Blurb:
I had a choice, and I chose wrong.
I thought I lost everything. But when the smoke finally cleared, I discovered that I wasn’t alone.
Father Sullivan was a force – a living and breathing force, a forbidden desire I couldn’t resist. I didn’t want to resist.  But I wasn’t the only one who wanted him, and by all accounts neither of us should have him.
I had decisions to make, secrets to uncover. Both would tear my heart, my life, and what was left of my family apart.
I wasn’t going to take any chances this time around. If I’d learned one thing during my life, it’s that death is the only certainty. It’s a matter of when, not if.  For every action, there is a reaction. For every choice, a consequence.
If I hadn’t chosen to live again, I would have never known what life could be like …
With the Father

Excerpt

“It looks like Princess Aurora found her soul mate. Who am I to stand in between them?”

“Do you believe that?” he asked, his voice solemn.

“What?”

“In soul mates.” He cocked his head to the side and looked genuinely interested in my answer.

Of course, I believed in ‘the one.’ I also believed that I’d already lost him. “I believe that there’s one special person that is the perfect fit, and that it’s no coincidence when we find them. You?”

“Certainly, some are better suited for each other than others,” he said, nodding to the dogs sitting side-by-side at our feet. “But I don’t believe in ‘the one.’” He leaned against the trunk of my car and eyed me as if he thought I was made of glass and his words would shatter me. He was right to wonder.

Jonathan had been my soul mate. We’d been very young when we’d met – just nineteen. Yet, I’d known immediately that he was it for me, that he was the one. In fact, I’d called my mother the next day and told her that I’d met the guy I was going to marry. There had never been anyone else and he’d felt the same way. If that wasn’t the definition of soul mates, I didn’t know what was.

Father Paul seemed to sense my feelings on the subject but barged ahead anyway. “Have you ever wondered where it comes from … the idea of there being just ‘one’ perfect counterpart for every person?”

“Walt Disney?” I asked, pointing at Princess Aurora.

He shook his head. “Actually, it originated from the Greek philosophy of Plato who believed that man and woman are made of one body and separated by the gods, forced to spend their lives searching for each other so that they can be complete.” He was silent for a moment before continuing, “Obviously that goes against what I believe.”

“Each of us is a complete person all on our own. You are complete person on your own, Grace. That was true six months ago, and it’s true today. You may not feel like it, but even without him, you are complete.”

I scuffed the toe of my shoe in the dirt while I considered his words, noticing that he’d purposefully framed his argument without mentioning God.

Father Paul was walking a fine line with me and he knew it. He was being very careful not to say something that he knew would push me away; yet, he’d still managed to get his message across.

He flipped his ball cap around so that it sat backwards on his head. The act had the dual effect of revealing his face – and the utter sincerity etched across it – and returning the Greek mythology-spewing priest beside me to a mere mortal man again.

I crumbled just a bit.

His mouth turned down as he squinted into the sun. “Of course, I’ve never been in love like you have.”

Review

“I am completely wrapped up in him, loving how he devours me and loves me at the same time. He always makes me feel so cherished and needed.”

I was so excited to get back into the world of Ceci and Bentley. I was to be honest a little hesitant for this novella, mostly because now that they have gotten their HEA can Brooke deliver the drama and dirty talking needed to make me a happy blogger. The answer is yes!

“Sweet Jesus . . .he just pulled my panties down without even using his hands.”

While it is true that Bentley is now a sweeter and gentler version for the most part with Ceci, like any man when pushed he can turn into an asshole too! It is no secrets that asshole men in books is my weakness! Brooke proved that the sexiness doesn’t die when the ring is on the finger. But as we all know it cannot be all roses and happiness.

“When it rains, it fucking pours.”

Once the drama comes, it comes in spades! Between nosy press, exes showing back up and a soon to be mother in law who cannot seem to get the message that this wedding is not hers their lives have never been more hectic. Soon between both Bentley and Ceci both seeking their dreams they seem to be seperated more than they are together and it is just at that time all hell seems to break loose!

“She’s mine,”

One thing is constant though, Bentley is in love with Ceci and with love comes a super protective side to him. Oh boy do I love a protective man! After the Internship was just the perfect way to conclude The Internship Series. I have loved every moment with Bentley and Ceci and cannot wait to read more books from Brooke in the future!

“Hold the bed, baby.”

**Final book in the Reasonable Doubt series…**

Review

Squeeeee!  That is right.  I am in love with the Reasonable Doubt books and Andrew Hamilton.  Andrew makes me hot, swoony, and just downright mad.  He ticks ALL of my book boyfriend boxes.  This is the final instalment of the Reasonable Doubt Serial and before I delve into why it was my favorite, I would like to say….LOOK AT THAT DAMN COVER!

10579977_10154525567820414_709126498_n

LOOK AT IT!

I mean seriously, Andrew has a face and I am in love with it!  That cover is amazing and I could not be happier with it.

“Are you being serious right now?”

“Dead ass serious.”

OK, let’s proceed.  As I said before this is the final instalment of in the Reasonable Doubt Serial and I thought it was the best.  I have loved all three books but this one was fabulous.

The first two books were very very steamy and sexy and I loved them for it, but this book was so much more emotional and angsty.  There were so many unanswered questions in the last book and even though you want to hate Andrew, you just can’t.   He is too sexy.  Too much of a smart ass.  Too damn funny.  In this book we get even more of Andrew and all I did was fall more and more in love with him with every chapter.

“I didn’t want to like you, Aubrey.  I wasn’t supposed to, and I didn’t need to, but every day after that you were all I could think about.  You and your smartass mouth, and how your lies maybe weren’t so bad after all.”

AHH!  Andrew’s candor and bluntness only make the emotional bits all that more meaningful.  And sweet Aubrey, I am so happy you took the route that you did this book.  Your moment was waiting to happen and your strength shined through in this book!  It is rare when I read a book that I am over the moon about both of the main characters but Aubrey and Andrew stole my heart right from the beginning.  I love them both and am happy to report that the ending of this book was perfect.  I wouldn’t change a damn thing!

Whitney G. must be a damn genius.  Typically, I am not a fan of serials or novellas in general.  Usually, they leave me feeling empty; not enough back story or rushed in the end, but this serial changed that for me.  I loved it all; the ballerina struggling to please her parents and achieve her dreams, a damaged man determined to keep women at arms length, all of the law jargon and quotes at the beginning of each chapter, the steamy sex and even steamier dirty talk, and how all of these things come together to make brilliant books!

You will laugh out loud, cry, and get the feels!  These books just fill you up.  They have spirit and soul.  My absolutely favorite serial ever!

Amie

PS- You “missing me” would be a lot more convincing if the subject of the email you sent two hours ago wasn’t “I miss your pussy.”

Rival by Penelope Douglas Release Blitz and Giveaway

Title: Rival (Fall Away, #2)
Author: Penelope Douglas
Genre: NA | Contemporary Romance
Release Date: August 26, 2014
Synopsis

From the New Adult sensation and New York Times bestselling author of Until You
Madoc and Fallon. Two estranged teenagers playing games that push the boundaries between love and war…

She’s back.

For the three years she’s been away at boarding school, there was no word from her. Back when we lived in the same house, she used to cut me down during the day and then leave her door open for me at night.

I was stupid then, but now I’m ready to beat her at her own game…

I’m back.

Three years and I can tell he still wants me, even if he acts like he’s better than me.

But I won’t be scared away. Or pushed down. I’ll call his bluff and fight back. That’s what he wants, right? As long as I keep my guard up, he’ll never know how much he affects me….
Rival – Excerpt
Madoc jumped out of the car, not even caring to close the door behind him. “You stole my car?!” he shouted, peering down into the bowl.
With the headlights behind him, the area was well lit, and I tried to breath against the flutter in my chest.
He was here. We were alone. We were angry. Déjà vu.
This is what I wanted. It’s what I’d planned.
But I turned my back on him anyway.
I’d told myself time and again that I didn’t care what he thought of me. I didn’t want his heart after all. It wasn’t part of the equation. He didn’t need to love me or respect me for this to work. I would use him—get what I wanted—without worrying about whatever was in his head. It. Did. Not. Matter.
So why couldn’t I just draw him in like I’d planned? Why did I want to spit back?
“I didn’t steal it. I borrowed it, Princess,” I shot back.
He jumped down into the bowl, his flip flops slapping against the wet cement. “Don’t touch my shit, Fallon!”
“Oh, but you got to come into my room last night and touch me? You don’t get to have everything, Madoc.”
He stopped a few feet from me, and I felt the walls of the bowl close in as he stared. I expected more yelling and insults, but he just stood there, looking like everything that could destroy me without even speaking. Looking like everything that nearly did destroy me.
He was still dressed in only his board shorts and flip flops. No shirt. I guess he would’ve left the house in a hurry if he was coming after me. He’d changed so much in the years I’d been gone. His shoulders and arms were works of art. Madoc always liked to work out, and it paid off. He had a build like a quarterback, and he was tall. I wished I didn’t feel the invisible cord pulling me to him, wanting to touch him again, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t. We always want what’s bad for us.
Madoc was hot. He knew it. And he knew everyone else knew it.
But what was underneath the blonde hair, boyish blue eyes, and toned body was bad. He was bad.
And someday, his looks would fade, and his wife would just have someone bad. I had to remind myself of that. There was nothing in him that I should want.
The light rain blew around his face, and he blinked away the water dripping down his face. “You know? Whatever,” he sneered, looking like he was about to turn away. “I’m so over your bullshit, Fallon. I wish I knew what the hell you wanted from me.” His voice got stronger. “You act like everything’s fine around Addie and then you show up to my party dressed to impress down to your underwear around all of my friends, and then you bring up my party two years ago.” He got in my face. “What do you want from me?” His bellow reared up from deep inside of him.
“Nothing!” I shouted, my eyes burning with anger. “I want nothing from you. Nothing ever again!”
He reared back just a little as if I’d surprised him.
“Again? Is that what this is about?” he asked. “Us fucking three years ago?”
Fucking. I averted my eyes.
I’d rather shove a drumstick up my nose than let him see how that hurt. I wiped the water off my forehead and smoothed my hair over the top of my head.
“You know what?” He narrowed his eyes, speaking up before I got a chance. “You can go to hell, Fallon. I was sixteen, too. I was a virgin, same as you. You were all over me, too, and you know it. I didn’t force you! You didn’t have to go and complain to our parents. Jesus Christ!”
Huh?
He breathed hard and kept folding his lips between his teeth. “They treated me like I was pressuring you or some shit!” he shouted, throwing his hand out into the air. “You told them that I was forcing you?”

It’s rule breaker Emily Foster’s birthday, and like everyone at The Jungle Room, she just wants to get some action. Unfortunately, she stumbles on the wrong kind, witnessing a mob hit. To protect her, she’s entered into the Witness Protection Program with by-the-book Special Agent Jake Ward as her chaperone.

When the location of their safe house is compromised, Jake stashes Emily deep in the Texas backwoods. The city-girl might be safe from the Mafia, but she has to contend with a psychotic rooster, a narcoleptic dog, crazy cowboys, and the danger of losing her heart to the one man she can’t have.

Jake’s as hot as he is infuriating, and she can’t help but push all his buttons to loosen him up. Their mutual, sizzling sexual attraction poses a dilemma: Jake’s determined to keep her safe and out of the wrong hands; she’s determined to get into the right ones—his.

Review

Let me start off by saying I loved this book! I loved it so much I read it twice and loved it even more the second time! This amazing debut by Alison Bliss is funny, sexy, suspenseful and heartfelt. It really does have it all!

Emily Foster just wanted to get laid on her birthday. Unfortunately, witnessing a mob hit has really stuck a wrench in those plans. Thrust into the Witness Protection Program and the very capable hands of FBI Special Agent Jake Ward might not be so bad, if only she could get him to lighten up a bit!

When their cover is blown Jake has to think fast in order to keep Emily safe and he decides to hide her in his hometown. What could be safer than the backwoods of Texas? Jake really has his work cut out for him when it comes to Emily though, a city girl at heart, can she handle life on a bird farm?

The relationship between these two is hilarious; they go back and forth from wanting to strangle each other to wanting to rip each other’s clothes off!

“I love the sound you make when you’re silent” ~Jake

Aside from Jake and Emily, there is an amazing cast of characters that are written so well they jump right off the pages. I especially enjoyed the bond that is formed between Emily and local Native American Tracker/Diner owner. There is only a hand full of books that have made me laugh out loud and I now count Rules of Protection on that list. Along with the hilarity there were super steamy scenes, nail biting suspense and a few moments where I definitely needed the tissues!

I could really go on and on about this story but I don’t want to give too much away, just go read it and you will understand what I’m talking about. I am impatiently waiting for Alison’s next book!!!
