Synopsis

Stephanie Bradford is a young, attractive, and successful District Attorney on her way to the top. She has the near-perfect life, with an amazing husband, and she has it all in the palm of her hand. When her marriage falls into a romantic rut, Stephanie is skillfully swooned by a charming, mysterious and intriguing stranger who looks to be the answer to all of her fantasies. A whirlwind and erotic affair quickly spirals out of control, and before long, she learns that things aren’t always as they appear and people are rarely who they seem. One poor decision becomes the catalyst for a series of events that rips her life apart, and Stephanie is left with nothing but the thirst for revenge against the man who viciously stole everything from her. The Suicide Princess is a sexually charged roller coaster ride where nothing is as it seems and everything is at stake!

Review

This story follows Stephanie and her life. Stephanie is stuck in a rut in her marriage to Jacob, she feels that she tries to do things with him but she gets no reciprocation. Jacob is a pilot, so he often travels for work and when he is at home he doesn’t seem to pay Stephanie all that much attention.

Enter Derrick, Stephanie meets him in a pizzeria queue. Derrick starts talking to her and eventually gets her phone number from her phone, this is what slowly starts Stephanie’s downfall. Derrick appears as a cocky playboy who knows what it is that he wants, and he will stop at nothing to get it.

“What if I don’t want to keep it clean? What if all I want to talk about is you and your naughty little office girl clothes.” Derrick comes across as very dominant and in control, but he is hiding something.

Stephanie decides to confide in her co-worker and friend Karen about the texts and Derrick. Karen doesn’t want to be involved and tries to tell Stephanie that she needs to steer clear of this and just live her life with Jacob. “Look, I don’t want to know any more about it because things like this always end badly. You didn’t go too far, so just stop now, and don’t go any further.”

We follow Stephanie as she gets closer with Derrick and starts to pull away from everything else, her work is starting to suffer as she is late or forgetting major things that needed to be done, she doesn’t seem to see anything other than what is happening with her and Derrick. Stephanie gets lazy in her attempts to hide things, she stays out at night when she should be home with Jacob.

Jacob starts to suspect Stephanie is cheating on her and confides in a friend who tell him that he needs to have proof before he confronts her, so he decides that he is going to follow her when he has told her he will be out of town working. I don’t think Jacob was at all prepared for what he would find out about his wife, at times you feel sorry for him. Even though it appears in Stephanie’s eyes that he doesn’t care, you can tell that he does and didn’t even realise that she wasn’t happy in their relationship.

A night out with Derrick goes wrong for Stephanie and she ends up losing everything that she worked so hard for. The secret Derrick was hiding comes out the day after Stephanie’s world comes crashing down. You find out that he really wasn’t the person that he pretended to be and in fact deserved all that he ended up getting. Stephanie’s life is in ruins and all she wants now is revenge. She wants Derrick to suffer and pay for everything that she believes is his fault.

I am glad the ending happened the way it did, although I really didn’t see it coming. There was many twists in this story that I didn’t see coming, but they really added something different to the story. I was expecting this book to be a typical female wants something different in her life, leaves her husband and then moves on with the new guy. I can say I am happily pleased that this wasn’t that case for this book, this was something different than what I thought it would be. But I would completely recommend this book, especially if you aren’t looking for a lovey dovey romance. Well done Anthony Bryan on a gripping read.
