REVIEW:
The Girlfriend Zone by Lauren Blakely was an addictive age-gap, forbidden love story that crackled with tension! This story features Miles, the irresistible NHL player with a heart of gold who falls hard for Leighton, the one that got away and resurfaces as the off-limits coach’s daughter and team photographer. Their chemistry is undeniable and positively electric, sparking with every stolen glance and loaded with witty banter that’s equal parts flirty and fiery. I listened to the audiobook, narrated in duet by Jason Clarke and Samantha Brentmoor. Both of these narrators turned in fabulous performances, and their natural chemistry making for authentic portrayals of these characters.
Blakely masterfully built the steam, weaving a slow-burn romance that’s as emotional as it is scorching. The forbidden stakes—Leighton’s ties to the team, their age difference, and Miles’ respect for her dad and fear of crossing the line—add delicious tension, making every touch and confession feel thrillingly illicit. Yet beneath the passion lies a deep connection as both characters grapple with vulnerability, loyalty, and the risk of losing everything for love. Blakely’s sharp and engaging storytelling balanced humor, heat, and heart in a way that made this story impossible to put down. A perfect blend of sexy, sweet, and emotionally gripping!
