Review

“Sweet Possession” is the follow up to “Sweet Addiction” and is a continuation of Reese and Dylan’s story. I loved the first book so I was super excited to read this one and  J. Daniels did not disappoint!
When we last left Reese and Dylan they had just been reunited after a lengthy and heartbreaking separation. Fast forward a few months and they are busy planning their wedding all the while juggling family, friends and work.  Just Like the first book these two have amazing chemistry and there is no shortage of hot and sexy scenes. These two can’t be in a room together very long without ripping each other’s clothes off! Also along for the ride in this follow up is Reese and Dylan’s posse of friends. I love this whole group and each member brings something great to the story. It’s not all fun times and steamy sex though, these two have more than their fair share of drama and obstacles on their path to wedded bliss!

This book was an absolute joy to read and I am definitely a big fan of J. Daniels work! I’m not sure if she is planning any more books in this series but I am personally requesting that Joey and Billy get their own book. I love those two!!!

Review

“Watched his expression grow hot, almost feral, as if he wanted nothing more in that moment than to touch me – to take me. Do it, I though. Right here, right now, just do it and let me have thought and reason back.”

So I had previously read J. Kenner’s Release Me series and LOVED it and when I saw the invite to Ignited I jumped all over it. I had not yet read the first two in the series and being in a time crunch this month did not have time to read them before starting Ignited but I was told this could be a standalone so that is how I went into it! I had absolutely no problem reading this one without having read the first two but I will say that this so good I definitely want to read the first two now.

“It’s okay, I won’t break.” “Don’t be so sure blondie. I’ve been knownto destroy even the most resilient things.”

These books each revolve around one of the three men who make up the powerful yet slightly shade Knights in Chicago. Ignited is Cole’s book and he is all kinds of messed up and sexy. Both Kat and Cole have demons in their past trying to show their heads and while both of these two desperately want one another only Kat is willing to give into this. Cole cares for Kat so deeply he will do anything to keep her safe, even as far as making sure she never gets involved with the likes of him. I loved how messed up in the head Cole was and how he was definitely the hero in the book yet not altogether a good guy. I like a shady man and to say Kat likes one too is an understatement

“I liked pain – not pain by itself, but pain that came from him. From our shared passion. I wanted him to have that – the power to hurt me. I wanted him to keep it close like a gift. Because somehow that made me his.”

Ignited was all kinds of sexy and hot! Cole needs power and pain and Kat soon realizes she kinda needs to be dominated (at least by Cole) The way these two just fit made for a beautiful love story strung around a BDSM book. While the sex in the book is definitely a bit kinky I honestly believe that everyone would enjoy this story and should give the series as a whole a try! J. Kenner’s writing is wonderful and she can definitely pull you in and keep you entertained!

“Here’s the bottom line. I’m fucked up, Kat. But you’re fucked up, too.”

Synopsis

The rules: no kissing on the mouth, no staying the night, no telling anyone, and above all… No falling in love.

Anna Jones just wants to finish college and figure out her life. Falling for star quarterback Drew Baylor is certainly not on her to do list. Confident and charming, he lives in the limelight and is way too gorgeous for his own good. If only she could ignore his heated stares and stop thinking about doing hot and dirty things with him. Easy right?

Too bad he’s committed to making her break every rule…

Football has been good to Drew. It’s given him recognition, two National Championships, and the Heisman. But what he really craves is sexy yet prickly Anna Jones. Her cutting humor and blatant disregard for his fame turns him on like nothing else. But there’s one problem: she’s shut him down. Completely.

That is until a chance encounter leads to the hottest sex of their lives, along with the possibility of something great. Unfortunately, Anna wants it to remain a hook up. Now it’s up to Drew to tempt her with more: more sex, more satisfaction, more time with him. Until she’s truly hooked. It’s a good thing Drew knows all about winning.

All’s fair in love and football…Game on.

New Adult/Contemporary Romance with a HEA – Recommended for readers 17 and older.

Review

I feel like so many authors are writing New Adult lately and when New Adult is done right, I absolutely love it.  It is steadily becoming one of my favorite genres and I am so glad that I decided to read The Hook Up because it is in my top 3 NA favorites EVAH!  I knew I was going to love this book from page one.  The wit, football, public sexy time, and Drew.  Oh Drew.  We will get to more on him in a bit, but I just have to tell you he might be one of my very favorite book boyfriends OF ALL TIME.

So, I think from the synopsis you get the just of the story.  Hot jock quarterback Drew, who is like the star of everything meets Anna, a trendy hipster curvy chick with self esteem problems .  He wants her immediately.  She shies away; too introverted and shy for a relationship in the spotlight.  Oh, I know.  I know your are thinking pshhh…I have read this a million times, but you SOO haven’t.  Drew and Anna’s characters are complex and they are different from any other NA couple I have read.

“Why won’t you let me kiss you, Anna?”

I can’t breathe.

“Why, Anna?”

“It’s too much,” I rasp.

“Not when I want everything.”  He says it so deep and strong, a staking of claim.  “And I want everything with you, Anna.”

You see that big puddle on the floor.  Yep, that is me, because Drew turned me into a hot mess of teary eyed love-sick goo.  Drew is kind and patient and loving while still managing to be devastatingly sexy.  I have no idea how Kristen managed to write him so beautifully.  I am sure, like me, most of you like these NA asshole douche-bags that boss the girls around and go all alpha on them.  I certainly do.  They make me all hot and bothered, but Drew took it one step further.  He was so hot and such a dirty talker, but man, he was so good.  The biggest difference from most other book boyfriends and Drew was his candidness. He was always honest and up front in his feelings for Anna; never hiding, never pretending that he didn’t want everything from her. Swooooonnn!

God, having her love me does me in.  It makes me feel as weak as a fucking kitten and as big as a fucking mountain.

And Anna.  Oh Anna, you broke my heart.  For once this chicky wasn’t falling all over the adorable jock 5% into the book.  Anna is REALLY apprehensive.  She has all kinds of issues stemming from  childhood abandonment and being the “dorky” kid in high school.  Bless her heart, she just felt so undeserving of Drew and I could hardly stand it.  It made me incredibly sad.

I don’t just see Drew.  I see the star too.  And I’m just Anna.  I don’t like the light.  I need the dark.

Kristen really surprised me how she took the story.  I  never knew what was going to happen next and I often found myself surprised by these two beautiful people.  It was refreshing not to be able to correctly guess what would happen and why.  It was incredible that Anna took her time and was thoughtful about her relationship with Drew; not moving into his home the day after he showed her interest.  After her experiences in life, her apprehension was valid and I felt for her so much.  Drew even knew that he couldn’t rush her.

He’s slowly carving his name into my heart.  And it hurts.

This whole damn book was refreshing and new.  This is how NA should be written; with real girls with real problems and with sweet kind boys who are sexy as sin with dreams as big as the sky.  I loved the football team spirit, camaraderie, and humor.  I enjoyed the complex relationships with their friends.  But, mostly, I enjoyed Anna and Drew together.  They are hilarious and romantic.  This book pretty much had it all.  I laughed, I cried, I loved.  A fabulous story on top of fabulous writing.  I seriously cannot wait for Gray’s story.  Go on, buy The Hook Up now.  I dare to meet Battle Baylor and not love the shit out of him!  It is freakin impossible!

Synopsis

If there’s one thing Cleo Reynolds knows, it’s that she’s not into Adrian King.

The son of a model with the looks to prove it, the experienced author of her school newspaper’s sex advice column, the cocky playboy with a hint of darkness. That Adrian King.

Nope. Nuh-uh. No way.

The problem is, he’s very into her.

After accidentally flashing him, and slightly-less-accidentally-but-still-totally-unintentionally making out with him in front of the whole class, she expects to be called crazy. Instead, he asks her out.

Cleo’s determined not to end up as another notch on his bedpost. Except she hasn’t done…you know…it in a while. (Read: ever.) And as a girl who pays her tuition by writing all the sex scenes in her roommate’s bestselling romance series, the lack of inspiration has served up a fat slice of writer’s block.

Until her roommate proposes that Cleo and Adrian act out all the steamy scenes in her book.

It’s just research. No feelings involved.

Nope. Nuh-uh.

No way.

Excerpt

“Christ,” Adrian finally mutters after a good half minute of staring at my body. He runs his hand through his hair.

I’m not saying my grand plan is to make him so worked up he’ll have to satisfy me. And then I can move on with my life.

I’m not saying that’s my plan, but if it were, I’d be an evil genius.

“You too,” I smirk, trailing my fingers down my bare waist. “That shirt looks expensive. Wouldn’t want to mess it up.”

Not taking his eyes from me, he pulls his shirt off, back over front in that casual way boys have. I gasp. Doves zoom overhead, sprinkling golden confetti. A chorus of angels sing. Okay, not all that actually happens, but it’s the first time I’ve seen him shirtless.

And that chest deserves some fanfare.

His torso is tan, lithe and strong, the hard contours of a six-pack-verging-on-eight-pack begging to be licked. Every ounce of him is sculpted, refined. Just looking at him floods my abdomen with tension. There’s a swirling tattoo on the left side of his ribs, but I’m too busy thinking about how I want to mount his torso on my mantelpiece like a serial killer to dwell on it.

My roommate looks between us, her eyes narrowed. “You two seem to be getting along much better today.”

If by ‘getting along’ she means ‘staring at each other with enough sexual tension to hoist the Titanic from the bottom of the sea’ then yes.

“Remember, guys,” she says. “Last time was more about the romance between the characters. Their first kiss. This is purely sexual.”

At the words ‘purely sexual’, a shiver grips my spine. I think Adrian might be similarly affected, because he hardens all over. And I mean all over.

“Come on, then,” I muster up the courage to say, fingering the lacy edge of my panties. “Inspire me.”

Prologue

This isn’t the

first time I’ve woken up in a stranger’s bed, lying next to a woman I don’t

recognize, in a city I can’t remember.

Ibiza?  Paris?  London?

The only thing I know for sure is that I’m in Europe somewhere.

Quietly exiting

the bed, I search around on the floor for my pants and shirt.  Looking over my shoulder, the same scene

that’s played before me so many times is no different—gorgeous woman, half

covered by a sheet, hair perfectly mussed and her arm draped where I was just

warming her sheets.  I could probably

wake her and judge by her accent where I am, but then I’d actually have to

engage in conversation with her and I’d rather slip out into the early morning

light.

Being only a

mediocre partner, I’ll never know who she is, nor will she know me.  It kind of works out good this way, though.  No need for awkward goodbyes, uncomfortable

calls and broken promises of meeting up again sometime.

I crack the

bedroom door, fully clothed, ready to make my escape into the night when the

woman starts moving.  Slowly taking my

hand off the handle and holding my breath, I wait for her to roll away, facing

the opposite wall and giving me a glimpse of her tight, pert ass and reminding

me what made me want to fuck her to begin with.

When I’m safely

on the other side of the door, I pause at the breakfast bar in the

kitchen.  Pulling out my cell, I text my

driver with the GPS coordinates and request him to pick me up as soon as

possible.  His reply is almost immediate.  Spotting my jacket and shoes next to the

sofa, I throw them on and pull a business card from the breast pocket.

Just because I

don’t want to have the awkward conversation about where our ‘relationship’ is

heading, that doesn’t mean someone

won’t speak with her.  My system—the one

I’ve developed over the years—works flawlessly.

I’m a callous prick, but they know that going in; they just think

they’ll be the one to save me from my

foolish ways.

Writing a

number four on the back of the card, I leave it on the counter and slip out the

front door without a second thought.

See, this is

how it will go.  The unknown brunette

will wake up in a few hours from her orgasm-induced coma and notice me

missing.  The first thing she’ll do is

check the bathroom.  When she realizes

I’m not in there, she’ll make her way to the kitchen, undoubtedly thinking

she’s cured whatever she assumes is wrong with me and I’m cooking her

breakfast.  Her shoulders will slump and

the smile will fade as she comes to the conclusion that I’m already gone.  Then she’ll see the business card and all

hope will be restored.

She’ll call the

number while practicing her sexy, husky, bedroom voice.  As my answering service comes across the

line, she’ll ask to speak with me.

She’ll be told that I’m on location for a job and am unavailable to

speak with at the current time, and then be asked to give the number on the

back of the card.  She’ll flip over the

card, see the four and tell the person on the other end of the line, who in

turn recites a very specific script.

“Ma’am, I’d first like to thank you for calling.  Dex will be quite busy for the next few

months to come, traveling for business.”  That

part isn’t a lie.  Being one of the most

sought after photographers in the world, I’m in high demand and spend a great

deal of my time shooting across the globe.  “We’d like to thank you on his behalf for the

enjoyable evening, and if Dex is ever in this part of (enter country, state or

province here) he’ll attempt to contact you.”

However, for any woman ranking under a seven, the service doesn’t

actually collect any of their information for me to contact them again.  It’s more to keep me safe from the

crazies—the women that think because they spread their legs, they’re entitled

to a next meeting.  For these women, the six

and unders, it’s a way of pacifying them so I don’t get stalked down and harassed.

These women

usually get pretty irritated when they can’t speak directly to me.  I’ve instructed the calling service to have

no problems terminating the call and blocking the number from ever being able

to call again.

Of course, with

the array of women I entertain, nearly all of them feel used by this

emotionless encounter and end up going through the typical stages of

grief.  There will be loads of anger,

frustration, denial and then finally acceptance that she was a one night stand

and will certainly move on with her life.

Sure, I’ve burned a bridge with this woman, but if all I wanted to begin

with was a night of casual sex and she wasn’t even that great at it, why would

I need to contact her in the future?

And just like

that I’m onto the next country, girl and potential blow off.  Now, this isn’t saying that if the woman is

absolutely phenomenal I won’t see her again.

There’s a whole other script if I give the woman a seven or higher.  Those girls, the seven to ten range, get a

more special treatment.  The answering

service will take all of their information, catalogue them for me by area and

store them in my version of a little black book.  If and when I’m around again, I’ll call them

up for another round or three in the bedroom.

I guess there

could be better ways to enjoy a one night stand, but this works.  With my career and status, it pays to be

discrete about these kinds of encounters.

The less they know about me, the better, which is why I usually keep

them to one night, unless I need a good lay if I’m ever in the area again.  It’s callous, yes, but it could be worse—I

could demean them by making these women sign some sort of non-disclosure

agreement in lieu of a night with me.  I

choose to let them live out whatever fantasy they’re having before I burst

their bubble.  See? I am a gentleman.

As I push my

way through the lobby doors—and by the concierge’s accent, I’ve determined I’m

somewhere in Italy—my car pulls up to the curb.

I slink into the backseat as he heads off to my hotel.

“Have a good

night, Sir?” Nicholas asks as he weaves through traffic.

“Four,” I

simply reply, rubbing my temples as I wish away the headache and sore muscles

that always come after a night of excessive drinking and bedroom acrobatics.

“Another one

bite your dick?” he chuckles, eyeing me through the rearview mirror.

“No,” I

laugh.  “This one insisted on calling me

daddy in her annoying baby voice.  If she

would’ve just kept my cock in her mouth, she could’ve been a seven, no doubt.  I don’t understand what it is with women

these days—nobody wants to hear a woman speak like a five-year-old, especially

when I’m trying to put my dick in her ass.”

Nicholas wipes

away his tears of laughter and raises the partition.  Shaking my head, I grab the bottle of aspirin

he keeps supplied for me and swallow a couple dry.

I lower the

glass just a crack, not even enough for our eyes to connect in the mirror. “How

long are we here?”

“Based on your

schedule, we’re in Milan until the end of the week, a few days in Paris and

then home.”

“Alright, wake me when we arrive at the hotel.”  Resting my head on the plush leather headrest

behind me, I drift off in a peaceful slumber.

God knows I didn’t get any last night.

Review

“I’m a callous prick, but they know that going in; they just think they’ll be the one to save me from my foolish ways.”

When I read the synopsis for this book I just knew I would love it. An asshole man who has sex with women around the world and when he is done he leaves a card with a answering service and rates them on the back, I needed to read this book and I am so glad I did.

“Thank you erotic romance novels. Men around the world are singing your praises.”

Dex is a bit of a jerk but truth be told he isn’t doing a ton wrong. The women he gets with know the score and are still down for a good time. Still when the world finds out about his dating lifestyle that doesn’t stop them from labeling it a sex scandal. Never mind the fact that he is a professional photographer who has never actually slept with his models. Well almost never, there was the one at the beginning who he cared deeply for but in the end she became his best friend not lover. And when his world blows up on him its her he runs to and hides out with her and her little girl.

“Sex scandal? How the hell is this a sex scandal? I wasn’t trying to hide anything other than my identity to protect the clients I had and my safety. I’m not a politician. I didn’t take an oath promising to keep my dick in my pants.”

I started reading this book because the premise was fun and new. I couldn’t put it down because even though he wasn’t a perfect guy or even the nicest guy I fell in love with Dexter. As much as a master as he was at sex and living the high rolling lifestyle when it came to love and relationships he was so innocent and had no idea what he was doing. I never expected him to be such a sweet guy and I desperately want more! Also, his BFF, former model now single mom Briar was awesome! She knew just how to deal with him and was always there.

“Ladies and gentlemen. No need to worry. All is right in the universe. Dexter MacFadden’s packed away his vagina and reattached his dick. Women of London, watch out, Dex’s on the prowl.”

Calling Card had just the right mix of story, great intriguing characters and good sex to keep me interested and the story flowing. The sex in the story while amazing was not overkill as sometimes in these books it can be but was definitely HOT and mixed in with just enough humor to keep me blushing and laughing the whole way through.

“‘It’s cute.’ And there goes my ego. My dick isn’t cute; it’s a beast . . . a monster . . . a weapon of mass destruction . . . not fucking cute.”

This was my first foray into Ashley Suzanne novels and all I can say is I will definitely be looking for more to buy and read!

***The powerful continuation of the story that began in Reclaiming the Sand- a tale of
love and forgiveness and learning to over come a past that has come to define
you.***

Bully and Victim
Friend and Lover
Past and Future
Ellie McCallum and Flynn Hendrick’s story was as painful as it was devastating. But they were able to find within each other
an unlikely yet beautiful love. Despite the obstacles that tried to keep them
apart.
And together they rose out of the ashes of their tragic history.
Now years after their life changing reunion Ellie is back in Wellston, having just
graduated from college and ready to start her future with the man who taught
her how to love. However, returning to a town that held so much bitterness and
anger was the last place she wanted to start over.
But for Flynn, who is now an art professor at the community college and firmly rooted
in the place that gave them their beginning, she’d do just about anything.
Yet it’s difficult building a life when you’ve only just learned how to live.
And love, no matter how strong, doesn’t always
conquer all.
Ellie and Flynn must learn how far they are
willing to go to stay together. Or whether the ghosts of the past will consume
them both.
Because finding a happily ever after is harder than it seems. Particularly when you’re
fighting against the one thing that could destroy you.
Yourself.

From the New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author of Find You in the Dark and Bad
Rep comes a story of forgiveness, redemption and finding love in the most
unlikely of places.
*THIS IS A STANDALONE WITH NO CLIFFHANGER!*
Bully and victim.
Tormenter and tormented.
Villain and hero.
Ellie McCallum was a bully. No connection to anyone or anything. A sad and lonely
existence for a young woman who had come to expect nothing more for herself.
Her only happiness coming from making others miserable.
Particularly Freaky Flynn.
Flynn
Hendrick lived a life completely disconnected even as he struggled to become
something more than that boy with Asperger’s. He was taunted and teased,
bearing the brunt of systematic and calculated cruelty, ultimately culminating
in a catastrophic turn of events that brought Ellie and Flynn’s worlds crashing
down.
But then Flynn and Ellie grew up.
And moved on.
Until years later when their paths unexpectedly cross again and the bully and the
freak are face to face once more.
When labels come to define you, finding yourself feels impossible. Particularly for
two people disconnected from the world who inexplicably find a connection in
each other.
And out of the wreckage of their tragic beginnings, an unlikely love story unfolds.
But a painful past doesn’t always want to let go. And old wounds are never truly
healed…and sometimes the further you try to run from yourself the closer you
come to who you really are.
