Synopsis

Josh North is UFC’s Light Heavyweight Champion—but he’s about to meet his match.

Sophie Garner is a single mom who’s been raising her daughter on her own, fighting for both of their lives ever since going into hiding to escape her abusive husband.

When Sophie gets offered the job of a lifetime as the exclusive massage therapist for Josh “The Jackhammer” North’s team, it’s difficult to say no to the outrageous salary—and the bet—that Josh proposes. But for Sophie it’s a risk that could cost a lot more than just her heart – if she’s found, it could cost her her life.

Should she dare?

Josh wants to break through Sophie’s fortified walls, but is unwilling to put the jackhammer to his own and reveal his secrets and the side of him few have ever known or seen. To do that, he’ll have to confront the darkness of his past.

Will he dare?

Review

I wasn’t supposed to read this book. Originally, I had this book for a reviewer on my blog to read but when she quit with only a week till the date the review was due I did not have time to reassign it out which left me with just two options. I could pull out of the review for the tour or I could read it myself. I was weighing towards pulling out because with a new baby at home and a very long list of book I needed to read myself. But something told me to give this book a shot. Maybe it was the hot cover or the fact that I have a weakness for an alpha fighter. Whatever it was I am so glad I decided to give this book and author a shot.

“If I make the first move, I’ll make it an even one hundred thousand. However, if you make the first move, you’ll owe me a night of unbridled passion.”

While this is a spin off series, this is my first book by Allie Juliette Mousseau and it read very clear as a standalone. Dare is the story of Sophie, a single mom with a past (a past that is determined to hunt her down) and Josh, a firefighter who was injured and in her care as a massage therapist at the hospital she works. When Sophie meets Josh he was injured after saving a child from a fire and although he can’t clearly see her at first he is still drawn to her and flirts shamelessly.

“The word infatuation doesn’t do justice or explain what I feel for Sophie, because although it is intense, it’s absolutely not short-lives. Nope, this doesn’t feel like infatuation, it feels like hysteria,”

Sophie soon finds out that Josh is not just a hero firefighter but a acclaimed fighter and he wants her on her team. He offers her everything she could want to be able to provide for the daughter she would give anything for. When she hesitates because of the sexual tension between them Josh comes up with the dare to keep them on the straight and narrow. Soon Sophie and Josh are spending a lot of time together at work and while traveling and their feelings for each other only seem to grow stronger.

“I’m going to savor you, You know every ridge and contour of my body . . .it’s my turn to learn yours. And as I do, Sophie, I’m going to claim you, every part of you, as mine.”

When these two give in to what it is clear from the beginning that their bodies want it is explosive! I love them as a couple so much. While Josh is a fighter with a playboy reputation he is so sweet and kind with Sophie and her daughter. He is protective and loving and goes out of his way to keep her happy and safe. Unfortunately, her past has other ideas.

“There’s nothing you can do,” “Wrong, there’s nothing I won’t do!”

I am so glad that I decided to take on this hot and fun book. Allie wrote a alpha fighter that I just could not put down and I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us next!
