EXCERPT:
Ainsley tilted her head to the side. “I’ve never done a body
shot before. Should we try it?”
I gave Ainsley my answer as I ordered, “Two shots of tequila,
limes, and salt, Nora.”
Nora responded with a teasing tone, “You’re good, Ainsley.
Coming right up, boss man.”
Ainsley giggled as I looked around to make sure we didn’t have
any direct onlookers. We were in the dark part of the bar area. I spun Ainsley
around to the side facing the wall as Nora set down the salt, limes, and two
shots of tequila. Ainsley took the shot, downed it, and then sucked on the
lime. She scrunched up her nose as the alcohol burned her throat. I couldn’t
help but laugh.
“You forgot the salt, baby.”
She started coughing a little bit. “Ugh, that is harsh. Oh,
gosh.”
Nora came up and handed her a napkin. “I have done a disservice
to you, my friend. You need shot practice. It gets better with time.”
Ainsley took the napkin. “The problem is enduring the time it
takes to get used to it. Oh, I forgot how gross tequila is.”
“Oh, give your man his body shot, so you can get to those
orgasms he promised you. Be prepared for shot lessons soon.” I gave Nora a look
to give me privacy. She winked at me and turned her back and went to tend to
another customer on the other end of the bar.
Ainsley and I were semi-alone now.
“Are you ready, baby?”
In response, Ainsley dipped two of her fingers into the tequila.
Delicately, she ran it from the middle of her cleavage to the jawline of her
neck. Her nipples pebbled underneath what had to be a thin bra. She had on a
low-cut tight shirt and a short skirt that flowed out.
Damn.
Her mouth was slightly ajar as she grabbed the salt and covered
the path of the tequila with it. I placed my hand on the inside of her leg, and
I was tracing small circles as I made my way up higher on her inner thigh. She
raised her eyebrow, challenging me to check. Oh, baby, I’ll be happy to
oblige. I looked around again, and everyone else was otherwise engaged
with their fuck choice for the night. I noticed Tyler was with Jasmine again.
Ainsley looked me in the eyes. “I hope you’re ready to take me
to the Afterburn room after this. I’m in need of some serious attention.”
My hand went up her skirt and I felt that she was bare like she
had said.  “I think you need a little attention right now, while we do the
shot.”

Review

This was my first experience reading a Nikki Mathis Thompson Book and I can honestly say I really enjoyed it! I was hooked with the sexy heartbroken architect. While this is the second in the series I had absolute no trouble reading it without reading the first but I will say after reading this novella I would be very interested in reading more in this series.

“She cocked one hip to the side just ever so slightly and crossed her arms in front of her. He didn’t notice the heart shape her ample mounds made above the tight white tank she was wearing. No, not at all. Thoughts of motor boating would be totally inappropriate.  Then stop making the sounds in your head you hard dick.”

Ian has had his heart stomped on and in order to start over he is going to move from Dallas to Austin for a few months to work on a project. While there he stumbles into the bar down the street from where he is living and meets Trey (yes that is is girl and a nickname). Trey is a spunky and sexy bartender who Ian instantly connects with. While he finds her very sexy they form a very firm friendship long before anything happens . I love the wit and banter between them and was rooting for this one from the beginning.

“So this is what ir felt like? If he’d had tits this would be considered the walk of shame. But he didn’t have tits. No! He had a dick, a big one, and balls full of sperm. Hell yeah I do! No shame in his game.”

Enter everyman’s wet dream, Rory. Rory is the singer in the bar and instantly attracts men wherever she goes. Ian is no exception and when Rory needs a temporary guitar player to fill in, musically inclined Ian is happy to volunteer. The sexual chemistry of these two is off the charts and Rory might be just what he needs to move on.

“I miss you too, Ian. And have fun down there . . . and please, for the love of God, let someone play with your pickle.”

Oh love triangles, I have such a love/hate relationship with them. I can’t stop reading them but no other storyline gives me more anxiety. Nikki did a great job in developing characters you really real like you know and I am so happy I had the chance to read this fun fast read. BTW Emphasis on FUN! I LOVED the witty writing especially Ian’s banter with his best friend Maddie (the sister of the girl who broke his heart.)

With shaking hands, she stripped off her clothes, folded them and placed them on the dresser. Cool air conditioning embraced her naked body and she immediately

glanced down at her thighs.

A clatter sounded from the kitchen and she jumped in surprise. The noise reminded her she didn’t have much time. Remember Decklan wants you here. It was the last thought that gave her the final boost of courage to climb onto his king sized bed, ease her bare self back against the pillows and settle in.  But not before dimming the lights.

She didn’t have to wait long.  He strode into the bedroom with a bowl, spoons, and a bottle of chocolate syrup and a sexy gleam in his eyes that caused her stomach to flip with excitement.

He turned his gaze on her naked body.  She knew better than to think the lack of lighting affected his ability to see, except in her mind.  Only pride and the lessons learned tonight had her remaining in place.

She giggles and kisses my lips softly. “I live here, so I’m not escaping, frowny-face. I need to use the bathroom.” She wrestles out from underneath my hold, stretching her arm to the chair beside the bed. Sitting up on the edge, she slips on a satin robe before standing.

“Why are you covering up that body, babe? I was already hard waiting to watch you go,” I tease…except not at all teasing.

“What?” She glances over her shoulder with a sassy grin. “You don’t like it?” She looks at her silky attire and runs her hands over the robe enticingly. “I’ll have you know, I’ve been told pink is my color.” Her mouth turns down subtly the second the words escape; a faraway sadness ghosting across her eyes for a fleeting second before she quickly dismisses the thought away and fakes a smile.

Review

Conspire is not my first S.E. Hall book but it is my first Erin Noelle.  I have a couple of Erin’s books on my kindle but my TBR is so very very long, I haven’t had the chance to read them yet.  I need to bump them up because I really loved Conspire.  It was mysterious and sexy; a definite page turner.

Bryce is on a mission to find out what happened to his brother.  He is dedicated to the task; avoiding all possible distractions.  Until he meets his new boss, Jocelyn Craig.  Jocelyn isn’t immune to Bryce either.  She wants him right away and their flirting is a little funny and a lot outrageous.

I want some Bryce-flavored candy for breakfast, please and thank you.

There is an instant attraction between these two and their chemistry is off the charts; smoking hot!

“Be my spark, Bryce.  Set me on fire.”

Bryce wants to be with Jocelyn but all kinds of complications dealing with his brother hold him back.  This book had a heaping ton of the drama I so love, with a good dose of mystery, which is my next love.  But let’s talk about the sexy time, because this needs to be addressed immediately!  Bryce was a sweet heart…so damn sweet, but once he was in “sex it up mode”, all bets were off.  He was domineering and liked to dirty talk.  Whew.

So, basically what I am trying to say is that the sex scenes in this book were AHH-MAZING.  Like melt your panties off amazing.

“Will you still be thinking of that, tasting it tomorrow?”

Um, yes.  I absolutely will. 😉

I really liked that this was a pretty serious story with a very serious subject but the authors managed to still give me some wit.  I really like my angsty stories with funny characters and both Jocelyn and Bryce were damn funny!

“I’ll be at your place tonight, seven sharp, to eat.  You will be wearing that outfit, and by the end of the night, the only thing you’ll be mad about is that I only have one dick to fuck you stupid with.”

Basically, I loved the hell outta this book.  The writing was witty, quirky, and descriptive.  The characters made me fall in love with them.  The story was mysterious and steamy.  Guess you could say it ticked all my boxes!
