Synopsis

She wanted a one-night stand…and then he moved in next door.

Paige Bennett is more than content with her life and what she does—and does not—have in it. She’s got a supportive family, a great apartment, and the best friend a girl could ask for; so what if her relationships expire faster than a carton of milk? After a disastrous detour courtesy of poor judgment in the boyfriend department, her plan is back on track and her dream job is finally within her grasp. Nothing can make her lose focus now. Well, nothing except the one-night stand she had with her best friend’s surrogate brother. The one-night stand she can’t stop thinking about.

Adam Reid has always been reliable…the responsible son, the loyal friend, the steady boyfriend. Two years ago, he graduated Magna Cum Laude and is well on his way to making a name for himself at an accounting firm in Denver—a far cry from working as a helper in the Mom and Pop store his parents own in Michigan. But when said store starts failing, he’s the only one who can step in and help. So reliable Adam does what he always does, and he comes to the rescue.

Paige thought Adam was a safe bet because he lives halfway across the country. But then suddenly he’s moving back to their town, and then into her apartment building, and soon he’s worming his way right into her life. If she’s not careful, he might sneak his way into her heart, too…

Review

‘It’s like he’s done some kind of crazy voodoo magic on me. He’s dickmatized me. And that’s really goddamn sad, considering I haven’t seen his dick in nearly half a year.’

I can’t believe I waited as long as I have to read this series and now that I have I am hooked. Each book is so fun and unique that I have devoured them all in a week and sad that I don’t have more to read in this series. Paige In Progress is the third book in the Reluctant Hearts series and features a sassy heroine who refuses to settle down and a man who is a serial monogamist. Both are so far outside their comfort zone that the book is full of intense feelings as well as hilarious situations.

“I think we both know I can be less than a perfect gentleman when it’s warranted.”

Adam is perfect boyfriend material, but Paige does not want a boyfriend. So hooking up with him a while back might not have been the best idea. Both are part of the same tight group of friends and this is the type of thing to make group encounters very very awkward. Thank goodness he lives across the country. One problem . . .  he is back for the summer to help save his parents shop and he wants back in Paige’s bed and in her life, even if she is sure that’s not what she is looking for at all.

‘Somehow this girl has completely rewritten every preconceived notion of what I assumed I wanted in a woman. Erased them all and scribbled in every one of her attributes instead.’

Oh Adam, I could easily make this review a long love letter to this insanely sweet and thoughtful man who has the amazing ability to turn into a dirty talking, protective alpha whenever Paige is around. Anyone who has come across Adam before would never have expected the dirty words that escape through his mouth. He was an amazing dirty talker and after finishing the book I am already desperate for more from him. For me while Paige was hysterical she (like Winter in book 1) was hard to love. She was cynical and constantly pushing Adam away but in the end I warmed to her and was rooting for them both to get it all together.

‘The only way this is safe for Paige is the one way it’s not safe for me. Even still, I’m in. In this with her, for as long as I can get her. For as long as she’ll let me be.’

Brighton Walsh has delivered a story full of one liners and dirty sex that also tears at your heart. She covered all the bases for me to thoroughly enjoy a book and I can honestly say I am looking forward to seeing what she will put out next.
