Synopsis

New York Times bestselling author Gena Showalter introduces the Original Heartbreakers, where three not-quite-reformed bad boys are about to meet the women who will bring them to their knees.

Just released from prison, Jase Hollister has only one goal: stay out of trouble. Strawberry Valley, Oklahoma, sounds like the perfect place for him and his two brothers-by-circumstance to settle down and live a nice, simple life. Model citizen isn’t exactly this rugged bachelor’s default setting—especially when it comes to a certain hot-blooded Southern beauty—but he’s determined to play by the rules.

Brook Lynn Dillon has always been the responsible type. Not that it’s done her much good. The down-on-her-luck waitress is broke, single and wouldn’t know fun if it bit her. Or so she thinks. Jase makes bad look oh, so good. Dangerous, sexy and tempting as sin, he is everything she never knew she wanted. Passion sizzles between them, but is it enough to melt his resistance? After all, the right kind of trouble might be just what he needs…

Review

Gosh, I really do love me a Gena Showalter book.  They are hilarious, fun, action packed, and always have a feisty and sassy heroine.  The Closer You Come did not disappoint.  It had everything I love about Gena’s books!

Long after finishing this book I am still laughing about the way that Jase and Brook Lynn met.  Seriously, nothing is better than meeting a hot man after he has sexed up your crazy irresponsible sister and then proceeding to cat fight with her the most childish of ways on his bedroom floor!

“Did you come here hoping to be spanked?”

And that is main reason Brook Lynn tries to keep her distance from Jase.  Her sister has already had Jase and wants him again.  But Brook Lynn cannot seem to stop herself when it comes to this aloof, gruff, and sexy man.

“I can’t believe this!  I’m such a mouth-slut.”

Jase is keeping secrets about his past and Brook Lynn is trying to stop herself from being a mouth-slut.  These two trying to deny their attraction were just too funny; drunkin text, zombies, and all.

“Jase, I need you to stop trying to place the blame on my delicate flower showers and come find me.  This is a 911 sexergency.  You have me more frustrated than a zombie at a salad bar.  Fix it!”

Really, though, the hilarity of the this book was a side dish to the really sweet romance brewing between these two people who so obviously NEED each other.  Brook Lynn and Jase’s story is a gorgeous, flirty, fun, and action packed romance that I could not put down.  This is a 4.5 stars for me only because I may love Gena’s paranormal books just a smidgen more but I do have to say this book really sets up future books in this series marvelously and I am dying for the next one.  I have feeling these books are just going to get better and better!
