Synopsis

It seemed like a good idea at the time. Look up Landon Roderick, that boy from childhood whom I’d never been able to forget—even though he so easily forgot about me—and call him.

Then again, anything sounds like a good idea when you’ve had a little too much wine before bed, right? It was supposed to be just a quick, meaningless, prank call. Instead, I went off on him—unloading thirteen years of pent-up emotions.

I didn’t think he’d call me back.

I certainly could never have anticipated the weeks of sexually tense phone conversations that followed as I got to know the man he’d become.

Turned out, Landon had never really forgotten me, either. That special connection we had was still there. I opened up to him, but there were also things about me he didn’t know. And he had his own secrets.

Over the countless hours we talked on the phone, I wondered what would happen if we actually saw each other. One night, I did something impulsive again. Only this time, I went to the airport and booked a ticket to California. We were about to find out if one phone call could bring two lost souls together or if my drunk dial really was all just a big mistake.

A complete STANDALONE.

Review

Drunk Dial is Penelope Ward’s newest saga and I found it to be sweet, surprising and a fresh twist on an age old concept.  I have been a fan of Penelope’s stories since she first released Gemini and she has never failed to surprise me. Her stories are always completely unique and have me on the edge of my seat.

This was a second chance romance with a twist. Rana drunk dials her old middle school crush one night only to have him pursue her in return. I really liked Rana  and loved the surprises with her Penelope gave us. I will say that Landon was not my personal favorite of Penelope’s men. I’m not saying he’s awful, quite the opposite, he had many a swoon worthy moment and tons of hot ones too. But mixed in-between were instances that had me unable to completely fall for him.

All in all, I still would recommend this book, Penelope’s stories are unlike any other and because of that I will always jump at the chance to read anything she writes.

SYNOPSIS:

“I’m face-down in forty glorious inches of cock cake, seriously reassessing my life choices, when suddenly I hear it. The voice that launched a thousand teenage boy-band dreams. My #1 crush, Drew Delaney himself.”

Ten years ago, Drew was boy-band royalty: the subject of a million teenage fantasies – and the guy next door. He was so far out of my league, I couldn’t see him for stars, but now I’m back in town for our high-school reunion, guess who I run into but Mr. Right-Now himself…

Older. Hotter. And still sexy enough to make me forget about the glittery white frosting currently smeared across my chest.

Sparks are flying, and so are my panties, and soon, our trip down memory lane has taken a detour to ‘oh my god, don’t stop!’. Population: me.

But can I turn Mr. Right-Now into Mr. Forever? Or will crazed fans, vicious yoga moms, and three dozen cock-sicles (don’t ask) doom our romance to the ‘Where are they now?’ section of MTV’s greatest hits?

You’ll be begging for a taste of Lila Monroe’s new sexy, laugh-out-loud summer romance!

REVIEW:

My second time reading Lila Monroe, and I really enjoyed Mr. Right Now. A quick and sexy read, if I’d had the time without interruptions, I could have easily read it in a single sitting. This book was low on drama and angst, and it was a light-hearted, entertaining and easy-to-read story. This is the kind of book I refer to as a hangover cure – the perfect story to cleanse a reader’s palate, so to speak, after finishing something heavy or emotional.

Imagine your best friend’s big brother becomes the front man of a top boy band. Along with every other girl in the country, you are crushing on him hard. Unfortunately for Maggie, her best friend, McKenna, was none too thrilled about this crush, and they drifted apart. Twelve years later, Maggie finds herself back home in Philly, living at her parents’ house as she tries to regroup after her dream of her own bakery in New York crashes and burns in humiliating fashion. An embarrassing miscommunication with her first catering event back home lands Maggie in a frosting-covered mess of forty-inch phallic-shaped cake at the feet of her childhood crush, Drew. Their attraction was swift and as sweet as the sexy cakes she’s known for, and they positively sizzled together.

No longer the infamous boy-band front man, Drew is also back home. He’s a producer now, and he’s happy being the guy behind the scenes, or at least he would be if one of his former bandmates would stop dragging him into his cheesy, fame-grabbing attempts to regain their former glory. Drew is immediately smitten with the grown-up version of his sister’s high-school bestie. He pursues her relentlessly, but in addition to figuring out her future, Maggie needs to decide if Drew is a dream-come-true or just a Mr. Right Now.

Mr. Right Now was a lot of fun, filled with the kind of humor that kept a smile on my face. It was pretty steamy, and the romance was sweet as Drew went all out to convince Maggie he was more than his pop-star persona. All in all, I enjoyed this book—it was cute, charming and funny, and I would definitely read this author again. Lila Monroe’s Mr. Right Now gets four smooches from me!

REVIEW

Ben and Harper have been best friends since they were little and have been through everything together. But when the world changes after the 9/11 attacks, their plans of going off to university together suddenly falls apart as Ben decides to go into the marines. Despite the distance and times of not talking, they remain strong and their feelings of friendship start to grow into feelings of romance. But boyfriends, girlfriends, timings, pregnancy and heartache keep them apart. Will these two ever have their moment to become more than just friends or will their lives and the obstacles thrown at them keep them apart and maybe even ruin their lifelong friendship?

“I’ll never give up hope. I can’t. Not after everything we’ve been through. As I fall asleep I’m left with only one thought: Love sews souls together. Life picks at the stiches.”

This was an extraordinary story of the strongest friendship turning into the most beautiful romance. Two people who are so obviously meant to be together but can never quite come together as life and obstacles keep them apart and throw even more distance between them. Ben and Harper’s story will pull at your heartstrings and make you believe in true love again.

“You’re it for me, Harper. The one. The dream girl. The woman I’d break every rule to be with.”

Ben and Harper were both extremely loveable characters and their relationship from the beginning was just so beautiful to read. Ben was a geek turned hot marine but despite growing muscles and becoming a brave and admired marine, his personality never changes and his feelings for Harper remain as strong as ever. I admired that he always kept true to himself and the way he felt for Harper and wanted to protect and look after her was quite literally sigh worthy and had me wishing I had a Ben of my own. Harper had also been a bit of an odd ball when she was younger but that didn’t stop her turning into a beautiful, kind and loving young women. The way she always looked out for others feeling before her own, no matter if it broke her heart, was so admirable and I desperately wished she would get her HEA that she so truly deserved.

“So, here I stand, wearing a rose-colored midi length dress that’s actually cute, carrying a swath of flowers, watching Ben, my best friend since age three, marry her. He smiles at me and I see everything behind it. I know him like the back of my hand, like a conjoined twin, like the only man I’ve ever loved.”

This was just a beautiful friend to lovers romance with quite a bit of heartbreak, frustration and drama thrown in. There was definitely some surprises that caught me off guard and I honestly wasn’t sure if Ben and Harper becoming more than friends was in the cards for them, especially when more and more obstacles were thrown into their path. I laughed, cried, wanted to throw my kindle down in anger and ultimately fell in love with the characters and their story. A beautiful love story for two beautiful characters!

REVIEW

I once went to a signing and met Karina Halle.  I stood in her line with all of her travel romances gripped tight in my hands, so excited to get them signed.  Beyond thrilled to ask her when she would release her next one.  She was sweet, signed my books and politely informed me there would be no more travel romances.  That her publisher canceled the series.  I almost cried but crying in front of Karina Halle about her books would have been weird and I’m already weird enough.  So the publisher may have put the kibosh on her travel romances but I forget that every time I read one of her books I’m traveling.  While the characters may not be traveling to great places, I am.  Because this author always manages to describes places so vividly and beautifully and this book was no exception.

I love cowboys.  I love second-chance romance.  I love a homecoming so this book really was a hit for me.  It packed at an emotional punch with a really sad backstory and childhood love.  This really was an epic love story that spanned a lifetime and my God it set up the rest of this series beautifully.  I am dying for Maverick and Fox’s story and the rest of this series.

Synopsis

Charlotte has spent her twenties adrift, floating from interest to interest, job to job, and guy to guy, searching for a spark but never quite finding it. All she knows is that she won’t discover it working as a waitress at a pies-and-fries joint in Los Angeles or living with her fun but aimless best friend in a tiny apartment in the Arts District.

Then Charlotte collides with Adam, a gorgeous and soulful painter who seems just as lost as she feels. Their instant connection turns into a midnight drink… and a whirlwind night of champagne, Chinese food, and the kind of conversation that only happens in romantic comedies. But the next morning, Adam gives Charlotte the cold shoulder, leaving her confused and hurt—and wondering if the few odd moments between them the night before were red flags in disguise.

Months later, Charlotte hasn’t been able to shake Adam, so she decides to find out what happened the morning after their magical night together. This fateful decision rewrites their wild love story, but what Charlotte doesn’t know yet is that the ending has already been written.

Review

WOW! Now that was an emotional rollercoaster ride. I had so many strong feelings when reading this book that it is impossible to deny what an amazing writer Renee Carlino is. My emotions were all over the place when reading. At times I was in love with these flawed characters and at times I wanted to smack some sense into them But the moral is I was constantly feeling something. A sign of a great book.

I can’t go into great plot detail because . . .  spoilers, but this book hurt in that way that makes you feel alive. I wasn’t always happy with where it went and I was often quite mad at the protagonist, Charlotte, and her self-centered ways but ultimately I wanted to see where she would end up. For me while there is a heavy romance aspect, that did get sexy at times, this almost read like women’s fiction. While the romance was a driving force in the plot, the real story was Charlotte’s self discovery and her finally learning to let go and love herself and love life.

Wish You Were Here is a powerful story but be prepared . . .  tissues are a necessity and try not to question to much, just go along for the ride.

Synopsis

Weddings are big business in picturesque Sweetheart, California, and Something Borrowed’s rent-a-bridesmaid service is thriving among the Hollywood elite. For the women who work there, a walk down the aisle is just a paycheck—until the right guy makes it priceless . . .

RULE #1: GROOMSMEN ARE STRICTLY OFF LIMITS

Marley Stevenson never imagined her stint as a rented Maid of Honor would practically become a career. Then again, nothing in her life has gone according to plan. At least the money’s good—and she needs it to pay off student loans and help out her mom. But the job has rules, which have never been an issue . . . until one encounter with a gorgeous best man—and his swoon-worthy Southern accent—sends Marley reeling.

Determined to get through the weekend with her professional reputation intact, Marley grits her teeth and sends out her best “unavailable” vibes, but Luke Jessup doesn’t give up that easy. A former Marine and a current SWAT team officer, his focus is legendary—and it’s on Marley. Jeopardizing her job is bad enough, and starting a relationship based on half-truths is worse—yet Marley is beginning to wonder if certain risks are worth taking, especially in the name of true love . . .

Review

I really enjoy Codi Gary’s small town stories and this one had a fun bridesmaid for hire twist added to it. Don’t Call Me Sweetheart is so unique and fun I read straight through in one day!

“Check out my ass again, and you’re going to find your balls in your throat.”  “I love it when you talk dirty to me.”

Marley and Luke are put in impossible situation, she can’t let him know she was hired as the made of honor in the wedding he is the best man in and if she acts on their chemistry she is in breech of contract and can lose out on all the money she is counting on to give her a new start in life. She knows she should stay away but the pull she feels with him makes that almost impossible. I really enjoyed their rendezvous and I honestly truly loved me some Luke Jessup He was dream worthy.

This was a fun idea and Codi Gary did it justice. Don’t Call Me Sweetheart is full of fun antics, addictive side characters, tons of steam and an overall enjoyable plot. Well written and thought out you won’t regret this!

“Meader’s strength is creating characters who live, breathe, and jump off the page; Remy and Harper shine, and the supporting cast of characters, including Harper’s half-sisters, is very strong. The mix of sexual tension and emotional decisions will lead Meader’s series launch to many a keeper shelf.”

Publishers Weekly STARRED REVIEW

“Meader takes her readers on a breathtaking, non-stop, glorious ride. The sex scenes are lyrically written with fresh, descriptive prose. Enough is included about hockey to add its fast rhythm to the book. Remy’s family is multi-faceted and fills the pages with joy. Readers will love the relationship between Remy and Harper, and will be excited for the next story — Isobel’s.”

RT Book Reviews Four and  a Half Star TOP PICK

IRRESISTIBLE YOU kicks of the all new, scorching Chicago Rebels hockey series by Kate Meader, featuring her signature “steamy sex scenes, colorful characters, and riveting dialogue” (Romantic Times). Three estranged sisters inherit their late father’s failing hockey franchise and are forced to confront a man’s world, their family’s demons, and the battle-hardened ice warriors skating into their hearts.

Harper Chase has just become the most powerful woman in the NHL after the death of her father Clifford Chase, maverick owner of the Chicago Rebels. But the team is a hot mess—underfunded, overweight, and close to tapping out of the league. Hell-bent on turning the luckless franchise around, Harper won’t let anything stand in her way. Not her gender, not her sisters, and especially not a veteran player with an attitude problem and a smoldering gaze designed to melt her ice-compacted defenses.
Veteran center Remy “Jinx” DuPre is on the downside of a career that’s seen him win big sponsorships, fans’ hearts, and more than a few notches on his stick. Only one goal has eluded him: the Stanley Cup. Sure, he’s been labeled as the unluckiest guy in the league, but with his recent streak of good play, he knows this is his year. So why the hell is he being shunted off to a failing hockey franchise run by a ball-buster in heels? And is she seriously expecting him to lead her band of misfit losers to a coveted spot in the playoffs?
He’d have a better chance of leading Harper on a merry skate to his bed…

Two things happened simultaneously: Harper’s eyes went wide, and Remy realized he was cold. Both of these things were related.

He’d answered the door completely naked.

And his boner was back, urgent as ever, though he wondered how long that would last because it was pretty fucking chilly out here.

“I’ve interrupted something,” she said, her gaze greedily roving his still-damp body.

“Only a pity party in my shower.”

She swallowed audibly, and just that sliver of vulnerability had him ready to fall to his knees for her. She was here, yet he had the distinct feeling that rushing her would be bad. This woman was like a high-strung filly that needed gentling and every ounce of TLC he possessed.

“Minou, talk to me.”

A shallow breath was followed by . . . another shallow breath. Before he could worry about which would happen first—Harper’s panic attack or his dick dropping off like an icicle—she spoke, her voice scarcely above a whisper.

“I shouldn’t be kissing you. I shouldn’t be touching and licking and stroking your hard body. I shouldn’t be begging you to take me all night long. I shouldn’t be fantasizing about the player I signed to save my team and career because this could be the very thing that tanks my team and career.”

His sexy little minou was hurting, and the only cure was the thing that might destroy them both.

Review

Kate Meader never fails to deliver for me. I love a hockey book and to be honest I was worried that I wouldn’t love it as much as I love her firefighter book because I have read a TON of hockey books. I should feel silly to have ever even had such a thought. Irresistible You was amazing. Harper and Remy were more than I could have imagined.

Remy was to die for, with his bulking frame, tough demeanor and penchant for breaking out his French at just the right moment, the Cajun hockey player hit all my buttons just right. For her part Harper was equally tough but soft when needed. Being boss and employee put them in a tough spot and watching them tread the waters of a fling when both knew it was a bad choice was hot and intense.

If you a hockey fan than this is a book you don’t want to miss. These two have an undeniable chemistry and the circumstances forcing them to keep secret only made everything more exciting. I am a long time Kate Meader fan and this is just one more in a string of amazing books from her. Grab it today!
