at.” Cat slung herself into the chair next to mine.

“I like getting under your skin.” Pulling her chair closer, I pinned her

legs between mine. I caressed along her neck until I cupped her face. “If you

give us a shot, I guarantee I’ll make it worth your while.”

 

She slammed her lips against mine. This kiss was volatile and urgent as

our tongues fucked against each other. I slipped back for a moment, listening

to her jarred breaths. That goddamn ponytail had to go. I freed the elastic as

she unbuttoned the shirt I’d thrown on earlier. Playing with the line of hair

down my torso led Cat to my jeans. Her palm cupped my hard cock hidden beneath

the rough fabric.

 

Fuck. FUCK!

 

Straight black sheaths of sweet smelling hair fell to her waist. “Jesus

Christ, Cat.”

My fingers spun through the silken strands. When she claimed my mouth

“That wasn’t yours to take away,” he exploded into the otherwise silent night. His words echoed off the surrounding buildings, each wave slicing me to the quick all over again. “That was our place. Not yours.” His voice cracked right alongside my heart.

“Yeah, well, there was a lot of stuff that wasn’t yours to take either.” I held his gaze, desperately trying to be strong, but as his eyes grew wide, I whimpered.

His long legs strode forward, stopping only inches away from me. He was crowding me, but he still leaned in closer to my face. “There is nothing in this world that was ever more mine than you,” he stated. Though it was the absolute truth, I wished with all my heart that it were a lie.

“Till,” I cried, swiping the tears from my eyes.

“Why!” he shouted, causing his muscles to tense under the force. “Goddamn it! I needed that place.”

Porch lights flashed on from the surrounding apartments, illuminating not only the dark but also my rage.

I shoved my hands into his chest. “What about what I needed? You left! I waited in that fucking apartment for weeks.”

He didn’t budge, but my bare feet slipped, sending me toward the ground. Impossibly fast, Till’s hand snaked out and caught my arm. I didn’t let his chivalrous gesture douse my fire. I had six months’ worth of words to say to the man I was irrevocably in love with.

“You took what you wanted. Then you left me.”

“Doodle,” he whispered.

I had been perilously close to the edge of insanity, and with one single word, he’d pushed me over.

I lost it completely.

Pounding my fists against his chest, I screamed at the top of my lungs, “It’s Eliza! My name is fucking Eliza! Not Doodle!” I spun to march away, but Till’s arms folded around me, lifting me off my feet to restrain me.

I was miniscule compared to him. There was no use in fighting, but I still kicked my legs, irrationally desperate to get away from him—but only because I knew I couldn’t keep him for forever.

Review

Young love can be damaging to a girl. Especially when you believe your boyfriend has been cheating on you. Penelope is 17 and is in love with Ethan (19). This love has got her unable to think straight. She is putting off her dreams of college and is acting out towards her parents. After Pen was forbidden to see Ethan, she comes up with a plan for eloping. And that’s when her lovely world crumbles. One phone call to Ethan’s house erupts in cheating accusations and the feeling of abandonment in their plans to elope. Even though the moment is torturous in a 17 year old girls mind, she was able to move on, go to college, and score a successful job.

Sadly an accident happens and all 4 sisters come home to Blue Lake, and it just so happens that Ethan is living there now. Secrets get revealed, but will Penelope and Ethan get their happy ending or will the secret be too much?

I loved this story, kind of brought on a Nicholas Sparks kind of feel. While the story was building, I felt it was a tad slow. But the chemistry between Ethan and Pen is inevitable. I love how after 12 years of separation, these two have the chemistry and still know one another. It was definitely on point for them. Writing style was good, I liked how the author didn’t do too formal introductions to characters. What I mean is she intertwined the sisters in the story and it really helped understand the sisterhood. I enjoyed reading The Best Kind of Love and look forward to reading Chloe’s story.

However, Darcy faces a dilemma, the particular doll he needs is sold out everywhere. Darcy makes one last attempt to get the doll at a local toy store, and finds out they have only one left in stock, but he also finds out he is not the only person interested in claiming the doll.

Neala and Darcy go way back, playing in each other’s play pens kind of way back. They are not friends, more like mortal enemies, and both of them wanting a single doll was the start of a series of events that no one could have predicted, not even Father Christmas himself.

I snarled, “Give me the doll. Now!”

Darcy had the box against his chest with both hands on it. His fingers tapped against the box while a smug smile stretched across his face.

He glanced to the snowmen gathered around my feet and teased, “You’ve got to watch your step, sweetheart.”

I blew out a frustrated breath. “I swear if you don’t give me that bloody doll I’ll-”

“You’ll what?” Darcy cut me off, his smug smile still in place on his handsome face.

Damn him.

“I’ll shove me foot so far up your arse you’ll need a surgeon to remove it.”

Darcy’s eyes widened. “You’re a foot shorter than me, and at least fifty pounds lighter. You’re a tiny little thing, Neala Girl. I’m not scared of you. You can’t hurt me.”

He was so wrong.

“I can hurt you, and I will unless you give me the doll.”

Darcy raised an eyebrow and snorted. “How about… no.”

Bastard!

I curled my lip into a sadistic grin. “Okay, you asked for it.”

Darcy shook his head at me and moved forward so he could brush by me. “I don’t have time for- What the hell?”

When Darcy was close enough to do so I manoeuvred my body behind his, hooked my arms around his chest and searched for his nipples with my hands. When I found them, I grabbed them between my index fingers and thumbs and pinched.

“Me nipples, let go of me nipples!” Darcy cried.

I growled and tweaked his nipples a little harder. “Let go of the doll, and I’ll let go of your nipples.”

There’s a sentence I never thought I’d hear myself say.
