I traced my tongue along his luscious lips. After what seemed like forever, he parted his lips to grant me further access. I took every part of him into my mouth while reaching for his tie to unfasten it. Bringing my hands back to his body, my nails began to outline every inch of his chest before running down to his waistline. I tugged at his shirt so that I could feel his skin on mine. I yearned for the reckless feelings inside of me to grow and take away everything else. Ethan moaned before biting down against my bottom lip. Listening to his soft moans started an intense blaze between my legs.

With each swipe and nip, my breath shortened as my heart raced at a mile a minute. I ran my hands up his neck. I let my fingers appreciate every part of his hair before yanking it as my body begged for more of him. Ethan hissed and stepped away. He looked confused, but shrugged it off. He slowly moved us further into his office. He brought his lips back to mine with an intensity that matched the force I was using. He maneuvered us over to a section of the bookshelves on the right side of his office. His mouth never left mine, as his hand parted from my side and went up to pull down a book. A section of the wall separated and opened to an empty hallway. He picked me up. I wrapped my legs around him. The door closed behind us. He dragged his lips down to my neck. He nibbled at every exposed spot he could find. I leaned my head against the door and banged it as every part of me yearned for him to be inside of me.

“Oh, God,” I moaned loudly.

Ethan raised a hand to cover my mouth. I was on fire with my need for him. I ran my hands down to his slacks and unbuttoned the fly along with the buttons of his shirt. My tongue traced the marvelous tattoos that covered his chest. I outlined one of the patterns before grazing my teeth across his nipple. Ethan purred and squeezed me tighter to him. His hardness pressed between my thighs and increased the throbbing that cried for us to shed our clothes.

Ethan took several more steps that further dumped us into an empty room. He shut the door behind us and pressed me into the wall next to it. He brought his hand to the inside of my leg and tore my panties from my body. His long fingers traced along the insides of my thighs until he hit my hot spot, deftly sliding in and out.

“Ethan,” I moaned even louder than earlier.

This book has left me with more questions than answers which is a good thing for an author! I must keep reading to find out what happens next!!  It made me think and made me feel and that in my opinion makes a great book. Our female lead is Mia, a headstrong woman with a bright future in journalism ahead of her until her world comes crashing down and everything she knows and loves comes into question. She gradually picks up the pieces only to be thrown into a situation that could prove to be her big break or a big disaster. Into this whirlwind comes Ethan Fitzgerald, mysteriously hot, intensely brooding and very much her boss in a very conflicted way.  What happens when Mia’s big break and her insane attraction to the man she may destroy become very conflicted?? I want to know!! The book does leave you at a very critical point in the story but it makes me want to read Complicated like right now! I give this book 4 smooches and a big high five to M.M. for making me want to keep on reading 😉

I have been reading the Rock Canyon Series since before I was a book blogger and have always really enjoyed it but this book, Return Of The Bad Girl, is by far the very best one yet. The writing has gotten so good, the characters have gotten more and more desirable and the storyline is both fun and intense. I love that she is not afraid to get a little deeper with the plots and subject matter.

“What was it about this infuriating woman that reduced him to a twelve-year-old at the pool?”

Caroline left Rock Canyon years ago with a chip on her shoulder and a bad reputation. Gabe is fresh out of jail for a bad decision that has completely changed the course of his life and followed his former best friend, Chase, to Rock Canyon. When both are promised the same apartment they are PISSED but eventually come to the decision to become roommates and nothing more. Although on a physical level both are supremely attracted to the other, on a personality level they cannot seem to say more than one nice thing to each other and clearly know they are not compatible.

“You have exactly three seconds to get out of here before I do everything I’ve been thinking about since the first day I saw you. You decide. Now.”

What these two outcasts don’t count on . . . understanding the struggles the other has faced. Caroline’s story broke my heart and it is clear her heart was broken years ago and she has never really recovered. But when the demons of her past resurface and not only threaten her sanity but the safety of those she loves leave it to Gabe to step in and make sure she is safe. Gabe too though has a past that haunts him every day of his life and it is one that will never go away. A decision he made years ago irreparably changed the life of the one person who matters the most to him and it is certain that it is not something he can ever fully recover from only something he can attempt to live with. This is where Caroline and her ability to understand him and look at his future and not his past help him heal.

Overall, Return of the Bad Girl was an addictive read that had me laughing, crying and turned on all in one great book. While this can very easily be a standalone I highly recommend this whole series and am sure you won’t be let down.

I have to admit watching these two deny the chemist that is clearly there is both funny and  frustrating. You just want them to say fuck it and get together but it is never that easy. Chloe is keeping one big secret from Lucas and it’s one that could ruin all the hard work they have put into their friendship and budding relationship.

If you are a fan of hilarious books with tons of sexual tension then BAM this is definitely a book you will want to read. Alice Clayton has such a natural ability with wit, which is something that can be hard to find in a good book. While Wallbanger is still my favorite in the series and no man can ever take Simon’s place I truly did love Lucas and Chloe and can easily see re-reading this book again in the future. Lucas is so sexy and loving I just adore him and when they finally give into everything they have been feeling  . . .well . . . OH MY!

“I can’t. The thing is rubbing me raw.” I shifted my shoulder. “I’m going to get a blister.”

Stepping behind me he ran his hands over my shoulders, squeezing gently as if massaging me. His hands slid lower in circles until he was kneading my lower back. My eyes threatened to close as he worked. If I’d been a cat I would have purred in pleasure, but I managed to control myself. His hands closed around my waist, while his thumbs pushed at the gun until it was sitting in a different spot.

“Better?” His breath teased the few loose strands of my hair.

I looked up into his eyes and nodded, not trusting myself to speak. Why did he affect me so much? This man, this self-confessed murderer, turned me to whimpering mush. Well, not whimpering. I wasn’t whimpering. Yet. But I was starting to feel a bit mush-like.

“Ava, you have to stop looking at me like that.” He pressed closer to me, his eyes dipping down to my mouth. The heat of his body washed over my back and I leaned into it, drawn like a moth to flame.

“Like what?” I licked my lips and my breathing hitched.

“Like you want me to kiss you, love.” One of his hands left my waist and drifted up to cup my chin, tilting my head a little more in his direction. Tilting his head down, his lips barely brushed against mine as he looked into my eyes. “I’m not the type of man you should want to kiss.”

“Why not?” I ached to kiss him, to feel his breath mingle with mine, but it was more than just a physical need. I also wanted to banish the lonely darkness that swirled in the back of his eyes. As much as he was protecting me, I felt this urge to take care of him.

Excerpt:

I heard the sound of tires on the wet road, and looked up in time to see another truck slowing down to avoid crashing into the cow. The truck pulled around the cow and stopped alongside where I stood on the side of the road. The driver rolled the window down, and when I saw his face, I wanted to cry.

It was not my day.

“You all right?”

I crossed my arms. “I’m fine!”

“Guess your GPS didn’t tell you to go around the cow, did it, Heels?”

I turned away from him and pulled my phone out of my pocket.

“What are you doing?” he asked.

“I’m calling for roadside assistance.”

“Good luck. Cell phones don’t work on this stretch of road.”

I turned around and glared at him. “What?”

“I said cell phones don’t work on this stretch of road.”

“I heard you. That’s insane.”

“Go ahead and try. Maybe you have some fancy magical cell phone.”

I rolled my eyes and turned away again, attempting to place a call. He was right. Nothing.

“Get in the truck, Heels.”

I didn’t budge.

“Come on, now. Get in.”

I turned around to see him hop out of the truck, walk around to the passenger side, and open the door.

There was no way I was getting in his truck.

“You gonna make me stay out in the rain all night?” he asked.

I put my hands on my hips.

“You know,” he said, “it ain’t right for a cow to stand in the road like that. You ever heard of Mad Cow Disease?”

I looked at the cow, then back at Thatcher, then back at the cow.

Was he kidding? I couldn’t tell. What choice did I have anyway? I was soaking wet, freezing, and miles from the vineyard.

I balled my hands into fists and took several strides toward the truck. “Fine. But I’m only coming with you because you look like an idiot standing out here in the pouring rain.” I got in the truck, and he shut the door behind me.

“Well, so do you, Heels.”
