SPIN by CD Reiss Review

SPIN

Synopsis

Mafia capo, Antonio Spinelli blew through my orderly life like a cyclone.

Gorgeous and passionate, with a breathtaking brutality, he put me under his spell the moment he touched me, drawing me into his underworld of risk, violence and betrayal.

And I found, just as this sophisticated savage didn’t trust me, I didn’t trust myself. Something happened to me. Some alchemy from the heat between us.

I discovered I was a savage, too.

Review

There are few writers that I drop everything for when something new comes out. CD Reiss is one of those writers. I fell in love with her Songs of Submission series and true to form, I’m falling head over heels in love with her Songs of Corruption series as well.

Spin is just that good.

I often roll my eyes at my husband because whenever The Godfather is on TV, he leaves it on the channel and then scrunches down in his easy chair and gets comfortable to endure the 3.5 hour long snooze fest, I mean movie. It’s a whole routine with us, because it always puts me to sleep and he always goes into his tirade about it being the greatest movie ever made, blah blah, blah. I’ve never admitted to him that I actually LIKE the movie. We are talking The Godfather, Part 1. I just don’t want to watch it every time it happens to be on. In many cases, SPIN reminds me of the Godfather. There are men, Italian men, speaking Italian and kissing cheeks and all that. Men with missing fingers and “made” men. Men who use their fists to solve problems and “take care of business.”

In truth, it is all very hot! I am very much the sucker for the man who will just take care of it. It being the woman’s safety, the damsel who may be in distress, she can certainly take care of her own mess, and yet she turns to the dashing, strong Capo and relinquishes control to him. The woman that finally feels like she is living, breathing, seeing life as it should be, through the eyes of a lover. Theresa Drazen is that woman. She is strong, capable, composed. She is a Drazen, for heaven’s sakes. She is everything and yet nothing without Antonio Spinelli. Once she meets him, that is it. They are both doomed to endure the passion and fire and heat that ignites once they are in each others embrace. Antonio struggles with his inner demons and his outer threats. He knows that getting Theresa involved in his life will be the death of him, or her, or both. But alas, he cannot stay away.

The writing is superb; the sex scenes are scorching; the newest addiction has begun. I am enraptured by Contessa and Capo. You will be too!
