Synopsis

Cam and Cara’s story.

Used.

That was the only word Cam Greer, the son of a wealthy media mogul, had ever associated with women. When he met Amber Murphy his senior year in high school, he felt like, for once, this girl loved him for him. When she pursued her dreams and left Cam behind, Amber not only crushed Cam’s heart, she destroyed his future as well. He was left to start his life over, thinking the only woman that would ever truly love him was gone.

Cara Pratt has finally got her life on track. Ten years after watching her father literally walk out of her life, Cara has finally found happiness with a new stepfather and her high school boyfriend, Lance. Everything is going according to her plan, until a pregnancy test comes back positive. Once again, she finds herself watching the man she loves walk out of her life, taking her future along with him.

When Cam and Cara spot each other across the bar at Maggie’s Place four years later, neither of them are interested in starting a relationship. They’re both a little unsure and completely untrusting. They try to fight the intense immediate attraction, realizing right off, the seriousness of their chemistry, but as hard as they try, they can’t.

As fate pulls them together, will their mistrust push them apart? As the smoldering embers from their pasts come blazing to the surface, fears are uncovered that neither of them are ready to face.

Review

Im going to start this by saying I loved Cam and Cara in Promise Me Always and I’m so pleased that their story gets told. I wanted to know what happened to them and what went wrong.

Always Yours starts with a look into Cara’s past, we find out that her dad is the person that makes her closed off to men, she was abandoned by him when she was a little girl. Reading about that day in her life is sad, especially as all she wants is her daddy. We skip forward to when the next man in her life abandoned her and caused her more damage.

Cam has a harsh few on women, he feels like that will all use him because of his connections. Cam’s dad is someone important that can help people reach their dreams, unfortunately girls in Cams past are willing to step on him to get a chance at their dreams. Cam also has feelings that he can’t seem to overcome when it comes to an ex of his Amber. “It had been over four years since we had been together and I still wasn’t over her, and if I was being honest, I didn’t think I ever would be.”

Cara and Cam meet when Cam goes to the bar that Cara runs. What starts at staring, then talking, then dancing. Turns into pain as he leaves her alone, turning his back on her on the way out of the bar. Cam couldn’t spend time with her without thinking about Amber. Wanting forgiveness Cam goes back to see Cara and things soon become more then friends, but not quite relationship status.

Feelings between these two blossom, but both are unwilling to admit it. Cara because she can’t face being hurt by another man in her life and Cam can’t decide what he feels for her, he can’t seem to forget Amber and Cara isn’t going to want to play second best forever. Things seem to go well for these two, they have fun together, they are happy and they may be on the verge of a relationship conversation, until a run in with the past turns it all upside down for them both.

Ambers back and Cara pulls the relationship cord after being ignored by Cam, she wants out before she gets hurt anymore. But is it really want she wants? Cam doesn’t realise what he lost until she’s not there, but is he willing to fight for it? Or will old habits and people win out?

There is a few heart breaking scenes in this book, a few twists, things that make you want to slap Amber, hug Cara, shout at Cam and want soooo much for Cara and Cam to get a HEA. They deserve one with all they have been through and are still going through.

Well done Kari March on another fantastic read.
