Check out our 4 smooches review HERE.

“Dare.” Ryle’s voice is cool, calm and collected as he mumbles his answer, like there isn’t another option.
“I dare you to—” Bradley’s interrupted by several females shouting in unison. “Take off your shirt!”
Ryle nods his head to the adorning crowd and grabs the rim of his shirt. Everyone with lady parts around the fire starts to drool. Me included. His movements are slow and sensual, and he doesn’t even bat an eye. Apparently removing an article of clothing in front of a crowd is a typical thing for him to do on a Saturday night. My needy eyes take notice to the “V” that waves hello to me as cloth is lifted from his body.
I melt.
Literally. My body fills like goo, and I wilt until nothing is left but a puddle of want and need.
“Ow ow.”
“Yumola!”

“Sexy beast.”
I feel like I need to wash my ears out. Rolling my eyes, I snatch Tank’s drink out of his hands and down it. Bottoms up.

Review

Adaley had her life mapped out for her; gymnastics, gymnastics and gymnastics. Until an injury turned that dream into a nightmare and she decides she has to escape her safe boyfriend and preacher father and go to university away from anyone she knows. When she gets there she meets her match in the form of Ryle. A guy she feels instant attraction for but who by his own admission is bad news, with demons he doesn’t want anyone to know about. Will these two help fix each other or will they tear each other apart?

“I’m frightened that he—anyone—will see me for what I am. A poser. A girl who’s desperately trying to be something she’s not.”

This was a really enjoyable read; it was entertaining, thrilling, funny, romantic and with an absolute shocker of an ending that you will never see coming!

“He was no longer a scared little boy fighting through the depths of other people’s depravity just to survive. He was Ryle Benson, baseball extraordinaire.  He was a survivor.”

I did love Adaley’s character, she was brave and had courage in her decision to move away and start new and she wasn’t going to let anyone walk over her. She had a fierce and sassy personality that was easily likeable. There were some moments when I wanted her to be stronger and stand tall like she had been but these moments were rare and she always came back to her independent and strong character. Her story moved me, I felt her pain when her dream died and I admired her drive to still make something of her life!

“Our story is just beginning. Don’t ruin it with tales from the past,” he rasps into my ear.”

I adored Ryle!! I loved his moody side, I loved his funny side, I loved his caring side. He was complex but with very good reason and the broodiness just made him intriguing and sexy. Yes supporting characters were great as well! I loved the brother and sister; they added some much needed lighter elements to the story and I’m actually really excited to get Taylor’s story.

“We can’t stay broken forever. I won’t make it through another day without you. We can’t sort this out together unless we forgive one another for our mistakes.”

The plot was unique in a way; I had never met a character with Adaley’s back story. The romance side was both sweet and sad, exciting and unexpected and we had little bits of everything; drama, laughter, sadness and the complete and utter surprise of an ending. I have to say I didn’t love the ending, I understand why the author wrote it that way but for me it was too sudden, there was no build up and it happened in the last page of the story…just like BANG, there’s the ending and then epilogue.

“My heart was black before you came into my life. It was tainted by a past that taught me far too much about life in a short period of time, but you changed it back to a vibrant red.”

Overall though this was a perfect summer read for those wanting a romance with an edge.

Before I can command my feet to move toward the shape—the safer of the two evils—I hear another sound in the opposite direction and foolishly turn my head. Synopsis

Everyone knows you should never say never.

Cooper Moore never saw Maggie Williams coming. She was just his best friend’s little sister, the curly-haired, freckle-faced girl from Mississippi who was absolutely off limits. And he never thought about her any other way — not until he saw her that night, broken and brave. From that moment on, he knew he’d do whatever it took to protect her, even if it meant he had to stay away.
Maggie never expected to find her fiancé banging her maid of honor an hour before she was set to walk down the aisle, but life’s funny that way. The only option to save her sanity is to get the hell out of Jackson and move to New York where her brother lives. The only downside: Cooper is there too. And she just doesn’t know if she can stay away from him — the filthy rich, dead sexy playboy who’s allergic to commitment.
The second Maggie sees him again, she realizes he’ll be impossible to resist. Luckily, commitment is the last thing on her mind, and Cooper is the perfect escape. As long as she can keep her heart in check, everything will be just fine. Because she can never have feelings for him. Or at least that’s what she’ll keep telling herself.

About the author

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life — a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom; she has three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife; even though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey. Her favorite word starts with f and ends with k.

From roots in Houston, to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she’s not writing, she’s sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.

Beneath Blood and Bone by Madeline Sheehan and Claire C. Riley Blog Tour

BBaB Front Blurb

It is the end of the world.

They call him Eagle, like the grand and beautiful bird that symbolizes freedom. During these dark times, when humanity is experiencing nothing but suffering, a man with such a powerful name should be a beacon of hope, yet he is anything but.

Her name is Autumn, but she hasn’t said this name or much of anything else in the four years since the fall of civilization. A shell of her former self, living wild in a cave at the bottom of a ravine, Autumn is accustomed to being alone. She prefers it, actually, especially when her only options for company either try to kill her, or worse, to lock her up inside their walls.

Captured by Eagle’s people, Autumn is suddenly thrust back into the land of the living, but she would hardly call it living. The community of Purgatory is full of sinners, the most evil of whom seem to have set their sights on her.

In an act born of anger and defiance, Eagle becomes Autumn’s unexpected savior, forcing these two solitary people into each other’s broken worlds. Neither knows quite what to make of the other, but one thing is certain. To survive Purgatory, they must learn how to rely on each other, a feat that could possibly teach them both how to live again.

Teaser

“There she was, lying on top of a filthy table, surrounded by rusty weapons, blades still covered in dried blood, and guns that needed to be cleaned and oiled. But her skin was pale and clean, a vivid contrast to what surrounded her. To the filth that surrounded everyone. She was good, a tiny slice of goodness surrounded by filth, and I wanted to be a part of that. No, fuck, I needed to be a part of that.”

Review

LAWD MERCY!  Guys, there were a million things that I absolutely loved about this book but let us start with that cover.  It is hot and a little scary and so very sums up Eagle.  I adore it!  Now, this is the second book in the Thicker Than Blood Series.  I would definitely recommend that you read Thicker Than Blood first even though this could probably be a standalone.  There are a couple of reasons; one, Thicker Than Blood is freaking awesome and two, being you get introduced to Purgatory and you meet Eagle.  Being introduced to Purgatory and Eagle is kind of a big deal because you really get an idea of how bad Purgatory and Eagle are.  In fact, I couldn’t decide who was worse.  But I admit, I was desperate for Eagle’s book.  Because I love a mean book boyfriend and Eagle really is the meanest of the mean.

I won’t go into too much plot detail because I really do not want to spoil this amazing book for anyone and really, everything about it is kind of epic and spoily, if you know what I mean.  But I will say that while the first book wasn’t really what I would consider a romance in every sense of the word, but this one is.  Oh, it so is.  And this romance loving girl ate up every bit of it.  I could not stop.  I read this book in one sitting.  I was hooked.  I was in Purgatory (hell on earth) right along with Eagle and Autumn and I was falling in love too.

‘She was good, a tiny slice of goodness surrounded by filth, and I wanted to be a part of that.’

It is odd how love can still flourish in the most awful of places, in saddest and most terrible of circumstances, but it can.  Even to people have lost everything and everyone.

‘We weren’t prepared, not for this, not for an enemy who wore your wife’s face, who had your daughter’s eyes, your son’s dimples.’

Oh, the feels, guys.  At times this book was gut wrenching and miserable and still I couldn’t stop because I knew there was the potential for so much and just like these broken characters, I had such hope for the future.  When I wasn’t overwhelmed by all of the feels, I was engulfed in the inferno of sexual tension between Autumn and Eagle and it seemed to go on and on and man I love a good build up to the sexy time.  I love fevered seeming to never end kisses.  I love looks of longing and stolen glances of love and this story had so many.

‘All I wanted to do was kiss her again, kiss her and touch her, and make the world go quiet.’

I also really enjoyed getting to know some really awesome new characters and revisiting the ones I hate.  Yeah, I am talking about you LIV!  You are an asshole of epic proportions and I do not know how I will ever get over it.

So, yes, one of my favorite books this year will probably be a sci-fi/fantasy/post-apocalyptic/horror/zombie type of romance.  Which sounds absolutely crazy to say but it SO the damn truth.  I am already dying of the next one.  These stories are just getting better and better!

‘Beneath the blood and bone, there was nothing.’
