I tragically lost my sixteen year old daughter to a drunk driver. She had just been at home, it was early in the night and I heard the accident happen. I’ll never forget that moment. The sirens were immediate and something inside me just knew. I left my house, drove straight to the accident on nothing more than instinct. I got to be there when my little girl died – weirdly, I consider that a true gift from above. She didn’t have to be alone.
That time in my life was terrible. It’s everything you think it would be times about a billion. I love that kid. I loved being her mother and I loved watching her grow into this incredibly beautiful person, both inside and out. She was such a gift to me. To have it all ripped away so suddenly broke me.
Her name was Kindle. Honest to goodness – it was her name and she died a few weeks before Amazon released their brand new Kindle ereader. She had no idea it was coming out and she would have finally gotten her name on something! Try finding a ruler with the name Kindle on it.. It never happened.
Through the course of that crippling event I was lucky enough to begin to write with a dear friend in the fan fiction world of Facebook. She got me through those dark days with her unwavering support and friendship. There wasn’t a time she wasn’t there for me. Sometimes together and sometimes by myself, we built a world where Kindle lives and stands for peace, love and harmony. It’s its own kind of support group. I was introduced to Tess Oliver’s sexy, contemporary and stylish level of writing when I managed to consume her Custom Culture series inside a week and every book she’s ever written thereafter inside three months. Amazingly Cole crosses into both her Custom Culture family and her Strangely Normal rock star family bringing them all together once again, lending a level of whimsical nostalgia to this story, but if you haven’t had the chance to read either, fear not for Cole is the fresh beginning for a brand new fast paced and super sexy series.

Kensington ( what a fantastic name!) is our heroine of the piece. Although it is a ridiculously cute but calamitous meeting of these two seemingly different protagonists, it paves the way for these two complex and multifaceted heroes to find out they have more in common and a deeper connection than either thought possible.
As always, Tess is a word maestro, she brings the steam, eloquence and thrill, but not before building upon all of that riotous sexual tension and witty flirtation, making sure her characters are engaging and interesting. I was so ecstatic to find out this was a spin-off from one of my best loved series’ and stand alone books and I was beyond thrilled with how Cole turned out. It is jam-packed with suspense, idiot men making idiot mistakes, a striking heroine, some tender moments, hot sizzling scenes and a beautifully crafted romance set in a male dominated sport.

It’s just a regular ringtone. For me, though, it’s the wail of a war siren, and I’m immediately alert. There is only one person who has this number, and I didn’t expect him to use it again so soon.
The tile is cool against my bare feet as I roll out of bed. I collect the phone from the nightstand with one fluid movement, unhindered by sheets or the morning sluggishness that an average person might face. Stepping through the propped-open patio doors and onto the balcony, I answer with a low, curt “Yeah.” The sky is just beginning to lighten over the quiet bay. Dozens of boats sit moored below, their passengers lulled into deep sleep by the ocean air and rhythmic waves. I’m high enough up that I’m not likely to offend anyone with my lack of clothing, especially at this hour. Not that I’m truly concerned by it.
“Ice.”
The code name is a sharp contrast to the warm breeze skating across my bare skin. My adrenaline begins to spike, all the same. Hearing it means that I will be forced to leave this haven soon. Sooner than I had hoped.
“How is recovery going?”
I instinctively peer down at the angry red scar on the outside of my thigh, where a bullet drilled into my flesh and muscle just three weeks ago, outside of Kabul. I nearly bled out before I made it to the doc. He patched me up on a makeshift operating table, buried deep in a maze of rooms, and charged me a hefty price.
“Like new,” I lie.
“Good.” Bentley’s voice is rich and smooth, a welcome sound in a sea of strangers. “Where are you now?”
I peer out over the beautiful vista of crystal blue water and whitewashed stone buildings, the volcanic rock cliffs in the distance, reluctant to divulge my location. I sank a good chunk of my last payout on renting this one-bedroom villa for the month. It’s my private sanctuary, where I can revel in anonymity and peace for a while, before finding somewhere else to drift to.
Bentley has never asked before.
But he also has the technical capabilities to trace this call. If he really wants to find out, then he will. In fact, the second I picked up, he probably already had his answer. “Where do I need to be?” I say instead.

Sebastian has had a rough time in life and it show in the way he continues to attempt to survive. In my head I would have never have put these two complete opposite together but somehow when it comes from the brilliant mind of this amazing author it all works beautifully

I will forever read anything that K.A. Tucker writes. I have read most of her books and not once been let down and Surviving Ice is no different. Intense and full of mystery, action and characters unlike any other I was intrigued from the start and excited to see where it was going. Once again K.A. Tucker proved why her books are automatic one-clicks for me!

OK. So, I basically have never read a Tillie Cole book before in my life. I have purchased many and I hear stellar things about them so I took this opportunity to review this one since I had heard such amazing things. And while I may have been hella confused the first 25 percent of this book I ended up absolutely loving the love story aspect of this book. You see, Luca is one of the main characters in this book and apparently there is a whole book about him and his life involving the italian and russians mobs and injecting humans with super human serum that make them crazy killing machines. So I missed all of this in his book so I was completely confused for a bit and then I caught on and man this story was really amazing.
“You are … for me?”
221 is a killing machine and has been enslaved by his master for over 20 years. His story is completely heart breaking. He has been given no love or kindness or light in his life since he and his twin were abducted at age 8. Talia doesn’t want to love much less like 221 but the heart wants what the heart wants and he is IT for her.
‘The betrayal to my family was complete; realized and profound. But so were my feelings for Zaal.’
This story really was a special one. It was almost like a modern day tale of Beauty and the Beast complete with forbidden love. And the writing. Tillie Cole is an amazing writer and I completely get why everyone loves her books. I will defintely be checking out more books by her in the future. Even though it took me a while to catch on to the story in this book I still gave this 4.5 stars because the actual romance part of the story was top notch and the writing was just fabulous!

“Thank fuck!” Sam said, swinging the door open before Devon even had the car in park.
“Oh, this isn’t my place. We’re just dropping Devon off. I’m about twenty minutes across town?” I tossed him a sugary smile then boldly shifted my hand into his lap, purposely brushing the bulge under his denim.
Grabbing my wrist, he narrowed his eyes and called out, “Devon, I’m gonna need to borrow a bedroom.”
I burst out laughing as Devon cursed loudly.
“Fine. This is my place. No smoking inside though,” I snipped as I climbed from the SUV.
“You better have some seriously exciting extracurricular activities to keep me distracted, then.”
“I have Ping-Pong!”
“Not exactly what I was thinking.” He mischievously cocked his head. “But I guess paddles and balls are as good a start as any.” Dipping down, he hoisted me over his shoulder. “Point me to the Ping-Pong table, my lady.”
I didn’t. I laughed hysterically as he carried me inside. Then I directed him to my bedroom instead.
I heard Devon locking up the house as Sam deposited me on the bed.
“Jesus. This view.” He pushed the curtains back. “Why the hell would you ever go up to the bridge when you have this here?”
“I don’t know,” I answered, pulling my earrings off and placing them on my nightstand.
Oh, but I knew. It might not have been what had originally sent me up that bridge, but it was why my feet carried me back every night. And that very reason was currently standing in front of me with entirely too much clothing on.
“You want a beer?” I asked, sliding my shoes off.
“Nah, I’m good.” He faced me, and I could tell something was off with his demeanor. He didn’t inch any closer. Instead, his lips were tight and his eyes uncomfortably flashed around the room.
It suddenly didn’t feel like Sam standing in front of me at all.
He felt like a stranger who had just come face-to-face with Levee Williams.
Damn it.
“Why are you looking at me like that? Are you about to freak out?” I whispered, nervously moistening my lips.
He shoved his hands into his pockets. “I’m not really sure yet. But I’m gonna need you to stop licking your lips long enough for me to figure it out.” His mouth cracked into a wide grin, and my shoulders relaxed.
Now that was a flash of my Sam.
“Want to tell me what’s going on?” I asked.
“It’s just… I think this is the first time I’ve realized that you’re some big-time celebrity. I might be in over my head here, Designer Shoes.”
“I just make music, Sam.” I returned his smile and very slowly prowled in his direction. “Imagine how I feel though. You’re Samuel Nathan Rivers. A tough, tattooed furniture designer who makes six figures a year but is too afraid to tell his mommy he votes democratic.” I giggled as he frowned humorously. Stopping in front of him, I dragged a fingernail down his chest then teased the waistband of his jeans. “Have you considered that maybe I’m the one who’s in over her head here?” I leaned forward to nip at his lips, but he spun us around.
“Excellent point. I’m going to need you to try really hard to keep it together, Levee. You haven’t even seen my six-pack and huge cock, yet.” He smirked and attempted to return my nip, but I stepped out of his reach.
“You brought beer and chicken?” I feigned excitement.
That one corny joke was all it took to bring my Sam back completely.
With a sexy smile and a coy shrug, he seductively backed me toward the bed. “What can I say? I like to be prepared.”
“Clearly,” I breathed.
He moved in close so his lips were only a centimeter away, but for as much as I wanted him, it was agonizing. “Clearly,” he repeated, his smoky yet sweet breath breezing across my mouth.
His strong arm looped around my waist, tugging me against his chest, while I stared into his hooded eyes, eagerly waiting for him to make a move.
Any move.

Review
I have read all of Aly’s work and I do really really really enjoy her books. They are some of my very favorite out there. Original stories with fantastic writing and sexy alpha heroes are always the main themes of her books. I admit, though, I was apprehensive about reading The Fall Up. I typically shy away from books about famous people. I find it hard to connect with the characters in these types of books. The themes, most of the time, usually do not appeal to me. So, I thought maybe I had finally encountered an Aly Martinez book that just ‘wasn’t for me’. I was SO wrong. Because Sam Rivers may just be my most favorite book boyfriend ever of her’s. He is sweet, totally over the top, and just a genuinely good character. Like right from the heart good. SIGH!
“I’ve never in my life wanted to lose myself inside a woman more than I do with you. In my driveway. In my bed. In my car in the middle of a hospital parking lot. Anywhere. Levee.”
So. probably the best part about this book is that it isn’t really about “being famous”. I mean Levee is a very famous pop star but that isn’t what the main plot of the story is about. This book actually deals with some very sensitive and emotional subjects.
“I’m fine.”
Levee and Sam have a lot to overcome, Levee especially and while this book might deal with some very heavy topics, it is broken up so well by bouts of hilarity and awesomely funny characters.
“Damn it. Why is heterosexuality such a cock block?”
So, I guess what I am trying to convey is that the book reads mostly like a rom com. Even the main characters are just gloriously humorous. The Fall Up is full of snarky texts, sweet words, and hilarious come backs but it has plenty of feels for all of the angst lovers out there. And Sam. God, Sam. What a fabulous character Aly has given us in him. He is a beautiful soul through and through and the amazing things that he does for Levee in this book literally made me tear up. I don’t know how Aly comes up with these authentic ideas for her guys but they ALWAYS surprise me.

So, as you can tell I was wrong. I went into this book with the totally wrong perception of it being “another famous person book”. It is so incredibly different. Sexy, smart, heart felt, and hilarious are all words I would use to describe this amazing book. It is a must read, folks. so make sure to pick this one up ASAP!
