Synopsis

It all started with a song.

Roxana Nights was late to another gig, thanks to her first love, and drummer. It’s been years since she left Jordan, but he won’t let her go. Then she hears a voice that pulls her under a spell and changes her whole world.

Trevor Malone just moved to Seattle with his band. Music is his only passion, until he lays eyes on Roxana. He’s never felt anything as strong as the pull to her. Now he needs to find a way to introduce her to his world.

There’s only one problem. A rival clan won’t rest until they’ve taken Trevor’s down. Unwilling to let old grudges die, they target Roxy. Trevor will do anything to keep her safe.

Roxy learns that the world she writes is closer to reality than she ever imagined, and that not all monsters are evil, though some are ruthless.

Will love stay strong when the past comes out? Can they survive the centuries old vendetta?

Review

Thanks to Brandy L. Rivers I can no longer claim that I do not read/love paranormal. Nights Embrace is my third book by her that I have read and thoroughly enjoyed. So it is official, I am now a Paranormal reader (shh don’t tell my co-blogger Amie she has been trying to get me to read para forever lol)

Night’s Embrace tells the story of Roxy, a sexy singer by night and down to earth romance author by day. Roxy meets Trevor at a club and is instantly drawn to him after hearing him sing and then he to her when she took the stage. They waste no time embedding each other into their lives and quickly are inseparable. But what seems all kinds of happy and exciting for them is quickly put at risk when demons from the past are determined to cause trouble.

Let’s start with sweet, sexy and Irish Trevor. For an alpha male, Trevor, is so considerate and thoughtful. He was refreshing in the fact that he was never demanding and controlling but still when it came to Roxanna’s safety he was very take charge and confident. Trevor is a wolf but with his Irish lineage we find that instead of a pack like we (or at least this para newbie) are used to, his group is referred to as a clan. In my opinion the clan in the supernatural world is to me a more modern and free thinking way of living for these wolves. While there is no “alpha” they all seem to work well as a unit and fall into line with each other. While very different they still respect the pack structure and when they interact with the Edenton pack (oh yes you get to see them too yippee) the clan addresses and respects Slater as the alpha. Trevor is an Irish heart throb and  I adored him and the way he adored Roxy.

Roxanna Nights has the ability to completely enthrall those around her, whether it is with her stunning singing or the hypnotizing words of her books. But the spell she puts on Trevor is completely new to her. Fresh out of a bad relationship that follows her everywhere she goes the last thing she wants is to jump feet first into another serious relationship. But when Trevor shows up the day after she saw him preform she can’t seem to walk away. She is drawn to him and knows in her heart is more than just his smoking hot bod!

I was lucky enough to listen to this book on audio and WOW I can say I would probably listen to anything with John Lane’s voice now! Especially when he does Trevor’s fabulous Irish accent. The book is completely narrated by him and I personally thought it was very well done. I know a lot of books are done with wither both a female and a male or just the female but hearing the entire story in a sexy man voice kept me paying attention and eager for more.

There are many things Brandy does amazingly well in her books, building amazing and chaotic worlds, intertwining story lines, sexy alpha males, but the part of her books that really makes her shine is in her incredibly strong and powerful women. Even in their weakest moments they stand up for themselves and fight to the bitter end. They would never just sit back and let someone else fight their battles and more often than not they are leading the mob going into war. I can tell in each book I read that Brandy is pouring herself into these women and it is for this reason I will always eagerly read more from her.
