Review

I was beyond excited to see a Lori Foster book on Netgalley. I immediately clicked request and since I had not yet read the first in the series I ran off to read No Limits. Can I just say I am so excited to be reading these books.

I am a HUGE fan of both Alpha Males and Fighter books so Holding Strong was right up my alley. Reading reviews I can say not everyone loves insta-love or the craziness that comes with an alpha male but for me personally these are selling points not deterrents.

Denver wants Cherry and after quickly getting down to business he decides that her flirty nature is not working and he will not share. Boy I love a take charge man! I mean I really do. But no worries because flirt or not she is only interested in Denver.

Lori Foster, as always, delivers a sex on a stick alpha who knows how to say things that just get me all hot and bothered! The story was intriguing and moved along fast. Lori’s writing keeps me intrigued and her fighters make me only want more. Now hurry up and bring on Armie

Only For Her is the second book in the Only Serial by Cristin Harber and cannot be a standalone. If you have not read the first book please do not read my review as it may have some spoilers for that book. Only for Her picks up three years after Only For Him has ended and a lot has changed.

Emma has forgone a university for community college, a dance career for stripping on Wednesdays and her biggest sacrifice has been her youth and happiness to raise the daughter she had with Grayson that he never got to know about. Grayson Ford walked out of her life three years ago to join the military and now Emma has been told that he is dead and feels like her heart is breaking all over again. Gossip is often wrong and Emma finds that out the hard way when a supposedly dead Grayson calls her out of the blue. He is back and determined to fix what he messed up. But can they move past her secrets and his abandonment . . . only time will tell!

Middle books in serials are often tough for me. We move past the initial excitement of a couple coming together but are not quiet at the HEA yet. However, Cristin does a wonderful job of keeping the excitement happening and the story evolving. Grayson has grown up to a sexy alpha of a man and he will not take no for an answer. He was the highlight of the story for me. Emma has changed and gone from a carefree girl living with a perfect family to a single mother struggling to get by. While I loved how she has evolved I would have like to see a bit more of her struggle, such as some time in the strip club she works at.

The Only series has me hooked. I cannot wait to see these two who have been through so much finally get their HEA. If you love serials and especially if you love New Adult you must give this a try!

Dangerous Temptations is a stand-alone novel by Brooke Cumberland that is full of suspense, sex and deceit. I was wrapped up in from the very first page and was full of anxiety the entire time I was reading trying to decide who she would end up with and who I wanted her to end up with. Dangerous Temptations is a wickedly sinful love triangle full of lies, deceit and a taboo relationship that will make you feel awkward and excited all at the same time!

“Come on, Mac, tell me. Does he fuck you uncontrollably like I did?”

 Mac comes from one of the hardest positions in life to rise above, homelessness. She has worked hard in life to get a good internship and make something of herself. So when she meets and eventually gets engaged to a wealthy man she met through work everyone assumes she is after his money. But she loves him, she cares for him and then she cheats on him. One drunken night led Mac down a rabbit hole of questionable choices and forces her to look at her life and try to understand what it is that really makes her happy.

“I’ve already had a taste of you . . . on my tongue, on my cock. I’ve already been buried deep inside of you as your tits bounced in my face. I didn’t need to chase that hard in the first place, so if that were the case, I’d stop wanting you.”

I loved Alex from the moment I met him. He was kind and funny and clearly was not willing to let go of the chemistry and connection he feels with Mac. When their moment of passion is over and Mac tries to move on she quickly finds their personal lives intertwined in a way she never expected and while her brain tells her to keep as much distance from Alex as she can for the sake of her sanity and her impending marriage, her heart won’t let her.

“Fist the sheets, baby. Grab ’em, Don’t let go.”

Dangerous Temptations is scorching HOT and exciting. The sex scenes were addicting and full of intensity. I won’t give away any big plot spoilers but just know that the nature of Alex and Mac’s forced position in each other’s lives only makes the magnitude of their desire and pull to each other that much more electrifying. I couldn’t decide if I loved them together or wanted them to break apart and for her to put her focus on repairing her relationship with her fiancé. The twists and turns the story took constantly had me changing my mind but by the end everyone ends up right where you want them!

Let’s talk for a second about that cover. . . OMG . . .could that cover get any HOTTER!  A cover for me really sells the book and this one does an amazing job. Even if I had never read a Brooke book before I would have one-clicked based off that cover alone. However, I have read a lot of Brooke Cumberland’s work and enjoyed them all but I have to say she does taboo relationships extremely well. She knows just how to get you to that uncomfortable yet arousing place that makes you desperate for more.
