Review
I was able to review book 1, Truth in Wildflowers and would suggest reading the book prior to reading Truth in Watercolors. The reasoning is that it starts where the first book ends. And there are character backgrounds that will definitely be helpful.
Enjoyed reading about these characters and their passion for art. Whether it’s tattoos or painting, these two really are talented. In the beginning of the story Wes saves Capri from having to endure an awful way to breakup. But in this gesture, both began to feel something more. Both have their secrets and when they confide in one another, the love story is beautiful!
The author did another awesome job with character development. Lennon is still my favorite. And Wes made me laugh out loud with his dialogue. Oh and the way he was protective of Capri made me like him more. I enjoyed the dialogue again by Kimberly. It was relatable and really funny. Even though both felt drawn together, I kind of wish they acted on it sooner. The two were way too cautious. If you’re looking for a great summer read, I recommend Truth in Watercolors, 4 smooches!
Sometimes the best things in life come from the unexpected. So if you lower your expectations, then you’ll never be disappointed. Sound cheesy? It is, but
it’s also true. Clichés come from a grain of truth…like a man with a Porsche is compensating for something, or once a cheater always a cheater—you get the
idea. Sorry, I digress. I’m supposed to be telling you what this book is about.
I’m Megan Walker, a lawyer at one of the hottest boutique law firms in Atlanta. I’m on the fast track to making partner and have my entire life planned
out…or I did.
We all know how that goes, right? Best laid plans and all that.
Life just threw me a couple curveballs, so I’ve set out to take things into my own hands. By throwing caution to the wind and getting out of my A-type
personality bubble, I’m learning more about myself than I have in my twenty-seven years.
Chad’s face is a mask of contradictions and his penis is still hard and he’s wearing a condom and he’s walking toward me. “Megan, listen, baby, we can work
this out.”
“Oh yeah, we can?”
“Yes,” he says, standing there with his pants at his ankles.
I know I’m repeating myself, but who walks toward his girlfriend with a condom on and pants at the ankles.
“How about this? You both have three minutes to get the fuck out of my house. I’m going to change because I have one of the most important depositions of
my life, and I can’t go with guacamole on my shirt.”
Where is this calm coming from? No idea.
“Baby, come on. Don’t overreact.”
What a dick, right? Yep, he really says this, to me, while he is standing there with a condom on his dick, his pants around his ankles. The secretary now
throws my vibrator on my perfect seven hundred thread count sheets and pulls her dress down from where it was bunched at her waist.
“Oh, you think this is over reacting?” I take a step toward him for the first time since I’ve been here.
Chad takes another step toward me.
I smile. “I think overreacting would be to grab that knife that I cut my cantaloupe with this morning, you know the one that’s still on the kitchen
counter, and cut your dick and balls off. Then have them mounted. I think that would be overreacting. I, however, am simply asking you to get your shit,
your condom, your whore and never come back.” Ice enters my veins and voice and he knows I’m not fucking around.
“Megan,” his condescending tone blows the roof off my calm.
“Chad…” I use the same tone. “If you aren’t gone in,” I look down at my watch, the one he gave me for my birthday, “two minutes now, I’m going to punch
myself in the face and then stab you.”
He stares at me.
“Heat of passion and all that. I walked in on my live in boyfriend pounding a bitch in my bedroom, using my dirty vibrator…I don’t think a jury anywhere
would convict me. You?” I smirk and cock my head to the side in a question. At that, I turn and walk into my huge walk-in closet and change my shirt. My
closet was the main reason why I bought this house. I have no idea if the shirt I’m pulling off the hanger matches my suit. I’m trying to focus, trying to
compartmentalize what just happened.

Review
Megan Walker, a lawyer with her dreams within her grasps, gets dealt a crummy hand in the relationship department. When she finds her boyfriend in a compromising position on the day that could make or break her career, causes her to do the unthinkable. After banging out her deposition she goes to a liquor store and gets some vodka and an unlikely item. Just when she thinks her world is crazy, it gets turn on its axis.
With her best friend Laura, these girls go on a road trip. Closure is needed for Megan and she seeks it. Along the way are hot guys, concerts and soul searching.
I don’t know where to start, so I’m just going to jump in. Even though I read the blurb beforehand, I felt like I was going in blind. I had no idea what was going to happen in this book. The banter and friendship between Laura and Megan was fun. There was a lot of dialogue between the two, some funny and some not so much. The character is 27, I too am 27, and I didn’t find her relatable to me. I don’t talk the way that Megan did. And I found it odd. That’s the only thing I couldn’t connect with in the book. I liked that each man she meets on her journey, provides her with some clue as to what she wants in a man. If your looking for a summer road trip book with fun times and hot boys this would be the book for you. 3.5 smooches for Sunshine and Whiskey.
It’s been said the longest echo ever measured lasted 75 seconds, but I can assure you, this will last much longer. The bang deafened the world around me, muting everything into nullity, allowing the reflection of its destruction to live far beyond its intended life.
It will follow me forever, destroying me—destroying you.

Mitch Bradford is an intimidating man. In his professional life, he has a reputation for demolishing his opponents in the courtroom. At the exclusive BDSM club Sanctum, he prefers disciplining pretty submissives with no strings attached. In his line of work, there’s no time for a healthy relationship. After a few failed attempts, he knows he’s not good for any woman—especially not his best friend’s sister.
A woman who always gets what she wants
Laurel Daley knows what she wants, and her sights are set on Mitch. He’s smart and sexy, and it doesn’t matter that he’s a few years older and has a couple of bitter ex-wives. Watching him in action at work and at play, she knows he just needs a little polish to make some woman the perfect lover. She intends to be that woman, but first she has to show him how good it could be.
A killer lurking in the shadows
When an unexpected turn of events throws the two together, Mitch and Laurel are confronted with the perfect opportunity to explore their mutual desire. Night after night of being close breaks down Mitch’s defenses. The more he sees of Laurel, the more he knows he wants her. Unfortunately, someone else has their eyes on Laurel and they have murder in mind.
EXCERPT:
“I take it you found out about me joining the trainee program at Sanctum.”
“I don’t think it’s a good idea. I don’t think it’s professional for the two of us to be at the same club together. I count on that club, Laurel. The few friends I have in life are there.”
“All right. I’ll let them know I won’t be coming anymore.” She took a deep breath and there was a hollowness to her expression he despised. It was only there for a moment and then her face was a polite blank. “Do you need anything? Coffee? You skipped lunch. I could get you a sandwich.”
“Just like that? You’ll leave it like that? I expected more of a fight out of you.”
She shook her head. “I didn’t join to cause you harm or to take something away from you. I joined because I wanted to explore that side of myself. Since you’ve made it plain that my presence takes away from your enjoyment of something you need, I’ll leave.”
How did she do this to him? She’d had him in knots since the moment he’d met her. “Could you give me a couple of minutes to catch up? I didn’t even know you were interested in the lifestyle.”
Now her inner brat made an appearance, those pretty blue eyes rolling. “Of course you did, Mitchell. That’s a complete cop out and unworthy of you, counselor. If you’re going to defend yourself at least do it properly. You’ve known I was interested in D/s since the moment you hired me.”
He had. He’d found books by Sanctum’s resident authors, Amber Rose and Dakota Cheyenne. Silly pen names for Serena Dean-Miles and Laurel’s sister-in-law, Bridget Daley. Bridget was the one who had sparked Laurel’s interest, though he’d rather thought it had all been a means to an end. “I thought it was really me you were interested in.”

Now she supposedly belongs to the ultra rich, extremely gorgeous Shep Prescott. He could have anything he wants yet he seems to be in hot pursuit of her. No matter how rude, how snarky, how impossible she acts, it doesn’t stop him. More like her horrible behavior seems to make him want her more.
When she finds herself starting to fall for him, Jade’s confused. There’s more to Shep than the carefree rich charmer he portrays. No way could he want a serious relationship with her…or could he?
Excerpt:
“I hate Shepard
Prescott.”
“Of course you do.
Heaven forbid you’re normal and think he’s hot like the rest of the female
population on campus.” Kelli rolls her eyes, flicking her long, perfectly wavy
brown hair over her shoulder. I dodge out of the way before all that glossy
perfect hair smacks me in the face.
“Do you really
think he’s hot?”
The pointed look
Kelli sends my way is answer enough.
It doesn’t matter
if I think or Kelli thinks he’s good looking because he just is. There’s no
denying that fact. But his arrogant attitude and smug personality cancels out
the sexiness.
“Seriously. He’s
an asshole.” I stare at the back of the asshole’s head. His hair is this
streaked golden brown that almost looks like he paid for those highlights,
which I really hope he didn’t because oh my God, that would make him even more
pretentious. Though I’m sure he received those naturally glorious blond streaks
by sailing on his family’s yacht or whatever. Or perhaps sunning himself on the
beach during one of the many tropical vacations he no doubt takes.
To say we run in
different crowds is putting it mildly. He’s older than me by two years. He’s in
a frat and I’m not in a sorority. He’s rich as hell and I am most assuredly not.
There is absolutely no reason whatsoever for him to know I exist and I’m fine
with that.
Really.
“Even his name makes
him sounds like an asshole. And his nickname is stupid too. Shep.” I grimace. All rich dudes have
stupid nicknames I swear. “Sounds like a dog’s name. ‘Here boy. Here Shep.
Mommy’s got a treat for you’,” I sing song then roll my eyes. “Ridiculous.”
“I just bet
Mommy’s got a treat for him,” Kelli says, her droll voice dripping with
sarcasm.
“Pfft. Please. He
wishes.” I wave my hand, sending a cautious glance in Shep’s direction. I may
be mocking his ass but the last thing I want is for him to actually hear me.
“You’re on a roll
tonight aren’t you?” Kelli sounds bored. That’s because we are bored. Holed up
in a crappy little underground poker palace run by the supposedly legendary gambler
Shepard Prescott and all of his rich, asshole friends. Our boyfriends brought
us here so they could play against Shep and his gambling posse because they
have a reputation. As in, they bet big so they tend to win big. But more often
than not, they lose. Really big…
Our boyfriends are
counting on the losing really big part.
“I can tolerate
maybe two more rounds of this and then I’m walking,” I mutter before I finish
off the rest of the warm beer in my requisite red Solo cup. Grimacing, I set
the cup on the table behind me and heave a big sigh, earning a quick glance
from my boyfriend. Pretty sad he recognizes my irritated sighs but we really
haven’t been getting along lately so it’s no surprise. He flashes me a tense
smile before returning his gaze to the cards in his hand.
“He looks
stressed.” Kelli nudges my side with her pointy elbow, making me yelp. Does she
sharpen those things or what? “Joel. Look at him.”
I’m looking at
him. And she’s right. Joel does look stressed. What else is new? “He’s been
wearing that look a lot lately.” Lack of funds will do that to a person.
Instead of saving the money his parents gave him at the beginning of the
semester to bail him out since he lost his part time job, he went and blew it
on stupid stuff. Like that pair of designer sunglasses he promptly lost when he
was at one of those lake parties, got drunk and went swimming with them on. In
February.
My boyfriend
doesn’t always make the best choices.
“He doesn’t have
very many chips left either,” Kelli mentions, leaning in close to me so she can
see past Shep. But who can really see past that guy? He has shoulders as broad
as a mountain. And all that wild does he
pay for highlights or not hair that sort of springs up as if it has a mind
of its own.
“Good. Maybe that
means we can leave soon.” I grab my cup from the table and bring it to my lips
only to realize it’s empty and I frown. Not that I want more warm beer but…
“Get her another.”
Shep raises his hand above his head and snaps his fingers, his finger pointed
backward.
Right at me.
“How the hell did
he do that?” I ask no one under my breath, glancing up at the barely dressed
girl who’s suddenly standing in front of me, fresh Solo cup in hand outstretched
toward me. I take the drink from her with a mumbled thank you and she flashes
me a toothy smile before she bounces away.
“Look.” Another
nudge from Kelli’s pointy elbow—that should be an illegal weapon—before she’s
pointing at the wall across from us. There’s a mirror mounted there.
And Shepard
Prescott is looking right at us, a smug grin stretching his lips wide,
revealing perfect white teeth.
The series continues!

Dreams.
I used to have them—before the nightmares started.
I dreamed of nice guys, love…normalcy.
Things like reading the Sunday paper in bed with my lover.
But who needs dreams when your reality is filled with a string of faceless dominating men in uniform? Men that pack a thick bulge and are only too happy to satisfy my deviant sexual cravings.
Me. That’s who.
And then HE walked through the door and shared with me, a total stranger, his intimate dream of love. Damn him for verbalizing every single detail of the dream I buried long ago.
And now I don’t know how I’m going to live without that dream.
Or him.
Holding eye contact with the man, meeting the challenge head on, Henry didn’t flinch. He wanted him to know that he was aware that he was being watched. The energy between the two was sharp and direct. There was no mistaking that contact had been made, and Henry could feel his stomach cramping with excitement, and his balls tightening with desire. This was a man he had dreamed about his whole life. He exuded absolute power. Envisioning him in uniform made Henry inexplicably ache even more.
Definitely a Marine, he thought. A lieutenant? A captain? This man gave orders and expected them to be followed. He commanded. Demanded. And received.
Turning away, Henry made his way through the crowd in search of the bathroom. Mostly he needed his air back and a moment to process what had transpired. He knew that wasn’t all in his head.
The man hadn’t just cruised him.
He’d claimed him.
Heading into the bathroom, the site of an open stall door felt like an immediate godsend and he needed to get behind it, alone. Quickly.
It happened so fast, he wasn’t quite sure how it occurred. Entering the stall, he turned to close the door but was propelled against the metal stall wall to his right, knocking the air out of him. He heard the muffled sound of the stall door latch being locked. The larger man pinned him with his body, his muscular chest pressing Henry flush against the cold metal. The cool smooth surface felt good against his hot, sunburned cheek. Henry could feel the man’s cock pressed against his ass crack on the outside of his bike shorts and wondered if the guy’s cock was still in his pants or not. It wasn’t until that moment that he realized the man had him in a loose choke hold. He didn’t feel fear, and somehow instinctually knew this guy wasn’t going to hurt him. He was establishing his control and position.
With lips next to Henry’s ear, his voice was little more than a growl. “Is that what you want? Little boys? Little boys that will never satisfy you? Is that what you want?” His sizable cock pressed harder against Henry’s ass. With his free hand, the man reached around to the front of Henry’s bike shorts and found exactly what he was looking for – a hard, excited cock. Giving it a squeeze through the slippery material of his bike shorts, Henry hardened immediately to the man’s touch. Continuing to fondle him through the thin fabric, while simultaneously pressing him from behind, the Marine hissed into Henry’s ear, “I asked you a question.”
Brain cells blown away by the physical assault both front and rear, for the life of him, Henry could not remember the man’s question and answered by pressing his junk harder into the guy’s hand, needing to feel possessed by his grasp. He did not disappoint Henry as he squeezed his balls tighter.
“You still want little boys?” he growled, his arm tightening around Henry’s neck.
The moment Henry felt the crook of his arm squeeze his neck, he began to pump himself into the man’s hand, “No. I don’t want little boys.”
“Then what is it you want?” The man had Henry by his cock and was pressing him firmly against his own hard-on, grinding harshly against his ass.
“I want you.”
“Good. And I don’t want you dancing with those boys. Do you understand that?”
Henry nodded his head, yes.
With his hand firmly encasing Henry’s privates, the Marine pressed the smaller man against him and continued to let Henry feel the pressure of his cock against his ass.
Henry leaned his weight back into him, eyes closed. There was nothing in the world except the guy’s hand kneading and pressing his balls. He wanted to stay in the moment forever. Submit to whatever the man wanted from him.
And then he was gone. Leaving Henry against the wall with a raging hard-on and a need to feel the Marine’s hands and cock again, hear his voice, low and raspy, in his ear. Without removing an article of clothing or coming, he had never had a sexual experience that excited him as much, and he knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that he would always remember the sublime feeling of being restrained by this man.
He wanted more.
Excerpt #2:
Henry was deeply ensconced in his own head, making resolutions about moving on, not paying attention to his surroundings, or seeing the man, as he approached his car. He was leaning against the hood, his thick muscled arms folded across his chest. Calm, cool, collected, in charge and so damn freaking handsome.
“Your place?” was all he said.
Henry felt the sharp stab in his heart as his adrenal glands shot a release of hormones into his blood stream. Shaking his head no, he was shocked at how cool and calm his voice sounded, when he was anything but, “No. I don’t think so. You haven’t even bought me a drink yet.”
Walking around the big Marine to the driver’s side, Henry hit the remote, unlocking the door.
With a palm to the solar plexus to stop him, “Where are you going?” the Marine asked.
“Home,” Henry was very matter-of-fact.
“I thought you wanted me to buy you a drink?”
Stepping around the Marine, Henry opened the door to his black BMW and got in. “I do…” and he closed the door and started the engine.
Rolling down the window, he added with a smile, “… on Sunday.” Gunning the Beamer’s engine, he left the Marine in the dusty parking lot with a smile on his handsome face.
Well played, Henry congratulated himself. Let him ache for me as much as I’ve been aching for him.
