Synopsis:

Chase Cade is as untethered as a kite without a string.

The minute she drives past the “Welcome to Maybelle” sign after six months traveling, she knows the quaint little town is something new entirely. It’s more than the good food and welcoming people — with the exception of the gruff bartender she meets her first night out.

Aden Riveau couldn’t be more rooted in Maybelle if he were an actual tree.

In a town that caters to tourists, his bar is the only place the locals have all to themselves. Everyone knows him and he knows everyone, and nothing spoils his peace more than having to deal with nosy, gawking tourists who don’t stick around.

She’s only in Maybelle for a vacation, and he’s never taken a vacation in his life. He can’t stop thinking about how different she is, and she can’t stop trying to figure him out. But her reservation has an end, and his never will, unless he can find a way to pour his heart out.

Check out our 4.5 smooches review HERE.

Excerpt:

“Do you think I could get into your secret bartender society now?” she asked with a small, fleeting smile. “Since you kind of just poured out your heart to me?”

Aden looked down at her, his grip relaxing on the railing, the lines at his mouth growing shallower and then all but smoothing off his cheeks, only to reappear suddenly around his eyes as he grinned. “I don’t know, the dues are pretty high,” he warned her.

Holy fucking shit, she thought, her brain flushed of all ability to function. That smile was not the smile of a boring, humorless cynic. It was… it was transformative, like using the flash on a camera so that an image which would be bleak and all shadows without it became colorful and saturated. Her knees locked so that she wouldn’t tip over.

“I’m a pretty good negotiator,” she promised, her brain still mush.

And then he chuckled, a little rumbly sort of thing like a muscle car idling on the street outside, and her heart turned over hard, because that smile and that chuckle were the first time he’d reacted positively to her, untainted by his grumpy attitude. It was… beautiful, and her brainless mind whispered, unable to help it, “But your ex, it is over?”

“It’s definitely over,” he declared in that same rumble as his chuckle.

Shivering again, her brain still too tipsy to overanalyze anything, she lifted her hands to scrape up the plaid fabric of his shirt slowly, bumping over the pockets on his pecs. She gripped the muscles right next to his neck and rocked up on the toes of her wedges as best as she could. Her eyes fell again to his mouth, and she kissed him.

She was expecting him to hold her at bay or turn his head, not feeling what she was.

But those hot, rough hands cupped the back of her head, squishing the tips of her ears heedlessly, and a thick tongue licked her bottom lip. On a soundless gasp, she caught it, and the kiss became a wet surge of tongues back and forth between their mouths. Her body stumbled against his and he took her weight. Their arms tangled together and her thighs trembled from the effort of keeping her balance on her wedges, but she didn’t care.

Her exes were also steady, reliable men like Aden, but it had left them dull, their kisses without spirit. Aden kissed like a man who was just as lost in the moment as she, that crooked nose blowing hot blasts against her cheeks as if he were a galloping stallion.

The minutes tumbled one past the next until she grew dizzy from not being able to take in enough air. Then she stepped back with a gasp, their mouths pulling apart so suddenly that they hung open. Aden stared down at her, his lips parted and his breaths quick.

“Wow,” she breathed in appreciation, “was that your first kiss post-ex?”

Synopsis

I’m the girl from the school of hard knocks.

Nothing has ever come easy for me. So forgive me if I’m a bit reluctant about Kincaid Griffin – born-with-a-silver-spoon in his mouth, conceited college hoops player. A guy who could get any girl he wants, and yet, is suddenly everywhere I am trying to woo me. The more I protest, the more persistent he becomes.

I’m a lucky bastard.

Let’s face it. As a college athlete, I don’t chase girls – they come to me. I’m as arrogant and cocky as they come, getting nearly everything I want, whenever I want. But there is nothing sweeter than a girl who plays hard to get. And Ainsley Locker is so full of confidence that she knocks me off my feet from the moment I meet her. She’s a challenge. And I like challenges. So I go full-court press to win her over.

But when a stupid mistake turns viral, slam dunking all over my life in a media frenzy, my spot on the team may be in jeopardy, along with my shot at winning the girl.

REVIEW

Ainsley has had it tough in life and she has worked hard. Meaning she won’t make it easy for the college superstar, Cade, who is desperate to win her affections. He’s had it easy and all the women flock to him but Ainsley isn’t like other girls and Kincaid is up for the challenge. But will one mistake lead to the end of Kincaid’s easy life and make him lose his chance of ever winning Ainsley’s heart?

“If I ever saw Kincaid again, I think I might be tempted to smack him in his face for being a whiny little bitch. Or run straight into his arms.”

I LOVED Ainsley’s character straight from the start. She works hard for everything she has ever got and she looks after her family, even while being so young herself still. I love that she still has goals for herself and won’t let her upbringing stop her for being who she wants to be. She really is the definition of a strong, reliant and dependable to those she loves and looks after.

“You like what you see?”

“Do you even need to ask? You’re kind of perfection.”

Cade is whole other story!! You could say he was basically the opposite to begin with. Cocky, entitled, thinking everything and everyone should just come to him with ease. But as the story progresses you see his patient and caring side. I feel like he grows and learns as he starts to realise how much Ainsley means to him and he finally works hard for something that is important to him.

“I had to wear her down before she’d finally agree to see me. And second, there’s more to her than just a sexy body. I know she’s smart. Kind. Generous. And she works hard to get what she’s after.”

A really beautiful, exciting and just great feel good romance read! This really was an opposites attract story and in the end I truly loved that these two got together and were made for each other. We have Ainsley’s hard family life that brings drama, sadness and some grit to the story and Cade’s mess up which leaves his future looking not so certain after all. And the feisty, steamy, hot, and not always easy, relationship between Ainsley and Cade kept me completely enthralled and by the end I was crossing my fingers and toes hoping they would end up together! Altogether, an enjoyable, fun read of a college romance.

“Instead of returning the love, I’ve pushed him away, unaccepting of the love he’s so freely given.”

Synopsis

He’s silent—but his touch speaks louder than words.

At first sight, Savannah is drawn to the harsh appeal of a man who refuses to talk to her. Keenan’s hard stare is arrogant and unapologetic. The quirk of his sensuous lips is cocky and in control.

But there’s more. There’s something deeper he’s trying to hide behind those steely grey eyes—a slight hint of vulnerability which captures her intrigue.

She’d been warned, told that his silence hides a myriad of lies capable of affecting her career and relationships with loved ones. Only she can’t help herself. Testing Keenan’s defenses is an addiction she can’t deny.

Falling in lust is easy. Learning his secrets comes with a price. The cost? Her broken heart.

REVIEW

I’m not sure what I expected going into Inarticulate, but I was definitely intrigued by the blurb. I’m in a bit of an unusual position now, having to admit that I struggled to get through it in some places while I almost devoured it in others. So let me start by saying first that this book was very well written. Eden Summers has a way of weaving her words elegantly, and this book, given the constraints of the hero, absolutely warranted that type of writing skill. Unfortunately, though, for as much as I was able to appreciate the author’s undeniable writing talent, I still found this story to be, at times, almost frustrating to get through.

My personal tastes when it comes to those stories that I’m most drawn to tend to be the ones that are more dialogue centric. Obviously for this story, there wouldn’t be any spoken words or bantering or back-and-forth, but while the hero didn’t verbally communicate, he did have a lot to say. But it was one of his main methods of communication with Savannah, given his limitations, that I found to be a bit exasperating. I had a hard time accepting that entire conversations between this couple were had gazing into each other’s eyes and reading the emotions there.

I’m purposely being a bit vague here, and for that I apologize, but I don’t want to offer any spoilers here. There were some twists and turns that I really don’t want to give away. I had issues with a few other plot points as well, but primarily, I think it was actual conversations between the Keenan and Savannah that I was missing. Disappointingly, this lack of dialogue was replaced with long – very long – internal monologues. I totally believe that some internal dialogue is necessary in any story to give the reader insight into a character but, more often than not, these lengthy monologues tipped the scale into rambling and were just too drawn out for me.

The thing is, though, that Summers managed to create a wholly interesting, enigmatic, mysterious character in Keenan, the hero, and she did it, unbelievably, without him uttering a single word. That in itself was an incredible feat, but it was made even more so because while no actual words left his mouth, he still had a lot to say. I had a bit of a tougher time warming up to the heroine. Savannah was almost dispassionate, having just extricated herself from a complicated, loveless, colleagues (not even a friend!) with benefits situation. She was presumptuous and, at times, judgmental, and it was exactly those qualities that were the driving forces in her culpability.

Again, this book was beautifully written, and there were a lot of things I did like about this story. The plot was interesting and there was an unusual element of suspense to this book that was fresh and different and very well done. Keenan and Savannah positively sizzled together; their chemistry leapt right off the page. There was intrigue and secrecy, and it was what drove the plot along and kept me going – I wanted to know what was going to happen! – during those parts where I was frustrated by the wordiness of those inner monologues.

Inarticulate wound up being a bit hit or miss for me. Fortunately, there were enough hits to keep me going to completion.  I’m coupling that with the stellar writing and giving Eden Summers’ Inarticulate 3.5 smooches.

Review

Crazy For You is a fast and fun novella in the Loco, Texas series by Codi Gary. A complete standalone, this story follows the town klutz and the boy she crushed on in high school who obliterated her heart years ago. Now he is back in town and despite the fact that she is still a walking disaster he cannot help but want her like no one else before. But with a stalker on the loose and her feelings still hurt who knows what could happen!

‘Before Christmas, she was going to get a man and shed her horrible luck if it was the last thing she did.’

This story was just so sweet and with the Halloween undertones it has me all excited and ready for fall. Alpha Finn stole my heart and Deana’s just go for it attitude sealed the deal. If you are looking for a sweet and sexy second chance romance that you can read in an hour or so than this is just the story you need. I love Codi’s writing and I hope she brings us more books in this series in the future!

Review

Pour Your Heart Out by Zoe Lee is a debut novel with tons of heart and soul. Setting up a series that is destined to be good; Pour Your Heart Out gave me all the sweet happy feels I look forward to with small town romances.

Chase is a world traveler and Aden is a local bar owner who loves his small town and the people in it. The two could not have more different lives and from the outside they look completely wrong for each other. And yet . Not only do the two constantly find themselves in each others company they are both growing to desire more of it which is magical and scary at the same time. Chase is passing through and Aden is here to stay, what could possibly come from this?

Zoe Lee gives us a quintessential small town romance with tons of small town charm and a large cast of characters I can’t wait to know more about. I have fallen hard for the people of Maybelle and I know you will too.

book blurb

I watch.

I study.

I prowl.

I hunt.

I always go in with a plan. A set of rules for myself. I don’t take unnecessary risks. That’s how I’ve been able to evade capture all these years.

But there’s something about this girl that is different than the others. When I finally meet her, the rules become a blur. And I break the most important one of all—I take her with me.

——-

It’s just my imagination—that feeling of being watched. That those icy eyes— a vivid turquoise with a distinct golden fleck—aren’t watching me.

It’s just stress. I am the person everyone relies on. Maybe that’s why I haven’t been feeling so content with my life lately. Why I dream those eyes belong to someone who can tear me away from all of my responsibilities.

But these are just shameful fantasies, never meant to breach reality.

Then one night, the dream comes true, only it’s a horrific nightmare.

Now, I only have one task: survival.

excerpt

Patience. It’s the most important tool in my arsenal. I plan every hunt from start to finish. I watch their lives through windows. I learn their routines. I enter their homes and go through their keepsakes and take a small token here or there. Something they won’t notice or assume they have misplaced. I may move a picture. Eat something. Just enough so that somewhere in their subconscious they feel my presence long before I am standing in front of them. That used to be enough. Just being there, surrounded by their things, the vestiges of their daily lives. It used to be enough to look at the tokens I kept and remember the rush I felt being inside the walls I had watched from afar. But that rush faded a long time ago, vanishing in a spectacular eruption the day the one person who understood me died. Without her, the loneliness became unbearable and the rage swelled. It filled me until I could feel it creeping out of my skin, until I was so full of rage and pain that I had to put it on someone else to make it disappear. Watching wasn’t enough. I had to hear their voices. See their faces. Steal their lives. So instead of just taking, I began to leave things behind: tape, rope, gloves, lube.

“…It isn’t often that I find a book where a female author has tapped into the mind of a male character so well that you forget he isn’t a real person….” -Goodreads Review

“…Sara Ney has this one in the bag, as it is one of the best romance comedies I have read in a while…I found myself staying up all night — I could not put the book down. …”  -Goodreads Review

“…This is a book you must read. So wickedly funny. Ridiculously entertaining. If you like the jerks as much as I do, you will go head-over-heels in love with How To Date A Douchebag! I started this one late one night and had to move to the couch so I didn’t wake up my husband…” -Author Adriana Locke

Jameson’s face is an impassive mask. “Hayley told me you broke up with your last girlfriend over Twitter.”

A grimace twists my mouth into a frown. “Oh, Hayley told you, did she? Didn’t your mother teach you not to listen to rumors?”

“Yes, but is it true?”

“Yes, but in my defense, she wasn’t my girlfriend. She was a pity f**k who turned into a clinger.”

“A Twitter breakup?” This time Jameson winces. “That’s bad.”

“Sorry, but it’s the truth. It was the only way to get rid of her. Trust me, I did her a favor.”

“How is that doing her a favor? She was probably humiliated!” Then, “Can I ask what the tweet said?”

I chuckle. “Why don’t you just go on Twitter and look for yourself.”

Those fascinating eyes, which have been judging me for the past few minutes, narrow into bright blue slits as she drags her phone across the table, flips it over, and unlocks the screen.

Gives it a few taps.

“What name am I looking for?”

“OneTapUofI. All one word.”

Type, type, type.

Narrowed eyes widen, dark eyebrows shoot up. Her pert mouth falls open a fraction in horror when she finds it. “This is terrible! You are so crude.”

I chuckle again. “Read it out loud so I can get a good laugh.”

“No!”

“Oh come on, Jim! She had it coming.”

“No! You called her a troll—that is so uncalled for.” She glances down at the screen of her phone. “This whole tweet is terrible.”

“Careful, you’re repeating yourself.”

“Oh shut up, you—”

“Asshole?”

“Yes.”

“Dickhead?”

“Yes.”

“Douchebag?”

She titters. “You said it, not me.”

Purveyor of all things witty & romantic, I love: iced latte’s, traveling, and bright, bold colors. On any given day, you can find me in my office, lovingly gazing at my bookshelf or shuffling my Bic felt-tip pen collection. I love hand writing letters, and sarcasm.

I live in the midwest, but “Will Write for Travel,” and believe everyone should follow their dreams, no matter how big or small. My favorite authors include Cindy Miles, S Walden, Suzanne Enoch, Tessa Dare (to name a few). I am a glutton for Historical, RomCom, Sports and MC romance.

One husband. Two daughters. Plenty of chaos.
