Blurb:
Never in a million years would I have pictured myself as an axe-wielding, dragon lady, chopping up multi-colored flannel shirts into my very own plaid mulch. But here I am, chopping away my frustrations.

It all started when my brother, Paul, convinced me to go on one last family road trip across the Mother Road with him and my dad.. Just like old times, right? Wrong. What Paul fails to mention is his best man, Porter, will be joining us, who just so happens to be my childhood crush and the man who broke my heart four years ago.

What is supposed to be a fun, family bonding experience across Route 66 turns into a war
of pranks, awkward moments and bathrooms full of dirty flannel shirts and day old beard clippings. Paul’s know-it-all attitude and Porter’s devilish charm brings me to the brink of my sanity on my seven day trek across the United States with three bearded men in a small 1980’s RV.

Excerpt
“Marley, put the axe down and step away from the flannels,” Porter says, hands extended, as if he wants to help.
“You’re not in a good frame of mind. This is not who you are. You’re not an axe wielding psychopath looking to make a pile of long sleeved cotton into your very own plaid colored mulch,” Paul tries to convince her.

“Buttons, please put the axe down. We can talk about whatever is bothering you. Please don’t chop up Daddy’s Americana flannel shirt.”

Let’s pause for a second; do you see those three men standing to the side, fear in their eyes, sweat at their temples, with their hands clutched at their waists and their asses tight enough to pop open a bottle of beer?

Yeah, those three, they’re the reason why I’m foaming at the mouth, gripping an axe three sizes too big for my body with my heels dug deep into the wet and muddy ground.

That’s me, Marley McMann, the brunette in the “rustic” orange bridesmaid dress with a bouquet sticking out of my hair and a pile of multi-colored poly-blend barf rags resting in front of me, waiting to be minced into my very own personal hamster shit shavings.

I’m not usually threatening to slice the buttons off of men’s clothing with a lead shiv big enough to cut down a knotty vagina-looking sycamore tree. But I’ve had my limit.

There comes a time in a girl’s life when she has to reach deep down into her soul, clear the pathways of her inner goddess, and let out her nuclear Satan. You know what I’m talking about.

The crazy.

Don’t try to act like you don’t have it; every woman does.

Let me paint you a picture. It’s that time of the month; its shark week, as some may say. The civil war is being reenacted by your ovaries and death is scatted over your fallopian tubes. You’re crippled over in pain on your couch, half a Snickers bar hanging out of your mouth, a heating pad pressed against your innards, and a blanket wrapped around you as if you’re a cocktail wiener in a Pillsbury croissant. The Hallmark Channel is airing that Mario Lopez movie you’ve been dying to see and not because the plot looks good, but because you want to reminisce on your Saved by the Bell days. Mario is the only thing getting you through this time of need, that and the chocolate drool slowly dripping into the back of your throat.

You’re content, minus the battlefield in your uterus, when all of a sudden, out of nowhere, the mister in your life flops on the couch, causing a ripple within your cocoon. Your heating pad shifts and your Snickers bar falls to the ground. The swoon-worthy shot of Mario with his shirt off gets switched to some stupid sporting game just as the mister lifts his ass in your direction and blasts two large farts.

Can you feel the monster start to awaken?

You try to remain calm; you tell yourself it’s going to be alright…until one simple crack of his knuckles rings through the room. You lose it. Your eyelids flip inside out, fire shoots out of your vagina, and your toenails grow to exponential pterodactyl lengths. You’re at his throat, scratching his jugular with your toes until you’re satisfied enough with the human carnage you’ve turned him into.

That moment right there, that’s where I’m at.

In all honesty, I’m a pleasant human. I have my own beauty blog and live in sunny Los Angeles, where I pay an ass ton of money to live in a two-bedroom apartment the size of walk-in closet, but I make it work. You know those hidden Murphy beds? I have one; be jealous. I get to work from home, test out different cosmetics, and write about them. I’ve got a pretty easy going life, or at least I did.

It all started when Paul, my older brother, decided to get married. No, this isn’t one of those stories where I talk about the evil soon to be sister-in-law and how she’s ruined my life. I actually adore Savannah; she’s perfect for my brother, minus the big eyes. I swear she blinks three times less than the average human.

This is about the week leading up to my brother’s wedding…the week that I now refer to on my blog as the journey of three beards and a mascara brush.

Confused? Don’t be; you will understand very quickly where I’m coming from.

About the Author:

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!

Synopsis

Hockey legend Devin Garrison thought he blew his shot. But his relationship with Callie Caplan just went into overtime.

Sexy, rich, and one of the biggest stars in the NHL, Devin Garrison has always been the one who had it all. That is until his marriage falls apart and he realizes he has to start over. If he’s honest, there has only been one woman who ever really excited him-Callie Caplan. They shared a night that was hotter than the late-summer sun, but in an instant-Callie was gone, pretending it never happened.

Callie Caplan isn’t the wild child people think she is. It’s true she’s avoided relationships, but only because she’s seen how crazy love can be. And her messy, imperfect life is crazy enough without opening her heart to a man-even one as picture perfect as Devin. But when fate brings them back together-just as they need each other most-Devin is determined to convince Callie that what she’s feeling is real. And this final play may be their chance at forever . . .

Review

The Final Move is the third and last book in the Hometown Players series and brings us another Caplan and Garrison pairing and I for one was very excited. Having been following this series from the start I was curious where Devin and Callie’s story would go seeing as they had a past but he had a wife. Well things are not well at home and when Devin’s wife decides to leave him at the same time that his close friend Callie is in town he finds a new roommate and shoulder to lean on. This is not a story of a man hopping from one bed to another but the story of a man broken by the destruction of his family and learning to love and trust through someone he has always been drawn too.

Having grown up in a home without a strong example of love Callie decides that letting love lead your life is for fools and sets out to just have fun. Having had and left Devin years before she thinks she can move on esp since he did. But living with him and spending so much time starts to change her and soon she is desiring things she never thought she would want.

I loved Devin and Callie. They had so many obstacles and yet it was clear the whole time that they were perfect for each other. I am a huge fan of hockey romances and hope that Victoria Denault continues to put them out as she not only captures the beauty of these gruff and rough around the edges men but also the excitement and danger of the sport itself.

Synopsis

One playboy billionaire.
One heartbroken heiress.
One sham marriage.

What could go wrong?

***
The Wedding of Molly O’Flaherty is the second and final novella in the London Lovers series and is intended for mature audiences only.

Review

I could not wait to read the conclusion of Molly and Silas story.  The first part was so incredibly hot and rich with plot.  We were left with so many questions and I could not wait to find out what happened.  Would Molly marry someone else? Would the real culprit be caught?  I was dying for answers!

‘Molly belonged to me.  The only thing remaining was to prove it.’

The conclusion of this story was done so incredibly well.  It was steamy, intriguing and oh, I felt so much for both of these main characters.  Molly has been suffering silently for years and it was so good to see her finally get hers and I was so ecstatic to see Silas be apart of that.  These two won me over immediately and I simply fell in love with more and more each chapter.

“All the shame and all the fear and all the hate, and I want you to let it all go.  Give it to me, give yourself to me, and I will carry it all for you.  For the rest of eternity or even just for a few minutes.  Give it to me.”

I really do love this authors writing and she does erotica so incredibly well.  I cannot wait for more from her, hopefully a story about a certain Baron soon!

But I noticed him.

I saw him. I heard him. The things that he did, and the deeds that he hid…For years, I bit my nails, unable to look away.

Now, I’ve graduated high school and moved on to college, but I haven’t stopped watching Michael. He’s bad, and the dirt I’ve seen isn’t content to stay in my head anymore.

Because he’s finally noticed me.

• • • Corrupt ~ Excerpt • • •

I fell back to my feet and crept through my apartment as I listened to the pounding that had now become a steady attack. My feet followed the sound, stepping absently closer to it, and I finally pressed my ear against the wall leading to my hallway, my heart racing as the vibrations touched my skin.

Resting my cheek against the surface, I swallowed the tight lump in my throat as the thumping against the wall grew faster and faster.

There was someone over there. In the empty apartment.

Holding up my phone, I dialed the office downstairs but got no answer. I knew there was a night manager named Simon Something-Or-Other, but I didn’t think many people were on duty at night. He must be away from his desk.

I continued listening, wondering if I could ignore it and just wait until morning to ask the manager about it, but the further down the hall I travelled, the louder it got until I was standing next to the rear entrance.

Opening up the door, I peeked my head into the hallway, holding the heavy steel exit open just enough to inspect.

Glancing to my right, I saw a door just like mine. And then I heard a woman’s high-pitched cry ring out around me, and I started breathing harder.

And then there was another cry. And another, and another, and…

Was she having sex? My mouth fell open as I tried not to laugh.

Oh, my God.

But I thought the place was supposed to be empty.

I stepped out, knife in hand—just in case—and walked quietly down to the other door, glancing up and seeing small security cameras along the wall, probably installed when the apartments were built.

Pressing my ear to the door, I listened, still hearing the thump, thump, thump of something hitting the wall, and the girl’s breathy cries over and over again.

I folded my lips between my teeth, covering my smile with my free hand.

But then the woman cried out. “No! Ah, oh, God! Please!”

And my face fell, hearing the fear in her voice. The short, shrill screams were now different. Panicked and scared, and her cries sounded struggled. My mouth suddenly went dry as I stood there listening.

“Ah!” she cried out again. “No, please stop!”

I backed away from the door, not finding it funny anymore.

But then something hit the door from the other side, making a loud thud, and I scurried backward. “Oh, shit,” I gritted out under my breath.

I shot my head up to the cameras, now wondering if they fed to Security downstairs or to whoever was inside the apartment. Did they know I was out here?

I spun around and dashed for my door, grabbing the handle and trying to twist it.

But it was locked. “Dammit!” I mouthed. Fucking thing must lock automatically.

Another thud hit the door, mere feet away from me—so close—and I darted my eyes over to it, my breathing turning fast and painful.

I pulled on the door handle again, twisting and yanking, but it didn’t budge.

Another thud hit the door, and I jerked upright, dropping the knife.

“Shit.”

I dived down to pick it up, but just then I heard the other door swing open, so I bolted down the stairwell, hiding behind the wall and forgetting about the knife.

Fuck!

Screw this. Whoever was coming out of the vacant apartment was definitely someone I didn’t want to meet. I dashed down flight after flight, a cry lodged in my throat as fear gripped my chest.

A pounding echoed above me, and I spared a quick glance upward, seeing a hand sliding down the railings as whoever it was jumped flights of stairs.

Oh, my God. I raced down, one flight after the other, a drop of sweat gliding down my neck. The pounding was getting closer and closer, my legs about to give out as my exhausted muscles worked as fast as they could. I gasped, seeing the door labeled LOBBY. I yanked it open and burst through, looking behind me once again to see if he—or she—was behind me.

But then I slammed into a wall, and I let out a small cry as hands gripped my upper arms.

I looked up and exhaled a breath, seeing Michael Crist towering over me, his eyes narrowed.

“Michael?” I breathed out, frozen in confusion.

“What the hell are you doing?” He arched a brow and set me back, away from him, and let go of my arm. “It’s after one a.m.”

I opened my mouth, but nothing came out. Why was he here?

He stood in front of an elevator, a different one than I had taken this morning, dressed in a black suit, looking like he’d just been at a club or something. A young brunette stood next to him, beautiful in a tight, navy-blue cocktail dress that fell mid-thigh.

I suddenly felt exposed, dressed in my silk sleep shorts and black tank top, my hair hanging about, probably in tangles.

“I…” I looked over my shoulder again, noticing that whoever had followed me down the stairs hadn’t come out the door yet.

I twisted my head back, looking up at Michael. “I heard something up on my floor,” I told him.

And then I shook my head, still confused. “What are you doing here?”

“I live here,” he shot back, and I immediately recognized that ever-present intolerant tone that he always used with me.

“Live here?” I questioned. “I thought you lived in your family’s building.”

He slid a hand into his pocket and cocked his head, looking at me point-blank like I was stupid.

I closed my eyes, expelling a sigh. “Of course,” I breathed out, realization hitting. “Of course. You’re the one who lives on the twenty-second floor.”

Review

I have been wracking my brain trying to fire out what other book to compare this one to or how exactly to describe it and the truth is this book isn’t like anything I have read before but since I like books AND food, let’s go with food.  Corrupt is like a huge, thick, rich piece of chocolate cake.  It is thick in and rich in plot.  The sex is decadent in the most delicious way.  It has many layers that pretty much just leave you wanting more and more and when it is over, you feel satisfied and sated in the best possible way.

‘The closer you got to anything beautiful, the less beautiful it became.  Allure was in the mystery, not the appearance.’

I seriously had no idea what to expect with this book.  The synopsis is pretty vague and I have to tell you guys, that Penelope pretty much shocked the heck out of me.  I was floored and hooked from the very beginning.

Seriously, this book completely rocked my world.  I could not put it down.  I was so enveloped in this insane mystery that I pretty much stayed up all night reading it.  There are many things that I have come to expect from Penelope.  An angsty NA plot and smoking hot sex are two of those things and I completely love her books but she broke the mold with the mystery in this one.  Corrupt is, in one word, fantastic!

‘No, our scrapes and bruises, tattoos, scars, smiles, and wrinkles told our stories, and I didn’t want a pristine piece of wallpaper.’

I will not tell you one damn thing about this book.  Go in blind!  Experience the sex, mystery, intrigue, amazing writing with fabulous story all your own and then send me a message so we can talk and talk and talk about it!

‘He was always game.  And thanks to his tutelage, now so was I.  He’d corrupted me.’

Review

I admit, I am not a novella fan.  Especially after the couple has already had a book and the couple is together.  I love the getting together part of books.  I adore the getting to know each other phase and a lot of novellas that are the second book in a series do not have this.  But I absolutely loved Father Bell so I knew there was no way that I could not read Midnight Mass.  I mean, Priest was pretty much my top erotic read of 2015 so I snatched this one up!

‘You failed at being a priest. Now you’ll fail at being a husband.’

I am so glad that I decide to read this one!  It really did have a really great plot.  Tyler and Poppie have been married for three years now and they experiencing what “normal” couples experience.  Distance, jealousy, and just general marital problems.  So, you get a really good story and you also get some really freaking smoking hot sex.  HALLELUJAH!

“Come for me, Father Bell.”

This was a fabulous longish novella.  Magnificent writing and a sensual story that is panty melting hot!  If you loved Priest, you will no doubt love this one too!

‘Father Bell was here instead.  And church was in session.”

Ryder Axton

I always fight hard, fuck harder, and never let myself get personally involved. But my assignment, to apprehend Eduardo Miguel comes to a grinding halt when I find a missing federal witness held captive in his basement. It becomes fucking personal, fast!

Keeping Farrington safe, even if it—or more likely she—kills me, is now my only mission. But she’s terrified and fights me at every turn. Earning her trust becomes more than a way to save both our lives, it’s like an addictive drug. I need it—I need her to put her faith in me—the way I need air to breathe.

When she begins investigating the hidden parts of my soul, I almost can’t deny her.

I know I can protect her. I know I could pleasure her in one explosive night she’d always remember and I’d never forget. What I don’t know is how I could be falling so fucking hard. There’s no way in hell I can let that happen; getting too close to me comes with an ominous curse that won’t be defied.

I thought I had nothing to lose. I was wrong.

Rachel Farrington

I should’ve never taken that dangerous shortcut through the unlit alley to the frat party. It was where I saw a fellow student brutally murdered and how I made my way onto a cartel leader’s hit list.

As a federal witness, I thought I was safe in the protective custody of the FBI . . . that is until I woke up chained in the monster’s basement.

When a powerful and lethal soldier claiming to be a bounty hunter shows up, I’m not sure if he’s rescuing me or dragging me towards a greater hell. But after a series of experiences that defy death, the overwhelmingly sexy, dirty-minded, Navy Seal trained and hot blooded bounty hunter—who obviously plays by his own rules—just might win my trust.

He is not an ordinary man. He’s strong, dark and deadly; his past is mysterious and his motives unreadable. He seems to be made of the stuff of myth and legend, and of ink and steel.

Is Ryder Axton for real? Or is he employed by my captor for a more sinister purpose?

When Death comes… will we be strong enough to defy it?

Synopsis

When rugged bounty hunter Ryder Axton is hired to hunt down a cartel leader for a seven digit bounty, he doesn’t expect to find federal witness Rachel Farrington being held captive in the perp’s basement. For Ryder, shit gets personal and the routine arrest becomes a rescue mission. And he will stop at nothing to make Rachel safe.
Farrington has been in the basement for seven days. She knows the only reason she’s still alive and unharmed is because of her market value in the overseas sex-slave trade. That’s how Eduardo Miguel plans to keep her from testifying after seeing him brutally murder her fellow student—and how he’ll manage to pay off his enormous debt to the cartel for a botched drug deal at the same time.
Terrified and desperate, Farrington will do whatever it takes to escape her captors—including kill—the first opportunity she gets. So when Ryder, a scarred, rough, foul-mouthed, smooth talking, criminal tries to persuade her he’s rescuing her—even though she knows it’s just another part of the act to manipulate her in attempts to keep her calm and “undamaged” upon delivery—she sees her chance.
But when two rival gangs wage war above their heads and Ryder and Rachel are forced to take cover in the dark and deadly east Texas bayou, trusting one another for survival, they both realize they might never see another sunrise.
Can they both defy death . . . again?

Review

I’ve followed the charming and incredibly talented Allie since her first True North book published and have been an avid reader of her series’ since then.  There is something within her that is able to so easily dissect each and every character, giving them their own unique identity whilst also portraying realistically the lasting effects that their pasts can have on their future lives, their emotions, behaviours and ultimately their ability to make good choices.  Defy is an action-packed, gun-toting, thrill chase of drug cartels, kidnappings, corruption and a fragile yet hopeful willingness to put your trust in someone you barely know but who has the anti-hero mantel down pat.

Ryder is a terrific blend of sarcastic and sweet, he’s dark and light and has experienced some of the most horrific things in his lifetime and in turn those events have shaped him into this tattooed, Rambo that has a desperate need to save the girl and kill the bad guy.  Rachel is the damsel in question that after having witnessed something terrible and tragic is sent under witness protection but after it all goes seriously wrong, she and Ryder must work together to stay alive long enough to work through the myriad of murky emotions that each brings out in the other.

‘“Your life will go back to normal sooner than you think.  You’ll be back in classes and on that career track of yours, you’ll have a boyfriend, and all of this will only be a fading memory.”

“Do you really believe I could forget you so quickly?”  I whisper, overcome.

Ryder brings his lips to my ear and in a hushed tone that is simple as a breath he says, “Then don’t.”’

Allie’s writing in Defy is electrifying, she paints the action scenes so vividly with terrific attention to detail so you feel like you’re watching a full-fledged action hero movie in your head.  Each new book that she releases just seems to get better, the writing more mature, the characters more intriguing and diverse and the story as a whole more enthralling and addictive.  In Defy there is a fantastic quality and range of emotion to be explored, there are some really funny moments as well tender and super sexy to counterbalance the drama and violence.  The Brothers of Ink and Steel is one of the best series’ out there to buy right now and each book goes from strength to strength as does Allie’s writing and imagination.  I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us next.
