Teach Me Something by Aubrey Bondurant Review
4.5 Smooches!
Synopsis
Life is short, and sometimes you have to take chances…
Catherine Davenport is successful in her career, but doesn’t have the same skill when it comes to her love life. After a painful divorce, she’s finding the new world of dating both intimidating and frustrating.
Tired of striking out, she takes the extreme measure of enlisting the help of an instructor in a private club who offers sessions on how to improve her dating strategy as well as her overall sexual confidence.
‘Calvin’, the masked man with the piercing blue eyes and husky voice not only challenges her to step out of her comfort zone, but encourages her to unlock her repressed adventurous side with various lessons.
She feels like she’s making progress until her worlds collide and the identity of the man privy to her most intimate details is shockingly revealed as someone she knows.
Can Catherine put her insecurities aside to take a chance on love where she least expected it? Or will her past interfere with her ability to plan a future with the one man who truly knows the real her.
Full Length Standalone book with no cliffhanger. Fourth book of the “Something Series”
Recommended for mature readers due to situations of language, and sexual content.
REVIEW
I’ve enjoyed each installment of Aubrey Bondurant’s Something series so far, and I’d been very much looking forward to Catherine’s story. Bondurant’s writing style and her brand of smutty chick-lit books are always entertaining, sexy, great reads. I’m asked on occasion to name an author who I thought more people should be reading, and unsurprisingly, Aubrey Bondurant is one of those authors the comes to my mind. She’s a very talented author, and I haven’t yet read one of her novels that I didn’t thoroughly enjoy. I’m going to be very careful in this review, though, as the hero’s identity is a bit of a spoiler, and I don’t want to give it away.
“Time to do this before I chickened out.”
Catherine is in her mid-thirties and a very successful editor of the top fashion magazine, Cosmo Life. She’s a recognized fashion icon and authority. While she has her professional life in check, her personal life is another story. On the heels of a divorce that she didn’t see coming, she’s floundering in her efforts to rejoin the dating scene. Part of the problem is that she misreads—or just plain misses—the signals and subtle signs that men send her and when she tries, she often misreads them. She has not mastered the subtle art of flirty bantering, and her attempts come off more awkward than seductive. She needs help.
“Maybe there was hope for me yet.”
Enter the masked man, Calvin, and some private lessons at Club Travesty, a high-end, exclusive and discreet sex club. Catherine may have donned a wig and took on the name Kat to mask her easily recognizable identity, but she fully embraced Calvin’s lessons, advice and assignments. So, despite her nearly overwhelming nervousness, Catherine is immersing herself in this experience that is so totally outside of her comfort zone, and she’s feeling more confident than she ever has. Or at least she was until she got the shock of her life at party when she hears a voice she immediately recognizes and turns to look into a pair of all-too-familiar eyes on a face that she knows…
“…keep taking chances. Sometimes the things that make you happy are found when you least expect it.”
As it turns out, Catherine knows the real man behind her masked sex club relationship tutor, Calvin. He runs in the same circles as she does, both professionally and socially. Once that gap is bridged, though, they start seeing each other privately. One of her big concerns was their age difference, he’s several years younger, but he approached their relationship with tremendous maturity and he was so patient and encouraging, it was truly inevitable that she would be swept off her feet by this man. He has his own issues, though, and surprisingly in the end it was his issues that got in the way of a relationship.
“All roads, no matter how rough, lead me here to you.”
Teach Me Something was another well written, well developed, humorous and sexy story about this group of friends that I’ve come to adore. I love this series so much, it’s one I never hesitate to highly recommend. Aubrey Bondurant’s Teach Me Something gets 4.5 smooches from me!

Riveted by Jay Crownover Excerpt Tour

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Marked Men books comes the next installment in the Saints of Denver series.

Everyone else in Dixie Carmichael’s life has made falling in love look easy, and now she is ready for her own chance at some of that happily ever after. Which means she’s done pining for the moody, silent former soldier who works with her at the bar that’s become her home away from home. Nope. No more chasing the hot as heck thundercloud of a man and no more waiting for Mr. Right to find her; she’s going hunting for him…even if she knows her heart is stuck on its stupid infatuation with Dash Churchill.
Denver has always been just a pit stop for Church on his way back to rural Mississippi. It was supposed to be simple, uneventful, but nothing could have prepared him for the bubbly, bouncy redhead with doe eyes and endless curves. Now he knows it’s time to get out of Denver, fast. For a man used to living in the shadows, the idea of spending his days in the sun is nothing short of terrifying.
When Dixie and Church find themselves caught up in a homecoming overshadowed with lies and danger, Dixie realizes that while falling in love is easy, loving takes a whole lot more work…especially when Mr. Right thinks he’s all wrong for you.

EXCERPT
CHAPTER ONE EXCERPT:
“I can’t believe it gets worse, Dixie.” She shook her hair at me and I wanted to reach out and touch the bronze strands. They glimmered like they were lit from within. Everything about her was meant to shimmer and shine through the shadows that surrounded her. Eventually that inner glow was going to break free and I hoped I was around to see it. “I didn’t think it could get worse than the guy who wanted you to be third person in a ménage à trois with his wife.”
I sucked back a mouthful of wine at that and shuddered. “Yeah, when he told me it was fine because their kids were with his parents for the weekend I almost threw my water at him. That was bad, but this mother was still the worst. It was a shame because her son was actually really cute and I think if he wasn’t so browbeaten he might actually be a good guy.” I lifted a shoulder and let it fall. “Oh well, you live and you learn.”
Something crossed her beautiful face, something tragic and painful that hurt to look at, but it was only there for a second and then her typical serene and unaffected expression was firmly back in place. “If you’re lucky you get to live. So no more online dating?”
I nodded and finished off the rest of my wine. “No more. There seems to be an infinite amount of crazy out there in the world and I’m a magnet for it.”
They can be whoever they want to be on the internet, Dixie. You’ll never know who you’re dealing with, and that’s dangerous. Church’s warning drifted through my mind and it made me want to hit something. He was right. He also always seemed to be looking out for me, which would be thrilling, exciting, and exactly what I wanted if he had been doing it out of something other than some misguided need to watch out for me because we worked together. If he cared about what happened to me because he cared about me in some way, shape, or form, I would be over the moon. But really it all boiled down to the fact that I was important to the people that were important to him, so he didn’t want to see anything bad happen to me.
I was turning to pour another glass of wine when Poppy and I both started as someone started pounding on the apartment door. I gasped a little as Poppy jumped to her feet in a panic with a startled yelp pealing out of her throat. Alarmed by the human’s distress Dolly started to growl and stalked to the door like the born protector that she was. She let out a sharp bark that had me practically sprinting across the room to see who was causing the commotion so that her gruff growling and sharp yapping didn’t wake up the neighbors.
I glanced at Poppy and frowned when I saw that she was as white as my countertop and looked like she was going to pass out. Her hand was to her throat and her fingers were shaking so badly I could see the tremors all the way across the room. She was terrified. I wanted to fix that for her but I didn’t know how. “Dixie, open the door. I left Kallie and I need a place to crash for a few days.” The voice on the other side of the door was as familiar as my own. His words made me swear out loud as I pulled the door open without another thought given to the fact that Poppy might end up facedown on the carpet.
“You left Kallie?” I barely got the words out before my little sister’s obviously furious and clearly frustrated fiancé barreled into the tiny living space. I shut the door behind him. Dolly went about her typically happy greeting once she realized she knew the tall, lanky, auburn-haired man that was now frantically pacing through my living room, raking his heavily tattooed hands through his messy hair.
“She’s been cheating on me . . . again. I was such an idiot to believe her when she told me it would never happen again after the last time. How could she do this to me after all we’ve been through together?” His heated blue eyes locked on me and I could see he was struggling to keep both his emotions and the moisture trapped in his eyes in check. “We’re supposed to be getting married in a few months.” His voice cracked and I couldn’t stop myself from walking over and wrapping my arms around his trim waist.
“Oh, Wheeler. I’m so sorry.” My sister was an idiot, but in all honesty so was he. My sister didn’t know how to be an adult without him and he didn’t know how to be a family without her. They were scarily dependent on each other and had been since they were kids. Now Kallie was barely twenty-two and had everything I wanted in the palm of her hand—the brand new house Wheeler bought for them to start their lives together, an engagement ring that made my heart squeeze with envy. I would treasure the love and promises she had been given and part of me died every single time I watched my sister be careless and reckless with what Wheeler had handed her. “You can stay here for as long as you need to. Do you want me to call her?” If I did I was going to rip her a new one. I loved my sister dearly, but at the moment I would gladly strangle her with my bare hands.

Molly grew up in California but now lives in the oh-so-amazing state of Texas with her husband, daughter, and fur babies. When she’s not diving into the world of her characters, some of her hobbies include hiking, snowboarding, traveling, and long walks on the beach … which roughly translates to being a homebody with her hubby and dishing out movie quotes. She has a weakness for crude-humored movies and fried pickles, and loves curling up in a fluffy comforter during a thunderstorm … or under one in a bathtub if there are tornados. That way she can pretend they aren’t really happening.

A Thousand Letters by Staci Hart Release Blitz
Sometimes your life is split by a single decision.
I’ve spent every day of the last seven years regretting mine: he left, and I didn’t follow. A thousand letters went unanswered, my words like petals in the wind, spinning away into nothing, taking me with them.
But now he’s back.
I barely recognize the man he’s become, but I can still see a glimmer of the boy who asked me to be his forever, the boy I walked away from when I was young and afraid.
Maybe if he’d come home under better circumstances, he could speak to me without anger in his voice. Maybe if I’d said yes all those years ago, he’d look at me without the weight of rejection in his eyes. Maybe if things were different, we would have had a chance.
One regretted decision sent him away. One painful journey bought him back to me. I only wish I could keep him.
*A contemporary romance inspired by Jane Austen’s Persuasion*

Review
WOW! Staci Hart wrote a book that tore me apart and made the tears pour from my face. Deeply emotional and poetically written A Thousand Letters takes you on a journey with two people who have hurt each other so too much and have to learn to move past the pain in order for them to have a future.
Elliot and Wade walked away from each other years ago but the pain of their parting has never healed. Now years later when Wade’s dad who is Elliot’s mentor gets fatally sick with cancer they must come together to say goodbye. But true love never just goes away and those feelings are mixed in deep with all the pain and hate creating a tense but enticing atmosphere.
Staci’s writing show tremendous growth and her words are powerful in this second chance romance. My heart ached at times but in the best possible way. I yearned for more and hope she tries this style of writing that is deeply rooted in emotion once again.

EXCERPT
Max stalked over to the barrier that divided the stands from the football field and jumped it. The fans went nuts as he brushed past them, some not even realizing it until he was down the aisle. The Jumbotron followed him.
“Good Lordy, what’s he doing?” Mimi asked, clutching at her chest.
“I don’t know,” I said rather weakly, taking the chance to study him the closer he came. He was beautiful, his shoulders impossibly broad. To add to the distraction, his helmet was in his hand and all that dark brown hair was flowing around his chiseled features as if he had a fan in his face. My Viking.
“He’s coming over here,” Mimi commented.
He was. But why?
I stopped breathing . . .right when he came to a halt in front of me and knelt down on one knee.
Eyes the color of a wild ocean gazed at me.
He took my left hand in his right one.
“Max,” I breathed, my heart fluttering.
He gazed up at me. “Sunny Blaine, will you marry me?”
The stadium went wild. In a daze, I looked up at the Jumbotron and felt like I was watching this happen to someone else. Camera phones flashed all around us.
My first clear thought was I’ll kill him.
Aloud, nothing came out but a faint wheeze. Clearly someone had stuffed a giant wad of cotton in my mouth. Clearly I needed something a lot stiffer to drink than this Diet Coke. Clearly my fake boyfriend was a freaking raving lunatic.
He sat his helmet on the ground next to my feet, reached inside it and pulled out a small black box.
No, no, no!
The box opened, and my stomach churned at the sight of the large round solitaire diamond ring that was nestled on the black silk. I blinked repeatedly to clear my vision.
With deft fingers, Max eased it out of the lining and slipped it on my left hand.
I stared down at it. Then back at him.
I was going to murder the hottest quarterback in the country.
Kiss her, Kiss her, the crowd chanted.
We were the focal point of the entire world.
Max stood and tugged me up with him until we were standing. He slid his hand around my neck and pulled his face to mine. The sky was blotted out as he kissed me.
But I hadn’t said yes!
I wouldn’t say yes.
Not to a fake engagement.
The applause of the stadium was deafening. And his kiss—it was deadly. Despite my rage, my body craved him. His lips were hot, so hot, and my tongue met his with a vengeance. We kissed hard, and I nipped at him, my teeth scraping across his lips. But the only one who’d end up bleeding in this scenario was me.
He eased back to take me in, and with a final look at my face he gave a thumbs-up sign to the entire stadium. They went nuts, chanting his name.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered in my ear, letting his hand trail down my arm as he stepped back from me. He walked away backward, eyes on me the entire time. The announcers for the game told everyone who might have missed it that Max Kent had just asked his girlfriend to marry him, and she’d said yes. More cheers came as they replayed him on his knee in front of me with a giant YES written across the top.
I plopped back down in my seat. Frozen.
“. . . did you see her face? Shocked . . .”
“. . . most romantic thing in football . . .”
“. . . luckiest girl in the world . . .”
My face went hot. Even my ears burned. I wanted to crawl under a seat.
God.
What a lie.
The half ended and our offense came out to the field, snapped the ball, and Max threw it straight to Tate who ran it in for another touchdown. My chest constricted and anger churned in my gut.
I didn’t care who won.
I hated football right now.
Most of all, I hated Max Kent, and I was going to make him pay.

Undone: An Outside The Cage Novella by A.S. Teague Review
5 Smooches!
Synopsis
After promising to complete the bucket list, we set off on the adventure of a life time. But, with every new excursion, a new set of problems arise.
We may be doing it for him, but we’re losing ourselves with each task completed. Can we keep our promises without ruining each other?
Review
I loved A.S. Teague’s debut novel, Undisputed, the love story of MMA fighter, Breccan Carlisle, and Sidney O’Neil. I fell hard for the couple and their story, and it was one of the books that took me most by surprise in 2016. Way more than just a fighter novel, it was poignant and emotional and so sexy. I finished that novel wanting more of that couple and their story. Obviously, I wasn’t the only one, and A.S. Teague has heeded the call by giving readers this fantastic novella.
Undone starts off with a bang, getting right down to it with Breccan and Sidney as they embark on another adventure to tick off the items on her beloved nephew, Connor’s, bucket list. While there was more levity in this novella than there was in Undisputed, there were still some very emotional moments along with plenty of happy developments.
This novella was everything that I hoped for and wanted in an update on Sidney and Breccan’s happily ever after. It was steamy, loving and moving. A.S. Teague’s Undone: An Outside The Cage Novella gets five smooches from me!
