The Rules of Dating My One-Night Stand is the third book in The Law of Opposites Attract series from romance writing duo, Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland. A scorching-hot and emotionally charged contemporary romance, it hits all the right notes for fans of the opposites-attract trope. I’m a huge fan of both authors individually, and I think that Keeland and Ward are perhaps the most prolific pairing of our time in the romantic fiction genre. There is something inherently special about Ward and Keeland’s collaborative writing. The seamlessness of their writing and their effortless way they blend steamy romance with genuine emotion and humor consistently comes together into these wonderfully unputdownable reading experiences for their readers.
Unsurprisingly, Ward and Keeland have, once again, made magic on the pages of The Rules of Dating My One-Night Stand by delivering on the steamy promise of its premise while weaving an addictive tale of love and self-discovery. Built on the opposites-attract dynamic, the evolution of Owen and Devyn’s relationship is both entertaining and heartwarming. The chemistry crackled between them from the moment their eyes met across the bar, leading them to share an unexpected, but undeniably explosive, night together. The problem was that Owen woke up wanting more, but Devyn was gone. Neither expected to see the other again, so it was a surprise when she opened the door to find him standing there just a few days later. Devyn’s personal history has left her a bit commitment-phobic, but Owen is determined to win her over, despite the complications of her life. The twists and turns in their path only made their journey towards love all the more satisfying.
The Rules of Dating My One-Night Stand was an engaging and entertaining love story full of electric energy and heart-string-pulling emotion. Ward and Keeland’s writing was sharp, witty and emotionally evocative, making this an intensely passionate yet playful page-turner. I swooned, I smiled and my heart soared as I devoured this book, and I’m on the edge of my seat in anticipation for whatever is next from this pair.
