“That was not the way I wanted our introductory conversation to end,” Josh explains the next day. He’s alone in his room this time, still face down in the bed, his voice still raspy.

“Don’t worry about it. Heavy pain meds do that for a reason, the more you let your body rest, the sooner it heals.”

“Holy shit! How did my coach just throw his voice into your mouth?” he quips good-naturedly.

“I’m going to fold your top blanket down to work on your arms and back.” I bring the covers over the lower half of his body to begin the massage.

His back, arms and shoulders are as perfect as his legs and ass. His muscles, even relaxed, bulge. Moving down, my hands cup his hip. His body now glistens with the sheen of the sweet almond oil I’ve rubbed into him. I consider myself a medical paraprofessional, but my next move doesn’t feel professional at all. It feels animal and hungry. My fingertips dig into the muscles of his ass.

When we last left Simon and Caroline they had bought a house and were living together so now the pressure is on from their friends for them to move to the next stage of weddings and babies. If you are like me and have fallen in love with not one but both of these characters your heart races whenever their relationship is put to a test because you desperately want them to have and keep their Happily Ever After.

“Oh my goodness, yes. Simon? Holding a baby girl? It was like a bomb of cute went off inside me.”

When tragedy strikes while Simon is on a shoot halfway around the world the happily ever after that seemed so clear for these two is put to the test. For being a short novella this story really had everything I had hoped it would. It had a great love story, a bit of drama, some good ole sexy times and a cast of characters that leave you wanting more.

I have yet to read a book by Alice Clayton that I could put down and this was no different. After spending several books falling in love with her other characters it was treat to get back to the two that started it all! I cannot wait to see what suprises the future holds for Simon and Caroline.

Shoot For The Moon is book two in Rochelle Paige’s Black River Wolf Series. I am decently new to the whole world of paranormal romances but I am really enjoying these fast and sexy reads. I am a HUGE fan of alpha male books and I am finding that wolves are some very sexy alphas. While each of the books in this are short they still pack a punch bringing drama, love and lots of pure steam!

Shoot For The Moon is Spencer and Eliza’s story and it is very different than other wolf romances simply because Spencer and Eliza were sleeping together long before he realized that she was his mate. Spencer’s grandmother had visions and she told him that his mate would “walk in dreams” meaning she could tell the future in her dreams. So, when Spencer meets Eliza he is very much drawn to her but is convinced she is not his mate because she does not posses this abilty. He decides to start a purely physical relationship with her but lets her know that he is still looking for his mate. Eliza knows that Spencer is the one for her and even though she wants all of him she will take what she can get. What she doesn’t tell Spencer is that she had to leave her old tribe because they didn’t like her abilty to tell the future through her dreams. YES! She hides this from him because she thinks it will scare him away.

After casting aside the thought that she could be his mate to her Spencer has to find a way to get Eliza to trust him so that he can claim her as his! I loved watching Spencer try to win over Eliza. You could tell he wanted nothing more than to throw her down and claim her but after hurting her so bad he has to go slow and be careful. This is clearly not the way of an alpha male and it was a lot of fun seeing him try to reel it all in. Overall, I am loving this series and can’t wait for more!

“Josie, are you sure about this?” Madison sat on the bed, her face pinched with concern.

 

“Look, I know you’re worried. Christ, I want to throw up every time I think about what I’m doing. But…” Josie scooted onto the bed and turned to Madison. “I think about him, Maddie. I think about him a lot. And not all of those thoughts involve burying his body.” Josie laughed and looked at her hands. “The truth is, he makes me feel. I’ve dated, you know that, but the relationships always fizzle out, and that’s if there is even a spark to begin with. I thought it was me, you know? That I was the problem. Because it’s weird, right? That I’ve never fallen in love? I’ve barely even been in lust. I thought something was wrong with me. And shit, I’m not saying there isn’t, because of all the people who could make me feel that spark, it has to be the most impossible man in the world.”

 

“Josie, you’re not broken. You’re just, guarded. You…you don’t give yourself a chance.”

 

“Exactly, I’ve never cared enough to bother. But now, with this crazy, complicated, infuriating man, I want to. God help me, but I do. I don’t know where it will go. For all I know, it could just be a fluke—ridiculous sexual chemistry that fizzles out like the rest. Or I could end up really liking him and he could break me. Right now I can’t think that far ahead. I like him, but I’m also leery, and it’s still early enough that if I bail, or if he bails, I can walk away unscathed. I just, I need you to be there for me because I’m terrified and I need my best friend.”

 

Madison squeezed Josie’s hand and smiled. “Of course I’ve got your back. I’ll always be here for you, no matter what. Whatever you need—a shoulder, a shovel, or an alibi—you know I’m your girl.”
