The Prince & The Player by Tia Louise Review
4.5 Smooches
Synopsis
Cinderella plays dirty…
Two brothers: One a crown prince; one a “playboy prince.”
Two sisters: One a con artist and card shark; one a pickpocket and petty thief.
One twisted plot for revenge.
When Grand Duke Reginald Winchester is exiled in disgrace, he vows he won’t go down without a fight. Crossing paths with Zee Wilder and her younger sister Ava at a gambling resort in Miami is the stroke of luck he seeks.
Zee is the counterfeit courtier in Reggie’s plan to humiliate Rowan, the controlled heir who kicked him out of the kingdom. In return, the sisters get a permanent spot on Easy Street.
If only Zee didn’t keep finding herself in a clutch with Cal, Rowan’s playboy younger brother. Ava’s no help, as she finds quiet walks in the moonlight discussing poetry and leadership with the brooding, future king irresistible. Even more irresistible is kissing his luscious lips…
The whole plan is falling apart, and neither sister is sure she wants to stop it.
Review
“I like that you see me as a man first. You’re not looking for anything. You don’t have an agenda.”
WOW! This book took me on a such a journey and this review is not going to be super long because of everything involved I want you to be able to experience the same twists and turns that I did.
‘I never expected MacCallum Lockwood Tate. Even if I had, I would never have been prepared for him.’
I don’t know if this will make sense to you all but this entire book read like a movie in my head with scenes playing out in my head vividly. Full of romance, desire, mystery and action, this was a book that had me constantly flipping pages to see what would happen next. With four main people making two couples but only two POVs the storytelling in The Prince & The Player was incredibly refreshing and unique.
‘He’s so dirty. Who knew I’d be so turned on by his wicked mouth.’
Down on their luck sisters Ava and Zee are brought in to manipulate the crown prince Rowan in a scheme to help an exiled Duke. But the two sisters never intended to fall for the heir and his brother the prince, Cal. While so many lies and manipulation take place from the sisters, Zee (a con-artist) and Ava (a pick pocket), I still could not help but feel for them and the situation that is forced upon them. My heart felt for these two but it is another part of all together that loved Rowan and Cal. These are two deviously sexy princes who are wildly protective and refuse to give up the women they love without a fight. While Rowan was sweet, Cal is wickedly sexy and I love him so so so much.
“I had sex with a king. Correction, I had sex with the king. I pretty much spent the entire night last night having orgasms. Can you believe it?”
Let me end this review by stating that yes, this is part one in a duet BUT no it does not have a bad cliffy at all. The end makes it clear that HEAs are happening and several loose ends tied up. For once when reading a duet I did not curse the author. It is clear that Tia Louise made every effort to give you an HEA with knowing that there are still issues that need resolving and plot developments that need exploring. I am eager for the next book but just because I want more of this group especially Cal who stole my heart completely.

Jasper Storm
What kind of person willingly drives a thirty-six-foot racing machine at breakneck speed through ten-foot waves?
The kind that isn’t put off by the possibility of smashing his nose against the steering wheel if he has to come to an abrupt stop when racing around the track—that’s who.
Today though, Lake St. Clair tops out with uninhibiting two-foot waves at the most, and my speed is tempered by the amount of passengers on board.
Classic Beatles is playing from the speakers on deck. Drew is leaning back in the cushions of the wraparound benches behind me with a beer in his hand. Jake and Shannon are sitting up in the sun loungers on the bow, both also with brews in hand.
Sitting at the helm, Charlotte is standing next to me in a simple black bikini that shows so much skin it is driving me crazy, her mounds of blond curls blowing in the wind making my fingers itch to run through them, and her sunglasses preventing me from seeing her blue eyes. I wrap my arm around her and guide her to stand in front of me. “You take the wheel.”
“I haven’t driven a boat in years.”
Standing, I pull her even closer. My board shorts feeling tighter by the second. “It’s like riding a bike.”
Looking over her shoulder at me, she gives me a quick kiss on the cheek. “I’ll give it a try,” she says.
Just that slight touch of her lips ignites a fire that starts to flame through my veins. When she takes the wheel, my body is ablaze. Unable to keep my hands off her, I compromise my need to touch her by covering my hands over hers. The cast prohibiting me from making the full connection I’m craving. I hate that she still bears the mark of her attack. I shove that thought away.
It’s a beautiful day, sunny as fuck and not a cloud in sight. The wind has picked up a little the further out we go, and when the softness of her hair brushes against my neck, it sends a shiver racing down my spine.
Taking a seat in the captain’s chair, I pull her onto my lap. The slight curves of her body fit me perfectly. Unable to compromise any longer, discreetly, my hands roam her body. Sliding down her thighs, up her arms, tucking under the small fabric at her hips. I can’t help myself.
Ten minutes or so goes by as we pass over the water like it’s a sheet of glass. I kiss her—her neck, her throat, her jaw. Take a little nip at her shoulder and then soothe it with my tongue.
Concentrating on driving, I’m surprised when she unexpectedly tips her head back so we can kiss.
The instant douse of arousal I feel is unlike that from the small flirtatious moves I’ve been making. This is full-out sexuality. Our lips meet, softly, gingerly. She’s sitting on my thigh, and her ass is against my cock. She shifts a little and I groan softly against the wet slide of her tongue, and all the muscles in my body knot in sweet tension. The fire in my veins bursts into flames from the slight friction, and all I want is more. The pull and push of the connection we share seems to be growing stronger every time we’re together.
Unlatching her lips from mine, she turns back and focuses on the open water.
She feels it too.
The tightening in my cock, the rapid beat of my pulse, and the taste of her left on my tongue puts me into a state of overdrive. I hold onto her fingers, squeeze them, press my naked chest to her bare back, and try to temper my need for her.
Taking what I can, I then inhale a deep breath. Unable to calm the storm raging inside me, I know I have to take action. This isn’t a storm of conflict, this is one of pure male need. “You have to stand up,” I murmur into her ear.
Again, she tips her head back. “Why?”
“You know why.”
The little vixen shifts a little more and grinds a little harder against my cock.
“Behave,” I growl and quickly stand up, bringing her with me, and then I ease up on the throttle and put the cabin cruiser in neutral.
“What’s going on? Jake asks.
I switch the engine off. “Taking a quick dip,” I tell him as I narrow my eyes at Charlotte.
She shrugs all innocent like.
“Remind me to spank you later,” I whisper in her ear.
Surprisingly, I see a thrill in her eyes.
Waggling my brows at her, my little problem is only growing, so I quickly hop up to the side of the boat and dive into the lake. The water is fucking freezing out this far and just what I need. For now anyway.
Splash. Splash.

REVIEW
Following on from the explosive cliffhanger in the first book we are once again thrown straight into the drama, lies, murder, betrayal, love and friendship that fills this little town and the lives of the people who live there, along with following the blossoming and intense romance of Jasper and Charlotte.
“I know it with a certainty that grips and twists my heart until it’s ripped from my chest. That chokes my throat with a panic like I’ve never felt before. That makes my skin burn with knowing dread. This time, I’m not going to get out.”
This was just as thrilling and exciting as the first read. We were left on such a cliffhanger that I was desperate to dive right into this and find out what the hell was going on?! Was Jasper going to stay in prison? Who really committees the murders? Was there more to come…. All these questions and more, I was desperate to find the answers to.
“I’ve grown into a woman I am secure to be. Because of him. I’ve accepted my past. Because of him. I’ve found love in him. Because of him.”
Jasper and Charlotte were the same destined to be couple as they were in the first. They so deserved their HEA and to finally get some peace rather than drama. Jasper was so strong willed and determined to be with Charlotte. He was protective, caring and wouldn’t let anything bad touch her. Charlotte was kind and sweet but was still strong and determined to stand on her own two feet no matter how many things tried to knock her down.
“…all I see when I look at her is the little girl who lived next door to me with the shining blue eyes the color of the summer sky and mounds of curly blond hair, who called me JJ.”
The plot was thrilling and intense. We really are thrown straight back in and from then on we don’t get w chance to catch our breathe. The murders and betrayal, the lies and the past; all keep us guessing and questioning what is going on and who is doing these awful things. At the same time we follow Jasper and Charlottes relationship while they are battling their way through all this drama. It’s an intense, sweet and sexy love and we really get swept up in it.
“Sweet, sexy Charlotte—a kitten and a lion. Mounds of dirty-blond hair. A beauty that is more than skin deep. My friend. My lover. Unexpected.”

Synopsis
What happens when the kink between the pages leads to heat between the sheets?
All Blake Crawford wants is to pass his creative writing course, get his university degree, and take over his dad’s ailing family business. What Amanda Newland wants is to graduate at the top of her class, as well as finally finish her novel and prove to her family that writing is a respectful career.
What Blake and Amanda don’t want is to be paired up with each other for their final project, but that’s exactly what they both get when they’re forced to collaborate on a writing piece. Since Amanda thinks Blake is a pushy asshole (with a panty-melting smirk and British accent) and Blake thinks Amanda has a stick up her ass (though it’s a brilliant ass), they fight tooth and nail until they discover they write well together. They also may find each other really attractive, but that’s neither here nor there.
When their writing project turns out to be a success, the two of them decide to start up a secret partnership using a pen name, infiltrating the self-publishing market in the lucrative genre of erotica. Naturally, with so much heat and passion between the pages, it’s not long before their dirty words become a dirty reality. Sure, they still fight a lot, but at least there’s make-up sex now.
But even as they start to fall hard for each other, will their burgeoning relationship survive if their scandalous secret is exposed? Or are happily-ever-afters just a work of fiction?
REVIEW
Wow, I just finished Smut and I wanted to get started on this review right away before I forget everything I want to say about it and there are quite a few things. First of all, I have read a lot of Karina Halle’s books but this one was a bit different from her others and I think that this may be because it is a light romantic comedy. I am definitely used to more angst and drama from her but this one was really fun, hilarious, and sexy. Don’t get me wrong, it also had a bit of the drama that comes with being a New Adult so I guess you could call this one a New Adult Romantic Comedy. And you guys know how I love my NA. Definitely a winner.
‘She’s a nerd on the streets and a freak in the sheets.’
Since I am most definitely a romantic book nerd there were so many great things that appealed to me about this book. You see, Blake and Amanda want to be serious writers and they want their parents to take them seriously about it. But when they write a small novella together for a creative writing class final project they nail it and they decide to write together and publish some smut on the good ole Amazon. And this is when the book really starts to get good. Because these two immerse themselves in writing these books and boy does it get smoking hot!!!!!
“You better get used to this talk darling because you’re going to be writing it. There’s nothing but honey cunts and pre-cum rim jobs from here on out.”
Did I mention that this book is laugh out loud funny? Especially if you are familiar with some of the books in the top 100 on amazon. Then you will definitely get a kick out of these sexy nerdy people writing some of these $.99 romances! Seriously, Karina Halle nailed it!
‘Riding Hard: a bad boy crime boss MC menage forbidden second chance romance standalone’
Seriously, certain parts of this book had me rolling. But there were also some very sweet moments between these two. Blake and Amanda virtually go from hating each other to being writing partners, to being friends with benefits to more and it was awesome and hilarious to watch them on their journey. Karina Halle never lets me down. I just love her books. Pick this one up now! It gave me all the warm fuzzies with plenty of laughter on the side.
“She doesn’t have my affection, my future or my heart. You do, Amanda. You do.

She holds my gaze for a moment and something passes over her. Regret, maybe. Then she nods. “Sit down. Let’s work.”
And so we do. And for the first time in a long time, it’s strained. I’m about to suggest maybe we need the Estonian vodka anyway when she lets out an exasperated sigh over something she’s reading.
It happens to be something I wrote.
“What?” I ask, wondering what I did wrong.
She gives me the the ‘are you kidding me?’look. “Okay, I was ignoring it earlier but I think you need to get a grip on some of this shit. This simply does not happen.”
“Explain, please.”
“I just think it’s unrealistic for there to be so much talking, let alone the fact that the first time they do it it’s in a public place.”
“Too much talking?”
“Yeah.” she scans over the document. “You know, give me your cock, oh you feel so good, harder, harder, you’re so big, fuck me harder big boy.”
“Have you even had good sex?” I ask incredulously.
She flinches. “Of course I have. And it’s none of your business.”
“We’re writing about sex. It’s completely my business. I’m not letting you interject your edits based on your personal experiences about sex because believe me, if the sex is good, you’re moaning my name.”
She raises her chin. “Maybe all those girls were faking it.”
Oh, brilliant.
“Excuse me?” I say, hands pressed against the table, nearly getting out of my chair. “You have no idea. I pride myself in giving a girl as many bloody orgasms as she can handle.”
“Bloody orgasms don’t sound like fun,” she jokes softly.
“They can be if you’re into knife play,” I tell her, even though that’s not exactly what I meant. Still, she scrunches up her nose. “Don’t knock it until you try it, but that’s neither here nor there. When you were with Alan, he must have made you come at least a few times.”
If he didn’t, I feel like finding the guy and showing him a thing or two for wasting four years of her life.
“Yeah,” she says flatly.
“And in the middle of that orgasm, didn’t you want to yell a few things?”
“Sometimes.”
“And why didn’t you?”
She looks at her nails as if they’re suddenly fascinating. “It didn’t seem right. It was…too intimate. I would have felt dumb. He didn’t like any of that stuff.”
The plot thickens. “Any of what stuff?”
“Sex that didn’t involve the missionary position or the bed.”
My mouth drops open. My brain and penis can’t compute this. “I feel so sorry for you.”
We must remedy this.
She glares at me. “It’s not like I didn’t want to do it. I did. And he did try it. Most of it. But it always went back to the same old.”
I knew it. She’s a nerd on the streets and a freak in the sheets.
“I don’t mean to brag,” I tell her in all seriousness. “But you do realize that I could give you an orgasm in thirty seconds.”
Her eyes widen. I can’t tell if she’s horrified or intrigued. “I don’t believe you and I don’t want you to try.”
She’s not getting it. I frown, trying to explain. “If you’re having good sex and it’s with someone you’re comfortable with, you won’t worry about holding back. You’ll cry out all the nonsense you want, you’ll make noises like a pig and scream like you’re on fire because you truly can’t have a good orgasm unless you’re letting go on all accounts.” I lean back in my chair and study her, running my fingers along my jaw. “I would venture that every time you came with your ex, you were only experiencing half of what you should have been. How is it with your vibrators?”
I expect her to tell me to fuck off, that I’m getting too personal but to my surprise she gives me a small smile. “It’s better. But I do have a roommate with exceptionally good hearing.” She clears her throat. “Anyway, so I guess I’m wrong. The heroine can make all the noise she wants.”
“And have first time sex in public.”
“I don’t know…”
“Believe me, when you finally get a chance to fuck, you don’t care where it is. That’s why I always have a condom in my pocket. And the more public the sex, the sneakier you have to be, the hotter it is.”
“But in the book you would never get caught.”
“You don’t always get caught in real life too.”
I can see she wants to ask me where I’ve done it but she loses her nerve. “Okay.” She looks back to the document. “I accept defeat.”
But I don’t want her to. I want to prove to her I’m right and not have her take my word.
Is there a non-creepy way to show her just how amazing good sex can feel? I’m thinking not.
Or…maybe there is.

Wicked Heart by Leisa Rayven Review
5 Smooches
Synopsis
Liam Quinn is talented, gorgeous, and one of the biggest movie stars in the world.
He’s also the only man Elissa Holt has ever truly loved.
After being out of her life for six years, he and his gorgeous fiancé are set to star in the new Broadway show Elissa is stage managing. The only trouble is, when late night rehearsals bring Elissa and Liam together, the line between what is and what could have been gets blurred, and one moment of weakness will lead to a scandal that echoes around the world.
Elissa knows that falling for Liam again would be a tragedy in the making, but as any good romantic will tell you, love doesn’t always follow the script.
Review
‘He said he loved me. That he missed me. That some actors might fall for their leading ladies, but he never would. And I believed him.’
Wicked Heart is an engrossing tale of former lovers pushed back together to work on a show after years has passed. Stage manager Elissa and famous actor Liam have a past filled with hurt and betrayal. Elissa never thought she would have to see the man who broke her again but now he is the star of her show and ENGAGED to his co-star. No one knows the pain she feels since she has been silent all these years about their secret love that didn’t last. But being close together makes it clear that neither has ever moved on.
“See? This is the problem. I’ve spent years trying to block out how you look. And sound. And feel. And before the show, I’d gotten pretty good at it. But now, here you are, in front of me every day, and it blows my mind that a single touch from you still has the power to ruin me.”
Leisa Rayven weaves a captivating tale that is both sexy and powerful. I ached inside for the pain Elissa suffered for Liam but still I could never bring myself to dislike him. Do you know how hard it is to write a man that can betray the woman he loves spectacularly and yet still make him not just appealing but make it impossible not to fall for him. Elissa has the same problem and while it would be so easy to hate him and his fiancé somehow the way they are both written you just can’t. Elissa and Liam’s second chance is hard earned and will definitely cause a few tears but the story is one you must experience.
‘I’m not against being aroused in general, but being aroused by this particular man is a recipe for disaster.’
In every book that Leisa writes you can tell that acting community is near and dear to her heart. She weaves aspects of the craft so seamlessly and beautifully into the story it makes me regret not staying in drama and set crew past high school. I love that she mixes her two loves when she writes and each story is endlessly better for it. Her tales are beautifully crafted and deeply personal and this translate into her books constantly being on lists of my favorites and this one is no different. I adored this story and I can’t wait to experience whatever she puts out next.
“Ask me to give up a limb and I swear, I’ll find a way to do it. But don’t ask me to live without you anymore. I can’t.”
Leisa Rayven can simply write a second chance romance like no other. My heart may hurt a bit till the very end and I may have end up with a book hangover that is almost impossible to move on from but it is a hurt I love so much and the HEA is always worth it all!

Synopsis
When rescue looks like a whole lot of trouble . . .
The road trip was definitely a bad idea. Having already flambéed her culinary career beyond recognition, Rita Clarkson is now stranded in God-Knows-Where, New Mexico, with a busted-ass car and her three temperamental siblings, who she hasn’t seen in years. When rescue shows up—six-feet-plus of hot, charming sex on a motorcycle—Rita’s pretty certain she’s gone from the frying pan right into the fire . . .
Jasper Ellis has a bad boy reputation in this town, and he loathes it. The moment he sees Rita, though, Jasper knows he’s about to be sorely tempted. There’s something real between them. Something raw. And Jasper has only a few days to show Rita that he isn’t just for tonight—he’s forever.
Review
“I didn’t get near enough time with you, Rita. If you don’t show up tonight, don’t be surprised if I come looking.”
Too Hot To Handle is a fun easy read about a group of siblings who have grown apart but trying to reconnect on a road trip their deceased mother wanted them to take. The first book in a new series this one focuses on disgraced chef Rita who is unable to live up to her celebrity chef mother’s legacy. While on the road trip from Cali to NY their vehicle breaks down in a small town and a hot man on a motorcycle comes to the rescue.
“It’s okay, Rita. I like my fucking a little rough and a lot dirty, too.”
Jasper has always been the town manwhore and now that the illustrious bar owner is ready to settle down no one will take him seriously. When the out of towner, Rita, he rescues from the side of the road makes it clear she is passing through and only interested in a one time thing he is hurt yet still unable to leave her alone. But when she gets trapped in town longer than expected and can’t keep herself away can more develop or will this be another sad end for Jasper?
“Someday someone will stay afterward. I promise.”
I will say that third person is just not my favorite but that is a personal preference and everyone is different. Jasper and Rita’s story is full of light and fun situations with dabs of drama mixed in. Being the first in the series I did find it a tad slow at times while everything gets set up for future books. Overall I loved the siblings and Jasper was a wonderful mix of motorcycle riding bad boy and sensitive lunch every weekend with grandma good boy. I really enjoyed him and he was definitely the highlight of the book for me. Though I will say that the drama and angst built up for Rita’s 2 bother’s books has me eager to continue and see where this series goes.

Review
Kady Hunt began this story by wading right into the thick of it. The problem for me was that I felt like I started in the middle of a story, and I had a hard time making sense of what was going on for nearly the entire first half of the book. There was just so much going on, I felt as though I couldn’t even blink because if I did I’d miss something important and then I’d never figure out what exactly was happening.
While I eventually got the gist of the plot, I’m definitely not comfortable enough with my understanding of it to recap it. The story was sometimes a little convoluted and, in parts, a bit unbelievable—at least for this jaded reader. It jumped around so much that it felt very disjointed and choppy. While this book mainly focused on Holden and Jamie, the points of view frequently shifted between the two of them AND Holden’s three friends—Teague, Sebastian and Daniel. Although this book is billed as as a romance, I felt that the romance was definitely a secondary subplot.
For the majority of this book, I just couldn’t shake the feeling that I was missing something. I went back and reread parts often. The way the plot was unfolding wasn’t making sense to me, and as a result I didn’t really feel that I fully understood what was going on or why it was happening and as such, I had a hard time becoming invested in this story. I didn’t fully understand the relationships between the players, and because of that, I found it extremely difficult to connect with any of them. There are so many players, but without getting a back story on any of them, they felt underdeveloped to me.
The reason I’m comfortable giving Kady Hunt’s Perfect three smooches is because even though there are some crucial elements to this story that just didn’t work for me as a reader or for my personal reading preferences, I can still appreciate the quality of the author’s writing. It was strong, and I reacted strongly to it. There were so many twists and turns, and while I wasn’t a fan of all of them, the author still handled them well. Perfect is the first book in Hunt’s #Hashtag series, and I assume as each book releases more and more of this story will unfold, at least that’s what the set up in this book leads me to believe. My biggest problem was that there was just too much going on, and I was left with too many unanswered questions. This felt like a cliffhanger, and I personally don’t appreciate going into a cliffhanger without knowing that I am doing so. I was, however, intrigued by this story, enough so that I finished it, but in the end, I was left feeling a bit frustrated when I finished it.
It all boils down to my personal preferences, and the fact that this type of story isn’t quite my thing. But, if you don’t mind a story that will unfold over the course of multiple books, if you enjoy enough twists and turns to rival a carnival ride, and if you don’t mind waiting for your questions to be answered, then I’d recommend you give this book a try because it has all of that. As I stated, the writing was good and the story concept was intriguing, and for those reasons, I’m giving it 3 smooches.

“I want a chance to win you over,” he breathes, peering at me. The way his eyes search mine make it seem like time stands still. “Will you let me try?”
He forces a swallow and the look of hesitation, the internal fight he’s having, isn’t lost on me. It’s there, right beneath the surface, and when I add my concerns to the mix, it’s enough to make me balk. Just a bit.
“I’ll think about it,” I whisper, holding on to the little strand of courage I have left.
“Say yes.”
Instead of responding, I ask, “Where’d you get that scar over your right eye?” I reach out and press gently on the raised skin. I expect him to pull back, but he doesn’t.
My hand shakes as I touch his warmed skin. His forehead is silky and smooth. I’d like to run my hands over every inch of it, feel it ripple beneath my fingertips.
The corner of his lips twitch. “Lincoln hit me in the head with a baseball.”
“Bad reflexes on your part?”
“Wicked curveball on his,” he says, his face breaking out into a full smile.
“I thought he played center field?”
“He does. But he pitched some growing up.”
We stand inches apart, my hand gently brushing down the side of his face. Although I feel like he’d stand here all night and talk to me, it’s not possible.
“I really need to get back to work,” I say, trying to unlock my eyes from his.
“Dinner? This week?”
I can barely resist the look in his eye, the one that implores me to say yes. The one that makes me believe he really does want to have dinner and spend a few hours with me.
I need to get away, put some space between us while I can.
“We ran into each other tonight,” I shrug. “If we’re supposed to see each other again, then I guess we will.” I start to turn away before I completely buckle under his gaze.
“How am I supposed to get ahold of you? I don’t have your number,” he calls after me.
Heading up the steps to the Savannah Room, I glance at him over my shoulder. “You’re the Mayor. Figure it out.”
