ella’s story. Royal Palace was one of my absolute favorite books of 2015 so I have been eager to see how this tale would end. I did enjoy this book but honestly I find that the trilogy on a whole was too drawn out for my taste. There were just too many extra details and what felt like filler. In my opinion this could have been one or maybe two books, But that being said the story as a whole is exciting and surprising and the last 15% of this book in particular had me on the edge of my seat.

Reed and Ella are still in high school so this fully in my opinion falls into the mature YA category so I expected (as I did with the first two books) for there to be a lot of juvenile problems (i.e. sneaking out, mean girls, out casted, daddy issues, etc) and I personally don’t mind these and in a lot of ways I really enjoy these storylines. I find them an escape from my life as a 34 year old stay at home mom. But mix all of those problems in with a murder mystery and you just have drama overload. It felt convoluted and overdone at times. I think I would have been more into the mystery or more into the YA drama if one was played up more than the other but they both seem to be driving forces that were competing for my attention.

Now let’s talk about what I loved in this book. The Royals. The clan as a whole is a win for me. They are fiercely loyal and protective. Sexy, funny and mysterious. I gulp up every droplet of information I get about each of them in hopes of retaining it for future stories. Val and Wade. That is a story that needs telling. The ending. I will admit I did not see that coming. The writing, there is no denying that these are two extremely talented writers who craft some amazing and complex stories and this was no different. It was clear it was all well though out and planned perfectly. And lastly, and this might surprise you, Jordan. I love me a villain and she was just the perfect high school mean girl. She reminds me a lot of Nan from Abbi Glines’ Rosemary Beach series and like Nan she really drives a lot of the drama in the book.

“You. Us. Forever.”

So my overall thoughts are:

Did I love the story as a whole? – Yes

Did I find it too drawn out for three books? – Yes

Is there a too much juvenile drama? – Yes and No (see review)

Will I read more Royals? – Absolutely Yes

Is Easton mine? – Yes and don’t argue this fact.
