‘“You look scared,” he says the moment they’re out of earshot. Ugh. I hate how he does this sort of thing. “You don’t scare me.” He starts walking toward me, his body brushing against mine as he passes. “Maybe I should,” he murmurs‘
So I know that this book is not for everyone. It is very mature YA and therefore full of “high school drama.” But I personally become addicted to the back and forth storylines and constant bad decisions that come from books about people going through those teenage years. The angst was dripping off every page and I was ready to drink it all up. Just Friends starts and ends with a bang that will leave you so excited for the next book, there are some moments in the middle where it slows but just trust me power on and I know you will be glad you did.

Em, Livvy and Dustin have been best friends for years and lately Dustin and Livvy have been secretly hooking up and after her summer away she thinks she is ready to make it all official with him. But while she has been gone her best friend Em has transformed into a party girl giving it up on the regular, especially to the hot new guy Ryan, who only wants to be Em’s friend with benefits. But after Livvy finds out how Dustin and Em betrayed her this summer all bets are off and anything van happen. Now the hot as fuck Ryan is flirting with her non stop and she might just be weak enough to give in to the temptation. But with all these lies, betrayals and messed up beginnings can anything real come out of this for anyone?

Hold the front door, this book had so much going for it. If you like a soap opera book with moments that make you cringe knowing that yet another bad decision would make the drama level rise to a whole new area than this is perfect for you. I get not everyone likes books like this but for me they are an escape and I think Monica did a good job of portraying the mindset of the 18 year old crowd. At that age you make stupid choices and you are selfish and petty. Not to say that every moment in this book is like that because it is not but the ones that occurred had me hooked.

EXCERPT
“Where’d you get beer?” Elisabeth asked as she scrambled from the couch.
“Seth,” I replied, hanging my head and rubbing my eyes.
Jesus, I’d wanted to kiss her. She was being a bitch, spouting shit she didn’t mean just because she was too scared to let me in.
But, even through it, those plump lips were calling to me.
I’d never been able to resist that woman. Despite that we’d fallen apart, it hadn’t changed. The hum for her was still in my veins. It never went away, but for two years, it had been dormant. I’d packed it down so tightly that I’d hoped it had died. But, with one look, my body began thrumming like a live wire.
“Seth?” she asked as she bent over to straighten her tight, black pencil skirt.
It was a rare occasion to catch Elisabeth in something other than a perfectly pressed skirt and a pair of heels. But she’d been sleeping all day. It was wrinkled all to hell and back. The only thing her efforts succeeded in was drawing my attention down to her legs.
Legs that had spent many nights wrapped around my hips as she came while crying my name.
Shit. I should go.
But, after the way she’d latched on to me that morning, I wasn’t going anywhere.
“My assistant,” I answered. “I had him pick you up a bottle of wine, too.”
She blinked. “You have an assistant? Who delivers you beer? And your ex-wife wine?”
“No, I have an assistant who does whatever the fuck I need him to do. And, luckily for us, beer and wine happen to fall into the whatever-the-fuck-I-need-him-to-do category tonight.” She fought back a smile as I finished, “So do gyros.”
“Damn. I need to get one of those,” she mumbled to herself.
I smirked. “Cash my checks and you could afford one.”
It was a dick move, bringing up the money right then. But, despite her expert hand in decorating, that little starter house we’d bought with rose-colored glasses now needed a shit-ton of work.
Her back shot ramrod straight, fury crinkling the corners of her eyes as she snarled, “I’m not cashing your checks.”
I shrugged. “Guess you’ll have to figure out how to get your own wine and dinner after tonight.”
“I think I can manage,” she fired back.
“Suit yourself.” I pushed off the couch and meandered to the kitchen.
I went to the fridge and leaned in, searching for anything I could snack on. With the exception of at least a dozen Tupperware containers, she didn’t have much in the way of a quick bite.
Snagging a handful of grapes from the drawer, I made a mental note to send Seth to the grocery store after he’d delivered dinner.
Popping the grapes in my mouth one by one, I felt her watching me in what could only be defined as silent awe. I decided my best move would be to ignore it. “You know, I should have invented Tupperware. You alone could keep me in business,” I told her, retrieving a beer and then shutting the door.
She scoffed then muttered, “At least then I would have benefitted from you abandoning our marriage.”
Lava fresh off the volcanoes in Hell boiled in my veins.
I cocked my head to the side and questioned, “I’m sorry. Come again?”
“You should go,” she snapped.
Think a-fucking-gain.
“Nah, I’m good. Got any movies?”
I tipped the bottle to my lips, doing my best to calm the storm brewing within me, all while still fighting the desire to take her to the floor, plant myself between her legs, and remind her how that fucking attitude affected me.
Clearly, she had forgotten.
My cock had not.
“Roman, it’s been a crazy day. Please don’t do this tonight.”
“Do what?” I asked, leaning back against the huge, granite island.
She threw her hands out to the sides in frustration. “What you always do.”
“What do I always do, Lissy?”
“This!” she yelled.
I frowned and took another pull from my beer. “Haven’t been in our kitchen, drinking beer, in a long time. I hardly think it’s fair to say I always do it.”
Her eyes nearly bulged from her head. “My kitchen, Roman. This is my kitchen. Not ours. And you know good and damn well that is not what I’m talking about.”
My lips twitched as I pointed the neck of my bottle at her. “No. What I know good and damn well is that I have no idea what the fuck you are talking about. Or why you’re slinging unnecessary and, might I add, undeserved attitude at me like a short-order cook at the bitch house.”
“He did not say that to me,” she whispered to herself.
When I lifted a shoulder in a half shrug, she swung a pointed finger toward the door and yelled, “Get out!”
I grinned, crossing my legs at the ankle. “You always were cranky when you were hungry.”
And that was the exact moment her head exploded.

THE CAR SLOWED as the large iron gate moved to the side. I fought the urge to look through the back window to see if Clayton and Deloris were still behind the limousine. I feared that if I did, I’d alert Alton.
“They won’t be allowed in,” he said with more than a hint of disdain. “Ever.”
My heart sank as I turned to the back window and watched the gate close. The limousine’s tires bounced against the long driveway as we moved beneath the giant oak trees.

I fought the nausea twisting in my gut as the car came to a stop on the circular cobblestone driveway.
Before the door opened, Alton leaned closer, his hand once again on my knee. “In each directive, Alexandria, I want you to ask yourself two questions.”
His words were heavy chains, securing my obedience as well as my captivity. I didn’t dare speak for if I did, I’d surely say something I’d regret, something to cause him to refocus me.

Having had the pleasure of first reading Lauren Blakely’s Big Rock and Mister O, I immediately put Well Hung at the top of my must-read/want-this-now list. Flirtatious, funny and feverishly hot, I adored absolutely everything about this standalone story. It kept me smiling, it kept me engaged, and I gobbled up every single word of this fabulously well written romantic comedy.
“The golden rule is this—you can bang the clients, but you can’t ever screw your assistant.”
What I loved most about this book was that it was written exclusively from the male hero’s point of view. Ms. Blakely has this incredibly insightful, innate way of getting in these guys’ heads and giving her readers their thoughts, feelings and emotions with nail-on-the-head accuracy. Experiencing everything that Wyatt was thinking and feeling kept me tapping my Kindle screen furiously. I loved every delectable word, thought and feeling that made its way through poor, confused Wyatt’s head. I’ve seen the male POV done before, but let me tell you that no one—NO ONE—does it quite like Lauren Blakely does and certainly not with the same authenticity and truthfulness that she delivers.

Mister O fans will recall that Wyatt is Nick’s twin brother. Wyatt is a good guy, or at least he’s trying like hell to be one. When he met Natalie, who is Charlotte’s (from Big Rock) sister, there was an instant mutual attraction. She, however, proposes a work relationship that he just can’t pass up. Wyatt’s hard-learned lessons in never mixing business and pleasure firmly place Natalie in the work-zone once her employment with him began. He may be the brawn behind this operation, but Natalie’s definitely the brains, and it’s been nothing short professional perfection in the office. Pushing his feelings aside hasn’t been easy, though, so it’s been six months of flirting, fantasizing and burning build up for both of them. When a valuable client hires them for a special project in Sin City, they learn the hard way that what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas.

We go through a carnival ride’s worth of twisting, turning, tilting, tumultuous emotions right along with Wyatt as he tries to pump the brakes on the confusing, chaotic contemplations churning through him. The trouble is that the man is one part paranoid guy, one part polite good guy and one part horny male, and all those parts equal one dude with a serious dilemma. Natalie is the answer to all of his office woes, wielding her organizational skills like a weapon to keep him in line and on time, she has helped to make his business better than ever. Not to mention that she’s smart, she’s savvy, and she’s keeps the place running with Swiss watch precision. On top of all that, she’s fun, she’s flirty, she’s sexy and she’s the drop-dead gorgeous, girl-next-door of his dreams. Unfortunately, Wyatt’s previous history with women who seemed like dreams come true but turned out to be his worst nightmares is not something he soon forgets.
“I want us to keep riding the rollercoaster. To get on it over and over again. To keep climbing, and falling, and flipping upside-down, even if it makes us sick or crazy. In addition to the hilarity of Wyatt’s private observations, readers are also treated to a hefty dose of brilliant banter. Wyatt’s stuck in between the proverbial rock and a hard place – he knows he needs Natalie at work and he’s slowly realizing he needs her in his life, too. He’s just so wary, so cautious, so unsure, and it takes him a bit of time to wrap his head around what he’s feeling and what is right there for him. Their relationship was every bit of the rollercoaster ride that Ms. Blakely laid it out to be. Full of stomach-dipping lows and heart-thumping highs, when the ride ends will Wyatt feel exhilarated or sick?

The more I read from Lauren Blakely, the more impressed I become. She just has this way of telling a story that is uniquely hers and it never fails to make my heart happy. Let’s back up.
How did we get from not kissing to kissing? What was that turning point? Did she lean into me? Did I move closer to her? Details matter. I’ll gladly share them.
Start with six months of sexual tension. Add in two mojitos for her, two beers for me, and a couple vodka tonics. Stir that with some bad news on the business front, and top it with the cherry of Natalie’s hit-me-over-the-head-with-a-stick comment that left no question as to what she wanted…and here I am.
We don’t lean into each other. There’s no inch-by-slow-sensual-inch pull. It’s not a slow burn.
It’s a fiery crash. We’re two cars speeding on the highway of this night, and we slam into each other, crawl across the hoods, and kiss like crazy.
Nothing is tentative about this. We go from not kissing to kissing in less than sixty nanoseconds. Yeah, I don’t really know what a nanosecond is, either. But it happens in no time.
And now my hand is in her hair, yanking her close as we crush our lips together. We kiss hard and rough, fueled by pent-up desire and more than enough vodka and rum to make this inevitable.
Her teeth scrape me, and I growl, loving her roughness. I suck hard on her bottom lip, and I’m rewarded by nearly the same sound from her. She’s like a tiger, and together we’re animals.
I grip her head tighter, and her hands are all over me—in my hair, then down my chest, then along my arms. We kiss so deeply, it’s like we’re trying to climb each other.
At some point, she breaks off, breathes out hard, then whispers in my ear, “I’ve wanted to do that for so long.”
“Not as long as I have. Now get those lips back on mine,” I tell her, and she complies.
My hands cup her cheeks, but I’m not gentle, and she doesn’t want me that way. She’s not a gentle girl. She’s badass and tough, and she wants what I want. I hold her face tightly in my hands, and she practically crawls into my lap in a rush to get closer, then closer still as she presses her tits against my chest.
I’m seated on a stool at the bar, and we are putting on some kind of show. But I don’t care.
My tongue searches and hunts, wanting to taste every corner of her mouth, savoring the vodka and the tonic and, most of all, the Natalie. She whimpers and moans, and I swallow every sexy sound she makes.
This stool is ours. This bar is ours. The night belongs to this kiss, because it’s not a starter kiss. It contains all the clues necessary to assemble the puzzle of where this night will end.

The driver began to shout something in Portuguese. The way his finger was wagging, I assumed he was telling the person that the cab was full. But the passenger didn’t listen. Next thing I knew, I was sitting next to someone in the back seat.
Someone wearing a uniform.
Captain Carter Clynes in the flesh.
He turned to face me with a wicked grin on his face. “My layover just got more interesting.”
Damn. He seemed to have grown that stubble overnight.
“How was your flight, Perky? Did you enjoy the ride I gave you?”
“My shirt’s dry. I think you can drop the Perky.”
His eyes lowered to my breasts. Of course, my nipples were standing at full attention since the sheen of sweat on my skin had met the cool air-conditioning inside the cab.
Carter scrubbed his hands over his face. “Damn. You weren’t kidding about those things. I haven’t slept in eighteen hours, and they just woke me up. I think they’re contagious, and I’m fucking perky now.”
“That’s not really an appropriate thing to say to a woman you just met, you know.”
“We didn’t just meet. This is our third date.”
“Third date?”
“I bought you dinner in an elegant restaurant for our first one and took you up for a plane ride for our second one. Those were damn good dates. Some women would kill for that kind of lavishness. Seems fitting date three we should be heading to a hotel.” He winked.
I wasn’t sure if it was the time change, my being tired from restless sleep on the plane, or if it was possible this man could say anything and I wouldn’t be offended. Why am I not I offended?
When I didn’t respond, he continued. “I’m glad I saw you. Didn’t think I would ever see you again.”
“That might be because you didn’t look for me.”
“I never thought you’d actually take my suggestion and fly to Brazil.”
I mumbled. “Neither did I.”
The cab driver interrupted, looking between us to ask, “You share cab, yes?”
Surprising me, Carter answered. In Portuguese. The language that sounded choppy and frustrating just two minutes ago, suddenly sounded sexy and romantic.
He turned back to me in English. “What hotel are you staying at?”
“I was just trying to figure that out with a little help from Google. Do you have one to recommend?”
“You trust me to pick out where you’ll stay tonight?”
I considered his question for a minute. It was illogical, that much I knew, but I did trust him to pick my hotel. Lord knows why. “I think I do.”
That response earned me another sexy grin that had me more excited than I’d been in the last year.
Almost a half-hour later, we were finally off the highway and traveling into what looked like a residential neighborhood. “Barra da Tijuca.” I read the street sign aloud.
“Very good. I should probably warn you. It’s probably not the type of hotel you’re used to.”
“What does that mean?”
“You look like you’re more of the luxury chain with a spa type of woman, that’s all.”
Even though that was exactly what I’d typed into Google, when he said it that way, it sounded like a bad thing. It made me defensive. “And what’s wrong with a luxury hotel? Sometimes a girl needs a massage and a soak in a nice bathtub while traveling.”
“Well, you certainly won’t be getting either of those where we’re heading.” Carter caught my eye. “Unless I’m the one doing the massaging, that is.”
I blushed, which caused Carter to chuckle. “You really are fucking adorable. I’m not sure what’s sexier, the fact that you’re up for letting me take you on this little adventure, or that you secretly like the thought of me giving you a massage.”
“I do not!” My quick, defensive response only confirmed he was right.
He leaned to me. “Do, too.”
“You’re off base.”
“That’s a shame. I’ve been told I’m really good with my hands.” He held out his hands in front of him, examining them. Big hands. Hands that looked like he used them to do some actual work when he wasn’t flying a plane.
