Synopsis

Have you ever felt like you were living your life for a future that was predetermined? Like there was some bigger picture you just prayed you would someday see clearly? That picture has been crystal clear to me since I was old enough to recognize it for just what it was.

Or I should say recognize him for who he was.

I’ve loved Cohen Cage since I was a small child. He’s been my everything for the last twenty-two years. I’ve loved him through every girlfriend he’s ever brought home. Through his college years and then mine. I’ve loved him through two deployments. And ever since the day I told him how I felt, he’s acted like I’m a stranger.

My name is Danielle Reid, and it’s time for me to get my man.

Our future is an unexpected fate, and no matter what our parents, siblings, and friends say…it’s going to be worth every second of the fight to make it happen

Review

“That was the night I confirmed what I had always known. What I had always felt. Cohen Cage owned my heart and I never wanted it back.”

To say I have been excited for this book would be a HUGE understatement. Just like every other Harper book to come out since we started this blog a year ago I completely stole this book from under my co-blogger nose and don’t even feel bad about it.

“I’m going to miss you, Cohen. I know you don’t look at me like I look at you, but one day, you’re going to come back and I’d still be waiting for you. Waiting for you to see me like I see you. Mark my words, Cohen Cage. One of these days, you’re going to be mine. And until you’re ready . . .I’ll be here. I’ll be waiting.”

Dani has loved Cohen Cage for as long as she can remember (haven’t we all) and no other guy can compare. But Cohen is older and a man so he needs years to come to terms with what Dani is for him and when that day finally comes WHOO I mean DAMN, no words. Cohen and Dani’s story is a bit sad for me, she has sat back and watched the boy she loves grow up to be a completely sexy man who is sowing his wild oats. I cannot imagine how hard that would be and pair that with an extremely overprotective father and while she is grown Dani is still very innocent and young.

“That boy doesn’t even know how to talk, Izzy. I bet he will be nothing but handsy and think withy his little pecker. Nope. No way. Not near my baby girl.”

Speaking of her ridiculously overprotective father, Axel was a highlight of the book for me. If you would have told me that Axel would be the comedic relief in the book I would have rolled my eyes and said yeah yeah. This man was HILARIOUS. Somehow his meddling and dictating was endearing and loveable.

“Just like an angel, my Dani-girl.”

There are way too many spoilers possible for me to delve deep into the relationship between Dani and Cohen but I need to say that I loved them. I loved that they have had a connection since they were kids but due to their age gap that had to be ignored. I loved that Dani thought she was being slick with her crush all those years even though everyone really kinda knew. But mostly I loved that once he came around to what his feelings were for Dani he was not ever going to let her go. Unexpected Fate was a bit of New Adult Alpha deliciousness that I just need more of!

“But I promise you this: every little thought that you had that causes you to moan my name while scissoring those perfect legs back and forth, praying for competition – it would be so much hotter than you could ever imagine.”

OK, so here is what you need to know about grown up Cohen, COHEN CAGE GIVES GOOD DIRTY TALK! I mean basically he outshined Greg Cage in the dirty talking category and that is a HUGE (wink wink) accomplishment! Let’s just say he never outgrew talking about his penis!

“Not yet, I’m gonna fuck these tits first. Yeah, I’m going to fuck these tits.”

Yeah like I said COHEN CAGE GIVES GOOD DIRTY TALK!

“I’ve loved you for a lifetime, Cohen.”
