Synopsis

Think.

Think back to the exact moment when you fell in love for the first time.

That split second. That precise moment.

Can you remember it?

I can remember the day as if it were yesterday: from the light blue dress she wore, to her golden locks curved along her shoulders, down to the shocking tingle when our fingers touched. It was the happiest day of my life, and yet she didn’t even know I existed.

What if you had the chance to relive those moments? Would you take it?

I’ve waited almost ten years for her and my time has finally come.

This split second, this precise moment will change her life forever.

Holding on tight against my chest, I fight

through the pain as the heated flames burn. Reaching the stairwell, I jet up

the stairs keeping balance as the building continues to tremble. Jumping for

the top of the stairs, I land on the platform. The boy cries out as fear exudes

from his face. Panic swarms my thoughts but I push them out. We are going to make it.

A loud explosion bellows from beneath us

and a fiery blast erupts. The blast blows me off balance sending me straight

into the wall. The boy slips from my grasp as I fly through the air slamming

into the wall. The impact knocks the wind out of me as the dizziness clogs my

head. Debris from the sixth floor crumbles onto the stairwell as the bannister

starts to break away from its hold. I search for the boy, noticing him on the

ground unconscious, still wrapped in my jacket.

Coughing profusely I hoist him back in my

arms, sealing the mask back on his face. The SCBA beeps again, notifying the

three-minute mark. Scanning for the hall window, a sliver of moonlight

illuminates the hallway.

Hosting us off the ground, one arm holds

the boy, while my other grabs hold of the radio. With a raspy voice, “Almost

there Cap.”

“The ladder is waiting for you guys. Step

on it!”

With careful steps, I make way to the window.

In an instant, the building rumbles around us. Flames from inside the apartment

melt the walls and bursts into the hallway. The boy yells out as I tighten my

grip around him.

Large amounts of debris falls behind us

and crashes into the ground, creating gaping holes in the floor. Violent

tremors shake the wooden frames as I struggle to keep balance. A shining light

blinds through the hall window as it blasts open with Carter peeking inside,

“Roman!”

The sound of the cracking floor creeps

around me and I look down to see it’s completely tearing apart. My heart beat

stops as I lay eyes on the child and then Carter. In a split, I rip the mask

off the boy and hoist him up, readying to toss him into Carter’s arms.

As the ground starts to disappear from

underneath me, I use all my strength to hurl the boy, tossing him into Carter’s

grasp. A smile curves along my lips as Carter catches him. And with the sight

of the boy safe, the floor gives way and crumbles beneath me.

The roaring plea of

Carter’s voice is the last sound I hear as I fall into oblivion.

Author CC Wood is releasing the fourth book in her popular paranormal series, Bitten. LOVE BITES follows the story of Ricki and Calder. Ricki is part of a group of best friends that have found themselves in the mix with a host of different paranormal beings they had no idea existed all around them! Calder is a smoking hot werewolf that’s found his mate, now he just has to convince her of it. Ricki is nothing if not skeptical! I didn’t think one night could change the course of my entire life.

With his piercing green eyes, Calder Atwood sees straight through my defenses. He’s more than sexy; he’s a werewolf. Though he says he wants more than a one night stand, I can’t believe him. I learned long ago that men lie, and I vowed not to follow in my mother’s footsteps, pining away for a man who doesn’t know the meaning of the word fidelity. The only way I trust myself not to break that promise is to avoid Calder completely.

Eluding him becomes impossible when I’m thrust into a world of danger and darkness. Despite my resistance, Calder forces his way into my life and my resolve weakens with each day we’re together. After an attack leaves me on the edge of death, I find myself bound to him, body and soul.

Now, I can’t walk away, regardless of how badly I yearn to do just that.

Review

To say I was excited to get Calder and Ricki’s story would be a vast understatement. I have loved this whole series since I first read Bite Me but with the taste of Caulder and Ricki we got in One Little Bite I was hooked on the hot werewolf and the girl who dominated his thoughts.

At this point in the series we know that Ricki and her friends are all part of the prophecy and while once they all believed they were leading ordinary human lives it has become clear that each is destined for something more. Ricki is entrancing and kind. Smart and beautiful it is no secret why Caulder is attracted to her but from the first moment he met her he knew it was something more. As a werewolf he knows his mate when he meets her and after the one night they spent together, in One Little Bite, it is clear that no matter how much she pushes him away He. Will. Chase. Her.

Caulder is everything you want in a sexy werewolf. He is supremely protective and loving and just the right amount of controlling when pushed. As beta of his pack he has a lot of responsibility on his shoulders and the last thing Ricki wants to be is one more responsibility. But trouble building within the Faction and danger is around every corner, Caulder has a lot going against him but he knows it will all be alright as long as Ricki is by his side.

C.C. Wood does a phenomenal job at transporting you to a world with Vampires, Witches, Werewolves and more all the while making it feel like this is something that could happen to any everyday girl like me. Succulently sexy and full of the intense chemistry this is one book you won’t want to put down.

I do want to say that I believe this could be read as a standalone (all the important relevant information is provided to you), but the series as a whole is fabulous and you would be missing out on getting to know an amazing cast of characters.  The closer we get to this series ending I almost start to get sad, I have overtime come to love and feel a closeness to these characters and while I want to see them get past all the danger and drama in their lives I will be sad to see the end.

Hudson

“Hey, stud man. We haven’t even been here an hour and you’ve already got the hot chicks flocking to you. I’m impressed.” Smirking, he ruffles the back of my new friend Caleb’s sandy-colored hair, his twinkling green eyes still locked on mine.

The cute, freckle-faced kid cranes his neck up to look at him with a big, goofy grin. “Well, I learned from the best of the best.”

“That you did, lil’ bro. That you most certainly did,” he repeats lowly, obviously referring to himself. The taunting smirk transforms into a full-blown, I-get-girls-to-drop-their-panties-at-will smile, and I subtly grab ahold of the chair in front of me, steadying myself from whatever craziness is happening inside of me while praying my tights are immune to his allure and stay up on my hips.

Okay, so maybe he’s a wee bit full of himself, but he did call me hot, so I’m willing to forgive a little cockiness.

It’s not until Mary says, “Crew, stop being an arrogant ass and properly introduce yourself to this nice girl. Her family owns the lodge,” that I realize I haven’t spoken a word or stopped staring at him since he walked in. God, I must look like a complete idiot.

Closing my jaw, which had evidently dropped open sometime during my gawking session, I force out the improper thoughts swirling in my head—a rarity for me—and turn on my best hostess face, extending my arm in his direction. “Hi, I’m Hudson Shavell.” Those are the only words I can manage, because when he takes my hand in his, all of the nerve endings in my fingers and my palm fly into hyperdrive, shooting a jolt of energy straight up my arm and throughout the rest of my body.

“Nice to meet ya, Hudson Shavell. I’m Crew Elliott, the arrogant ass for a son,” he jokes, his Southern drawl endearing, while holding onto my hand a few seconds longer than necessary. “I’m glad you got to meet the sweet son first, but don’t let that innocent face fool you; he’s more of a heartbreaker than I could ever dream of being.”

“Shut up, Crew!” Caleb exclaims, playfully punching his older brother in the ribs. “Don’t be cock-blocking me. Even if Hudson here isn’t digging my chili, have you looked around and seen the rest of her sisters? They’re smokin’ too, man.”

Unable to hold back, I burst out laughing as Mary flicks her younger son on the ear and shakes her head in disbelief, mumbling something about having boys. Meanwhile, Crew is scanning the dining room, obviously searching out my other smokin’ sisters, which puts a damper on my short-lived amusement. I know at least one of them will be all over him before the night is over, and seeing how I’m going on a date with someone else, I can’t very well call dibs on him, or whatever my sisters usually do when they all see a cute guy they’re interested in.

Never before have I cared much to find out how this process works, but I’m guessing it’s not like food. I suppose licking his face real quick to mark him as mine for when I get back wouldn’t be appropriate.

“Hudson! Hey, Hudson, your date just got here! Doug’s got him cornered in the lobby,” Cheyenne calls out from behind me, emphasizing the word ‘date’ with the sugary-sweet voice she only uses when she wants something. And unfortunately, I know exactly what she wants right now.

I twist around at the waist, careful not to snarl my nose up at her, and tip my chin in acknowledgement. “Thanks, sis,” I bite out. “I’ll go save him.”

Turning back toward Mary, Crew, and Caleb, I twist the corners of my lips up in an apologetic smile. “Excuse me. It was a pleasure meeting you all, and I’m sure I’ll see you around quite a bit during your stay. If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to call. Our cell numbers are listed in the welcome packet in your cabin.”

Then, without introducing Cheyenne to the group, which I know she’s eagerly waiting for, I spin on my heel and hurry out to the lobby to rescue Beckham from the wrath of my dad’s inability to shut up, wondering why this day of all days Crew Elliott walked into the lodge. It’s almost like a sick joke from the gods. Finally, after hearing my boy-crazy sisters for years, never understanding what all the hype was about, I’m introduced to someone who turns my insides to a liquefied, chaotic mess at the mere sight of him, only to be yanked away and put in the arms of someone else.

Awesome-sauce.

what people are saying

5 stars of beauty, touching every single emotion in the eloquent way only Noelle can.

~ S.E. Hall, NYT Bestselling Author

Poignant and timely, the subject matter of Erin Noelle’s Spark is both thought provoking and heart wrenching. 5 stars to a romance that is so much more than a simple love story.

-Carey Heywood, NYT & USA Today Bestselling Author

Noelle really shows her breadth as a writer in Spark––funny, sexy, sad, witty and poignant––all in exactly the right places. Set among the grandeur of the Colorado mountains and caught in the middle of legalized marijuana, ski bunnies and hipsters, Spark is not only a story about young love, but conviction, strength, and the meaning of family. A five-star, do-not-miss, full-of-feels new adult read!

~Rachel Blaufeld, Author of the Electric Tunnel series and Redemption Lane

Erin Noelle has a way of drawing you into a story and you just don’t want to leave. You can smell the air, touch the characters and become one with her words. Granted, Erin has a way of making your chest clench, find it necessary to scream and grab a tissue.

~Joanne Schwehm, Author

Bottom line is … Erin Noelle hit this one out of the park. She gives you EXACTLY what you want when you want it, like she was in my brain, piecing together the perfect new adult novel. Like she was like “I wonder how Ashley would feel about this” and then WHAM she gives it to me … you will love, you will cry, you will be broken, you will be empathetic, you will be ANGRY AS FAAAK, and you will be put back together in a way that only Erin can …

FIVE EPIC STARS UP IN SMOKE!!!!!!!!!!!

~Ashley Suzanne, Author

Just finished reading an ARC of Spark by Erin Noelle!!! Wow!! This book kept me up all night reading. I’m telling you now that Spark is a definite must read that will have your emotions running wild and falling in love with Crew, Hudson and everyone else that you’ll meet. Thank you, Erin!! ☆☆☆☆☆

Lessons in Pure Life Synopsis:

Freshly minted grad Emilia Noble arrives in Costa Rica to teach English in the tropical community of Pacifica. Its carefree, pura vida lifestyle is a welcome contrast to her dark and wintry origins. Tossing caution aside like an old winter coat, she plunges headfirst into an exotic cocktail of sensory pleasure.

Diego is a local whose surfer body and cool detachment make Lia buzz with a long-lost thrill. Fascinated by her new environment, she can’t help but wonder about the moody inner workings of the boy with triceps like Wolverine and a grimace to match.

Diego seems to have no problem ignoring Lia, though. Caught up in his family’s conflicted attitude toward foreigners, he notices her only when it’s convenient. But as Lia thrives in her new surroundings, Diego might just find reason enough to defy his embattled, insular father. When north and south are mixed together, the results are intoxicating.

Review

Emilia 'Lia' Noble Comes out to her cousin Kat, in Costa Rica to teach English to the community's school students,
Where she comes across the mystery that is Diego Valverde. She has a strong attraction to him immediately.
Diego Valverde is mysterious and broody. This foreign woman who has come to teach English in his sister Genesis' school, and he seems unhappy about it.
He and Lia always seem to be brought together but a past and a family grudge with foreigners holds him back.

I really liked Lia. She was a strong female, she wasn't vulnerable and whiny but she also wasn't all up in your face "I'm a bad ass" kind of strong, she was just a strong leading character in all aspects. She came to Costa Rica to teach English to the locals, in a new school. She had to get away from some things that had happened to her, she wasn't running away, it was more like a fresh start, although her time in Costa Rica is undetermined. She was hilarious too!
"Me Lia. You Diego. I can has your biceps?"
Diego Valverde?? mmmm. That man is a mystery. A hot mystery. He is the brother of Genesis, Lia's new boss. He always done work around the school for his sister, and was proud of the work they did. Although he wasn't a typical alpha, he could be shy but also quite cocky and very charming. He was an intriguing character to say the least. I wanted to dig deeper and deeper with Diego! Oh and I'm definitely going to Google some Spanish words.
"I turn back apprehensively to Diego, who's walking toward me with a challenging grin. I might do anything for that grin. 'Come on, gringa. Let's see what you've got,' he says"

One of the aspects I liked of this book was the cultural experience. It was really explored through Audrey's writing. Through all the characters. Through Lia being new there. Being in awe of all the new things she was experiencing and learning, and how in return she was also teaching and helping the locals learn. We also get to see it from the people who live there, how proud they are of their home. How they see foreigners. The culture was a very big part of this story. We experienced it as much as you possibly can through the characters. You can nearly feel the sun and taste the fruits and drinks that are described, just nearly feel the sand from the beach under your feet. Audrey's writing is very well detailed.

"Bright red strawberries, long green papayas, small round watermelons the color of winter  pine needles hiding a polka-dotted secret inside. Oranges, lemons, limes, cherries, peppers, and bananas draw me with their vivid natural beauty and sweet perfume."

I disliked Diego's father, he did redeem himself though, kind of. Now while I loved the cultural experience of reading this book, and I did I loved it, sometimes, just sometimes it took over, took from the characters and their journey and story. While this book had passion and love, I really enjoyed this thoroughly, but for me something was missing, it needed a little aggressive-passion, I sometimes wanted to shout at Diego to push her up against a wall and kiss her breathlessly. It was a little fade to black in some parts too.
All in all though I enjoyed it! It was fun, sweet, romantic and had its sexy moments too. It's a good get-away book, the perfect escape book. Audrey's writing is smart and funny and her characters are intriguing and interesting. The story develops over time, is not a fast paced story, I wished it was just a little more fast paced in some parts but more so enjoyed getting to know the characters as the story developed. The story easily flowed together.
one question though? Is there more? I hope so!
I need a lot more of Diego Valverde.

“I’ve never seen you cruel before. Didn’t know you had it in you, Boy Scout.”

“You know, lady,” there was a hum in my voice I didn’t recognize. Alex had put it there with just the low dip of her gaze, “you got all these ideas that you know me. You don’t.”

“Ditto.”

Her eyes moved with the shake of my head, following the slow nod, the moment becoming something tactile, obvious as the heating air between our bodies that dampened our skin. Two looks, two held breaths and something had shifted. Hell, who was I kidding? It had started, brewing, way back, the second I grabbed her arm, stopping her from taking that wallet. It simmered when she snuck onto my balcony asking for my help. Now it crackled—that attraction, the symmetry in the breath that mingled between her mouth and mine.

“Alex?” It was only her name falling from my mouth that moved her gaze off my lips, a small glance that was all the answer she’d give me. “I’m not a fucking Boy Scout.”

There are times when you can’t think. Those are the clustered moments when the energy, the zing of the moment you’re in breaks apart any awareness you have. There is no logic in the swell of sensation or the liquid heat that drives one body closer to another. It’s the feel of warmth, the hope of touch that pulls you in no matter what your brain tries to make you understand about right and wrong, friend or foe. I wasn’t supposed to touch Alex Black. I wasn’t supposed to see her as anything but a mission. I was supposed to find her stalker and keep her safe.

But I had always done what was expected. Seems she had to, as well. The difference was that my expectations fell on the side of justice. Hers ran along the tracks of corruption. Both meant we survived however we could.

I didn’t think about the case or what had brought her to me in the first place, and what kept her coming back to me. I reached for her because I knew that’s what we both wanted. I touched her because she let me and once I had her against my chest, felt the smooth brush of her fingers on my neck, sensation shattered judgment.

The last sound I heard before I kissed her was the strangle of laughter falling into a moan. Hers, not mine. Alex was a woman—beautiful, sensual, parts that went in and out just like they’re supposed to, but she did not kiss me like any other hesitant, docile woman I’d ever touched.

She touched me like she was still hungry, like the meal we had just shared had not filled her. Like nothing would.

Her debut novel, a New Adult, Contemporary (no cliffie) Romance, “Chasing Serenity” launched in October 2013 and quickly became an Amazon bestseller. When she’s not writing or wondering about her possibly Jack Sparrowesque ancestor, Eden edits, reads and spends way too much time watching rugby, Doctor Who and New Orleans Saints football.

She is currently living under teenage rule alongside her husband in southeast Louisiana.

Synopsis

One lie can change your life.

A web of lies can destroy it.

Neil Ryan was a good Navy SEAL. He was an even better detective, but when an unmarked envelope lands on his desk, long-buried secrets are resurrected and Ryan questions everything he thought he knew about justice, including who killed his mother.

Alex Black is a distraction Ryan doesn’t need—she’s loud, obnoxious and a common thief, but her eyes are haunting, her lips irresistible and Ryan happens to love her filthy mouth.

Alex is also the only one able to help Ryan find the leads he’s missing. She’s the only one who can lead him to the one person who has the answers he seeks, but following her could cost Ryan everything.

Secrets get told, lives get wrecked and in every shadow, the truth is hiding.

Review

Alex Black has not had an easy life, and the one she is living just keeps getting harder. A product of her life’s circumstances, Alex survives the only way she knows how, the way she was taught to – by chasing the next con. Alex doesn’t dare allow herself to think or even hope that there could be something more or different for her in this life.

Former Navy SEAL and police officer, Neil Ryan has seen his share of life’s horrors. He’s lived them, he’s survived them. Still managing to follow his moral compass, he became a police officer after serving in the SEALs under a man whom he respected and thought of as a father figure. Once Ryan became a police officer, he began to dig further into his mother’s murder and her best friend’s supposed suicide. He never uncovered anything factual, and he was left with more questions and suspicions. After a confrontation with his mentor, he leaves the police force and heads to New Orleans where he and a few SEAL buddies start a security firm.

Ryan and Alex meet in a very unusual situation, and they realize that they have met before. Ryan can barely stand Alex, and Alex certainly doesn’t trust Ryan, but then again, she doesn’t trust anyone. Alex has something Ryan wants, and Ryan has something Alex needs, so they strike a mutually beneficial deal, and so begins the unusual partnership of Ryan and Alex.

But Alex has a lot going on, and she is getting some very unwanted attention. That attention escalates truly frightening her, and, with no where else to go, it sends her running to Ryan. Ryan, recognizing the situation must be bad for her to come to him, takes her in and agrees to help her.

The mystery in this book is what had me turning the pages. This part of the plot was very well developed and rich with details. Eden Butler has created an exciting mystery in this book that runs very deep, and I believe it will carry through at least the next book, if not further. I’m very intrigued, and I’ll continue reading this series because I have to know what happens next!

The reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars was because the romance portion of the book was a very, very slow burn. The reasons for this were partly due to Alex, who really struggled with letting Ryan in and trusting him. I still would have liked there to have been more romance and a slightly quicker romantic build between the characters, but they did get there in the end.

This author is a very talented writer, and she has built a plot line that is nearly impossible not to get completely swept up in. She went into such great detail, it was so easy to picture the places she was describing vividly. I enjoyed this aspect of her storytelling so much, and it made it so easy to get lost in her book. This was the first I’ve read of the talented Eden Butler, but it most definitely won’t be the last. A solid 4 smooches for me!
