REVIEW:

It is no secret that I am a loud and proud, totally unabashed Lauren Blakely stan. I have loved all of her books, and as far as I’m concerned, she’s a guaranteed good time for me. But this book, well, this book is simply on another level in my humble—but informed—opinion. My favorites from Blakely are her romantic comedies, hands down. But I’m also a big fan of her super spicy, After Dark romances as well. Double Pucked blends the best of both of those styles from Blakely into this steamy and hilarious romantic sports comedy that had me laughing out loud and fanning myself from all the sizzling chemistry between the characters. Blakely’s witty writing style really shines here, and readers should prepare to be thoroughly entertained as she brings them into the world of professional hockey.

I’m going to be honest for a second here, and admit that MFM romances aren’t typically my jam. No shade to them, it’s not a moral stance or anything like that, I just haven’t read one that particularly resonated with me and it’s typically not been my thing. But holy smokes, this story was insanely hot and hilarious and heartfelt and all those good things! It was just so unexpected—in all of the best ways! The plot finds the quick-witted and independent heroine, Trina, leaving her cheating hockey-fan, bad-guy ex-boyfriend with his highly coveted VIP meet & greet hockey tickets. There she meets the charismatic hockey-playing, best-friend-hero-duo of Chase and Ryker. They agree to a quick (and dirty?) fake dating, no-strings fling, and the sexual tension between them is positively palpable! But let me tell you, when this trio collides? My Kindle smoked as the pages sizzled with the explosion of their collective chemistry. This story was so charming and full of sparkling banter, laugh-out-loud moments and heartwarming, tender scenes which made for a wonderful contrast to all of the blistering hotness.

Blakely cleverly blended sports, humor, romance and passion, making Double Pucked a standout not only in this genre but also in her catalog. Expertly balancing those humorous moments with genuine emotion and those spicy scenes, she created a rollercoaster ride that thoroughly entertained me. Witty dialogue, endearing characters and scorching chemistry abound as she skillfully demonstrates her ability to craft a story that is both incredibly sexy and undeniably funny in this must-read for Blakely fans. Amusing, amorous and absolutely addictive, this is Lauren Blakely at her absolute best, displaying all aspects of her craft and creating magic on the page for her readers. I would give it more than 5 smooches if I could, and this marks two back-to-back top favorites of the year for me from her. Five smooches from me for Double Pucked by Lauren Blakely!
