“Damn you
taste good, cowgirl,” he told her once she’d ridden out the remaining violent
waves of ecstasy. “Here, taste.” Ignoring her wide eyes, he pressed his mouth
to hers and lashed his tongue inside. He knew the sugared honey that was her
arousal flared her desire because she clamped her legs around him and gripped
his biceps hard enough to hurt. The way she dug her fingers in, as if she were
holding onto him for dear life, made him ache to be inside her.
“Made up
your mind yet?”
She
pulled back from their kiss, still panting enough to make his entire life.
“About?”
“Whether
or not you believe the rumors. About me. Be honest.”
An
impish grin lifted her lips. “Well, I can say with absolute certainty that you
are, in fact, a madman.”
“That’s
what they tell me, sweetheart.” He brushed his lips softly against hers to show her that, even
as crazed as he was, madman or not, he could be gentle too—if that’s what she needed.
“Van…I
need you,” she breathed. “Soon.”
The plea
soothed every open wound he’d nursed for as long as he could remember. She
needed him. And unlike the last woman who’d needed him, the one he’d failed
miserably, he would be what Stella Jo Chandler needed. He would keep this one
safe.
“You’ll
have me. Soon. We’ll just have to be careful. I don’t want to cost you your
job, cowgirl.”
She
nodded. His eyes met hers and he saw it. She trusted him completely.
He would
be worthy of that trust. Of her.

I really had no idea what I was getting into when I picked up this book.  I did not look at the synopsis or anything.  I like to go in blind sometimes and just enjoy.  Oh boy, did I ever enjoy.  If you are a Kristen Ashley fan, aka a Rock Chick, you will, no doubt, enjoy this book too.  Just so happens, I have almost read every Kristen Ashley book out there.  I am a hardcore KA fan and now I am also a huge fan of Laurel Ulen Curtis.  This book totally rocked!

Haley and her mommalicious momma, Allison, are tired of boring, cheating, and mediocre men.  They want Kristen Ashley Alpha Males, right from the pages of KA’s books.  They want a Joe Callahan or a Hawk Delgado, really just any KA man will do.

These crazy and hilarious women set out on a road trip they call “The Kristen Ashley Experience” in Haley’s mustang convertible across the US.  What is their goal?  To find a sexy Kristen Ashley alpha male, of course.  They have an A-Z alpha male list of expectations and they are ready for some fun.  Haley meets her alpha man right away, but he isn’t as easy to snag as she would like.  Doesn’t Haley know that KA alpha men sometimes play a little hard to get?

I really, really loved all of the Kristen Ashley jargon and references to her books.  That was big highlight for me, but I also, thought these characters were hilarious, sweet, and super sexy.  Haley and Allison immediately captured my heart with their easy rapport.  This mother and daughter duo loved each other hard and it was evident over and over again.  They accepted each others crazy, enveloped it, and loved, it even.  It just made my heart happy.  Haley’s alpha man, Danny, was just perfect with the right amount of mysterious.  This is a must read for Kristen Ashley fans or just anyone in general if you love a funny, romantic, and sexy book.  I absolutely loved it!

Review

This book started a bit slow for me, and then I realized it was a New Adult and that

explained why they so slowly eased into the relationship. As young, broken people, they

even took a long time to ease into a simple kiss. They both have a past they are less than

proud of or happy with. Cait has no self esteem and was with Dominic for a long time,

and Dominic was a mental abuser. He didn’t love her, he showed no affection and gave

her such doubts about herself. Art’s past is less than wonderful and he is now dealing with

that but even more, he is dealing with how he can tell Cait about his past.

Cait first sees Art in the boxing gym, taking his frustrations out on a punching bag,

and she is caught up in all that is Art. But she never imagined they would be working

together just a week later. He shows interest right away, but she doesn’t see it for what it

is. Interest. Her self esteem is so bad that she cant even see his genuine interest. And he

is so afraid to make a move on her, because she is it for him, he just knows, and he wants

it to be perfect, even their first kiss.

The banter better Cait and Art, is amazing, funny, sweet and real. He falls for her right

away, and she falls for him as well. It does take forever, almost half the book before they

even get to their first kiss, but then in the second half of the books, sparks are flying. The

sex scenes are very well written and hot hot hot. I absolutely adore how they interact. Art’s

brother Aiden is hysterical, and Cait has a good group of friends at her back.

The only real issue for me was that a lot of the banter was with British slang, and I had to

look up the words to know what some meant, being as I am not British.

I can appreciate how the author handled a very sensitive issue in this storyline (not

wanting to give a spoiler so you’ll have to read the book to find out the issue). She did a

fine job with it and didn’t turn it into a three ring circus like I have seen with this in the

past.  I enjoyed this book and would absolutely recommend it.

“I’d follow him into a fiery inferno if he asked me to. Did you see that ass?”

When I went to review this book I had no idea what I was getting myself into! OMG I do not think I can tell you how much I LOVED it! This is definitely in my top 5 releases of 2014 so far!  I thought I was getting a fun baseball themed story but what I really got was a New Adult Alphalicious story of two roommates trying to figure out their attraction and chemistry with an underlying baseball theme.

“You either drop that bat and step away from the bed, or so help me, I will put you over my knee.”

Keegan is having troubles at home and decides it is finally time to move out but when she accepts a place with a male roommate she is not expecting Camden! Oh Camden, I want one of you all for myself! Camden is rude, brass and demanding. He is as sexy as they come and Keegan knows he is out of her league!

There is something about an alpha man that makes panties drop to the floor and Camden does not disappoint. From his domineering personality to his desire to control everything, Camden is HOT! Keegan is convinced that Camden wants nothing to do with her and Camden has some great ways of proving that wrong!

I do not want to give too much away because this is a fabulous book to discover on your own but know that this is so incredibly sexy and fun that I could not put it down (two words and I promise you will come back to talk to me about this; GYM SEX). As soon as I read it I immediately forced everyone I knew to buy it and read it. I am proud to say that they are all Bender fans too and we are all anxiously awaiting the arrival of Slider!

Jesse Vaughn was back.

Was he the one who took me home from the party last night? Why didn’t I remember? How drunk was I?

It had been nine long months since I’d last seen him, or even heard from him for that matter. I turned back to face January and Hap in utter disbelief.

“Yep.” Hap nodded with a confirming smile. January’s expression matched her boyfriend’s. They were excited about the possible reunion of Jesse and me. January knew everything that almost happened, so it went without saying that Hap was clued in. I hated to break it to them, but this wasn’t going to be the happily ever after that they’d hoped for. As much as I wanted to run up, wrap my arms around his neck and tell him how much I’d missed him, I couldn’t fight the dormant anger that I’d let be suppressed by the sadness and guilt. He left me. It was bad enough that Garrett was gone, but that wasn’t his choice. Jesse had left because he wanted to. I brought my hands up and covered my face, hoping he would walk back out the door before I had to face him.

“Hey, Lyss.” The tone of his voice was hesitant, surely he knew I was in shock to see him. “How are you?” It was hard to tell if he meant, “How are you? It’s been nine months since I last saw you.” or “How are you after getting completely shit-faced last night?” Just hearing his deep, raspy voice sent a ripple across my skin. I really thought he was gone.

I looked up to see him standing beside our table. He looked the same. He’d let his hair grow out, just a little bit longer, but it was same jet-black color and messy tousled look I remembered. The glow of his suntanned skin led me to believe that he’d been hiding out somewhere sunny as opposed to what I’d assumed, which was that he must have crawled under a rock and died, or fell off the face of the earth. Why else would he have just completely disappeared from my life? Everything that had happened the night of Garrett’s accident flashed in my mind. I couldn’t even begin to form a complete sentence. Instead, I pushed out of the booth and looked directly in the eyes I’d tried to forget.

“Don’t,” was all I could come up with before I ran out of the diner.

“Alyssa, please.” He followed me out the door. “Can’t we just talk?”

“No!” I yelled out, not breaking my stride as I walked across the street.

His hands stopped mine before I could pull the car door open and escape. The contact of our skin sent a shock up my arm. “Please.” I turned to see the desperation in his eyes. He pulled his lip between his teeth and brushed a stray hair from my cheek. His hand rested on my cheek. I caught myself turning my face into his strong, warm hand and quickly pulled away. As much as I wanted to fight it, everything that I’d felt for him was still there. I still wanted him to touch me. To kiss me. The guilt and anger that accompanied the desire was too much.

“I can’t do this, Jesse.” I pulled my face from his and quickly sunk behind the wheel of my car. I drove away, leaving him alone on the street.

I wasn’t ready to talk to him. To ask him the string of questions that had been running through my head for months. To explain my erratic behavior the night before. I wasn’t ready for any of it. So, I did the only thing I could think of to avoid the entire situation. I went home, opened the desk drawer and retrieved my new foolproof method of not dealing with it.

Review

Jade is a broken young girl, after years dealing with her alcoholic, cruel, mean mother, her just as mean boyfriend and struggling through life in general she no longer has any confidence about herself, in fact she hates herself as well as the life she is living.

Then her childhood valentine moves back into town. Kiernan may have been just a young boy when she last saw him but Jade can’t forget the boy she has been crushing on all these years, especially now he’s not a boy any longer and instead is a sexy, confident young man…who also rides a motorcycle. And Kiernan is determined to bring this shy, broken girl into the light, to get her to start living life rather than just existing in it. But Kiernan has a painful secret himself, one that could destroy Jade once the truth is finally revealed.

“But I decided right then and there that sometimes pretty lies are better  than the truth”

Jade was a wonderful character. She was broken, beaten down, shy and had no confidence in anything especially herself but I loved her. The author has done a brilliant job in creating her in such a way you feel for this young women and you wish she would believe in herself. Sometimes characters with utter lack on confidence annoy me but not Jade, I truly understood why she was the way she was and I connected with her straight away. I was rooting for her the whole way through, praying she became happy and got to lead a better life.

“Life doesn’t last forever Jade. You can’t forget to live it.”

Kiernan was another character I absolutely adored. He was sensitive, sweet, cute, determined and so kind and so brave. He was the perfect boyfriend, what every young women would want and his determination to give Jade a better life, to make her happy for once was just so heart warming. When we learn his secret I was actually devastated and even shed a tear.

“You saw all these broken pieces that reflected back skewed images of myself and you pieced them back together”

I’m not going to say too much about the story itself as I don’t want to give any spoilers. The plot starts off by focusing on Jade and Kiernan’s determination to give her some happiness and belief in herself and then BAM!! We are hit with Kiernan’s secret and I’m being completely honest when I saw I had no idea…from then on it’s pretty rough I’m not going to lie. I cried ugly tears but I also smiled because Kiernan and Jade were so beautiful together, and the story itself was beautiful as well.

“How beautiful you are. How funny and sweet and special you are.”

This story did start off a little slow for me but once it’s gets going and Jade and Kiernan’s relationship begins to grow I started to fall in love with it, and by the end I couldn’t stop the tears and I didn’t want it to end at all.

A beautiful but heartbreaking story, one that really has touched me and I look forward to reading the next book.
