Excerpt

“Mom, this is my friend, Opal,” Trent introduces.  This time, I actually do wince at his chosen word for our relationship.

“Lovely to meet you, Coral,” she replies coolly, a smirk tugging at her lips.

In this moment, I realize the woman has decided that she doesn’t like me.  I could almost scream in frustration.  Four years of trying to make something happen with Trent only for his mother to hate me for no fucking reason.

“It’s Opal, and it’s nice to meet you as well, Dr. Sutton,” I speak evenly.  I meet her glare this time.  Just as Bray fought for Olive, I’ll fight for Trent and our white picket fence.

Mr. Sutton stands and makes his way over to us. “I’m Trent Senior, but everyone just calls me TS.”  He smiles warmly and stretches out his hand in greeting.

I relax a bit and shake his hand. “Nice to meet you, sir,” I politely reply.

“Well, Trent, won’t you and your friend join us in the dining room,” Dr. Sutton instructs snootily, choosing to emphasize the word friend.

We all begin to leave the parlor for the dining room when a deep voice speaks up behind me.

“So, Trent, if she’s just a friend, you won’t mind me asking her out, will you?” the velvety voice questions.

Trent and I both whirl around to see an extremely good-looking man standing in the doorway with arms crossed.  He’s wearing an unbuttoned dress shirt over a Nine Inch Nails T-shirt and has paired it with what looks like the holiest pair of jeans he could find.  The black Doc Martens on his feet complete the badass, doesn’t-fit-in-the-perfect-home appearance.

“You’re back,” Trent growls at him.  He seems angry at this man’s sudden appearance.  By the looks of it, he must be his brother.

Against my mind’s wishes, my eyes hungrily take in the man’s appearance.  He seems out of place standing in the doorway of the pristine parlor.  His hair is styled in a ‘just fucked’ sort of way, which makes my hands twitch at my sides with the need to run my fingers through it.  Amused, green eyes peer back at me, clearly catching me eyeballing him.  I try to look away, but I can’t until I’ve looked over every inch of him.

“You know you missed me, big brother,” the man teases, but there is a hint of something in his tone.  Bitterness? Anger? Sadness?

“Opal, this is Thaddeus.  Thaddeus, this is—” Trent attempts to introduce us, but his brother interrupts him.

“I know, Trent.  That’s your friend, Opal,” he replies and meets his brother’s glare with one of his own.

His lips were full, that tongue so hot against her skin and Keira didn’t stop his attentions, even though they’d decided to stay hands off until after the wedding. “Kona, what are you doing?”

 

“Can’t you figure it out, baby?”

 

His voice vibrated against Keira’s neck and she closed her eyes, feeling her nipples harden when Kona pulled her earlobe between his teeth. “I thought…thought we were going to wait,” she said, unable to keep her eyes from fluttering. Kona moved his hand up her ribs, rested it just under her breast so his thumb could flick against her nipple. So he could pinch it between his fingers. “Oh God,” she moaned.

 

Kona didn’t remove his mouth from her neck as he picked Keira up and walked through the room to lay her on the bed. The look he gave her was primal, needy, his chest moving as he took in long, deep breaths. He looked down at Keira like he wanted to devour her. Just that look had her wet, had her laying back with her nails moving under the hem of her dress, showing Kona just a peek of her black thong. She smiled at his gruff growl. “The anticipation…”

 

“Fuck the anticipation.” He ripped off his jacket, popped the buttons on his shirt before he fell on top of her, threading his grip in her hair and pushing up her dress with his free hand. “Every time with you, Wildcat, every single time I taste you, feel you, is like the first time.” His fingers felt hot, left fire in their wake as Kona danced them up her thigh, right at the thin seam of her thong, releasing a breathy whine against her collarbone. “I don’t need anticipation. I’ve got plenty of it already. Every time, baby, I anticipate feeling how soft you are.” Kona’s fingernail slid under the black silk and he rubbed his knuckle against the soft skin between Keira’s legs. She stopped breathing, waiting for where he’d touch her next.

 

“I always need you. I always anticipate how you’ll feel around me, wanting your tight, warm pussy milking me dry.” One smooth movement and Kona had her thong off and his hand slid down, separating her wet lips. Kona pressed his thumb against her clit, rolling it until Keira’s back arched, then slipped two fingers inside of her, rubbing the walls of her core, kneading his knuckle right over that spot that never failed to leave Keira panting. Pike is just amazing! The fact that he’s brooded over Tulsi for seven years, warmed my heart. I loved reading his perspective and the since that I was feeling everything that he was.

Synopsis:

Mia Ryan was on the path to make all her dreams come true. Her life was everything she wanted it to be; until one fateful night changed everything – leaving her broken and without direction. Excerpt:

I traced my tongue along his luscious lips. After what seemed like forever, he parted his lips to grant me further access. I took every part of him into my mouth while reaching for his tie to unfasten it. Bringing my hands back to his body, my nails began to outline every inch of his chest before running down to his waistline. I tugged at his shirt so that I could feel his skin on mine. I yearned for the reckless feelings inside of me to grow and take away everything else. Ethan moaned before biting down against my bottom lip. Listening to his soft moans started an intense blaze between my legs.

With each swipe and nip, my breath shortened as my heart raced at a mile a minute. I ran my hands up his neck. I let my fingers appreciate every part of his hair before yanking it as my body begged for more of him. Ethan hissed and stepped away. He looked confused, but shrugged it off. He slowly moved us further into his office. He brought his lips back to mine with an intensity that matched the force I was using. He maneuvered us over to a section of the bookshelves on the right side of his office. His mouth never left mine, as his hand parted from my side and went up to pull down a book. A section of the wall separated and opened to an empty hallway. He picked me up. I wrapped my legs around him. The door closed behind us. He dragged his lips down to my neck. He nibbled at every exposed spot he could find. I leaned my head against the door and banged it as every part of me yearned for him to be inside of me.

“Oh, God,” I moaned loudly.

Ethan raised a hand to cover my mouth. I was on fire with my need for him. I ran my hands down to his slacks and unbuttoned the fly along with the buttons of his shirt. My tongue traced the marvelous tattoos that covered his chest. I outlined one of the patterns before grazing my teeth across his nipple. Ethan purred and squeezed me tighter to him. His hardness pressed between my thighs and increased the throbbing that cried for us to shed our clothes.

Ethan took several more steps that further dumped us into an empty room. He shut the door behind us and pressed me into the wall next to it. He brought his hand to the inside of my leg and tore my panties from my body. His long fingers traced along the insides of my thighs until he hit my hot spot, deftly sliding in and out.

“Ethan,” I moaned even louder than earlier.

He quieted me with his hungry lips. His tongue commanded mine until I stopped moaning. “You have got to try to be quiet Mia,” Ethan said in between heated breaths.

His fingers fell to a meticulous pace that quickly had me close. His tongue swept across my neck and over to my earlobe. I brought my head down and rested it in the crook of his neck. I tenderly bit down to keep from whimpering again.

This book has left me with more questions than answers which is a good thing for an author! I must keep reading to find out what happens next!!  It made me think and made me feel and that in my opinion makes a great book. Our female lead is Mia, a headstrong woman with a bright future in journalism ahead of her until her world comes crashing down and everything she knows and loves comes into question. She gradually picks up the pieces only to be thrown into a situation that could prove to be her big break or a big disaster. Into this whirlwind comes Ethan Fitzgerald, mysteriously hot, intensely brooding and very much her boss in a very conflicted way.  What happens when Mia’s big break and her insane attraction to the man she may destroy become very conflicted?? I want to know!! The book does leave you at a very critical point in the story but it makes me want to read Complicated like right now! I give this book 4 smooches and a big high five to M.M. for making me want to keep on reading 😉
