Synopsis

MALIYA

Falling in love is not for me. I don’t do relationships, they never end well.
I don’t believe in fate, soul mates or happy, fairy tale endings. I’m definitely not a sweet little princess in search of her prince.
I have a plan to follow and falling in love is not part of that plan.
Nothing is going to change my mind.
Not even a domineering, gorgeous, blue-eyed firefighter who seems to be everywhere I go.

CALEB

The moment I saw her, I knew.
I knew the funny, curvy, raven haired beauty was supposed to be mine.
She may not agree with me at the moment, but I’m a patient man.
I’m not afraid to play dirty to get what I want.
And I want Maliya Abbott.

When her sister decides to move from London, across the Atlantic Ocean to Starling Falls to run an estranged relative’s bakery, Maliya Abbott is pretty sure her sister has lost her ever-loving mind.

Not wanting to be separated from the only family she has left, Maliya goes with her, a move that was only supposed to last a year. After all, training to be a doctor at the same University her parents did had always been her goal.
What she hadn’t planned on, was meeting Caleb Jameson. A man who is adamant they are destined to be together. That would be great, if she actually believed in any of that crap.

She also hadn’t planned on his insane, lovable, meddling family trying to derail her plans.

Maliya is a smart girl. She knows what she wants and what she doesn’t want. She definitely wants to go to Oxford University and train to become a doctor. She definitely does NOT want anything to do with Caleb Jameson.

Now, if only she could get her stupid heart to listen to her head.

Authors Note: 18+ For mature readers only. Book contains graphic language, scenes of a very sexual nature, a dirty-talking and determined alpha male, a sassy and food obsessed heroine who talks to herself far too much, a cynical and suspicious geriatric aunt, a meddlesome family, some very unhelpful friends, a mind controlling goldfish and a possibly cannibalistic cat…

REVIEW

Falling Completely is Aidan Willows’ debut novel, and she did a great job penning this funny, sexy, sweet story.  I liked all of the characters – there were A LOT of them introduced here – and I’m looking forward to some of their future stories. I love a small town romance, and she painted a picture of Starling Falls that was vivid and richly developed.

“Oh how perfect. A firefighter and a nurse. It’s like a Hallmark Movie.”

I really liked Caleb and Maliya, or Liya as most people call her, together. They had an immediate spark, and Caleb was hot in pursuit of Liya right from the start. He was a great hero, a perfect blend of sweet and sexy, and let me tell you, Caleb no problem ramping up the alpha when he needed to. What started out as a friends with benefits situation, though, slowly and very sexily burns into more. Family dinners, movie nights, text message bantering, and some seriously steamy between the sheets—and on the front porch—action paves the way as they both fall harder for each other every day.

“…this thing between us is the real deal. If you don’t believe it, that’s fine. I’ll believe it enough for the both of us.”

But Liya is only in Starling Falls temporarily. She has plans to return to London, so she is hesitant to get involved with the sexy firefighter. She is one feisty, sassy-mouthed chick, but what is she hiding with all that smart-alecky spiritedness? Their chemistry is undeniable and impossible to ignore, but will Caleb be able to break through Liya’s walls or will her fears and guilt get the best of her and send her running?

“What…am I doing? I don’t want to live a life filled with regret.”

Maliya’s relationship with her sister, Annika or Nika as Liya calls her, was also hilarious, and Aunt Trudy was a crotchety old woman with a mile-wide sarcastic streak – I loved her instantly. Caleb comes from a big, boisterous and in your business family, and the possibility of stories down the line for each of his siblings has me adding Willows’ titles to my Goodreads TBR. (I believe the next book is about Nika and Caleb’s brother, Jake the chef.)

All in all, this was a pretty low-angst read; there wasn’t any drama from exes or other suitors in this relationship at all, and I really liked that. This book had so much humor in it, I found myself laughing loudly and often while reading it. There were some grammatical issues, wrong words or incorrect tenses of a word, that made for a few awkward stumbles, but I was able to keep my head in the story through them. Bottom line was that I enjoyed this story, and I wouldn’t hesitate to read more of this series. I was impressed with Aidan Willows’ debut, and Falling Completely gets 4.5 smooches from me!

Synopsis

Driven to his death by the demon of Distrust, Baden spent centuries in purgatory. Now he’s back, but at what cost? Bound to the king of the underworld, an even darker force, he’s unable to withstand the touch of another…and he’s quickly devolving into a heartless assassin with an uncontrollable temper. Things only get worse when a mission goes awry and he finds himself saddled with a bride—just not his own.

Famed dog trainer Katarina Joelle is forced to marry a monster to protect her loved ones. When she’s taken hostage by the ruthless, beautiful Baden immediately after the ceremony, she’s plunged into a war between two evils—with a protector more dangerous than the monsters he hunts. They are meant to be enemies, but neither can resist the passion burning between them…and all too soon the biggest threat is to her heart.

But as Baden slips deeper into the abyss, she’ll have to teach him to love…or lose him forever.

REVIEW

Like everyone else, I feel as though I have been waiting an eternity for the next book in the Lords of the Underworld Series.  These are my absolute favorite paranormal books.  There are a few reasons why.  Gena manages to create a very intricate and vivid world for her readers.  Her characters are hilarious and her heroines are always my favorite.  For this very reason, I have also been reading her Contemporary books lately and they are just as amazing.  So, I have to recommend that you read all of her work if you love this series, and then it won’t feel like you have to wait forever for this particular set of books.  Although, this series is quite fantastic and this book was no exception.  I adored it.

“Your hardest times often lead to your greatest moments.  So get hard.”

-William the Ever Randy

I know that everyone wasn’t expecting Baden’s story next but I am telling you that it needed to happen this way in my opinion.  I truly loved his and Katarina’s story.  Probably because I really love an over-the-top alpha male and that is exactly what Baden is, much to his own detriment.  And Katarina is no shrinking violet so there are many many crazy lovers quarrels which I thoroughly enjoyed.  I love me some angst.  And when they aren’t fighting these two are so very very hot.  The sexual tension was thick and full through out the entirety of the novel.

“All I want from a man is everything and nothing at the same time but different times, sometimes and never but always.”

-Kelleycael, the Red Queen

But, the main reason, that I feel like Baden’s book had to be right now was simply because Gena set up the next books in this series beautifully during his story.  I was seriously excited for Cameo and Lazarus, William and Gilly, and Galen and Legion before I read this book but now I am positively dying for these books.  These characters appeared quite a bit through out the novel as is common with Gena.  She always does such a magnificent job of setting up future books and I was just as absorbed in these side stories as I was in Baden and Katarina’s.  Also, revisiting with all of my favorite immortals always plays a significant part of why I love Gena’s novels and there were an abundance of hilarious scenes with my favorite angels, demons, harpies ect…

“If this situation sucked any harder, I’d have an orgasm.”

-Paris, keeper of Promiscuity

Basically what I am saying is that this book is just as awesome as the rest in the series.  Even if it wasn’t who we all wanted to be next or expecting for Gena to give us a book about.  I loved it and I cannot wait and I really mean CANNOT wait for the rest in this series.  But I will.  Because that is all I can do, is wait and run out and buy the book as soon as I can and support the authors I love by doing just that.

“Game of Thrones?  No.  Game of loans.  I’m going to loan my foot to your ass.”

REVIEW

I don’t know about you guys but I have been waiting like a crazy person for the conclusion of Margo and Alexander’s story.  It started off so very good.  I do love a book that is enemies to lovers to friends.  Haha.  I guess that is how you would describe it because this third book they seem to be putting a little trust and faith in each other and things seem to be finally coming together for these two while everything else is falling apart around them.

“I won’t hurt you.  I promise.  You can trust me with your heart.  Can I trust you with mine?”

As usual Yamada stole the show with his funny antics and sweet heart.  This one was funny, angsty, and sweet.  Personally my favorite was the first in this series but this last one was a close second.  These books are definitely worth a read so pick them up!

For The Win by Sara Rider Review

Synopsis

What happens when you fall for your biggest competition? Sara Rider scores with this charming romance about soccer stars battling their tough opponents and playing the field of love.

Lainey Lukas has sacrificed everything—sleep, family, carbs, a life—to earn her spot as the top player and captain of the Seattle Falcons women’s soccer team. She’s determined to lead her team to a national championship and finally earn the sport the respect it deserves—and nothing will throw her off her game. When Lainey’s hero Gabe Havelak, star of the Seattle Surge, crashes her team’s first press conference—making the Falcons look like a joke to the local media and humiliating Lainey in the process—she’s hell-bent on revenge.

Charming, confident Gabe is practically a god to Seattle soccer fans, but he doesn’t mind a little friendly competition from tough-as-nails Lainey, with her top-notch athletic skills, her mile-long legs, and her girl-next-door freckles. But when he learns the Falcons are booting the Surge from their coveted practice space to the notoriously cursed Cricket Field, those warm feelings give way to crippling superstition. With his contract up for renewal and his thirty-fourth birthday just weeks away, Gabe will risk anything to protect his position with the Surge.

The rivals agree to settle their differences in a Battle of the Sexes competition—a test of skills, fitness, and willpower. At first the situation seems win-win: Gabe gets the chance to earn back the Surge’s practice space, and Lainey’s team will finally get some much-deserved media attention. But as the friction between them becomes hot enough to spark and smolder, Lainey and Gabe are entering new territory—and with both of their careers on the line, love might just be the toughest opponent of all.

Review
“Then what? You think that just because you have some magical penis that you’re automatically better than us?” . . . “Oh my god. You really believe that, don’t you? That’s what this is all about. You think men are better athletes than women.”

For The Win was a surprisingly good find from a new author for me. I love me a sports romance especially one with a sport that gets less attention, like soccer. So the cover had me eager to jump in. Now this story is told in third person which I usually don’t enjoy but the writing is so clean and well down that I honestly had to go double check because I couldn’t even remember if it really was in third person. Sara Rider is a fantastic writer and her story was a wonderful slow burn romance that has me giddy for more from her.

‘He’d expected sex with Lainey to be explosive and angry, based on the kind of chemistry they’d had leading up to this weekend. He hadn’t expected to feel like his heart had been scrubbed raw afterward. This was more intimate, addictive and mind-blowing than he could have ever imagined.’

Gabe and Lainey have a bit of a rivalry going and in the process of constantly trying to one up the other and prove a point they end up spending more and more time together and what was at first a small spark grows to a full on inferno. Gabe and Lainey constantly bump heads. In the beginning of the book Gabe came across as a playboy with a laid back personality and Lainey comes off overly stick and regimented. She is very very serious and takes soccer more seriously than anyone else. But as the book progresses we find out there is so much more to these two and watching them discover this about one another makes for a great story. Sara Rider is definitely a romance author to watch and I for one am excited for the next book in this series.

Synopsis

Ethan Davenport is already Boston’s most eligible bachelor. In his second season with the Boston Renegades he has set his eyes on the girl behind the visitors’ dugout.

That girl is Daisy Robinson, a journalism student at the University of Boston and a die-hard Renegades fan.

But with new found love comes challenges and Ethan and Daisy have to deal with his crazy schedule, school finals and his presence on her campus for some much needed media training.
For Ethan nothing can come between him and Daisy, until a secret that she’s been keeping threatens to destroy them both.

Review

I am a big fan of sports related romances so I was really excited to start reading Third Base. This is my first book by Heidi McLaughlin and I have heard amazing things about her. Sadly, I was slightly let down by this one but I do look forward to trying out a different book by her in the future.

The entire book is told from the hero Ethan’s point of view which is something I typically enjoy but this time I think it left me feeling unconnected to the two main characters. We are constantly told there was a spark between them but I personally had difficulty feeling it. I believe this book could have benefitted with a bit more dialogue especially between the H/h. Now it was not all a let down, there were some really cute and endearing parts of the story as well. I loved that she was a fan and sat behind third base and he called her his “Third Base Girl.”

The overall story was nice and the writing was clean but something along the way just didn’t work for me. However everyone looks for different things in books so if you are a sports fan, specifically baseball, and love a book told from the man’s pov give this one a shot.

STRIPPED TEASER 2

“Hi,” I said into the phone. “What’s up?”

“Me,” he rumbled back. “I’m pretty sure I’ve been hard all fucking day.”

I swallowed. Was this phone sex? I’d never done phone sex before.

“West?”

“Yeah?”

“Are we going to have phone sex?”

He paused. “Do you want to have phone sex?”

“Are you hard?”

“I’m always hard when I think about you.”

I felt like I needed to preen a little. “I’ve never had phone sex before.”

“What kind of assholes have you been dating?”

“You really don’t want to go there. We’ll be here all night. I mean, seriously. I bore myself at this point.”

“You’re rambling. Are you drunk?”

“I wish,” I mumbled. I needed to be drunk to phone-sex, didn’t I?

Yes, I decided, blankly staring at my TV. I did. And not just any kind of drunk. I needed to be absolutely hammered.

“You didn’t answer the question, Mia,” he said softly.

Oh. Right. Did I want to. Well, I had looked at that picture several times…

“Yes. I want to.” I was officially crazy. I’d lost my mind. No doubt about it.

“Where are you right now?”

Through the phone, I heard a door shut.

“Are you in bed?” he asked.

“No.”

“Get into bed. Take your clothes off first.”

His tone was commanding and strong, and before I could think it through, I was in my room, my phone was on the bed, and I was stripping down to my underwear.

I picked the phone up and climbed in bed. “I’m in bed.”

“Good.” His voice was a little gruff. “What are you wearing?”

I bit down on my lower lip and glanced at the scarlet-red underwear set I had on. “Hold on.” I brought up the camera on my phone, kicked the sheets to the side, and took a photo of myself using the front camera. It was good enough, so I texted it to him. “Check your messages.”

He was silent for a good few seconds. Then there was, “Jesus, Mia. Fucking hell.”

“Do you…like it?”

“Like it? You look sexy as fuck. If I were with you right now, I’d rip those fucking panties off you.”

“And do what?” Look at me go.

He laughed slightly. “Kiss you,” he answered roughly, all traces of laughter from his voice gone. “I’d run my hands up your body as you wrap your legs around my waist.”

I swallowed, my clit aching as the low tone of his voice mixed with his words turned me on.

“I’d kiss down your neck and unclasp your bra so I could touch your gorgeous tits.”

My hand hovered as I contemplated doing it—and then I did it. One quick fiddle with the clasp between them and my bra cups fell to my side. My nipples were hard, and I cupped my right breast, my thumb ghosting over my nipple.

“I’d take them in my mouth. Roll my tongue over your hard nipples until you moan beneath me and beg me for more.”

My eyes closed.

“And then I’d kiss my way down your stomach to those tiny, red panties.”

My hand took on a life of its own as it followed his words. My fingertips trailed down the center of my stomach until they brushed the waistband of the red lace thong.

“Then what?” I asked.

“Then I’d peel them down your legs and, once they were off, open your legs so I could see your wet little pussy.” He exhaled. “Are you naked?”

“Yes,” I replied softly.

“I want to see you.”

“Will you send one back?”

“Yes.”

“Okay,” I whispered. Then I awkwardly took a picture.

Luckily it wasn’t blurred, and no sooner had I sent it to him than one came right back. No face, just like mine, and my eyes skipped right over the hot body to where he looked like he had a tight grip on his cock.

I struggled to right my breathing. I was even more turned on now, seeing that he was too.

“Fuck, Mia. I’m so hard for you.”

I swallowed. “Are you touching yourself?”

“Yes. But, if you send me another picture like that, I won’t need to.” He paused. “Are you touching yourself?”

“Not yet.”

“Touch yourself. Now. Open your legs and slide your fingers over your clit.” The demanding tone was back, and I loved the thrill that danced down my spine on a shiver. “Rub it and put a finger inside your pussy. I want to know how you feel when you fuck your own tight pussy.”

My heart pounded in my chest as I did what he’d said. I slid my hand down between my legs, ghosted a fingertip over my clit, and bit down on my lower lip as I pushed my middle finger inside myself.

“Move it,” he ordered me, his voice gruff. “Rub your thumb against your clit. Fuck your own hand, Mia, and imagine it’s mine. Imagine I’m there watching you finger yourself and get off.”

Synopsis

We found each other where no else could.

Found a purpose. Found ourselves. Found love.

Again.

But then life got in the way.

Three years later and the people that we once were are nowhere to be found.

Can our love survive everything we’ve put it through?

Can we find a way back to each other…

Again?

Review

‘I can’t wait any longer. There has been too much time lost. I want to start living again. And I can only do that with him. Tucker Lynch. My husband.’

Carrie Aarons is a recent find for me and this is the third book of hers I have devoured in as many months. I love her voice and the unique stories she creates. The writing is clean and the plots dynamic. Found has proven that once again she can continually surprise me and give the story I need not the story I expect.

“I love the woman I married. The one from the woods. But this person, right now? I don’t really like her. I’m not thrilled with this version of the person I married.” I look right at him. “I guess that makes two of us then.”

When Found starts we have moved three years since the end of Lost and EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED. Nothing comes easy to Tucker and Charlotte and adjusting to their new reality is no different. While Lost was all about the passion and reconnection of two old lovers in the midst of an action packed and dangerous situation, Found is about what happens when the excitement dies down and we all have to pay for the consequences of our actions. A bit slower paced than its predecessor but that is needed to dig through all the emotional pain and drama that follows these two around.

‘Char is my addiction now.’

Much like Lost, I was riveted from the very beginning and absolutely loved the fact that nothing comes east for these two but instead they both have to put the work in that is necessary for them to find their HEA. It has become abundantly clear that Carrie Aarons is an author not to miss and I for one cannot wait to see what she brings next.

Review

‘He was . . . perfect. Defined pecs and tight biceps. Endless toasty brown skin, gleaming with sweat. A perfect swirl of lighter hair dusting his chest and traveling down washboard abs. He had an actual eight-pack. Not six. Eight.’

The best way I can think to describe this book is as a perfect summer beach read. Light on drama but full of exciting characters the book as a whole gave me a happy feel. Morgan and Caleb are working together building a house for a famous couple but finding keeping their relationship strictly professional is becoming more and more difficult with each day that passes. Both have more than enough drama already in their lives and no not need to add mixing business with pleasure to that.

The series follows the three Pierce brothers who have become estranged as they got older. Now with the death of their father they are forced to work together to save the family business or they will all three lose the legacy. The brothers themselves were a highlight for me. Each is so vastly different and their temperaments do not always mix which helps fuel just enough drama to keep the storyline going.

‘Oh yeah. Morgan Raines was gonna be a hell of a lot of trouble. But also a hell of a lot of fun.’

Everywhere and Every Way was an easy read that was pretty light on angst. For me personally it did start a little slow but by the time I got into the guts of the book I was hooked on Caleb and Morgan. I really enjoyed their dynamic, especially the way Morgan never was afraid to stand firm and give Caleb hell. For his part, Caleb, was a strong and protective man who also had mastered the art of dirty talk. Told in third person, which is not my favorite, the story flowed nicely and I will enjoy seeing where the stories of the other brothers takes us.
