I love a juicy forbidden romance—especially when it’s set in a workplace—and Lauren Blakely kicks off The Virgin Society series with a super steamy one in The RSVP. I listened to the audio version of this full-length contemporary romance, and Joe Arden and Vanessa Edwin delivered a fantastic performance with their dual POV narration. Vanessa Edwin perfectly captured the heroine’s grit, determination, maturity without losing any of her innocence in her portrayal of Harlow Granger. Joe Arden embodied the cautious, career focused but captivated TV producer and business partner of Harlow’s father, Bridger James, well.
A seductively slow-burning romance, The RSVP was heart-palpitatingly passionate. This was a forbidden romance for several scandalous reasons, and Blakely blended those elements in a titillating way to ramp up the tension and heat. If you enjoy a trope-rich tale, Harlow and Bridger’s forbidden love story will be right up your alley with their age gap, a workplace backdrop and the complete wild card that is her father and his business partner. I really enjoyed this story, and I’m looking forward to the next one in the series. Five smooches from me for The RSVP by Lauren Blakely!
