Synopsis

Early in her life, Josephine Malone learned the hard way that there was only one person she could love and trust: her grandmother, Lydia Malone. Out of necessity, unconsciously and very successfully, Josephine donned a disguise to keep all others at bay. She led a globetrotting lifestyle on the fringes of the fashion and music elite, but she kept herself distant.

While Josephine was trotting the globe, retired boxer Jake Spear was living in the same small town as Lydia. There was nothing disguised about Jake. Including the fact he made a habit of making very bad decisions about who to give his love.

But for Josephine and Jake, there was one person who adored them. One person who knew how to lead them to happiness. And one person who was intent on doing it.

Even if she had to do it as her final wish on this earth.

Review

I have read almost every Kristen Ashley book out there.  I found her books on Goodreads and I spent nearly two months immersed in KA’s alpha world, literally devouring every book the woman had ever written.  I have simply fallen in love with her books.  They are something quite special.  If you have not ever read KA, you my friend, are missing out.  Your are missing out on the pure alpha-maleness of her men, the tears followed by the laughter, the love and heartache and the sigh at the end of the book.  You know. The feeling of complete satisfaction of a good cry, a quiet chuckle, and then a magnificent happily ever after.  KA just has the ability to reach in your chest, grab your heart and hug it the entire book.  The Will is no different.  It did all these things.  It took me back to my very first KA book; Three Wishes.  My very favorite of hers.

The Will is Jake and Josie’s story and it truly was just freakin fabulous watching it unravel.  The book starts at Josie’s beloved grandmother’s funeral.  Let me tell you now, only Kristen Ashley could evoke enough emotion from me to have me tear up on literally the second page.  Josie is standing there at grandmothers funeral and  hiding her tears behind her designer sunglasses  looks up and sees Jake.  Something epic happens then, you can just feel it.

“This was because in all my life, and I’d had a long one, and in all my wandering, and I’d wandered far, I’d never seen a man like him.”

When Josie looks over to Jake and his family and pictures what his wife  would be like, how she would dress, and act, and how this woman would do everything in her power to keep him, it literally broke my heart.  Josie’s past is so tragic and she is so emotionally damaged that she has built huge mountainous walls to protect herself from being hurt ever again.  Josie doesn’t know it at this point in time, but Jake is coming for her and he is taking no prisoners.

I laughed and I cried through the entirety of this book.  It was so emotional and touching, and just like every other KA book, I could not put it down.   The ending, well, it was perfect.  It had me crying big fat ugly tears of happiness.  Josie and Jake’s story is beautiful and truly epic in true Kristen Ashley fashion.  Seriously, though, if you have never picked up a Kristen Ashley book, you must.  I promise you will not regret it.

Rock On,

Amie
