Synopsis

Years before Trip Wiley could be seen on movie screens all over the world, he could be seen sitting in the desk behind me in my high school English class.

This was back in 1990, and I cite the year only to avoid dumbfounding you when references to big hair or stretch pants are mentioned. Although, come to think of it, I am from New Jersey, which may serve as explanation enough. We were teenagers then, way back in a time before anyone could even dream he’d turn into the Hollywood commodity that he is today.

In case you live under a rock and don’t know who Trip Wiley is, just know that these days, he’s the actor found at the top of every casting director’s wish list. He’s incredibly talented and insanely gorgeous, the combination of which has made him very rich, very famous and very desirable.

And not just to casting directors, either.

I can’t confirm any of the gossip from his early years out in Tinseltown, but based on what I knew of his life before he was famous, I can tell you that the idea of Girls-Throwing-Themselves-At-Trip is not a new concept.

I should know. I was one of them.

And my life hasn’t been the same since.

**Remember When is the first book in an NA romantic comedy trilogy, but there is NO CLIFFHANGER. It is intended for mature teen readers and immature adult ones due to some high school sex scenes, underage drinking, questionable language and 1980s flashbacks.**

Audio Review

Remember When is a sweet New Adult Romance based in the 90s about a boy and a girl falling in love in high school. The twist, the boy grows up to be an award winning mega star! Remember When is told from Layla’s point of view as if she is looking back on what is was like with Trip before he was so famous. This story was one of the sweetest stories I have read/heard in a long time and I very much enjoyed it.

I expected this book to make me feel old, as high school books often do, but the way it was written as a grown Layla looking back just made me reminiscent of High School and those innocent times.  I only wish I had a boy like Trip in high school. He was sexy, funny, and oh so sweet. Trip is what every high school boyfriend should be like. Layla was fun, hilarious and just the right mix of awkward and popular at the same time.

I was so surprised by how hilarious this book was. I often found myself laughing out loud at many parts of this book! From the New Jersey 90s setting to the quick wit of the main character and narrator, Layla, the humor in the story is perfect and really helped move the story along and never let it get boring! The hardest part of this story is how much I need to continue after that cliffhanger! lol I will definitely be finding time in the near future for the next installment.

I was lucky enough to be able to enjoy an audio version of the book. I loved the narrator, Allyson Ryan. She was just the right amount of Jersey girl without being kitschy or over doing it. I am a huge fan of audio books but to be fair about half the time the voice actor is just not right and throws me off. Not at all in this story, Allyson was perfect. The pace of the book was good and kept me interested without feeling like it was taking too long. I would definitely recommend the audio version of this book to any New Adult love.  It is the perfect way to entertain yourself while getting other things done too!
